Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole claimed that this weekend’s Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester City will be decided by “mistakes” and “moments”, with Pep Guardiola’s side “absolutely the favourites” to win.
Arsenal currently have a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League though City have a game in hand, and they could cut the lead to just three points with a win at the Etihad this weekend.
And though the Gunners fought to a 0-0 draw to Sporting on Wednesday night to secure a place in the Champions League semi-finals, Cole was quick to “encourage perspective”, explaining that Mikel Arteta’s side “are not playing well” at the moment.
Cole explained that “there wasn’t much between the teams” during City’s 2-0 win in the Carabao Cup final, adding that he expected it to be the same this weekend.

“I still think in this one-off it’ll be moments within the game, it’ll be mistakes [that decide the game]. It’ll be edgy, blocked off,” he added.
“Absolutely City are favourites. I don’t think it bothers them. He’s [Pep Guardiola] playing mind games with everyone else,” explained Cole, though he insisted that “if Arsenal can avoid defeat, I think they win the league”.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown said that his old side just need to “find form” in the run-in, though he did concede that “City have found their mojo again” in recent weeks.

While City’s last loss in the league came as far back as January, they have recently drawn to both West Ham and Nottingham Forest, while they were soundly beaten by Real Madrid in the round of 16 in Europe.
However, Arsenal have had their own struggles in recent weeks too, notably in that League Cup final loss in late March, though they will head to the Etihad knowing that even a draw could be enough to secure the title down the line.

The Gunners have just six games left in the league as they look to land a first Premier League title since 2004, while City have seven matches to go, with the date for their game in hand against Crystal Palace not yet set.
Weeks after it was announced that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao would be set to meet in a professionally sanctioned rematch this September, Mayweather threw the plans into doubt. He has now provided an update following multiple ‘deadlines’ from the other side.
However, the American later U-turned on the announcement, saying that it was an exhibition, removing the intrigue of his 50-0 record being on the line, and that the venue was not yet finalised, meaning the futuristic Sphere may not get its first boxing card.
On deadline day, Mayweather commented on an Instagram post – now deleted but verified – by ES News that stated the fight was back on. The 49-year-old said:
“This is not true! [Media outlet] Fight Hype will be first to know after everything is worked out.”
If fans are to read into the comment – though they may see that pointless at this stage – Mayweather does seem to end on a positive note. Further updates from Pacquiao’s team are expected soon and, if the ‘will they, won’t they’ saga drags on, perhaps Netflix will get involved, too.
There has been a lot of chatter on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi making his debut for the Indian cricket team in the near future. The 15-year-old has already impressed everyone with brilliant display of batting in the ongoing IPL 2026 and with two half-centuries already, he has certainly put the BCCI selectors on high alert. There were reports that Sooryavanshi can make his debut during the upcoming tour of Ireland but the selection call may lead to some bad news for Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. According to a report by PTI, Sooryavanshi has been included in the 35-member list of T20 specialists who were shortlisted for the tour but his selection remains uncertain due to team combination.
“The selectors were asked by the BCCI logistics department to give at least 35 names whose Irish visa needed to be processed. Since the team’s first port of entry will be Ireland and not England, a UK visa won’t suffice. Everyone requires a separate Irish visa,” a BCCI source told PTI.
However, the report pointed out that India currently have three top openers – Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson – and Sooryavanshi’s inclusion can potentially mean that one of them will miss out.
“The selection committee is convinced Vaibhav is ready, but then you are talking about Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. All three are half-centurions in the T20 World Cup final. If you take a fourth opener, then Yashasvi Jaiswal is also there,” the source said.
The move can also potentially lead to a bigger selection question as the exculsion of a player like Abhishek or Samson can lead to questions on Suryakumar’s place in the team. The India skipper has been quite disappointing in the recent past and since the 2024 T20 World Cup, he has averaged under 20.
“Vaibhav is ready, but the selectors need to give very good reasons to drop Abhishek or Sanju. Because if you drop either one, the question arises — how is Surya keeping his place?” the source added.

Golden State star Stephen Curry scored the go-ahead three-pointer with 50 seconds left as the Warriors rallied to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 126-121 and stay alive in the NBA play-in on Wednesday.
Curry, a four-time NBA champion who missed 27 games from February to early April with a nagging knee injury, shook off a slow first half to finish with 35 points.
He connected on seven of 12 three-point attempts to help the Warriors, who trailed most of the way, battle back from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit.
His last three-pointer put the Warriors up 120-117, and they held on to knock Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers out of the post-season.
The Warriors, who finished the regular season 10th in the Western Conference, will have to win one more game to reach the playoffs proper when they face the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
The winner of that game will secure the Western Conference eighth seed and a first-round series against the top-seeded reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

Curry said the key in Phoenix will once again be “resiliency.”
“These win or go home scenarios, we think we know the team but you’ve got to be able to withstand the runs and stay in it emotionally.
“It was back and forth the whole game, and then we got over the hump the last three minutes.”
Gui Santos and Kristaps Porzingis scored 20 points apiece for the Warriors and Al Horford made four three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Bennedict Mathurin scored 23 points to lead the Clippers. Leonard and Darius Garland scored 21 points each, but Leonard was held to just two points in the final period.

– Sixers reach playoffs –
The Philadelphia 76ers, fueled by 31 points from Tyrese Maxey, held off the Orlando Magic 109-97 to punch their playoff ticket, booking a first-round meeting with the Boston Celtics.

Maxey scored 31 points and five Philadelphia players scored in double figures as the Sixers overcame the absence of star big man Joel Embiid — who made a surprise appearance watching from the bench as he recovers from an appendectomy.
“Man, we played hard as hell,” Maxey said. “Everybody who stepped on the floor contributed tonight.
“I’m just so happy because, like, a lot of these guys ain’t been to the playoffs before. I told them at the beginning of the year, I don’t care what it takes, we’re going to the playoffs.”

Rookie VJ Edgecombe added 19 points and 11 rebounds and Andre Drummond came off the bench to score 14 points with 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots.
The 76ers’ play-in victory secured the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and a first-round series against the second-seeded Celtics starting on Sunday.
The Magic, led by 34 points from Desmond Bane, will have a last chance to grab the East eighth seed on Friday when they host the Charlotte Hornets, who knocked out the Miami Heat in a 127-126 overtime thriller on Tuesday.
The reward for the winner of Friday’s game will be a first-round series against East top seeds Detroit.

Philadelphia led most of the night, but in a tight, sometimes contentious battle the Magic cut an 11-point deficit midway through the third quarter to one early in the fourth.
Orlando trailed by just four with four minutes remaining, but the Sixers pulled away with a late spurt capped by Drummond’s three-pointer with 41 seconds left.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Josh Hazlewood, who was named Player of the Match for his impactful spell in their five-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 20526, said he felt in “good shape” and adapted well to the slow conditions in Bengaluru. Reflecting on his performance, Hazlewood emphasised the importance of assessing conditions early and adjusting plans accordingly. “Felt much better today, in good shape. Got to look at who you are playing against, conditions play a part, slow wicket today, just had to whack that length,” Hazlewood said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
The Australian pacer also highlighted his ongoing work on variations, particularly slower deliveries, to stay effective in T20 cricket. “I’d like to have a few funky deliveries… always working on those slower balls… keep moving forward,” he added.
Hazlewood further noted that quickly reading match conditions was a key strength for RCB in the contest, helping them restrict LSG to a below-par total. “Summing up the conditions as early as we can is a huge plus for us,” he said.

Looking ahead, the fast bowler expressed confidence about his fitness and availability for the upcoming fixtures, saying he expects to continue featuring regularly in the tournament. “The plan is hopefully to keep playing; the schedule is pretty good here on, so I should be okay to keep playing.”
The defending champions, RCB, registered a dominant five-wicket victory over LSG in IPL 2026 in Bengaluru, chasing down a modest target of 147 with 29 balls to spare.
Virat Kohli anchored the chase with a fluent 49, while Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma provided quick-fire contributions to take RCB comfortably home and push them to the top of the points table.
Earlier, LSG endured a dramatic batting collapse after being asked to bat first and were bowled out for 146. Despite a fighting 40 from Mitchell Marsh, regular wickets and a lack of momentum derailed their innings, with Rasikh Salam Dar starring with a four-wicket haul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood providing key support.

LSG also suffered setbacks, including Rishabh Pant retiring hurt briefly and later falling cheaply, as RCB’s disciplined bowling attack kept them under pressure throughout.
RCB’s all-round performance ensured a convincing win and strengthened their position in the tournament standings.
The defending champions have climbed to the top spot with eight points to their name in five matches. LSG, on the other hand, are at the seventh place with four points in as many matches.

Seeing a thoroughbred complete twelve starts within one preparation is not the norm anymore, though Michael Morrison believes his durable mare Down Under Stunnah remains capable of a competitive effort in her parting start this time around at Ipswich.
Having transferred his stable recently from Beaudesert to Ipswich, Morrison is eager for the five-year-old to notch the breakthrough success for the fresh setup and follow up her January triumph at the course in the Living Turf Benchmark 60 Handicap (2180m) this Thursday from draw two.
“This is her last run for the prep but I think she is well and truly still in good enough order to be going close again,” Morrison said.
The mare held on tenaciously for second, beaten by a whisker, at Ipswich going 2010m on March 6, and then placed fourth over 2030m at Doomben in April.

“She probably for a little bit further back that what is preferable,” he said of the metro midweek outing.
“They didn’t go overly quickly so if made things a little bit difficult, but it was a strong midweek race and I think the top four gapped the rest and she was taking a bit of ground off them late.
“We’re back out again in trip and the good thing about a good gate is that she can land in the good spot without having to do any work early and I think with her, she begins well enough but you also don’t want to have her under pressure early.
“The good gate will allow her to land in a good spot without using any petrol where two starts ago at Ipswich, she had to be used a bit to find a spot and I think that probably made the difference late.

By Under The Louvre from dam Stryking Stunnah, Down Under Stunnah leads her family with two successes and two further placings in thirteen appearances.
Young Queensland resident Brandon Lerena, originally from South Africa, has handled the reins for eight of her past ten starts.
“He’s a strong rider and has great hands in terms of being able to get horses to relax,” Morrison said.
“I think that is very important wherever they are settling to be in that rhythm and give late.

“He’s the perfect rider and probably still underutilised up here and that works in our favour because we usually get first call on him.”
Morrison paired with Lerena has delivered three victories and four placings from 17 rides in the jockey’s recent 100 engagements.

Gerald Ryan intends the Frank Packer Plate at Randwick as a trial for Matias’ endurance limits, confident nonetheless that the three-year-old can manage a solid middle-distance assignment.
Victor of Eagle Farm’s Grand Prix Stakes (1800m) in December, Matias tackles longer than ever before in the 2000m race set for Saturday.
Out of Never Listen by Snitzel, whose reputation leans towards sprinters but includes 2013 Cox Plate winner Shamus Award, Matias’ appeal lies in his dam line according to Ryan.
“His first three dams have either won or been placed in an Oaks,” Ryan said.

“Never Listen is by Trusting and she ran second in a VRC Oaks. Rose O’ War is by Danehill, she ran second in a VRC Oaks and second in a Wakeful (Stakes). His third dam, Savana City, won an AJC Oaks.”
Ryan and co-trainer Sterling Alexiou map out a Queensland winter carnival path for Matias, contingent on Randwick results.
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (8) breaks free for a touchdown run as Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Jalen Redmond (61) pursues from behind at U.S. Bank Stadium. During this offseason, if there has been a better value signing than Jalen Redmond’s exclusive rights tender that keeps him in Minnesota for the 2026 season, I haven’t seen it. The Vikings announced their interest in keeping Redmond a while back, but it became official on Tuesday when the big defensive tackle signed on the dotted line. The deal represents a massive bargain for the Vikings.
Redmond Could Outplay His Contract in 2026
From unwanted in 2023, failing to make the grade as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers, and spending a season playing in the XFL. Redmond’s career trajectory has been done the hard way.
After two seasons with the Vikings, he has quickly become one of the most important players on Brian Flores’s defense, and securing his services for this season at the meager amount of a touch over $1 million is an absolute bargain.

For reference, the Vikings spent $30+ million combined to sign Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen last year. Both have left Minnesota after being comfortably outperformed by Redmond during the 2025 season.
Redmond even got a bonus payday this offseason thanks to the league’s new performance-based payment system. If his performance continues to trend in the same direction, he can expect a big contract to come his way eventually, but for now, the Vikings have a very good player at the minimum price point.
Redmond’s Vikings Career So Far
His more unusual career path has seen Redmond break through as a seemingly young player, even though he turns 27 in March. Minnesota took a chance on him in 2024, and the former Oklahoma Sooner grasped it with both hands.
He fought his way onto the roster and played in 13 games, even finishing the season with two starts. Redmond recorded 18 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups, and despite the two big signings at his position, he was expected to still have a role in 2025.

As it turned out, Redmond appeared in all 17 games for the Vikings last season, officially starting 15. He totaled 62 tackles, six sacks, 36 pressures, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and five pass breakups.
Redmond earned an overall defensive grade of 72.7 from Pro Football Focus in the 2025 season, 22nd among 134 qualified interior defensive linemen. His PFF pass-rush grade of 62.5 ranked 66th among 134 qualified linemen, and his run-defense grade of 72.7 ranked an impressive 10th at the position.
He built on his promising debut season in Minnesota and cemented himself as a vital part of the Vikings defense – bringing him back for the 2026 season was a no-brainer. I would hope Redmond’s stay in Minnesota extends beyond a third season, but that decision will come down the line.
For now, the Vikings have a very good player for a very low price. Redmond has been one of the best acquisitions made by the team in recent years.

Carl Froch has offered his honest thoughts on a potential clash between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn, who has maintained his desire to face the WBC world welterweight champion.
But despite the dominant nature of Benn’s 10-round performance, many have highlighted the fact he was facing a faded, injured and physically inferior opponent.
The former two-time world champion also seemed undersized at their catchweight of 150lbs, which Benn had successfully made after dropping down from middleweight.
Should he face Garcia, then ‘The Destroyer’ would need to make 147lbs for the first time since 2022, when he secured a second-round finish over Chris van Heerden.
It was several months after this performance that Benn twice tested positive for clomifene, a banned substance, while Garcia’s failed drugs tests arrived in 2024.

But despite their controversial history, there is a good chance that the pair will collide in the near future, especially with Benn boasting a No.1 WBC welterweight ranking.
Discussing their possible showdown, Froch said on his YouTube channel, Froch On Fighting, that he favours Garcia to take care of business.
“In his post-fight interview with Anna Woolhouse, [Benn] said, ‘Listen, I want the Ryan Garcia fight’.
“He’s got to take off another 3lbs, to make him even more drained – down at an even lower weight – against someone who punches hard; someone who’s very capable.
“I think that’s a tough fight for Conor.”

A British climber who vowed to carrying on mountaineering after an “horrifying” experience in the Himalayas has completed her 20th expedition.
Fay Manners, from Bedford, established a new mixed climbing route on the north-north-east face of Tête Biselx, a 11,509ft (3,509-metre) granite peak in the Swiss Alps near Chamonix, France.
In 2024, Manners and her climbing partner Michelle Dvorak became stranded on Chaukhamba mountain in northern India, when the rope lifting their things snapped and plummeted.
Manners said that after an initial setback this latest expedition was a success, as “the mountain gods smiled on us, and we managed to find a safe and viable route forward”.
No one had ever attempted to tackle this ascent route on Tête Biselx before.

The idea for the ascent came from a ski tour in the region in April 2024.
Manners skied the Copt Couloir near the Trient Plateau and observed the mountain’s north face. From below, she began to question which lines had already been climbed – and in what style.

‘Uncertainty crept in’
Before the climb, Manners and her climbing partner Ella Wright studied the granite walls, searching for a line that felt logical.
It was important that the route, since named “La Muse de Trient”, finished directly on the ridge, offering a fitting conclusion to their expedition.
The two-day climb was a highly technical affair, with the pair tackling ice and rock using tools and crampons and removable protection for safety.
At one point, Manners said she doubted if they would be able to make their way up the mountain.
“On day one, after a beautiful corner, the rockface turned into a technical slab with minimal protection, forcing us to take a very long, traverse beneath a large roof,” she said.

“This is when uncertainty crept in and we really questioned what lay above and whether we would be able to continue the next day.”

Growing up in Blunham, Bedfordshire, Manners attended Bedford Girls School before studying information science at Loughborough University.
She now lives in Chamonix, known as the birthplace of mountaineering and host to the first Winter Olympics in 1924.
Climbing new routes allowed her to “reconnect with the most fundamental essence of mountaineering”, she said.
“I am living proof that is it possible to break boundaries and complete new technical routes, regardless of where you come from or how you started,” Manners added.
