James Gunn’s New 4-Part Superman Series Quietly Becomes a Streaming Hit
DC has dropped a small but pretty charming surprise for fans. Krypto Saves the Day: Coastal Catastrophe, the fourth and final installment in the animated short series built around Superman’s chaos-goblin dog, officially hit HBO Max on April 18. That makes the full four-part run available, and it gives the DC brand another quick streaming beat ahead of Supergirl’s arrival this summer.
Coastal Catastrophe premiered on HBO Max on April 18, and it closes out the four-part Krypto Saves the Day series, which began in 2025. And in great news, the short was launching as production on Season 2 gets underway, with a cameo from Supergirl folded into the beach-set episode.
These shorts are quick, chaotic, and clearly designed to keep DC’s new universe feeling alive between bigger projects. Krypto has already become one of the studio’s easiest crowd-pleasers, so giving him a fresh mini-adventure on streaming was always going to get attention. Even if it’s small-scale, it’s the exact kind of drop that gets fans clicking out of pure curiosity.
What Other DC Projects Are Coming Up?
The timing of Krypto’s return also works nicely as a lead-in to Supergirl, which lands in theaters and IMAX on June 26. DC is already positioning that movie as the next major stop in the new universe with Alcock leading the film as Kara Zor-El alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.
After that, DC has more on deck in 2026, including the HBO and HBO Max series Lanterns and the theatrical horror-leaning Clayface, which is expected to open on September 11, 2026. Lanterns stars Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, and Nathan Fillion returning as Guy Gardner, while Clayface currently has Tom Rhys Harries attached in the title role.
Krypto Saves the Day is streaming now.

Erika Kirk Reportedly Seen Crying During WHCD Shooting
Erika Kirk was in attendance as shots broke out at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
CNN reported that Kirk, 37, was seen crying as the chaos unfolded at the Washington Hilton in Washington D.C. on Saturday, April 25. CNN’s Sara Sidner said on air that she personally witnessed Kirk leaving the main ballroom, telling aides, “I just want to leave.”
Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Kirk for comment.
Erika’s husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10, 2025. He was 31 years old. (It is unclear what the alleged shooter’s motive was on Saturday. According to CNN, a 30-year-old man from California was “apprehended” during the shooting.)
Charlie’s suspected shooter, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, was apprehended on September 11, 2025, and charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice and witness tampering. He has yet to enter a plea.
In October 2025, Erika opened up about the very public nature of her grief in the wake of her husband’s murder.
“There is no linear blueprint for grief. One day you’re collapsed on the floor crying out the name Jesus in between labored breaths,” Erika wrote via Instagram at the time. “The next you’re playing with your children in the living rooms surrounded by family photos, and feeling a rush of something you can only attempt to define as divinely planted and bittersweet joy as a smile breaks through your face.”
She added, “They say time heals. But love doesn’t ask to be healed. Love asks to be remembered. It’s humbling to realize that this magnitude of suffering didn’t steal my love for my husband. It amplified it. It crystallized it.”

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and pregnant White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt were all evacuated from the main ballroom at the Washington Hilton when shots were heard on Saturday night.
A Secret Service spokesperson clarified that the shooting took place near the “main magnetometer” at the Washington Hilton.
Reports suggest that a Secret Service agent was shot but the bullet struck his protective gear. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at the time of publication.
Trump, 79, broke his silence via a Truth Social post where he initially expressed his desire for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to continue.
“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely,” Trump wrote. “The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we ‘LET THE SHOW GO ON’ but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again.”
Journalist and White House Correspondents’ President Weijia Jiang subsequently announced at the podium that the event would be rescheduled within the next 30 days.
“Law enforcement has requested that we leave the premises. … [The president] wanted to emphasize that nobody was hurt. The cabinet and the first lady, everybody’s safe,” she said. “I said earlier tonight that journalism is a public service because when there is an emergency we run toward the crisis, not away from it … I saw all of you reporting and that’s what we do.”
She added, “Thank God everybody is safe and thank you for coming together tonight.”

HBO Max Says Goodbye to Zack Snyder’s Cult Classic Fantasy Epic This May
Director Zack Snyder has gone indie after spending his entire career working with major studios on some of their biggest tentpoles. Most recently, Snyder had a semi-successful run with Netflix, but it fizzled out as the streamer recalibrated its operations. Snyder had multiple potential franchises in the works at Netflix, but none of them really took off. Before that, Snyder had a long creative partnership with Warner Bros., where he directed some of the most striking big-budget movies of the 2000s. He was also responsible for creatively overseeing the controversial DC Extended Universe, which has since been rebooted by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Early in his career, following the release of three high-profile titles, Snyder made the surprising decision to pivot to a wholly unexpected project.
That movie is largely overlooked in conversations about Snyder’s career. It’s currently streaming on HBO Max, but not for much longer. The movie in question came after Snyder’s two comic book adaptations for WB — the swords-and-sandals epic 300 and the revisionist superhero movie Watchmen. For his hotly anticipated follow-up, Snyder chose to adapt a children’s novel. What’s more, he decided it should be done via the medium of animation, which he hadn’t experimented with before. The film remains one of only two WB titles that, according to former exec Greg Silverman, lost money for the studio. The other was Sucker Punch.
Here’s How Long You Have Left To Watch Zack Snyder’s Fantasy Movie
We’re talking, of course, about Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. The movie was released in 2010, just one year after Watchmen divided critics and underperformed at the box office. Legend of the Guardians tells an epic fantasy story reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings, but aimed at younger audiences. It received mixed reviews and is currently sitting at a 52% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The website’s consensus reads, “Legend of the Guardians‘ dark tone and dazzling visuals are to be admired, even if they’re ultimately let down by a story that never lives up to its full potential.” Produced on a reported budget of $80 million, the film grossed $140 million worldwide. It featured a stacked voice cast including Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, and others. You can watch the movie on HBO Max, but only until May 1. Say Goodbye to Jesse Eisenberg’s 96-Minute Cult Thriller on Netflix
Netflix is removing a highly underrated thriller very soon, and you definitely need to catch it before it leaves. Described as Taxi Driver (starring Robert De Niro) meets Fight Club (starring Brad Pitt), the film follows a lonely, underprivileged rideshare driver spiraling into a crisis of masculinity who finds a sense of belonging in a cult-like brotherhood of alpha men. It premiered at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival on February 18, 2023, and was released in the U.S. by Lionsgate on November 10, 2023.
As John Trengove‘s English-language debut, Manodrome marks a striking shift for the South African director, bringing his distinct storytelling voice to a provocative and psychologically charged premise. It is anchored by an intense central performance from Jesse Eisenberg, who portrays driver Ralphie, and a commanding turn from Adrien Brody, as “Dad Dan”, the charismatic leader of the patriarchal cult. Starting from May 8, 2026, Manodrome won’t be available to Netflix subscribers in the U.S., almost three years after its theatrical debut.
‘Manodrome’ Is the Cult Thriller You’re Missing
Although the 2023 cult thriller is not perfect, it is a compelling watch that thoughtfully explores toxic masculinity and power dynamics in relationships through a story of a men’s retreat. According to Manodrome’s synopsis, Ralphie is a man wrestling with external forces and the demons within, until he meets a mysterious family of men who welcome him as one of their own. As Ralphie struggles to define himself, pressure mounts, and a powder keg is lit that will blow a hole in the lives of everyone he touches, including his pregnant girlfriend, Sal (Odessa Young), who ultimately leaves him after giving birth to their child.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Manodrome holds an underwhelming 49% rating based on 35 reviews, with some praising the cast’s performances, as reflected in RogerEbert.com’s review. Meanwhile, in Collider’s review, the film is described as “an enthralling experience for the most part” and compared to Fight Club, such that it takes the 1999 action gem’s message and ensures the public will get it this time. Screen Rant’s review, on the other hand, notes that Manodrome falls short as both social commentary and a character study, largely due to how it frames the audience’s relationship with its protagonist’s perspective.

Say Goodbye to Michael Bay’s 144-Minute Sci-Fi Blockbuster on Streaming
Say what you will about Michael Bay, but even his critics will admit that he understands his audience better than most. Bay’s aesthetic is synonymous with action movies of the 1990s, but he kept reinventing himself as his career progressed. His adventurous spirit can also be felt in his latest narrative feature, Ambulance, which features some of the most dynamic drone footage ever projected on a big screen. For a decade spanning the 2000s and the 2010s, however, Bay remained occupied with one film franchise: Transformers. It didn’t end well, with his fifth installment — Transformers: The Last Knight — underperforming at the box office and being universally panned. But things weren’t always so dire; the franchise got off to a strong start with a movie that encapsulated everything that Bay’s movies stand for.
The movie in question is currently streaming on Peacock, but not for too long. It was released in 2007, and it remains the top-rated installment of the series according to Rotten Tomatoes, with a 57% score. We’re talking, of course, about Transformers. The movie was based on the Hasbro property of the same name, and while cynics would argue that it existed only to sell toys, Transformers also captured the imagination of millennials who grew up with it. It was headlined by Shia LaBeouf, who’d been handpicked by executive producer Steven Spielberg as Hollywood’s next big thing. Bay rounded out the cast with newcomer Megan Fox, veterans such as John Turturro and Jon Voight, along with Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson.
Here’s How Long You Have Left To Watch ‘Transformers’ on Peacock
Transformers grossed more than $700 million worldwide against a reported budget of around $200 million. Bay returned to direct Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and Transformers: The Last Knight. Aside from the final film, all previous installments were massive hits, with the third and fourth movies each grossing more than $1 billion worldwide. However, none of them received positive reviews. The franchise was rebooted twice, with Travis Knight‘s Bumblebee prequel and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, directed by Steven Caple Jr. The original Transformers movie is streaming on Peacock, but it’ll be removed from the platform along with every other installment on May 1. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Russell Brand Brutally Trolled Over Bible Passage Fumble
Russell Brand may have entered his interview with Piers Morgan hoping to gain support, but instead left facing widespread mockery.
The embattled comedian, who is currently facing multiple sexual offense charges, had attended one of his hearings carrying a Bible.
When confronted by Piers Morgan about it, Russell Brand struggled to find passages in the book, and his fumbling response drew sharp criticism from netizens.

On Friday’s episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” embattled comedian Russell Brand appeared as a guest, an appearance that surprised many given his current legal troubles.
For much of the interview, those issues were discussed, with Brand also expressing remorse to viewers about his past promiscuous lifestyle.
However, at one point, the conversation took a turn when Piers Morgan confronted Brand about a stunt he pulled while attending his hearing in February.
“Can I go back to asking you a question about your Bible?” Morgan told Brand in the episode, per The Independent.
“Is that the one you took into court? What was your thinking of taking it into court, and you were seen looking at some passages – what were the relevant passages?”
While Russell Brand did respond with the name of a verse, he struggled to identify it in his bible, fumbling as he searched for it, much to the bewilderment of Morgan.
Ultimately, Russell Brand was unable to find the verse and instead quoted another one for his interviewer.
However, the damage from his earlier fumbling had already been done, as netizens took to the internet to mock the comedian.
“The way Piers Morgan just let Russel Brand twist in the wind for over a minute, trying to find the non-existent bible verse, then give this look, dead in the camera, was just brutal. I loved every second of it,” a user said, adding a snapshot from the interview.
Another individual, who described the moment as “embarrassing,” criticized Brand for his on-air fumble.
“You bring the bible to court as part of your defense in sexual assault cases, but can’t pull a single meaningful verse on the spot? Real conviction shows in knowledge and consistency, not just carrying a book for optics,” the netizen wrote.
“I don’t often have nice things to say about Piers, but Big ups to Piers for just letting it hang and not moving the interview along so we can all see Russel got his Bible for the fashion,” one more user commented.
Russell Brand Is Facing Multiple Sexual Allegations

Brand’s appearance on Morgan’s show comes after his February hearing, where he appeared in court with a Bible and began reading from it.
It was eventually confiscated by a court officer as proceedings continued. Whatever the intent behind the stunt, it did nothing to stop prosecutors from filing two new charges of rape and sexual assault against Brand.
The alleged rape reportedly occurred between February 7 and March 1, 2009, while the sexual assault is said to have taken place between August 31 and December 1, 2009.
The comedian also faces five other sexual offense charges from four different women, said to have occurred between 1999 and 2004, including allegations of rape, oral rape, and sexual assault.
He has repeatedly denied the claims, but has acknowledged living a promiscuous lifestyle during his Hollywood heyday.
Russell Brand’s Trial Will Start In October

At the time when Russell Brand was facing five charges, his trial was expected to begin in June at Southwark Crown Court.
However, the date was recently pushed back to October following concerns raised by Justice Bennathan.
The judge said that starting the trial as originally scheduled could leave the court without enough time to properly hear all the charges.
He also pointed to potential difficulties in securing jurors who could commit through the start of the summer holiday period, given the extended duration the additional charges would bring.
Russell Brand Recently Admitted To Sleeping With A 16-Year-Old

For now, Brand is next expected to appear in court on June 16 and 17 for a pre-trial hearing to address relevant matters.
If he is ultimately found guilty on all counts, he could face a significant sentence, with the maximum penalty for rape in the UK being life imprisonment.
The comedian recently raised eyebrows during an interview with Megyn Kelly, where he admitted to sleeping with a 16-year-old while he was 30 in the UK.
However, Brand insisted he did nothing wrong, emphasizing that the age of consent in the UK is 16.
Unsurprisingly, his remarks have led to deeper scrutiny of his past and the sexual assault allegations against him.

Forget ‘The Godfather,’ Watch Tom Hanks’ 116-Minute Crime Epic Before It Leaves Streaming
Tom Hanks rarely plays morally ambiguous characters; you can probably count on one hand the number of times he’s played an outright antagonist. However, one of Hanks’ most interesting performances came at a time when he was at the peak of his success. He could have chosen to make the kind of movies that audiences were accustomed to seeing him in, but he chose to star in the sophomore feature of a breakout director, where he played a Mafia fixer who goes on a revenge mission against his boss, with his son tagging along for the dangerous ride. The movie was released in 2002, the same year as the far more accessible crime caper Catch Me if You Can, directed by Steven Spielberg and headlined by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Hanks was coming off two highly acclaimed performances in Saving Private Ryan and Cast Away. A decade had passed since he won two back-to-back Oscars for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, and was famously snubbed for his work in Apollo 13. Despite his prior recognition for Saving Private Ryan and Cast Away, Hanks did not receive an Oscar nomination for the 2002 movie. He wouldn’t receive another Oscar nomination until 2020’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. However, his 2002 movie has emerged as a cult classic in the last two decades, and his performance in it is now regarded as one of his finest.
Here’s How Long You Have Left To Watch Tom Hanks’ Crime Drama on Peacock
We’re talking, of course, about Road to Perdition. Directed by Sam Mendes as his follow-up to American Beauty, Road to Perdition remains one of the most unlikely comic book adaptations of all time. It also featured Paul Newman, Stanley Tucci, Daniel Craig, Jude Law, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film grossed more than $180 million worldwide against a reported budget of $80 million, with praise going to the performances, the cinematography by the late Conrad L. Hall, and the original score by Thomas Newman. Road to Perdition now holds a “Certified Fresh” 82% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus reads, “Somber, stately, and beautifully mounted, Sam Mendes’ Road to Perdition is a well-crafted mob movie that explores the ties between fathers and sons.” The movie is currently streaming on Peacock in the United States, but it will be removed from the platform on May 1.
