DCU Star’s New Body-Hacking Sci-Fi Thriller Officially Sets Digital Release Date With First Trailer [Exclusive]
Frank Grillo and Tyrese Gibson face off with an evil corporation in a bleak future in the new cyberpunk thriller Kill Code. In the world of the film, the human body is just hardware that can be programmed to do the bidding of the rich and powerful, but even in this dark dystopia, there are those who fight back. Collider is proud to exclusively present the trailer for Kill Code, which will be released digitally on June 24.
In the dystopian future of Kill Code, America has been ravaged by the Second Civil War, and crime is a deadly pandemic; the rainy, neon-lit streets are dangerous to all who walk them. Alpire Industries CEO and scientist Eion Prescott (a silver-tressed Harvey Keitel) has the cure: the ONYX Program. AI-powered watches will be strapped to known criminals, which will inject them with nanobots loaded with a deadly computer virus: the kill code. It will force them to battle other criminals to the death, with the battered survivors earning redemption…and their lives. But Alpire won’t be satisfied until they’ve eliminated free will entirely. One cyber-enhanced Alpire operative (newcomer Franzi Schissler) has discovered the truth, and she’s hooked up with a ragtag resistance movement that might just win humanity’s freedom back.
Who Are the Stars of ‘Kill Code’?
Grillo is an action veteran, with roles in both the MCU, as Hydra operative Brock Rumlow, alias Crossbones, and the new DCU, as government agent Rick Flag Sr.; he will appear as the latter in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow. He also currently appears alongside Sylvester Stallone in the Paramount+ crime drama Tulsa King. Rapper and actor Tyrese Gibson has starred in two separate high-octane action franchises, as a regular in both the live-action Transformers films and as Roman Pearce in the Fast and Furious movies. He recently starred in the action horror comedy Vampires of the Velvet Lounge. Oscar-nominated actor Harvey Keitel’s appearances in the films of Martin Scorsese, including Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, and The Irishman, have established him as one of his generation’s foremost “tough guy” actors. He recently appeared in the actioner Hellfire alongside Stephen Lang.
Kill Code is written and directed by Justin Price (I Heart Robots), who also stars in the film. Formerly titled Hard Matter, it is distributed by Quiver Releasing; it was filmed on location in Mississippi. Kill Code will be released digitally on June 24. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Amanda Bynes Turns Heads In Los Angeles With Refreshed Look
Amanda Bynes was recently spotted in Los Angeles with a refreshed look, sporting platinum blonde hair while ditching her blue eyebrows.
The former actress, known for “The Amanda Show” and “What I Like About You,” continues to draw attention for her evolving style and public appearances.
Amanda Bynes has been open about focusing on her health and confidence while exploring creative work in music, art, and media.

Bynes was seen in Los Angeles enjoying a casual afternoon snack, and the 40-year-old former actress is sparking conversation with a noticeably updated aesthetic.
Photographers captured the “What I Like About You” star looking remarkably refreshed, prompting fans to draw comparisons to the classic, girl-next-door image she cultivated earlier in her career.
The most striking change is her hair; Bynes transitioned to a bright platinum blonde, styled in soft, natural waves. Her makeup choice also complemented this shift, specifically a more understated brow that steered away from the experimental, bold-colored trends, such as the vibrant blue brows she debuted just this past April.
For the relaxed daytime outing, Bynes went for a chic monochrome outfit, pairing an oversized black T-shirt with leather trousers featuring spiral cutouts. She finished the look with a classic Chanel bag, keeping things simple but polished.
See the surprising photo here.
The Former Nickelodeon Focuses On Health And Music After Quitting Hollywood

This visual transformation coincides with Bynes’ ongoing commitment to her health. The actress has been open about her efforts to drop weight, previously noting her use of medications like Ozempic.
She has shared in the past that these steps were taken to feel more confident in front of the camera and to “look better in paparazzi pictures” and so fans “don’t see my double chin from strange angles.”
Her recent public sightings also add to growing interest in her gradual return to creative work. After stepping away from acting in 2010, following a major run in film and TV, including her final role in “Easy A,” she took time out of the spotlight to focus on her mental health.
In recent years, however, she’s been exploring new creative directions rather than returning to Hollywood acting.
The former actress released her debut single “Girlfriend” in April through Create Music Group, marking her entry into music. Her label describes the track as “built around a strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy; it’s designed for repeat listens and wide playlist appeal.”
Amanda Bynes Expands Creative Work In Music, Art, And Public Appearances
Bynes had previously experimented with hip-hop tracks like “Diamonds,” a collaboration with her then-fiancé, Paul Michael.
Following that initial release, the duo expanded their sonic experimentation in 2022 with a full-length version of the song and a subsequent track titled “Fairfax.”
Outside of music, Bynes has explored other creative outlets. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019, later co-hosted a podcast with Paul Sieminski, participated in an art show and clothing pop-up in 2024, and briefly joined OnlyFans, while clarifying she “won’t be posting any sleazy content.”
The Former Actress Has Been Having With Her Style And Makeup

Just last month, she also made headlines for a more playful beauty experiment, stepping out in Los Angeles with brows decorated with small shimmering jewels during a low-key errand run.
In the photos, Bynes, dressed casually in a black T-shirt and matching shorts, was seen managing a few personal items, including a pack of cigarettes and a Starbucks coffee, while searching her purse.
Her bleached hair at the time was styled in its characteristically long, layered cut.
Jennie Garth Reflects On Working With Amanda Bynes And Her ‘Overflowing Teenage Energy’

Bynes remains a familiar figure for many who grew up watching her on “The Amanda Show” and in films like “What a Girl Wants.
As one of the most recognizable young stars of the 2000s, even her brief public appearances today tend to spark renewed conversation and nostalgia among fans.
That lasting impact is something her former co-star Jennie Garth has also reflected on. The two worked together on the sitcom “What I Like About You,” and Garth recently opened up about how that experience left a mark on her personally and professionally.
“Working with Amanda was eye-opening for me,” Garth told E! News, explaining that it gave her a new perspective on being around teenage energy on set. “I didn’t know what it was like as the older person to play in the scenes with a younger person, or just to be around that kind of teenage energy.”
Now 54, Garth described Bynes as someone who brought an unmistakable vibrancy to the set. “She had so much overflowing teenage energy,” she added.

12 Best TV Shows Ending in 2026
All good things must come to an end, as the saying goes. With TV shows, sometimes they end at the right time, and others, fans feel they ended too early. Shows like The Night Agent and The Lincoln Lawyer streamed their latest seasons in 2026, but it’s already confirmed that the next seasons will be their last, and fans have mixed feelings about that. Gen V concluded its second season in late 2025, but in 2026, it was confirmed that the show won’t be coming back either.
Other shows will stream their final seasons this year, some of which have already concluded in the first half of 2026. A few ran for many seasons, while some only got a couple under their belt before they were given the axe. Whether it’s a planned ending or an abrupt one, it’s never easy for fans to let go of a favorite show when it concludes.
1
‘The Boys’ (2019–2026)
One of the most talked-about show endings this year so far, fans have been waiting almost two years for the conclusion of The Boys. The satirical superhero series takes place in a world where humans and superheroes co-exist. But those with superpowers are often anything but heroes. They are run by a corporation called Vought International that is all about skewing perception and serving its own interests. Homelander (Antony Starr), the most powerful supe of them all, is an egomaniacal narcissist who is desperate for power and yearning to feel wanted. He goes to great lengths to violently serve his interests. Meanwhile, a misfit group known as The Boys is hellbent on taking him, bad supes, and Vought down.
The series finale, which streamed in late May, was met with mixed reception. Some felt the show ended perfectly, bringing the story full circle. Others were less than impressed with the final season. But the story based on the comic book series has come to an end, no matter how you slice it. It will continue in some fashion, however, with the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising, with Jensen Ackles reprising his role as the immortal Soldier Boy.
2
‘Good Omens’ (2019–2026)
Though it has been streaming since 2019, Good Omens only has three seasons under its belt, with four years between Seasons 1 and 2, and another three years before Season 3, which consists of just a single 90-minute episode, arrived to conclude the story. The fantasy comedy stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively. They both live on Earth, representing Heaven and Hell, and try not to let their differing views get in the way of their friendship. When Armageddon is pronounced, and a battle between good and evil is heating up, they must work together to ward off the Antichrist.
Rife with religious themes and featuring many high-profile names as recurring stars, including Frances McDormand, Michael McKean, Nick Offerman, and Jon Hamm as Gabriel, the show’s final season was reduced in length due to sexual assault allegations brought forth against creator Neil Gaiman, who departed ahead of the now shortened third season. But throughout its run, Good Omens has been widely praised for its humor and the chemistry between the leads, even if the final season only got lukewarm reviews.
3
‘Outlander’ (2014–2026)
Airing for eight seasons, Outlander has brought the Diana Gabaldon book series to life. The historical fantasy series is about Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), a former World War II military nurse, who travels back in time from 1945 to 1743. While there, she meets and falls in love with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Highland warrior. But now, she’s stuck within the Jacobite rising.
Outlander might be done, but there’s also a prequel series called Outlander: Blood of My Blood, that premiered in 2025 to satiate fans now that the main series has ended. That show’s second season will premiere in late 2026 and tells the story of how Claire and Jamie’s parents meet and fall in love. But when it comes to the original, Outlander is a great romance show worth watching all the way through.
4
‘All American’ (2018–2026)
The eighth and final season of All American is set to premiere in July 2026. The sports drama is inspired by the life of professional football player Spencer Paysinger, starring Daniel Ezra as a young Spencer, a rising star who dreams of making it to the NFL one day. Taye Diggs plays Billy Baker, the high school football coach who recruits Spencer to play in Beverly Hills.
All American was off to a slow start on The CW but picked up steam once it began streaming on Netflix. It has since become one of the best football shows of all time. From there, the series has gone on to air seven seasons to date. The show follows the journey of not only a young man with immense talent and big aspirations, but also the challenges of moving from South L.A. to Beverly Hills and the culture clashes between families.
5
‘The Neighborhood’ (2018–2026)
A feel-good, goofy sitcom, The Neighborhood stars Max Greenfield and Beth Behrs as Dave and Gemma, a married couple with a young son who move into a predominantly Black neighborhood. At first, Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) is not too happy about his new neighbors. But as Gemma and his wife Tina (Tichina Arnold) grow close, and Dave begins to grow on him, the two families become close friends.
The Neighborhood touches on race, of course, but at its core, it’s also a commentary on accepting differences in general. While Dave and Gemma are white and come from a small town with a very different upbringing, Calvin eventually realizes they aren’t all that different. The hilarity comes, however, with Calvin constantly being annoyed by Dave and his corny antics. While The Neighborhood‘s ending seemed rushed, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the show’s eight seasons are worth watching.
6
‘Emily in Paris’ (2020–2026)
It’s a good time to bring Emily in Paris to a close. The story begins with Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), a young social media strategist who goes to Paris on a temporary assignment for her company. She falls in love, however, and despite all the work challenges and love triangles that create wonderfully exciting complications, she decides to stay.
Through the course of the series to date, Emily has made and lost loves, created memorable campaigns for clients, had serious work blunders, and even moved to Italy for a stretch of time. But it’s time for her to settle down and plant roots somewhere. Will it be Paris? We’ll have to wait for the upcoming sixth and final season to find out this and other pressing questions.
7
‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ (2015–2026)
The subject of major news headlines since the show’s ending was announced, the reason for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert coming to a close has to do with politics or financials and ratings, depending on who you ask. Whatever the motivation, the long-running late-night news talk show officially aired its final episode on May 21, 2026.
Hosted by Colbert, the show took over the spot previously occupied by legendary late-night host David Letterman, each episode featuring an opening monologue (often skewing heavily towards politics), interviews with guests, and sometimes sketches. The ending of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert doesn’t just mark a cessation of that specific show, but of the 33-year run of the franchise.
8
‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ (2021–2025)
The Law & Order franchise is one of the longest-running on television, but Law & Order: Organized Crime aired its fifth season in 2025, and it was announced this year that the show would not be returning based on low ratings. The crime drama centers around Christopher Meloni‘s character Elliot Stabler, whom he played in the still-going-strong series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Unlike the typical procedural format, each installment of the show follows a single case that takes the entire season to solve. Elliot is at the center, returning to the NYPD following the murder of his wife, and now working with an Organized Crime Task Force. The show received decent reviews and had several crossovers with SVU, including appearances by Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson. But that wasn’t enough to keep it on the air.
9
‘Hacks’ (2021–2026)
Earning numerous awards through its run, Hacks is a female-led comedy about a legendary Las Vegas stand-up comedian who reluctantly seeks the help of a young comedy writer to refresh her act and bring her into the 21st century. The relationship between the two is at the center of the plot. Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) is stuck in her ways, and Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) is desperate to make something of herself and find work after an insensitive tweet and a reputation that precedes her.
One of the best comedies of the 2020s and a great HBO show you’ll wish you watched sooner, Hacks concluded its run on May 28, 2026, after five seasons. It’s a wonderful story of female bonding that shows how two generations can help one another, Ava encouraging Deborah to take risks while Deborah helps Ava through her personal issues.
10
‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ (2023–2026)
The first of three spin-offs that kept The Walking Dead universe going after the main show ended, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will conclude Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) journey alongside his best friend Carol (Melissa McBride) when the story resumes for its fourth and final season, slated for release this fall.
The story began with Daryl ending up in France while searching for both his friend Rick (Andrew Lincoln), who he now believes to still be alive, and potential answers for a cure to the virus. In Season 2, Carol arrives in France looking for him, while Season 3 follows their journey through London and Spain as they try to make their way back home. If all the stars align, Season 4 could end with their arrival home. Fans are hoping for a long-awaited reunion to tie at least this part of the franchise off with a nice red ribbon.

The Alexander Skarsgard Futuristic Sci-Fi Thriller Streaming On Netflix
By Steven Nelson
| Published

Ever dreamt of seeing a 6’4″ Swedish actor take on a futuristic, neon-soaked Berlin without uttering a single word? Your oddly specific dream has come true, courtesy of Netflix’s Mute. Alexander Skarsgård, renowned for his charismatic roles in projects like Succession, True Blood, and Big Little Lies, takes a dramatic turn in this cyberpunk mystery.
Ditching his eloquent demeanor, he embraces the silent world of Leo Beiler, a mute bartender on a desperate search. With the murky undertones of the city reflected in its narrative, Alexander Skarsgård’s performance promises to be as captivating as it is quiet. Dive into this Netflix gem and watch as the tall, silent Scandinavian navigates a treacherous terrain with intrigue at every neon-lit corner.
An Amish Tech Noir Adventure

In a not-so-distant future, the sprawling urban landscapes of Berlin have evolved into a dazzling metropolis, shimmering with both neon lights and dark underbellies. At the heart of this city, we meet Leo Beiler (Alexander Skarsgård), a mute Amish bartender with a tortured past. A childhood boating accident took away his voice, and his Amish beliefs prevented any surgical restoration. Now, he communicates through handwritten notes and a profound intensity that only Alexander Skarsgård could deliver.
As if the challenges posed by his disability in such a high-tech world aren’t enough, Leo faces a personal crisis when his girlfriend, Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh), mysteriously disappears. His desperate search to find her leads him deep into the city’s seediest districts, where he unravels a conspiracy much larger than a simple missing person’s case.

Leo’s path collides with that of two shady American surgeons, Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd) and Duck Teddington (Justin Theroux). These two operate on both sides of the law, patching up criminals while getting embroiled in illicit dealings themselves. As their narratives intertwine, Mute transforms from a simple search-and-rescue mission into a complex web of deceit, crime, and human connectivity.
A Polarizing Moon Followup
Helmed by director Duncan Jones (of Moon and Source Code fame), Mute is a rich visual treat, blending elements of traditional noir with futuristic aesthetics. The movie doesn’t just rely on its stunning visuals; it offers a deep dive into themes of isolation, communication, and the lengths one will go to for love in an increasingly disconnected world.

Mute garnered a range of responses upon its release on Netflix. Critics were quick to praise the film’s visual aesthetic, likening its neon-soaked streets and futuristic ambience to classics like Blade Runner.
Alexander Skarsgård’s performance as the silent protagonist was also highlighted, with many lauding his ability to convey depth and emotion without the need for dialogue. But the fact remains that the movie is still sitting at just 20 percent critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The narrative didn’t resonate with everyone. Some critics felt the story lacked cohesion and that certain subplots detracted from the film’s central themes. The inclusion of secondary characters and their respective arcs drew mixed reactions, with some feeling they enriched the narrative, while others believed they muddled it.
Regardless of its critical divide, Mute‘s exclusive Netflix release allowed it to find a niche audience. Viewers who appreciate a blend of classic noir storytelling with futuristic settings found much to love. And while it didn’t achieve universal acclaim (far from it), Mute stands as a testament to the potential of streaming platforms to deliver ambitious, visually captivating stories outside the traditional theater system.

In the ever-evolving landscape of cinematic storytelling, Mute stands as a somewhat daring venture into the unknown terrains of the future. Despite its polarizing reception, the film beckons viewers with its stunning visuals and the silent yet poignant performance of Alexander Skarsgård.
Whether you’re a fan of neo-noir, futuristic tales, or simply in for a visual treat, Mute on Netflix promises an experience that lingers, echoing the silence of its protagonist and urging you to dive deeper into the stories that await in the shadows of tomorrow.

The Social Reckoning Sets October 2026 Theatrical Release : Coastal House Media
The idea of a Family Guy movie has been floating around for years, and according to creator Seth MacFarlane, the project remains very much on his mind, even if fans may have to wait for the perfect moment before it becomes a reality.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, MacFarlane was asked about the long-rumored feature film adaptation of the hit animated series. While he stopped short of announcing any concrete plans, he revealed that he has had the concept mapped out for quite some time.
“The Family Guy feature film is something that’s still always in the back of my head. I’ve always had a pretty clear idea of what it’s going to be. It’s that arrow in the quiver that I keep for when everything else goes to shit.”
When asked whether a movie could happen while Family Guy is still actively airing on television, MacFarlane made it clear that the show’s continued success wouldn’t prevent a film from happening.
“Oh, yeah. I always kind of assume that if I have a really dismal professional failure, like I produce a movie or a show that just fails so badly, the only thing that can cleanse the palette of the audience is the Family Guy movie. That’s when I’ll do it.”
While MacFarlane’s comments were delivered with his trademark humor, they also offer another reminder that a Family Guy movie isn’t off the table. In fact, the creator’s remarks suggest he has maintained a specific vision for the project for years and is simply waiting for the right opportunity to bring it to life.
Peter Griffin [credit: Hot Ones]
The prospect of a theatrical Family Guy film has been discussed for nearly two decades. Fans have long wondered what a feature-length adventure starring Peter Griffin, Stewie, Brian, and the rest of Quahog would look like on the big screen. Although the franchise released Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story in 2005, it was ultimately a direct-to-video project rather than a true theatrical movie.
With Family Guy continuing to attract audiences and remaining one of television’s most recognizable animated comedies, there is certainly no shortage of interest in seeing the franchise make the jump to theaters. Whether MacFarlane’s “arrow in the quiver” is unleashed sooner or later remains to be seen, but fans can take comfort in knowing that the idea is still alive.
For now, the long-awaited Family Guy movie remains one of the most intriguing projects that has yet to leave development limbo.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo Divorce: Signs They Had Split
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo‘s divorce comes as a shock to many — but there were clues about their split leading up to the news.
The pair got married in 2016 before Jelly Roll became a household name. Amid his rise to stardom, Bunnie supported Jelly Roll as he used his platform to candidly address topics in his life such as incarceration, addiction and past challenges in his marriage.
“One of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” the singer admitted during an October 2025 episode of the “Human School” podcast. “Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back.”
Jelly Roll confessed that he put in “a lot of work to repair” their connection, which led to them being “stronger than we could have ever been,” saying, “I wish our story would’ve went in the way that it never had an affair. I’m proud of who we are today. I truly am.”
Bunnie, for her part, recalled how “hard” it was to move on from the “betrayal.”
“I don’t think anybody can just snap out of it. It is a process. You’re literally grieving and you’re heartbroken, but you’re still in love with this person. Even though the affair is a part of the book, it’s not our story,” she explained to Us Weekly in January 2026. “It’s literally what catapulted us into who we are today and I think that readers need to definitely consume it, chew on it and think about it. But they also see what we’ve made from that entire situation. It completely changed who we are as humans and how we looked at love.”

She continued: “We didn’t know how to love each other properly. We both were raised in opposite households but weren’t taught how to love correctly. A lot of that gets brushed over, [but] as a child, he wasn’t taught how to love properly and I wasn’t taught how to love or receive love.”
Months after Bunnie reflected on the couple’s highs and lows in her memoir, Stripped Down, news broke in June 2026 that Jelly Roll filed to end their marriage. Keep scrolling for the signs that Bunnie and Jelly Roll were headed for divorce:
Cryptic Posts

Hours before Jelly Roll’s divorce paperwork made headlines in June 2026, Bunnie posed in lingerie on her Instagram Story, writing, “She’s getting her sparkle back.” In a separate Story, she shared the quote, “Come here, let me show you what love feels like.”
Ditching His Wedding Ring
In footage from the 2026 CMA Fest, which took place in Nashville weeks before the pair’s divorce made headlines, Jelly Roll was seen on stage without his wedding ring on his finger.
Missing From the Public Eye

Bunnie and Jelly Roll’s last public appearance was in February 2026 when she supported him at the Grammys. She was photographed with Jelly Roll after, despite discussing their marriage — and defending her now-estranged husband — on her podcast.
“All he is saying is, ‘Hey, Jesus is for everybody. Jesus does not belong to one political party. Jesus loves you,’” she said on a February 2026 episode of her “Dumb Blonde” podcast following backlash to Jelly Roll’s Grammys acceptance speech. “And the internet lost their minds.”
Split Rumors
The duo faced their fair share of split speculation over the years — and Bunnie clapped back at rumors that her marriage was in trouble.
“Someone said the other day, ‘They used to always be together, and now you never see them together,’” she said on her podcast in August 2025. “I’m like, ‘Do you guys not know that for the past six months [that] I’ve been trying to make a baby?’”

Could Jim Carrey Return For A New The Mask Movie? Original Director Weighs In : Coastal House Media
Jason Momoa is finally getting the chance to play one of his favorite DC characters, but if the actor ever headlines a solo Lobo film, he already has one non-negotiable demand.
While speaking with Collider, Momoa made it clear that he has no interest in a watered-down version of the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter.
“It’s all I want, and I promise — I’m just going to put this out there right now — I do not have any interest in making a Lobo PG-13 movie. So, will he be a part of some other movies? If they want me, I’ll be there. But if I make a solo movie, I’m not doing it unless it’s rated R.”
The statement is likely to be welcomed by longtime DC fans. Since his debut in the comics, Lobo has earned a reputation as one of the publisher’s most outrageous antiheroes. Known for his brutal violence, dark humor, and complete disregard for authority, the character has often been viewed as a natural fit for an R-rated adaptation.
Momoa has spent years expressing his desire to play the Main Man. Long before his casting was officially announced, the actor frequently mentioned Lobo as a dream role and one he felt personally connected to. That dream finally becomes reality with his upcoming appearance in Supergirl, where audiences will get their first look at the new DC Universe’s version of the character.
The casting has generated significant excitement among fans, many of whom believe Momoa’s larger-than-life personality, physical presence, and love of the source material make him an ideal choice for the role. Unlike many comic book castings that take fans by surprise, Momoa’s portrayal of Lobo feels like a pairing that has been years in the making.
Although DC Studios has not announced a standalone Lobo movie, Momoa’s comments suggest he is more than willing to continue playing the character across multiple projects. However, he drew a clear line when it comes to a solo adventure. While he is open to appearing in other DCU films, he believes a proper Lobo movie should embrace the character’s mature roots rather than tone them down for a broader audience.
The idea may not be as far-fetched as it once seemed. Under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, DC Studios has shown a willingness to explore projects aimed at different audiences. With R-rated comic book films continuing to find success both critically and commercially, an adult-oriented Lobo film could fit comfortably within the evolving DC Universe.
For now, fans will have to wait and see how audiences respond to Momoa’s debut in Supergirl. But if the actor ultimately gets his wish, the Main Man’s first solo outing will likely be every bit as loud, violent, and unapologetically over-the-top as fans have always imagined.

They Will Kill You Finds New Life As The No. 1 Movie On HBO Max After Box Office Disappointment : Coastal House Media
Sometimes a movie’s story doesn’t end when it leaves theaters.
After struggling at the box office earlier this year, They Will Kill You is experiencing an impressive resurgence on streaming. The horror action comedy starring Zazie Beetz has climbed to the No. 1 spot on HBO Max in the United States, proving that audiences are finally discovering the overlooked film.
According to streaming tracking service FlixPatrol, They Will Kill You currently sits at the top of HBO Max’s movie rankings in the U.S., beating out films including Contagion and The Bride! for the top position. The movie was only added to the service on June 12, making its rise even more impressive.
Directed by Kirill Sokolov, They Will Kill You follows Asia Reaves, played by Beetz, an ex-convict who takes a housekeeping job at a mysterious New York high-rise. What initially seems like an opportunity for a fresh start quickly becomes a nightmare when she discovers the building is controlled by a demonic cult that uses ritual sacrifices to maintain its power.
Despite its unique blend of horror, action, and dark comedy, the film struggled during its theatrical run, grossing roughly $19 million worldwide against a reported $20 million budget. The movie opened in a crowded marketplace and never quite found the audience many genre fans believed it deserved.
That story appears to be changing on streaming.
The film’s rapid climb to the top of HBO Max suggests viewers are embracing its over-the-top action, brutal gore, and Beetz’s commanding lead performance. Critics were divided, but audiences have responded more positively, with many praising the film’s wild energy and unapologetic style.
Hollywood has seen more than a few movies find redemption on streaming after disappointing theatrical runs, and They Will Kill You may be the latest example. What was once viewed as a box office misfire is now one of the hottest movies on HBO Max.
For fans of horror comedies packed with action, dark humor, and outrageous violence, They Will Kill You is finally getting the attention it was hoping for all along.

NICU Nurse Sentenced To 3 Years For Baby Abuse
When the world first learned about Erin Strotman, many likened her story to a horror movie plot. The former NICU nurse had been accused of physically harming, including breaking the bones, of nine premature babies in Virginia. On January 15, more than a year after Strotman’s arrest, a court found her guilty of nine counts of felony child abuse. Earlier this month, she was sentenced to 45 years in prison. However, that sentence was reduced to only three years and here’s why.

Details About Erin Strotman’s Sentencing For Child Abuse
Three years. That’s all the time Erin Strotman will have to serve in prison after harming premature children entrusted to her care at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital between 2023 and 2024. Her arrest on January 3, 2025, was in connection with one incident involving a baby in November 2024. She reportedly posted bond and spent time on house arrest.
After the hospital’s internal investigation uncovered multiple similar incidents, Strotman was criminally charged. Surveillance footage showed the NICU nurse mishandling the babies and committing other abusive actions during routine diaper changes and cleanings, leading to broken bones and other injuries. In fact, the Virginia Board of Nursing accused Strotman of using “excessive force,” including heavy pressure on babies’ legs and abdomens and lifting them by only their heads. Some babies were as young as 23 weeks, weighing as little as 11 ounces, per WRIC.
So, on January 15, she was found guilty of nine counts of abuse. Then, about five months later on June 5, Strotman was back in court for sentencing. A judge handed her the maximum sentence in the case: 45 years — five for each baby she allegedly abused. However, the judge ultimately suspended the sentence to three years, four months for each baby harmed.
Reportedly, that’s the maximum time allowed under the plea agreement between Erin, her lawyer and the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. She will serve the time consecutively. Additionally, her nursing license is gone and she is permanently barred from working as a nurse or in healthcare, including home care. She’s also never allowed to be a caregiver for anyone under 18 or vulnerable adults. Also, she cannot have unsupervised contact with a child under 18 years old who is not related to her for five years after her release from prison.
Here’s What Erin Said During Her Sentencing Hearing
Attorneys for the former NICU nurse argued that she didn’t intend to harm the babies in question. Instead, they claimed, she was using practices she had allegedly learned while working in the NICU. The sentencing hearing on June 5 marked the first time she publicly addressed the case.
“I’m sorry for the years of stress that each of you and your children endured,” Strotman said in court, according to WRIC. “For a long time, I did not think I was responsible… I realize I am responsible and that weighs on me every day.”
The judge denied the attorneys’ request for home confinement, arguing that the former NICU would not be safe in prison due to the high-profile case. At the time of the latest hearing, she was in Henrico County Jail. Her attorney, Ted Bruns, claimed the former NICU nurse could serve as little as 65% of her three-year sentence, depending on her behavior.
Parents Tell Former NICU Nurse She Betrayed Them
Also, five parents of babies Erin Strotman allegedly abused spoke at her sentencing. Their messages echoed sentiments of betrayal and standing mistrust of medical professionals. Ashli Mason, who works in healthcare and whose baby suffered 12 fractures, reportedly said no sentence will ever make her or other parents feel whole. “You and I took the same oath,” she directed at Erin in court.
Dominique Hackey, whose twins were under Strotman’s care in 2023, said he felt violated and suffered with the “guilt of failure.” One of his sons suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left tibia. Outside the courthouse, he admitted to only feeling “anger.”
“And I think anybody would looking in the face of their child’s abuser and all you’re able to do is just tell them how you feel and these are emotions that I’ve been feeling for almost three years now,” Hackey reportedly said.
All the parents who spoke said their children are happy and healthy now, despite Erin Strotman.

‘Shang-Chi 2’ Is Still Happening After 5 Years of Silence
The sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has received an exciting update after 5 years of silence. The project entered development in 2021, following the success of the Simu Liu-led film, and its director, Destin Daniel Cretton, has been tied to other Marvel Studios projects, like Wonder Man (which earned a rare Season 2 renewal) and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With Shang-Chi confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, will fans be seeing more of this Marvel hero?
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings follows Shang-Chi (Liu), who’s hunted down by an ancient criminal organization called the Ten Rings, led by his father, Xu Wenwu (Tony Leung), revealing to him, his sister, Xu Xialing (Meng’er Zhang), and best friend, Katy (Awkwafina), that his mother could be held captive by Ta Lo behind a sealed gate. Since its release, it has generated over $432 million worldwide, and a follow-up is still in the works despite few updates. Five years later, the Marvel filmmaker has revealed an update on the sequel’s development.
In a recent interview, Cretton revealed that Shang-Chi 2 is still in the works, aligning with Liu’s similar comments back in 2024. The filmmaker noted that the first movie came out at an unusual time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so not many theaters were open to showing it. He also hinted that changes in the industry may have contributed to the project’s delay:
“We are developing a second one. You know, what’s going on is what went on with the entire industry since that, you know, that movie came out, like it was successful, but it actually came out weirdly. It was successful at the time when there was, like, a new wave of COVID was hitting. So, it was still successful, but it was also, I think many countries were completely shut down to theaters at the time. So, and you know, after that, there were just crazy changes all over the place. So, it was, it’s just a result of the industry.”
Is ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Worth Watching?
When Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was released in theaters, it was highly praised, earning a Certified Fresh critics’ score of 92% and a Verified Hot audience score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was also nominated for numerous accolades, including Academy and Satellite Awards for “Best Visual Effects” and for “Best Superhero Film” at the Saturn Awards.
According to critics, Screen Rant claimed that Wenwu isn’t an “underwhelming bad guy” churned out by previous MCU movies and that it was a “great origin story.” Meanwhile, CBR praised Liu’s performance as Shang-Chi, saying he “effortlessly inhabits the role” and balances all the different sides of the character. Collider’s Matt Goldberg gave Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings a “B-” rating in his review. He claimed the film made the most of Liu’s martial arts skills and that the cast is “incredibly likable,” noting that Marvel didn’t just make Awkwafina’s character comic relief.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is available to stream on Disney+. Follow Collider for more updates.
