Prime Video’s Divisive Sci-Fi With This ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Is Better Than Its Rotten Tomatoes Score Suggests

Published

on

Stephan James and Lena Headey in Beacon 23

Throughout eight seasons of Game of Thrones, some characters went from being fan favorites to all-around TV icons. Among them, of course, was Lena Headey‘s Cersei Lannister, a cutthroat leader who’s hungry for power and fiercely protective of her family. Headey played Cersei with precision, making viewers scream in their seats at some of her most narcissistic moments, yet also feel for her in her most vulnerable ones (“Shame! Shame!”).

And, ever since Game of Thrones wrapped back in 2019, Headey has continued to be a part of some memorable projects, many of which are far from her power-grabbing shenanigans in Westeros. Among her projects is Beacon 23, a psychological sci-fi thriller series on MGM+ that first released in 2023. The series, which was canceled after Season 2, received a lukewarm reception from viewers and critics alike, but is definitely still a worthwhile watch for fans of Headey’s work.

What Is ‘Beacon 23’ About?

Set in the 23rd century, Beacon 23 sees Headey as Aster, a government agent of some kind whose ship has crashed, and she finds herself trapped in one of many Beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. There, she meets stoic veteran Halan (Stephan James), and while there are suspicions and animosity between them at first, the two soon realize that they might benefit more from being friends than foes. With only the structure’s artificial intelligence to serve as company, Aster and Halan need to work together to understand each other, rely on one another and together defend themselves against “The Artifact,” a strange cosmic object that affects people psychologically and physically.

By Season 2 of the series, which premiered in April 2024, Aster and Halan’s Beacon has been turned into a prison. “Without a clear path forward, the inhabitants of Beacon 23 must rely on each other, but their conflicting agendas may get in the way,” the official synopsis teased. The series, which was based on the 2016 novel by the same name by Hugh Howey, was created by Zak Penn, and also stars Natasha Mumba, Eric Lange, Ellen Wong, Wade Bogert-O’Brien, and Bo Martynowska.

Paul Atreides

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

  • You see further ahead than others and you plan accordingly, even when the vision frightens you.
  • You are driven by loyalty to your people and a sense of destiny you didn’t ask for but can’t escape.
  • Paul Atreides is not simply a hero — he is someone who understands the cost of power and chooses to bear it anyway.
  • That gravity, that willingness to carry what others won’t, is exactly you.

USS Enterprise · Star Trek

Captain Kirk

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

  • You take the mission seriously without ever taking yourself too seriously.
  • Your crew would follow you anywhere, not because you demand it, but because you’ve earned it.
  • Kirk’s genius isn’t tactical — it’s human. He reads people, bends rules with purpose, and wills outcomes into existence through sheer conviction.
  • That combination of warmth, audacity, and relentless optimism is unmistakably yours.

The Rebellion · Star Wars

Princess Leia

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

  • You lead through conviction. Your voice carries because your belief is unshakeable.
  • You gave up everything ordinary the moment you chose the cause, and you’ve never looked back.
  • Leia is not a supporting character in her own story — she is the moral centre of the entire rebellion.
  • That same fierce, principled, unbreakable core is what defines you.

The Nostromo · Alien

Ellen Ripley

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

  • You see threats clearly, you document the truth even when no one listens, and when the time comes you handle it yourself.
  • Ripley’s heroism is earned, not performed. She doesn’t have a speech — she has a flamethrower and a plan.
  • You share her composure under the worst possible pressure, and her refusal to pretend the monster isn’t there.
  • When it counts, you don’t flinch. That’s everything.

The Wasteland · Mad Max

Max Rockatansky

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.

  • You don’t ask for help, don’t need validation, and don’t wait for anyone to tell you the rules no longer apply.
  • Your loyalty, when it finally arrives, is absolute — but it’s earned in silence and tested in action, not in words.
  • Max is not a nihilist. He is someone who lost everything and found, against his will, that he still has something worth protecting.
  • That bruised, stubborn, ultimately human core is exactly yours.

‘Beacon 23’ Received Mixed Reviews

Ever since its release, Beacon 23 has received mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, for instance, some critics point out the show’s slow pacing and “empty lore,” while others praise the series for having a more cerebral approach to the sci-fi genre. “Those with enough curiosity and patience to wait out its rough patches — and those with a taste for cerebral sci-fi — may find themselves falling under its plaintive spell,” wrote one review. “While the show is slower in its storytelling, each episode layers on the complications, culminating in an urgent and tense finale, that’s only hampered by its lack of answers,” asserted another.

The 25 Best Quotes from ‘Game of Thrones,’ Ranked

“You win, or you die.”

In Collider’s very own review by Chase Hutchinson in 2023, the series received an underwhelming score of C. “Rather than reveling in the simplicity of two people trying to figure out what is going on while in the company of someone they may not trust, there is a repeated sense that narrative filler is being forced into the season to pad it out into eight episodes,” Hutchinson outlined. “Though a confined setting could become more thrilling if the characters in it were given more to work with, like with the other strong MGM+ series From, both Headey and James are saddled with a story that consistently drags them down until there is little to hold it together in the final stretch.”

With all that said, while the divisive reception and early cancelation might be enough to sway viewers away from the series, Beacon 23 is undoubtedly an interesting and intriguing addition to the sci-fi genre. With a cerebral tone and a focus on two characters learning whether they can trust each other, the series becomes much more than the dangers of space and intergalactic travel.

‘Chicago Fire’ Is About To Make a Big Mistake With This Character’s Exit in Season 14’s Finale

Published

on

A firefighter lying on the ground in Chicago Fire.

Chicago Fire‘s Season 14 finale ended with a bang. Literally. An explosion caught almost the entirety of Firehouse 51 off-guard: some were engulfed in its fury while trying frantically to scurry back down the ladder, and others were trapped inside the basement of the building, their desperate cries of “Mayday” coming across the radio. It’s events like these that rarely end well for at least one character. The Season 7 finale, in similar circumstances, prompted the death of firefighter Brian “Otis” Zvonecek (Yuri Sardarov) in the line of duty at the start of Season 8.

But if so, who? The only sure bets to survive are Violet (Hanako Greensmith), Novak (Jocelyn Hudon), and Chief Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), who could only look on in horror from the sidelines. Both Taylor Kinney and Miranda Rae Mayo have signed on for Season 15, so it seems unlikely that “Stellaride” is done. That leaves every other member of Firehouse 51 as a potential victim, but all the signs point to one character: David Eigenberg’s Christopher Herrmann. And it shouldn’t be.

‘Chicago Fire’s Season 14 Finale “Thank You” Drops Hints About Herrmann’s Fate

The finale, titled “Thank You,” begins in the moments just prior to the explosion before flashing back to the days leading up to it. For Herrmann, it means that the family’s home is about to be reconstructed on the original site after having burned down earlier in the season. In a sense, the Herrmann’s are on the precipice of a new beginning, and to that end, Christopher proposes a renewal of vows with Cindy (Robyn Coffin), his long-time wife. They plan on having the vow renewal at Molly’s with the theme of gratitude, with Cindy, Novak and Violet working out the details. It’s a beautiful moment, but one that later has Herrmann pondering retirement, recognizing the strain that is placed upon Cindy and their kids every time he goes out on a call.

Your Assignment Has Been Made
You Belong In…

Your answers have pointed to one fictional hospital above all others. This is the ward your instincts, your temperament, and your particular brand of dysfunction were built for.

Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center

The Pitt
Advertisement

You are built for the most unsparing version of emergency medicine television has ever shown — one that puts you inside a single fifteen-hour shift and doesn’t let you look away.

  • You need your work to be real, not romanticised — meaning over drama, honesty over aesthetics.
  • You find purpose inside the work itself, not in the chaos surrounding it.
  • You’ve made peace with the fact that this job takes from you constantly, and gives back in ways that are harder to name.
  • Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center demands exactly that kind of person — and you would not want to be anywhere else.

County General Hospital, Chicago

ER
Advertisement

You are the person who keeps the whole floor running — not the most brilliant in the room, but possibly the most essential.

  • You show up, do the work, absorb the losses, and come back the next day without needing the job to be anything other than what it is.
  • You care about patients as individual human beings, not as cases to solve or dramas to live through.
  • You believe in the system even when it fails you — and you understand that emergency medicine is about holding the line just long enough.
  • ER is television about endurance. You have it.

Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, Seattle

Grey’s Anatomy
Advertisement

You came to medicine with your whole self — your ambition, your emotions, your relationships, your history — and you have never quite managed to leave any of it at the door.

  • You feel things fully and form deep attachments to the people you work with.
  • Your personal and professional lives are permanently, chaotically entangled — and that entanglement drives both your greatest disasters and your most remarkable saves.
  • You understand that extraordinary medicine often happens at the intersection of clinical skill and profound human connection.
  • It’s messy at Grey Sloan. You would not have it any other way.

Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, NJ

House
Advertisement

You are drawn to the problem above everything else — the symptom that doesn’t fit, the diagnosis hiding underneath the obvious one.

  • You’re not primarily motivated by the patient as a person — though you are capable of caring, even if you’d deny it.
  • You work best when the stakes are highest and the standard answer is wrong.
  • Princeton-Plainsboro exists to house one extraordinary, impossible mind — and everyone around that mind is there because they’re smart enough to keep up.
  • The only way forward here is to think harder than everyone else in the room. That is exactly what you do.

Sacred Heart Hospital, California

Scrubs
Advertisement

You understand that medicine is tragic and absurd in almost equal measure — and that the only sane response is to hold both of those things at the same time.

  • You are warm, self-aware, and funnier than most people in your field.
  • You use humour to get through terrible moments — and at Sacred Heart, that’s not a flaw, it’s a survival strategy.
  • You lean on the people around you and let them lean back. The laughter and the grief are genuinely inseparable here.
  • Scrubs is a show about learning to become someone worthy of the job. You are still very much in the middle of that process — which is exactly right.

And there it is, a big old moment that might as well be decked out in neon and singing, “I’m an obvious hint! Look at me!” It is, for all intents and purposes, a retirony, the trope that seals the fate of a character in a dangerous job who’s only a few days away from retirement, i.e. Colonel Henry Blake dying on his flight home in M*A*S*H. Furthermore, as the inferno rages, the camera cuts to the unsuspecting wives of three possible victims: Mouch’s (Christian Stolte) wife Trudy (Amy Morton); Cruz’s (Joe Minoso) wife Chloe (Kristen Gutoskie); and Cindy.

The Cruz’s just found out they’re having twins, so that should rule Cruz out, being far too tragic and hard to justify. That leaves Mouch and Herrmann, but with the heavy focus on Herrmann this episode, it leaves him the odds-on-favorite. Finally, “Thank You,” the episode name, could be as simple as acknowledging the “gratitude wall” set up at Molly’s, but could also be interpreted as a “thank you” to Herrmann for his presence in all 14 seasons to date. Cue the Reaper.

Herrmann’s Death Opens Some Interesting Storyline Possibilities for ‘Chicago Fire’, But Doesn’t Mean It Should Happen

If Chicago Fire‘s “Thank You” does spell the end of Herrmann, it opens up some very intriguing storyline possibilities. For Mouch, Herrmann’s death would be particularly devastating, having been long-time partners and friends, and likely would push him to get his book “Brothers-in-Arms” published sooner than later. For Severide, Herrmann’s death could push him down one of two paths. If the fire was started by an arsonist, that may very well push him toward the position with the OFI. Likewise, seeing Herrmann’s family struggle with his death would add a poignancy to Isaiah’s (Hero Hunter) musings about how the OFI would be safer and ensure he comes home every night. Or, if it was “just” a tragic event, Severide could decide to become the chief of 51, unable to stand by and watch his firehouse family fall apart.

After 14 Years, ‘Chicago Fire’ Is Officially Losing a Major Player

Longtime series writer Victor Teran will take over showrunning duties.

The latter, however, has a very 9-1-1 Bobby Nash death feel to it, and it would definitely draw parallels between the two if Herrmann died. Both characters are very much the beating heart of their respective series, and if Nash’s death offers any lessons, it’s this: be prepared. Nash’s death caused ratings for 9-1-1 to plummet, and Herrmann is at least as beloved, arguably even more, as Nash. From that point of view alone, killing off Herrmann is a bad idea, so if they’re going to do it, there’s going to be unavoidable blowback. And so there should be. Herrmann is an engaging, wholly delightful character, and from a purely selfish place, yours truly would hate seeing him written off. There’s absolutely no problem if “Thank You” is chalked up to a really, really close call, one that everybody walks away from safely. Anything else? “Thank You,” but no thanks.

Robert Pattinson Channels Chris Hansen In ‘Primetime’

Published

on

The Batman film premiere

Robert Pattinson is stepping into the role of journalist and TV presenter Chris Hansen for the upcoming A24 film, “Primetime.” Hansen is most known for hosting the controversial reality series “To Catch a Predator,” which ran from 2004 to 2007.

The teaser trailer for the movie recently dropped, showing Pattinson in yet another new role that highlights his versatility as an actor.

The teaser trailer for A24’s upcoming crime drama film, “Primetime,” dropped on May 27, offering a first look at Robert Pattinson portraying TV host and journalist Chris Hansen.

Hansen hosted “To Catch a Predator,” a true crime series that was part of “Dateline NBC” from 2004 to 2007. The controversial show featured Hansen exposing adults accused of attempting to meet minors for sexual interactions through online decoys posing as underage teens. Upon arriving at a staged location, the suspects would be confronted by Hansen before being taken into custody by law enforcement.

The film’s storyline isn’t revealed in the teaser, but what viewers noticed was Pattinson’s narration, channeling Hansen to mimic the host’s voice and cadence of speech. “I’m Chris Hansen with ‘Dateline NBC, and you’re able to be a part of television history,” Pattinson says.

Apart from starring in the film, Pattinson also served as a producer on “Primetime.” It was directed by Lance Oppenheim and also features Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine, Anna Faris, and Phoebe Bridgers.

Pattinson is highly regarded for taking on a wide variety of roles, and his portrayal of Hansen has people talking. The comments section for the movie’s trailer is flooded with comments about the actor, with many saying that they are looking forward to seeing the film, despite the role being an unexpected choice.

“Pattinson’s range will be studied for decades to come, genuinely insane how talented this guy is,” one wrote. Another added, “Pattinson is on a generational run, bro. His range is honestly amazing, and he’s slowly becoming one of the GOAT of this generation.”

The Controversy Over ‘To Catch A Predator’

Despite its short run, “To Catch a Predator” was a commercial and cultural success. However, the show was also marred by controversies. Many claimed the show sensationalized justice and blurred the lines between journalism and vigilantism. There were also allegations that the show used aggressive entrapment tactics to lure suspects.

The show was canceled in 2007, following a tragic end to a sting operation. In 2006, Texas Assistant District Attorney Bill Conradt was the subject of a sting operation for allegedly soliciting sex with a minor. Authorities worked with Perverted-Justice and “To Catch a Predator” on the case.

The show’s camera crew and a SWAT team surrounded Conradt’s home to serve an arrest warrant. Before they could do so, however, they heard a gunshot. Conradt was rushed to the hospital but later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Chris Hansen On The Show’s Cancellation

Following Conradt’s death, his sister filed a wrongful death lawsuit against NBC, alleging “To Catch a Predator” prioritized ratings over safety and pushed law enforcement to arrest Conradt at his home. Conradt’s family sued for $109 million.

In 2008, the lawsuit was settled out of court, with an attorney for the Conradt family saying, “the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.” The settlement amount was not revealed.

“To Catch a Predator” was canceled in 2007, with both the network and Hansen saying the show had “run its course.” In an interview with TIME in 2015, Hansen said, “At the end of the day, we had proved our point.”

Robert Pattinson’s Role Sparks Awards Predictions

Pattinson’s portrayal of Hansen already has industry predictors, critics, and fans buzzing. “I feel like this might be his best shot at an Oscar in his career so far,” one fan noted, which was echoed by many others.

The 40-year-old actor has a massive slate of films for 2026. In April, he starred opposite Zendaya in “The Drama,” which will be followed by Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” scheduled for release in July. Pattinson is also set to appear in the third installment of the “Dune” franchise, premiering in December. The actor will also reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in the “Batman” sequel, though it won’t come out until next year.

“Primetime” is scheduled to hit theaters sometime in September 2026.

All 12 Game of the Year Winners, Ranked

Published

on

A character from Overwatch shooting two guns

Grand Theft Auto VI has been the most anticipated video game for years now, and 2026 seems to be the year it finally comes out, barring any other delays. Fans are already claiming it to be the strongest contender to win Game of the Year at the Game Awards, because with years of development, polish, ambition, and expectations, it could be the biggest gaming experience ever. However, it shouldn’t take away from over a decade of flawless games.

Game of the Year is one of the biggest honors for a title, and the most popular event is Geoff Keighley‘s Game Awards, which started in 2014 and has only been getting more and more well-known. That is why this list will rank every Game of the Year winner at the Game Awards from worst to best based on gameplay, narrative, art, design, originality, influence, prestige, staying power, popularity, fan opinion, and overall quality. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but these ten games in particular earned the title of the best.

‘Overwatch’ (2016)

Kicking off this list is one of the best that has aged the worst, but it is still a cultural icon that defined the 2010s: Overwatch. This arena multiplayer shooter has a multitude of modes where players select their heroes and battle it out with imaginative powers, distinct abilities and different purposes.

Some fans let modern perception influence their past thoughts because, in 2016, there wasn’t a bigger game than Overwatch. It hasn’t aged perfectly and feels stale now, but it was absolutely deserving of the title back then. Even though it is at the bottom of this list, Overwatch is still an engaging experience that revolutionized multiplayer shooters through its team-based dynamics and hero-centric characters.

‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ (2025)

The next entry is also the most recent game of the year winner, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The Paintress is a monolithic entity who erases a specific age from the world every year until humanity is reduced to nothing. Expeditions are sent to stop it, and while they have mostly been unsuccessful, the 33rd expedition might be the one to put an end to the madness.

It may have been the unanimous and obvious winner of 2025, but in a list of the greatest games of the past decade, the competition is too steep. Still, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a masterful combination of real-time events and turn-based combat that creates an innovative gameplay loop. Its satisfying combat, excellent voice acting, and incredible art direction made it a modern “indie” staple.

10

‘The Last of Us Part II’ (2020)

There are a handful of polarizing game of the year winners, but perhaps the most controversial is The Last of Us Part II, which divided fans and critics. After the events of the last game, Ellie and Joel are living happily, that is, until a group splits them up. Ellie now sets out back into the zombie-infested world to seek revenge on those who took everything from her.

Not everyone may agree with it winning, but The Last of Us Part II is still a masterpiece in a weak year of gaming. It wasn’t perfect, but all the games on here are fantastic, including this one. Its narrative shift was bold and daring, going in a direction that was heartbreaking, making the story more uncomfortable and harrowing yet ultimately cathartic. The Last of Us Part II is a narrative masterclass that also boasts thrilling stealth-action-based gameplay.

9

‘Astro Bot’ (2024)

The platformer genre is dominated by Mario, but it has been unsuccessful in winning a game of the year award. However, 2024 changed things, with Astro Bot taking home the acclaimed award. After players crash their spaceship, they must travel around the world searching for their scattered crew and slowly rebuilding their ship to escape the world.

Astro Bot is pure fun from start to finish, delivering a game that is full of entertainment value. The haptic controls make the gameplay more engaging and immersive, but the true highlight is the perfect level design. The refined design creates a magnificent pace that teaches, tests, and challenges perfectly, providing a nice progression of skills in Astro Bot‘s charming style and creative gimmicks.

8

‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ (2014)

The Dragon Age franchise isn’t what it used to be, which is strange, because two of the titles are considered some of the best games ever, including 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition. When a magical tear rips the sky open and lets in a horde of abominations from the Fade, the Herald of Andraste must revive and lead the Inquisition to stop the invasion.

Dragon Age: Origins is widely considered to be the better title, but Dragon Age: Inquisition still has its charms and highlights that earned it the honor of winning the very first Game of the Year award. The characters are compelling, the combat is thrilling, and the visuals are often cinematic. Yet, it’s the complex and lore-rich storyline that has made Inquisition stand the test of time. This immersive RPG has a massive scale and a deep emphasis on its party dynamics, which defined the genre for the time, becoming one of the best video games of the 2010s.

7

‘Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’ (2019)

FromSoftware is one of the best gaming studios out there, earning two entries on this list, starting with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Set in Sengoku-era Japan, players control a samurai who must protect his young lord in a deeply corrupted political system. Meanwhile, he must also seek revenge for his murdered clan.

Sekiro is a fighting game masterpiece that boasts some of the best gameplay and combat in the soulslike genre. The high-tension sword fighting creates a need for precision, skill, and constant learning, where every battle becomes a dance of combat. The competitive and challenging gameplay becomes satisfying and rewarding when mastered, proving Sekiro is a masterclass of combat.

6

‘It Takes Two’ (2021)

Two characters looking surprised in It-Takes-Two Image via Hazelight Studios
Advertisement

It is rare that an indie game will win game of the year since they can’t compete with the massive budget, scale, and time put into AAA blockbusters. However, in 2021, It Takes Two defied the odds and won the award. When a couple on the verge of divorce are turned into toys, they must navigate a fantastical version of their home to turn back to normal.

Most of the games on this list are open-world single-player games, but It Takes Two is a co-op masterclass that gives each player agency with unique roles. The inventive design shifts through gimmicks and mechanics that are all thematically relevant, but also spice up the gameplay with fun moments. It Takes Two builds a sense of cooperation that other games lack, creating a genuine connection between players, which is what video games should represent.

5

‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ (2015)

Regis and Geralt in 'The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine'

Everyone thought Cyberpunk 2077 was going to easily win the game of the year award, but its rocky launch said otherwise. CD Projekt Red at least has one Game of the Year winner in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In it, Geralt must put aside his usual monster-hunting business to find Ciri and protect her from the Wild Hunt, an espectral cavalcade that wants to use her vast powers for evil.

Somewhere along the line, video games became a storytelling medium, and for the better, because titles such as The Witcher 3 could display their narrative prowess through unique methods baked into their gameplay, mechanics, and design. The main story and campaign are compelling, but the side quests are the highlight, delivering a deep and complex experience that results in one of the best fantasy video games of all time.

4

‘God of War’ (2018)

Not everyone agrees with the Game of the Year winners, but 2018 was a difficult choice between God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2. Much to the annoyance of many, the former won. After the death of his wife, Kratos travels around the Norse world alongside his son to spread her ashes. However, the gods have other plans for them, wanting Atreus for mysterious reasons.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has had a kinder legacy, but it’s hard to say whether it was more deserving than God of War. Either way, both games deserve praise, but only God of War walked away with the award. Through narrative excellence that is seen in every aspect, this game creates an intimate portrait of fatherhood. On the ever-important action side, God of War also has cathartic combat where players can use their strength to obliterate enemies and solve puzzles.

As mentioned, FromSoftware is a prolific game studio with two Game of the Year awards, and their magnum opus is Elden Ring. After the titular object shatters, the children of Queen Marika collect the pieces. Now, the Tarnished must travel around the Lands Between to defeat the demigods, collect the broken pieces, restore the ring, and become the Elden Lord.

With FromSoftware’s challenging and compelling soulslike combat and George R.R. Martin‘s expert worldbuilding and lore, Elden Ring is a complete fantasy adventure game. Through its satisfying combat and a gameplay system that rewards exploration, Elden Ring is a flawless game that excels in all aspects. It refuses to hold the player’s hand, thrusting them into a world full of danger, intrigue, and lore. However, that’s exactly the main appeal, as it makes the adventure seem all the more dangerous and immersive.

Gollum

You carry something heavy — and you carry it alone, even when you don’t have to. You were not born for greatness, and that is precisely why greatness chose you. Your courage is not the roaring, sword-swinging kind; it is quiet, stubborn, and terrifying in its refusal to quit. The Ring weighs on you more than anyone can see, and still you walk toward the fire. That is not weakness. That is the rarest kind of strength there is.

You are, without question, the best of them. Not the most powerful, not the most celebrated — but the most essential. Your loyalty is not a trait; it is a force of nature. You would carry the person you love up the slopes of Mount Doom if it came to that, and we both know you’d do it without being asked. The world needs more people like you, and the world is lucky it has even one.

You were born to lead, and you have spent years running from it. The crown is yours by right, but you know better than anyone that right means nothing without the will and the worthiness to back it up. You are tempered by loss, shaped by long roads, and defined by a code of honour you hold to even when no one is watching. When you finally step forward, the world shifts. Because it was always waiting for you.

You have seen more than you let on, and you say less than you know — which is exactly as it should be. You are a catalyst: you do not fight the battles yourself, you ignite the people who can. Your wisdom comes not from books but from an age of watching what happens when it is ignored. You arrive precisely when you mean to, and your presence alone changes what is possible. A wizard is never late.

Graceful, perceptive, and almost preternaturally calm under pressure — you see things others miss and act before others react. You do not need to make a scene to be remarkable; your presence speaks for itself. You are loyal to those you choose to stand beside, and that choice is not made lightly. You have lived long enough to know that the most beautiful things in this world are also the most fragile, and that is why you fight to protect them.

You are loud, proud, and absolutely formidable — and beneath all of that is one of the most fiercely loyal hearts in Middle-earth. You don’t do anything by half measures. Your friendships are forged like iron, your grudges run as deep as mines, and your courage in battle is the kind that makes legends. You came into this fellowship suspicious of everyone and ended it willing to die for an elf. That is not a small thing. That is everything.

You think in centuries and act in absolutes. Order, dominion, control — not because you are cruel by nature, but because you have decided that the world left to itself always falls apart, and you are the only one with the vision and the will to hold it together. You were not always this. Something was lost, or taken, or betrayed, and the version of you that stands now is the answer to that wound. The tragedy is that you’re not entirely wrong — just entirely too far gone to course-correct.

You are a study in contradiction — pitiable and dangerous, cunning and broken, capable of both cruelty and something that once resembled love. You are defined by loss: of innocence, of self, of the one thing that gave your existence meaning. Two voices war inside you constantly, and the tragedy is that the better one sometimes wins, just not often enough, and never at the right moment. You are a warning, yes — but also a mirror. We are all a little Gollum, given the right ring and enough time.

Gwyneth Paltrow on the red carpet

Gwyneth Paltrow is getting honest about the emotional challenges of adjusting to an empty nest after her children moved out of the family home.

The lifestyle mogul candidly described the overwhelming transition as a painful drop that required a complete reorientation of her daily life and motherhood duties.

However, despite the initial sadness, the famous actress expressed immense pride in how her adult children are successfully entering their next phases of life.

The 53-year-old Goop founder recently shared her vulnerable parenting journey during a candid interview on the Today Show. Reflecting on the departure of her kids, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Chris Martin, she confessed that the change was incredibly difficult to navigate.

“I really struggled when they all went, and then I thought, ‘Okay, I’m all good,’ ” she admitted.

However, the relief was temporary, as she added, “And then in September again, I kind of fell off a cliff for the second time. But now I feel like it’s what you want to happen. It’s what you hope will happen that they will go off to their next phase of life and find their people.”

The Academy Award winner explained that mothers spend years heavily focusing on their children’s daily schedules and emotional well-being, making it very hard to reorient when they leave. Fortunately, both of her adult children are thriving in their respective journeys.

Her 22-year-old daughter, Apple Martin, graduated from Vanderbilt University and has already secured a role in an upcoming Nancy Meyers film. Meanwhile, her 20-year-old son, Moses Martin, is a sophomore at Brown University and is successfully building a music career.

The thriving post-college journeys of Paltrow’s children have naturally pushed them further into the intense media spotlight.

Following her recent university graduation and the announcement of her upcoming movie role, the Oscar winner’s eldest daughter is now drawing significant attention to her personal life after uploading a candid-looking snapshot to her Instagram Stories featuring a dark-haired mystery man.

In the relaxed image, she leaned her head back outside what appeared to be a traditional pub while her companion wrapped an arm around her. According to The Blast, the casual photo immediately sent fans into detective mode online because she offered absolutely no caption or tags to identify the man.

The timing of the post intensified the romance questions because the model had also recently interacted online with a former classmate named Andrew Smith.

Adding to the mystery, another dark-haired man was spotted walking closely behind the graduate and her famous mother during the university’s commencement festivities just days earlier.

The intense public curiosity surrounding Apple’s romantic life and transition into adulthood follows previous instances where she had to defend her character on social media.

Months before sparking dating rumors with her cozy photograph, Paltrow’s eldest daughter faced harsh online scrutiny regarding her past school days.

The young model utilized her Instagram stories to firmly push back against growing internet claims that she had been kicked out of school for bullying other students. Addressing the rumors, she reshared a comment she had previously written.

In the public statement, she made her stance completely clear, writing, “Hi! I didn’t wanna respond, but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand,” according to The Blast.

The recent graduate strongly disputed the online allegations and clarified that she has a completely clean academic record. She further acknowledged that being in the public eye means facing critics, but insisted that the malicious rumor crossed a line.

While Apple has had to protect her personal reputation from false online rumors, her famous mother has simultaneously been dealing with significant public pushback over her latest business choices.

The 53-year-old actress sparked fresh controversy after her health-focused delivery restaurant launched a social media campaign featuring convicted fraudster Anna Delvey. Delvey gained notoriety for posing as a wealthy heiress to scam elite social circles, banks, and hotels before serving 19 months in prison and being placed under house arrest in New York City.

However, the promotional video drew heavy criticism for seemingly glamorizing criminal behavior for commercial gain, as reported by The Blast.

The negative response to the restaurant’s advertisement coincided directly with a separate wave of public condemnation regarding Paltrow’s personal views on wealth.

The wellness entrepreneur sparked a heated cultural debate after sitting down with business journalist Kara Swisher for a recent episode of “The Goop Podcast.”

The Blast reported that during their recorded conversation, the Oscar-winning actress reflected heavily on Silicon Valley power players, questioning the public’s ongoing fascination with powerful tech executives. Questioning the shifting values of modern society, the actress asked, “How did we get here as a culture?”

However, the commentary immediately backfired online, with numerous social media users blasting the millionaire actress for being completely out of touch with everyday financial realities.

Tom Hardy Faces ‘Career Suicide’ Over ‘MobLand’ Set Behavior

Published

on

Tom Hardy at the MobLand Global Premiere, Odeon Luxe In Leicester Square, London

Tom Hardy‘s firing from “MobLand” has become a major topic of conversation as more details surface about his time on set and relationship with other cast members.

According to a new report, the actor seemingly made things difficult for his co-workers and producers by choosing to remain in his trailer during filming.

Sources also previously stated that Tom Hardy’s behavior on set frustrated his A-list co-star, Helen Mirren, who felt “enraged” by his actions.

A new report from The Hollywood Reporter has shed light on the on-set tensions that may have caused a strain between not only Hardy and the producers of “MobLand,” but also his co-stars, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.

Speaking to the publication, a source claimed that Hardy put on an arrogant display when he refused to step out of his trailer for hours, keeping Brosnan and Mirren waiting and subsequently delaying filming.

“He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” the source stated, noting that the move left producers worried and made them rethink Hardy’s future on the series.

“He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play,” the source continued. “Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

Hardy plays the role of fixer Harry Da Souza in the Guy Ritchie series, which has yet to be officially picked up for a third season.

Although it’s unclear why Hardy refused to leave his trailer on time, sources told the Daily Mail that he had grown frustrated with the filming schedule, especially as a third season might require filming beyond 2026.

The Actor Was Reportedly Axed From The Show After A Dispute Over The Filming Schedule

In a chat with The Mail on Sunday, sources noted that a lot of the dispute centered on the filming schedule of the yet-to-be greenlit third season of “MobLand.”

“Producers told Tom they couldn’t start filming the new show until later in the year. They were looking at November time because they weren’t happy that the script was ready to go in time for the summer,” an insider told the news outlet, per the Daily Mail.

This is said to have clashed with Hardy’s own personal plans, as he has been “absolutely insistent that he is not working beyond 2026.”

The decision to delay filming reportedly infuriated the actor, as it meant he wouldn’t be done with the project before the new year.

Speaking more on the matter, sources noted that Hardy’s insistence on wrapping up filming of the third season early was tied to his decision to take a long break from Hollywood to be with his family.

The actor, who has been open about being physically worn out due to the challenging roles he took on in the past, reportedly communicated his desires to producers, but they remained adamant about the filming schedule.

“He has decided he wants to take time out from the industry and enjoy family time with Charlotte and the kids,” the source said. “They are discussing going abroad for a few years, leaving the limelight behind them.”

They added, “It has been a big decision for him and his family, so there was a hard stop. Tom tried to get his way and begin the filming this summer, but the directors were not agreeing, they said no.”

Hardy has been married to his wife, Charlotte Riley, since 2014, and the couple shares two children, a daughter and a son. Riley is also the stepmother to Hardy’s eldest child, Louis Thomas, from a previous relationship.

Before news of his firing made headlines, insiders had already shared with the Daily Mail that one of his co-stars, Helen Mirren, had become “enraged” by Hardy’s behavior on set.

One source in particular shared that when the camera stopped rolling, Hardy was no longer “charming” or “calm” like the character he portrays on the show; instead, he was “quite the opposite.”

“He can be late to filming, too, and that is annoying for Dame Helen, who is extremely professional and disciplined. His tone is something Dame Helen doesn’t like, along with his lateness,” the source noted.

They further claimed that Hardy was “winding” up the Hollywood veteran with his “very, very arrogant” attitude, which clashed with the professionalism Mirren has grown to expect on the projects she works on.

Tom Hardy’s Firing Is Causing ‘A Headache’ For ‘MobLand’ Producers

With Hardy playing a major role in the hit series as Harry Da Souza, his axing is unsurprisingly a major issue for the showrunners, especially regarding a third season.

An insider said, “It’s causing quite the headache to work out what they will do and how they will explain away Harry no longer being there.”

This may also cause the producers to push back filming a third season as they figure out how to continue the show without a character who has been integral to the first two installments.

“It’s a disaster, but the bosses were not prepared to be told what to do by Tom,” the insider continued. “Now the script might have to be redone, which could delay it even more.”
