Terence Crawford picks a winner in Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia rematch: “He’s not smart enough”

Published

on

Over two years ago, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia birthed one of boxing’s most fierce rivalries, but both now reign as world champions in the welterweight division.

In April 2024, Garcia had been poised to challenge for Haney’s WBC super-lightweight world title, but ‘King Ry’ lost that opportunity when he weighed in three pounds over the 140lb limit.

The bout went ahead and in a shocking turn of events, the presumedly ill-prepared Garcia was dominant, flooring the champion on three occasions on route to a majority-decision victory.

Yet, the drama was not done there, as Garcia later tested positive for Ostarine, with Haney appealing the result of the fight and having it overturned to a no-contest.

Haney has since gone on to capture the WBO welterweight crown, whilst Garcia claimed the WBC world title earlier this year. Speaking on the Ring Champs YouTube channel, former welterweight undisputed champion, Terence Crawford, predicted that Haney would get the better of Garcia, if a unification rematch were to take place.

“Ryan Garcia [is] cool but he ain’t smart enough [to beat elite fighters]. It’s just that he and Devin fought each other so many times [in the amateurs], they just know each other.

“I think that all of the antics before the fight distracted Devin and caught him off guard, he took Ryan lightly.

“I do [think it would be different if they fought again] because, if you watch the fight, he was just getting hit with the same punch over and over and over.”

Garcia is set to defend his world title for the first time when he is tasked with Conor Benn on Saturday, September 12, whilst Haney is still waiting to confirm an opponent for his first outing of 2026.

Fix this common flaw to stabilize the clubface and improve contact

Published

on

I, along with my good friend and fellow GOLF Top 100 Teacher Wayne Flint, have been working with Buddy Hansen, one of the better amateurs in the Philadelphia area, on a swing fault we see at every level of the game. As Buddy approached impact, his chest would stall. When that happens, the hands and arms have to take over the release. This is no good because any release pattern that relies on hand timing instead of proper body sequencing is going to be less reliable and predictable.

For Buddy, it showed up most in his iron play. He simply wasn’t striking the ball as solidly as he wanted. He could hit a great shot, but the misses were inconsistent. His swing didn’t need a rebuild, it just needed a tune-up in one specific area.

You don’t have to spin your chest at top speed to play great golf, but it does need to keep moving (instead of stalling) through the downswing. We addressed it with a series of feels and drills designed to keep his pivot moving. You can see the entire progression in the latest episode of our Pro Work series below.

How to keep from stalling in the downswing

To start, we had Buddy allow his head to drift slightly to the right as he turned back, making it easier for his chest to complete its turn. Think of it like winding a spring. The more fully you load the spring in the backswing, the more energy you can release on the way down.

Players who stall through impact also tend to lose their posture, with the hips moving closer to the golf ball. That pushes the swing direction out to the right, and the club approaches impact on a much steeper, more upright plane. From a ground-pressure standpoint, it often feels as though pressure moves out toward the toes of the lead foot — if it ever fully gets to the lead side at all.

Instead of standing up to create space, we wanted Buddy to keep turning his chest. One feel that really helped was paying attention to where the pressure finished in his lead foot. Rather than moving toward the toes, it needed to feel as though it was settling into the heel, a good indication that his body was continuing to rotate around instead of standing up.

Once you understand that sensation, try this drill. Have a friend stand facing you a safe distance away and hold a club shaft straight out at about elbow height while taking a couple of steps toward the target side. As you swing, it should feel as though the club travels around and underneath the guide shaft. If your chest stalls and you lose your posture, you’ll immediately feel as though the club wants to move upward into the shaft. (Just make sure your friend is standing far enough away that even a poor swing can’t actually hit it.)

Even highly skilled players with plenty of clubhead speed fall into this pattern because standing up out of posture creates the sensation of having more room to swing the arms faster. It’s one of golf’s classic illusions: what feels more powerful is often less efficient. Keeping the chest turning through impact improves contact, stabilizes the clubface and ultimately produces more consistent ball speed.

The Pakistan Boxing Federation has again come under the scrutiny after boxer Qudratullah slipped away from the team hotel at the end of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It is not the first time that the PBF has come under the spotlight for the wrong reasons as in the past in nearly every big international event there have been instances of boxers slipping away in foreign countries. A reliable source close to the Pakistan Olympic Association said on Tuesday that Qudratullah after competing in his weight division in the CWG vanished from the team hotel.

“The interesting thing is Qudratullah disappeared despite his passport being with the team manager,” the source added.

Even during the 2022 Commonwealth Games two national boxers, Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan disappeared in Birmingham although their passports reportedly were with the contingent head.

In the World Olympic Qualifiers in Italy in 2024, Asian gold medallist boxer, Zohaib Rasheed stole his roommates foreign currency and valuables and vanished in Busto Arsizio town.

The 36-member Pakistan contingent returned home from Glasgow with just one bronze medal won by female boxer Fatima Zehra.

🔥 Roma hit four, Newport KO! Castro, Koulierakis score, Gasp smiles 🤩

Published

on

After the defeat against Cardiff, Roma responded in the best possible way and cruised past Newport with a clear 4-1 win. It was a poor first half, with the Giallorossi first surviving a strike off the woodwork by Beggins before taking the lead right at the end of the half thanks to Hermoso.

In the second half, Gasperini’s side shifted gears and ran away with it: Castro doubled the lead from the penalty spot, Koulierakis celebrated his first goal in a Giallorossi shirt, and Soulé put the seal on the victory. Late on, Cameron scored a consolation goal for Newport, but it did not change the substance of a test comfortably dominated by Roma.

Now focus turns to the next fixtures, with Gasperini’s team set to face Brighton (August 8 at 15:00) and then Borussia Dortmund (August 15 at 17:30).

4️⃣ Roma hit four! Soulé makes it 4-0

Roma put the game completely to bed through Matias Soulé who, in the 81st minute, made it 4-0 at the end of one of his trademark moves: he collected Hermoso’s assist, cut inside, and then unleashed a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

7-time WWE Champion Confirms He’s Officially Retired

Published

on

WWE SummerSlam was filled with enthralling matches and moments as we witnessed the end of the Shield storyline, in addition to the culmination of the feud between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar. While Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will never wrestle each other again, it turns out that Lesnar will not wrestle anyone ever again.

The Beast Incarnate faced Oba Femi at SummerSlam, in what was the third match between the two powerhouses. The Ruler got the win in the culmination match to win the feud 2-1, after which he also earned the Beast Incarnate’s respect.

There were speculations of Brock Lesnar retiring after SummerSlam, and now the Beast Incarnate has officially confirmed the news. During an appearance on the Pat McAfee show, the 7-time WWE Champion made it clear that he won’t don his wrestling boots again:

“I’m here today to do this interview to let the world and everybody know that I’m retired. I want to say a big thank you to everybody. Saturday was a very emotional day for me. When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, ‘I can’t do this again. I think I am done.’ Saturday for Brock Lesnar, that’s it. That’s it for me in the squared circle and everything else too.”

Lesnar also thanked the fans who have been with him throughout his journey:

“I just want to give a shoutout to everybody on this universe that has followed me since I was a little kid, all the way to Saturday. I was just a farm kid from South Dakota with a big dream, and a big heart and a big a** chip on my shoulder. I am just grateful.”

Brock Lesnar has been moved to the alumni section of WWE.com

Before Brock Lesnar’s official announcement about his future, WWE moved him to the alumni section of their website, which further fueled the rumors of his retirement. However, with the Beast Incarnate himself confirming his in-ring status, all speculations have been put to rest.

Brock Lesnar joined WWE in 2000, without any prior pro wrestling experience. He made his TV debut in 2002, alongside Paul Heyman. The duo took the wrestling world by storm as Lesnar became one of the most dominant stars of all time.

The Beast Incarnate left the global juggernaut in 2004; he returned eight years later. He has competed sporadically since then and won multiple titles. However, his wrestling chapter was closed on Saturday, when he suffered a loss to Oba Femi.
