A former WWE Champion has seemingly confirmed his departure from the Stamford-based promotion. While doing so, the star also hinted at his plans for the future.
Earlier today, Fightful Select reported that Sheamus will soon be bidding adieu to the global juggernaut. The Celtic Warrior was reportedly approached by the company about a restructured contract while he was out injured. However, the veteran rejected it and opted to leave the company after his contract expires in the coming months.
Thanks for the submission!

Soon after the news broke out, Sheamus made massive changes to his social media handles. Not only did he change the usernames of his X (Formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts, he also replaced the “WWE Superstar” written in his bio with “Pro Wrestler.” This change confirms that he would continue to wrestle following his departure from the company.

Sheamus sustained a shoulder injury right before his quarterfinal match in the Last Time Is Now Tournament in November. He had to undergo surgery the following month to nurse the injury and has been absent from WWE programming ever since.
Sheamus previously spoke about his potential retirement from WWE
Speaking during an appearance on an episode of RAW Recap in November 2025, Sheamus answered questions about his retirement from World Wrestling Entertainment.
The Irish star stated that he still had great intensity and felt like he was just getting started. He recalled his recently contested match against JD McDonagh and claimed that he would retire from professional wrestling the day he could no longer give his all inside the squared circle.
“I think it’s the intensity that’s something that I’ve always leaned into, and that’s really what sets me apart. I feel like that’s why I’m still in the game. You know, people talk about John Cena retiring, and I think he’s like a year older than me, and I feel like I’m just getting started. Last week, I was in there with JD [McDonagh], man, and just ripping it up… The day I don’t go out there and give 100% or give it everything that I possibly have every single match—I don’t care if it’s RAW, SmackDown, NXT, or if it’s Main Event that they tape before the show—I won’t go out there and not give everything I have in every single match, and especially with my neck,” Sheamus said.
The 48-year-old had been an integral part of WWE programming for a large portion of the last two decades. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the veteran following his WWE exit.

Alireza Faghani will take charge of England’s blockbuster World Cup last-16 tie against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday night.
The 48-year-old Australian official, who migrated from Iran in 2019 and has refereed under the Australian flag since 2023, is officiating in his third Fifa World Cup this summer.
He took charge of four matches in Russia in 2018, most notably France’s 4-3 win over Argentina in the last-16 and England’s defeat to Belgium in the third-place play-off. Faghani also officiated Mexico’s 1-0 win over Germany in that tournament.
Faghani only took charge of two group-stage matches at the last World Cup in Qatar but has already courted controversy this summer, after he opted not to give France a penalty in their opening game against Senegal despite a VAR review showing contact on Kylian Mbappe. He also took charge of the goalless draw between Colombia and Portugal.

Mexico vs. England: Harry Kane to score anytime (+180)
Mexico vs. England: Harry Kane to score anytime (+180)
“England have a trump card in Kane. He has scored five times in four games at this tournament, and he got his team out of jail by scoring two late goals in that 2-1 victory over DR Congo,” SportsLine soccer expert Martin Green said. “Kane has scored a goal every 71 minutes at this tournament, and he’ll be unfazed by the prospect of facing Mexico, so backing him to score looks appealing. It’s rare to find odds of +180 on such a prolific forward to find the back of the net, even when playing against such a stout defense, so that looks like a strong option.” Back Kane at DraftKings here and claim $200 in bonus bets instantly after your first $5 wager as a new user:
While Tulloch Lodge generally maintains its lofty standards, they have experienced a lighter two-year-old season. However, their primary stable rider, Tim Clark, is predicting that the current crop of juveniles will significantly enhance their performance as they turn three.
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have trained 14 juvenile winners from 92 starters throughout the 2025-26 racing term, a contrast to the 20 winners from 119 runners in the 2024-25 season. This follows back-to-back successful seasons, where they celebrated 35 (2023-24) and 37 (2022-23) two-year-old victories respectively.
With The Rosebud (1100m), the first three-year-old stakes race of the new season, just six weeks away, many of this season’s youngsters are already commencing their preparations for their seasonal returns. Clark is optimistic about the future of Tulloch Lodge.
“The Rosebud and San Domenico Stakes, they come up pretty quickly, so those two-year-olds rising three are starting to roll back in,” Clark commented. “There are some nice horses among them.”

When asked to single out a horse that had impressed him since returning, Clark selected the filly By Choice. A winner on her debut at Randwick in December, the daughter of Written Tycoon also secured placings in the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast and in two Golden Slipper lead-up races.
Clark believes she has furnished well and anticipates her making a considerable impact in the early-season three-year-old races. “I haven’t been on too many of them yet, but By Choice raced through a Magic Millions and lined up in the Slipper lead-ups. Physically, she looks to have really strengthened and come back in good order,” Clark stated. “The Princess Series races might suit her. She gives the impression she will run a strong mile, so she is definitely one that physically looks like she has made good improvement.”
The Princess Series, comprising four races, begins with the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) on August 22 and culminates with the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 3. By Choice is a filly to watch as the season progresses.

Pub-goers undeterred by delay as 5am closing time edges
If the matche is pushed back further, pubs risk having to chuck punters out mid-game with extended hours only going up to 5am on Monday.
Pubs in England and Wales are allowed to stay open until 5am on Monday, Keir Starmer announced last week. Licensing hours had already been extended for the World Cup from 11pm to 1am for games with kick-offs from 5pm up to 9pm and up until 2am for kick-offs between 9pm and 10pm.
Ally Wolf, general manager at the Clapham Grand told The Independent: “We’re going to put all of our trust in the Mexican weather. Failing that we’re going to put all of our trust in Keir Starmer that he’s so desperate to end on such a high that he personally is going to make a few phone calls and authorise all of us to continue to stay open until our wonderful football team bring it home.”

Norway boss tears into Fifa over ‘big mistake’ to overturn Balogun ban
Solbakken said: “I think that is a big mistake by Fifa, I think it is not a great conclusion that he has got a red card and the VAR concluded it was a red card, he was sent off, that means you are suspended for one game and I think what is really bad about that situation is it will be only United States now.

Wayne Rooney to row down the River Mersey or Hudson River after Norway win?
“If Norway go to the quarter-finals I’ll go to the River Mersey and I’ll row down,” Wayne Rooney tells BBC Sport before Norway beat Brazil to reach the last eight.
“I’m a man of my word, Micah has agreed to do it with me. And Gabby [Logan] has as well. They’ve agreed to.
“I’ll row, that’s no problem, it might have to be the Hudson River in New York, if BBC can sort that?”

Micah Richards: ‘Fifa need to do better’
Micah Richards adds: “It makes a mockery of the whole tournament, if that happens tonight, you’ve done it for Ronaldo and Balogun, it’s to keep the big stars in the competition, we all know what it is. How can that happen? We have to be real about it.
“Fifa need to do better. We have to be honest about the situation, it’s left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths. When the integrity comes into question, for that to happen, it’s just not good enough.”

Tuchel on delays and altitude
Speaking to the BBC before the delay was confirmed, he said: “I haven’t [prepared], we can’t influence it, we adapt while it’s coming. We’ll see, let’s wait and see until any delays are announced and adapt.”
On the altitude, he adds: “I was a bit out of breath in my meetings. Maybe it’s altitude, maybe it’s tension. First night didn’t sleep so well, second night was easier. Let’s play the match. First 15 or 20 minutes we might feel it. After that we will be fine.”
On Saka and Gordon starting, he says: “Why not? Last game Noni and Rashy started. For me it was very clear to do a rotation there. Top players for us. We need all 16 to push us over the line.”

As a result, the 29-year-old now holds the WBO and WBA titles at 154lbs, putting him in position for a three-belt unification match with either Sebastian Fundora or Josh Kelly.
The latter champion claimed his IBF title by defusing explosive puncher Bakhram Murtazaliev in January, when a classy performance earned him a majority decision triumph.
Fundora, meanwhile, comes off a successful WBC title defence against Keith Thurman, who he stopped in round six of their one-sided encounter in March.
According to his promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, ‘The Towering Inferno’ will face mandatory challenger Ermal Hadribeaj later this year, ruling him out of a 2026 showdown with Ennis.
At the same time, though, ‘Boots’ has told Put’cha Gloves On that his preferred opponent is Fundora, who claimed his WBC title with a split decision victory over Tim Tszyu in 2024.
“I want Fundora. Bring on that tall [Towering Inferno]. We’re gonna chop him down; chop him down easy.”
While ‘Boots’ highlighted the 6ft 6in southpaw as his main target, father and trainer ‘Bozy’ Ennis equally said they would be eager to face Kelly.
Interestingly enough, neither man mentioned Vergil Ortiz Jr, who has long been on a collision course with Ennis but is yet to win a world title.
Manny Pacquiao’s plans for the remainder of 2026 have been forced to pivot after his proposed rematch with Floyd Mayweather was pushed back indefinitely.
The eight-division world champion returned to professional boxing last year, fighting then-WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a draw. Pacquiao has repeatedly insisted that he is not yet finished with the sport and has been targeting one final run of high-profile fights.
A rematch with long-time rival Mayweather had been expected to headline his schedule, but those plans were put on hold after the American’s ongoing legal issues delayed negotiations.
As a result, Pacquiao’s team are now exploring alternative options to keep the Filipino icon active before any eventual meeting with ‘Money’.
Speaking to The Ring Magazine, CEO of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, Jas Mathur, confirmed that the team were actively working on a new opportunity for the 47-year-old, and signalled that he believes the Mayweather fight will take place after that.
“We’re working on it. We’re looking at different options. We want to be very careful, of course – we are under contract at this time – but yes, we are working on trying to get an alternate fight or something in place for Manny at this moment. We want it to be the right opportunity with the right partners, and also so he has enough time for his camp against Floyd.”
Should he look to make a second attempt at breaking his own world record as the oldest welterweight world champion, he must target Devin Haney, Rolando Romero, Ryan Garcia or Liam Paro.
Chris Gotterup fired a remarkable nine-under 62 to come back and win the John Deere Classic on Sunday for his third PGA Tour title of the season and fifth of his career.
In a spectacular last 12 months, Gotterup has won four times, and he’s changed very little in his golf bag. The only minor change to his bag from his wins earlier this season was a switch from a TaylorMade Qi35 5-wood to a newer Qi4D 7-wood.
The most notable piece of gear in his bag, however, is his Bridgestone Tour B X golf ball with MindSet. Gotterup switched to the most updated version of Bridgestone’s flagship Tour golf ball at the beginning of the season and immediately won two of the first four events of the year.
At the putter, Gotterup continues to employ a heavily lead-taped Spider Tour X L-Neck and notches the 10th victory for the TaylorMade putter family, the most on Tour after the company led the Tour in putter victories a year ago too.
For more on Gotterup’s detailed setup, keep reading below.

The G440 driver family (MAX, LST, SFT) is optimized to deliver more ball speed through multiple advancements, including PING’s deepest CG in a driver to date and a shallower, thinner face, while continuing to ensure the game-changing forgiveness expected from a PING driver. The G440 LST (Low Spin) design appeals to players with faster swing speeds, providing lower spin and more control in 9° and 10.5° lofts with the three-position back weight.
HIGHLY FORGIVING
Lighter head weight allows for heavier back weight.
FASTER FACE
Shallow, thinner, face increases ball speed for more distance, higher launch.
SOUND DESIGN
New shaping, carbon crown and internal ribs produce muted impact experience.
FREE-HOSEL DESIGN
Saves weight to lower CG, increase forgiveness. Allows for more heel-side face flexing for consistent ball speed across face.
Just when you thought HZRDUS Black couldn’t get any better, it did. One of the most successful low launch/spin shaft models of the past decade continues to innovate with the addition of our new 4D Optimized Carbon weave. Strategically utilized in the midsection, the part of the golf shaft that undergoes the most stress, and angled for improved torsional resistance, HZRDUS Gen 5 Black powered by 4D Optimized Carbon is designed to enhance performance and maximize energy transfer like never before.
PERFORMANCE FOR THE MODERN PLAYER
Inspired by one of the most iconic models in TaylorMade history, the R7 Quad Mini Driver pays homage to what’s come before, while creating its own modern identity in the same breath. It’s that very modern design that incorporates proven TaylorMade technologies to give golfers versatility and playability.
R7 QUAD WEIGHTING SYSTEM
The new quad weighting system features four movable weights (13g x2, 4g x2) that provide the ultimate in spin management and shot shape control. Forward CG creates a penetrating flight best suited for maximizing distance whereas rear CG helps prioritize control and ease of use from the deck. Shot shape can also be fine-tuned helping create the most optimal flight. Additional weights can be purchased for a wider range of adjustability.
INFINITY CARBON CROWN
A new satin Infinity Carbon Crown has been added to the R7 Quad Mini Driver chassis creating a stunning look while saving weight for better mass optimization. The cosmetic package is clean, elegant, and confidence-inspiring.
TaylorMade Fairways have dominated on Tour for over a decade because of their unique performance recipe, which enables maximum distance and versatility.
The Qi4D fairway is designed for golfers who want the most advanced technology while still prioritizing versatility and control with amazing distance.

ADJUSTABLE PERFORMANCE
Utilizing a single Trajectory Adjustment System weight (8g x1) provides the golfer a more mass efficient way to adjust flight, spin and swing weight.
4° loft sleeve can be used to adjust loft, lie and face angle for optimized flight and is available in all lofts.
REFINED ATTRIBUTES, BIG CHANGES
Engineers conducted an objective analysis of all the performance attributes and discovered new methods to enhance performance and confidence.
Sit points, lie angles, address views, and center of gravity locations were all updated based on Tour feedback and the expertise of leading fitters worldwide, ensuring the optimal fairway across skill levels.

FORGED FEEL
Incredible feel is a must for having a great wedge game. MG5 has been forged from soft carbon steel and designed with geometry to provide excellent feel with great feedback.
MAXIMUM SPIN
MG5 uses all-new, more aggressive grooves designed to maximize spin. Saw-milled grooves produce tighter tolerances allowing engineers to design steeper walls and sharper radii intended to maximize spin in both dry and damp conditions.
PERFORMANCE IN ALL CONDITIONS
RAW face with Spin Tread technology channels away moisture to help retain spin. The same way that tire treads help your car stay connected to the road, laser-etched channels redirect water at impact and creates more friction between the club face and golf ball to maintain spin in wet conditions.
CRAFTSMANSHIP MEETS CONSISTENCY
Crafted by hand and then milled to perfection. Each wedge and sole grind are precision-milled to eliminate the natural human error that comes with hand polishing. Our grinds deliver unmatched consistency and craftsmanship that players can count on every time.
CHARCOAL FINISH
MG5 debuts a sleek, sophisticated charcoal finish that reduces glare and enhances its aesthetic appeal in the bag.
SPIDER TOUR X L-NECK
For nearly two decades Spider putters have been delivering championship-winning stability and performance to professionals and amateurs alike. Scottie Scheffler recently joined this group by stepping into the winner’s circle for the third time in four starts with a Spider Tour X L-Neck in the bag.
TRUE PATH™ ALIGNMENT
Navigate the greens with clarity with the optically-engineered True Path™ Alignment system. This legacy tech from TaylorMade helps you better visualize the line to the hole while also making it easier to aim the putter towards your target.

One of the most anticipated matchups of the World Cup knockout round will have to wait, for now. The Round of 16 match between Mexico and England has been delayed due to inclement weather in Mexico City.
The match was supposed to kick off at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local time) at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium, but has now been reportedly pushed back one hour to 9 p.m. ET.
Fans in the stadium were told to shelter in place about three hours before kickoff due to an approaching thunderstorm.

With two hours to go before the game, England and Mexico’s teams were told to not travel to the stadium because of the lightning risk, via Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports. England, though, ignored that advice and made its way to the stadium, where it was greeted by Mexican fans.
Sunday evening’s storm was a known concern ahead of the matchup: On Friday, FIFA reportedly considered moving the game up by several hours to avoid the storm, with a proposed start time of noon local time. The suggestion received pushback from Mexico head coach Javier Aguirre on Friday.
“It’s a kick in the stomach. This changes everything,” Aguirre said, via The Independent’s Miguel Delaney. “They informed me about it here, I don’t agree, FIFA calls the shots and we have to swallow garlic and water (grin and bear it).
“Now we have to change our plans, nobody consulted me. Neither I nor my players like this change. I’m pissed off.”
Eventually, FIFA decided to keep kickoff as is. But the game is now facing potentially lengthy delays as a result of the weather.
England‘s World Cup last-16 match with Mexico has been delayed by one hour because of severe weather and is set to kick off at 02:00 BST (19:00 local time).
There has been heavy rain in Mexico City during the day and reports of lightning above the Azteca Stadium, which is staging the match.

Play cannot begin until 30 minutes have passed since lightning was last detected within an eight-mile radius of the stadium.

Fifa held talks with the English and Mexican football associations on Friday after proposing the match be moved to 19:00 BST on Sunday (12:00 local time) before a U-turn resulted in the kick-off time remaining unchanged.
The game will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC Sport website and app.
