‘Stranger Things’ Officially Returns to Netflix in 3 Weeks With New Episodes

Published

on

Stranger Things Season 5

Netflix has had a wildly successful year with new projects like War Machine, the hit sci-fi movie starring Alan Ritchson from the Prime Video series, Reacher. After War Machine picked up over 135 million views during its optimal viewing window on Netflix, the film was crowned one of the streamer’s top 10 most-watched titles ever, and Netflix has already confirmed that a sequel is in the early stages of development. Netflix set out to find more sci-fi success with the TV show The Boroughs, but the show proved to be too costly to continue beyond Season 1 — Netflix canceled the show after only one season while it was still in the top 10. What made this more upsetting is that it was positioned to be the next Stranger Things, especially considering it was produced by Matt and Ross Duffer.

If the names Matt and Ross Duffer sound familiar, it’s because the duo are the creators of Stranger Things, which is one of the most popular Netflix shows ever made. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things began streaming late last year, and it continued to New Year’s Day, when the series finale was even put in select theaters for fans to enjoy on the big screen. It didn’t take Netflix long to bring back the franchise with its first spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, which dropped all episodes as a binge earlier this year. Netflix renewed the show for Season 2 not long after the premiere, and the streamer confirmed not long ago that the next batch of Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 episodes will officially hit streaming next month on September 17.

Your Hero Has Been Identified
Your Sci-Fi Hero Is…

Your answers point to the iconic sci-fi hero who shares your instincts, your values, and your particular way of facing the impossible.

Arrakis · Dune

Paul Atreides

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

  • You see further ahead than others and you plan accordingly, even when the vision frightens you.
  • You are driven by loyalty to your people and a sense of destiny you didn’t ask for but can’t escape.
  • Paul Atreides is not simply a hero — he is someone who understands the cost of power and chooses to bear it anyway.
  • That gravity, that willingness to carry what others won’t, is exactly you.

USS Enterprise · Star Trek

Captain Kirk

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

  • You take the mission seriously without ever taking yourself too seriously.
  • Your crew would follow you anywhere, not because you demand it, but because you’ve earned it.
  • Kirk’s genius isn’t tactical — it’s human. He reads people, bends rules with purpose, and wills outcomes into existence through sheer conviction.
  • That combination of warmth, audacity, and relentless optimism is unmistakably yours.

The Rebellion · Star Wars

Princess Leia

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

  • You lead through conviction. Your voice carries because your belief is unshakeable.
  • You gave up everything ordinary the moment you chose the cause, and you’ve never looked back.
  • Leia is not a supporting character in her own story — she is the moral centre of the entire rebellion.
  • That same fierce, principled, unbreakable core is what defines you.

The Nostromo · Alien

Ellen Ripley

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

  • You see threats clearly, you document the truth even when no one listens, and when the time comes you handle it yourself.
  • Ripley’s heroism is earned, not performed. She doesn’t have a speech — she has a flamethrower and a plan.
  • You share her composure under the worst possible pressure, and her refusal to pretend the monster isn’t there.
  • When it counts, you don’t flinch. That’s everything.

The Wasteland · Mad Max

Max Rockatansky

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.

  • You don’t ask for help, don’t need validation, and don’t wait for anyone to tell you the rules no longer apply.
  • Your loyalty, when it finally arrives, is absolute — but it’s earned in silence and tested in action, not in words.
  • Max is not a nihilist. He is someone who lost everything and found, against his will, that he still has something worth protecting.
  • That bruised, stubborn, ultimately human core is exactly yours.

Will ‘Stranger Things’ Ever Get a Sequel Series?

Netflix has not announced a potential Stranger Things revival series yet, but this isn’t all that surprising, considering the show went off the air less than one year ago. Netflix certainly has bigger plans for the future of Stranger Things beyond this one animated show, but the only spin-off that’s been announced is one focused on the rock found by the young Henry Creel that gave him his powers, and even that’s still in the early stages of development. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is already having a successful career post-Stranger Things, starring in Spider-Man: Brand New Day before headlining Marvel’s new X-Men movie.

Check out new episodes of Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 on Netflix and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the Stranger Things franchise.

Clayton Echard Reacts to Laura Owens Pleading Guilty to Fraud

Published

on

Clayton Echard Addresses Paternity Suit Win

Bachelor Nation’s Clayton Echard is speaking out after Laura Owens pleaded guilty to criminal charges related to a pregnancy fraud case.

“It’s the first time that we’ve seen Laura take any accountability in this matter,” Echard, 33, said in a TikTok video on Saturday, August 29, later explaining, “Upon the ending of yesterday’s court hearing, I found myself telling the other guys, the other victims, it was anticlimactic what occurred yesterday. I felt numb and emotionless. I couldn’t understand why that was.”

He continued, “I woke up today and after reflecting more … It’s because my healing was not contingent upon what occurred yesterday. I have already healed. I’m grateful for this entire experience — I know that sounds backwards. The amount of resilience I’ve built through all of this, the community I have found with all of this adversity, the power of presence that I’ve gained. The insight. Everything that has come from all of this. I would do it 1,000 times over because I’m proud of the man I’ve become through it all.”

Owens, 36, originally sued Echard in August 2023, claiming she was pregnant with his twins. Echard denied he’d had sexual intercourse with Owens during their one-night stand, with a paternity test showing that there was “little to no fetal DNA” present. (Owens has said that she had a miscarriage and claimed to have two lab tests to prove she was pregnant.)

In 2024, an Arizona judge granted Echard’s request for non-paternity and Owens was subsequently indicted by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office on criminal charges for perjury and fraud, among others. The charges relate to both Owens’ paternity allegations against Echard and against another Scottsdale man in 2021. (Owens originally pleaded not guilty in 2024.)

As part of her plea deal, prosecutors agreed on Friday, August 28, to drop other criminal charges if she pleaded guilty to two counts of fraudulent schemes and artifice, one count of perjury and one count of taking the identity of another, per The Mercury News. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office specified that the identity charge derived from Owens allegedly stealing another woman’s ultrasound image.

“It does not really matter to me what happens to Laura at this point,” Echard said on Saturday.

The case became the subject of popular podcast “Love Trapped,” which investigated accusations that Owens may have used similar legal tactics against other exes. (Owens denied any wrongdoing.)

Clayton Echard is celebrating after his lengthy paternity battle against his accuser Laura Owens came to an end on Tuesday, June 18, with the court siding with the former Bachelor. “Today is a very, very good day, because I woke up to read a very thoughtful opinion from the court and justice is finally being […]

“From the podcast, we’ve seen millions of people — which I never thought it would get to that level of a community — people have come together and fought for justice and we are on that track where we are seeing justice be served,” he said. “In two months, we will see a final end to that [when Owens is sentenced].”

Despite their three-year legal battle, Echard said he was “proud” of Owens for taking responsibility for her actions.

“Laura has never been able to take an ounce of accountability until yesterday,” he said. “That’s not lost upon me, how huge that was. I think that’s a major, potentially life-altering step in Laura’s life where her taking a sliver of accountability yesterday could be the turning point for her. I want that for Laura. I want Laura to heal. I want her to see brighter days.”

Echard called on Owens to “share why she did what she did” to help bring closure to those impacted by her actions.

“There is more healing in Laura’s redemption than there is in her destruction,” he argued.

Owens will be sentenced on October 23. Echard said in Saturday’s TikTok video that he will ask the judge to impose a prison sentence.

Anne Hathaway Joins Tom Cruise in ‘Days of Thunder’ Sequel, Release Date Set for 2028

Tom Cruise is officially getting back behind the wheel as Cole Trickle, and he’ll have Anne Hathaway alongside him when Days of Thunder returns to theaters.

Hathaway has joined Cruise as the co-lead of Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Days of Thunder sequel, nearly four decades after the original NASCAR racing film hit theaters in 1990.

Cruise will reprise his role as hotshot driver Cole Trickle, while Hathaway is set to play a race team owner and engineer. Paramount has also officially set the film for a June 2, 2028 theatrical release.

The project will be filmed for IMAX and receive an exclusive theatrical release that will also include premium formats such as Dolby Cinema and 4DX.

Cruise helped make the news official with a promotional image featuring himself and Hathaway together at Daytona International Speedway alongside a Days of Thunder race car.

Jonathan Levine, whose credits include Long Shot and Warm Bodies, will direct the sequel from a screenplay by Will Staples. Cruise will produce alongside longtime collaborator Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.

Days of Thunder [paramount pictures]

The original Days of Thunder was directed by Tony Scott and followed Trickle as he entered the world of NASCAR and attempted to transform his raw talent into success at the sport’s highest level. The film also starred Robert Duvall, Nicole Kidman, Randy Quaid and John C. Reilly.

Released in 1990, Days of Thunder went on to earn nearly $158 million worldwide and has developed a significant following among racing fans in the decades since its release.

The sequel also gives Cruise another opportunity to revisit one of his most recognizable early films following the enormous success of Top Gun: Maverick. That film reunited Cruise and Bruckheimer more than three decades after the original Top Gun and ultimately became one of the biggest box office hits of Cruise’s career.

Hathaway, meanwhile, continues an incredibly busy stretch that has included The Odyssey, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and several other major projects.

Plot details for the new Days of Thunder remain under wraps, including exactly where Cole Trickle finds himself nearly 40 years later.

But one thing is official: Cole Trickle is heading back to the track.

Days of Thunder will race back into theaters on June 2, 2028.

The Next Generation’s Perfect Quote Defines the Sci-Fi Franchise

Published

on

Star-Trek-logo-2

By the time the fifth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation blasts across television screens, the spin-off with a shaky beginning has gotten its feet firmly underneath it. The creative team is firing on all cylinders as they shrewdly expand on all that Star Trek can be. The Next Generation is still as earnestly optimistic as the blazing sun, but its increased emphasis on character depth underpins the franchise’s themes with greater resonance.

The 19th installment, “The First Duty,” continues Season 5’s streak of legendary episodes. Years before Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s ruthless eloquence interrogates the bleak cost of maintaining a utopia, Ronald D. Moore and Naren Shankar‘s script injects fault and fragility into Starfleet cadet Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton). In so doing, “The First Duty” adds another riveting, wisdom-dispensing speech to Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s (Patrick Stewart) collection — one positing a vision of Starfleet that’s rooted in a higher, more valuable ideal than spacefaring heroism.

‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Humanizes Wesley in “The First Duty”

Right before Wesley’s graduation from Starfleet Academy, a cadet dies during a training exercise. After enlisting the Enterprise crew to investigate, Picard deduces the facts: the flight team’s leader, Nicholas Locarno (Robert Duncan McNeill), wanted to feed his ego by performing a dangerous and illegal maneuver during their commencement ceremony. Between fearing punishment and Locarno misusing his charismatic influence over the peers who revere him, the quartet is concealing the maneuver and shifting the accident’s blame onto the deceased student.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix
Advertisement

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max
Advertisement

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner
Advertisement

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune
Advertisement

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars
Advertisement

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Picard confronts Wesley about his culpability, only for his erstwhile protégé to plead the fifth. Full of righteous fury, Picard proclaims: “The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it’s scientific truth, or historical truth, or personal truth. It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based. If you can’t find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don’t deserve to wear that uniform.”

Wesley has always been disliked to a disproportionately absurd degree for no crime except being a precocious, underwritten child who behaves like a precocious, underwritten child. Speaking only from a character standpoint, “The First Duty” finally does right by Wesley by deftly humanizing him with the same emotional texture and weight as his adult colleagues. This incident marks his first encounter with an ethical dilemma, let alone the ugly reality of consequences.

Instead of the perfect boy genius who likely grew accustomed to feeling like an invincible miracle worker, this is a flawed, fallible young man capable of mistakes. He’s terrified, torn between his loyalty to his friends and the guilty conscience that’s eating him alive. This is a young man learning the effort required to actually embody his aspirations. Wesley’s final choice — not his first decision, to go along with lies— will determine his future. Either he accepts responsibility and demonstrates humility and repentance while living with his error, or this one compromise will echo throughout his life.

“The First Duty” Upholds Truth as Starfleet’s Most Important Ideology

Picard intimately understands Wesley’s inevitable and pivotal moral crossroads. “The First Duty” reveals how Jean-Luc, one of Starfleet’s most compassionate, hopeful, and justice-driven officers, made at least one unspecified indiscretion during his Academy years. Add on his gradual evolution from being unfairly hostile toward his close friends’ son to his best approximation of a surrogate father, and there’s no character better suited to hold Wesley’s feet to the fire. Picard’s unrelenting reprimand isn’t his past frustrations reemerging, nor is it pompous grandstanding. Thanks to the ever-remarkable Stewart, the seismic disappointment in Picard’s words is resoundingly personal enough to stop hearts.

Those words propose a continuing mission that rings keenly true to Star Trek‘s virtuous ethos, but wields a more substantial edge. Even something as beautiful as chasing the stars collapses without truthful convictions. And the characters who stumble before ultimately choosing the harder, lonelier path of upholding that integrity understand truth’s intrinsic worth.

Scott Eastwood’s WWII Thriller Is Officially the Streaming Sleeper Hit of 2026

Published

on

Scott Eastwood in Fury

The last few months have left fans of World War II-era movies and television spoiled for choice. Toward the end of 2025, the movie Nuremberg emerged as a sleeper hit at the box office, grossing $70 million at the worldwide box office against a reported budget of $40 million. What truly turned Nuremberg into a hit is its performance in the post-theatrical phase, when it emerged as a favorite on the PVOD and streaming markets. Now, something similar is happening with another WWII movie, but this one wasn’t as successful at the box office. It is, however, finding an audience on PVOD, and has now spent more than 20 days on the domestic iTunes chart.

The movie in question was directed by Rod Lurie and headlined by the sons of two legends, Scott Eastwood and Colin Hanks. In fact, Hanks’ illustrious dad, Tom Hanks, has long been a WWII aficionado. He famously starred in the critically acclaimed blockbuster Saving Private Ryan, and then produced a trio of WWII shows — Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and Masters of the Air. In the last couple of months, he has hosted an epic 20-episode documentary series titled World War II with Tom Hanks, which has found tremendous success on both the History Channel and on the PVOD market.

What do you want to feel walking out of the cinema?
The best films leave a mark. What kind of mark do you want?

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

Two WWII Movies Are Gaining Steam at Home

Joining the series on the domestic iTunes and Amazon charts is Lucky Strike. The movie stars Eastwood as a soldier trapped behind enemy lines, armed with just a radio and a pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes. The film holds a 60% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “Presenting a straightforward tale of survival with solid suspense, Lucky Strike is a respectable tribute to wartime heroism that otherwise lacks the spark to stand out amid the crowded WWII genre.” According to FlixPatrol, Lucky Strike isn’t the only new WWII movie gaining steam on home video. Only a few weeks ago, the critically acclaimed Pressure grossed more than $15 million at the domestic box office and set itself up for success in its post-release phase. It’s now among the most-watched films on Peacock. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Martha Stewart may have just solved one of those awkward end-of-summer dressing dilemmas: what to wear when you’re ready for fall clothes but it’s still way too warm for boots. Her answer is surprisingly simple — keep the sandals, add a lightweight sweater and let the outfit do the transitioning for you.

Stewart was spotted on her Instagram wearing an olive pullover, crisp white skinny jeans, layered gold jewelry and nude Dior Dioract Sandals. Her designer shoes retail for a cool $1,200, but we found a surprisingly similar pair on Amazon for just $30.

Jennifer Garner may have just coined the most relatable accessory trend yet: the “mom grip.” The actress shared an Instagram snap with both hands completely full, proving that even A-listers know the struggle of carrying everything at once. But among the everyday essentials, one particularly luxe accessory immediately caught my eye. Garner shared the items […]

They’re also built with comfort in mind. The PU faux leather straps have adjustable Velcro closures at the toe and ankle for a more customized fit, while a 0.8-inch platform sole and curved footbed help support the arch. In other words, they’re polished enough to dress up an outfit without sacrificing all-day wearability.

More than 1,000 Amazon shoppers have given the sandals a five-star rating. One reviewer who “walked for hours every day” in them across Europe called them “comfortable, lightweight and super cute,” while another buyer wears them “almost every day” and gets “tons of compliments” because they “look cute with almost everything.”

And Stewart’s outfit shows exactly how to keep nude sandals working as the seasons shift. Wear them now with breezy dresses and linen pants, then copy her formula with white denim and a lightweight sweater once temperatures dip — an easy way to stretch sandal season a little longer.

Mama June’s Daughter To Sue School Who Revoked Acceptance

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird is considering taking legal action against a private elementary school after it allegedly revoked her daughter Ella’s acceptance because of the reality star’s adult content. Pumpkin claims the Georgia school initially moved forward with Ella’s application before administrators abruptly changed course after learning about her social media presence. The mother of four believes the school should have disclosed any concerns before accepting her daughter and taking money from the family.

Pumpkin told TMZ that she contacted the private school approximately a week and a half before administrators allegedly withdrew Ella’s acceptance. According to the reality star, staff members were initially welcoming and communicative throughout the process.

Pumpkin also visited the campus and claimed nobody raised concerns about her online work during that meeting. However, she said she was called into another meeting on Friday morning, where administrators allegedly informed her that they knew about her social media content and no longer believed her family aligned with the school’s values.

The school then withdrew Ella’s acceptance, according to Pumpkin. The private institution reportedly agreed to refund the money Pumpkin had already paid. The name of the school was not included in the available report.

Reality Star Says Her Daughter Is Better Off Elsewhere

Pumpkin claimed she did not argue with administrators after being informed of the decision. Instead, she reportedly told the school that its response convinced her Ella did not belong there. “Now that I know you guys are this judgy, my child doesn’t need to be here anyway,” she said.

Although she does not appear interested in sending Ella back to the school, Pumpkin is now considering whether to pursue legal action over how the application was handled. She reportedly believes administrators should have raised any objections to her adult content before continuing with Ella’s enrollment process.

No lawsuit was reported to have been filed, and Pumpkin did not identify an attorney representing her in the potential dispute. The school has also not been quoted responding publicly to her version of events.

Pumpkin’s Adult Content Has Sparked Family Concerns

The school controversy comes as Pumpkin continues expanding her career beyond reality television. Following her 2024 divorce from Josh Efird, the “Mama June: Family Crisis” personality began producing explicit subscription content and accepting paid dancing appearances at strip clubs.

Mama June Shannon has publicly supported her daughter’s right to make those career decisions. However, she has also warned Pumpkin about the possible long-term consequences. Speaking with TMZ earlier this month, June cautioned that “all money ain’t good money.”

Her concerns were not limited to public criticism. June specifically worried about the permanent nature of online content and the possibility that Pumpkin’s four children could encounter the material when they are older.

While the children may not currently understand their mother’s work, June noted that content uploaded to the internet can remain accessible in the future. Despite those reservations, June insisted that the subject had not created a rift between her and Pumpkin. She acknowledged that her daughter is an adult and ultimately has the right to decide how she earns money.

Mama June’s Daughter Claims Career Has Been Lucrative

Pumpkin has claimed that the financial returns from her new venture have been substantial. The reality star reportedly earned close to six figures during her first two weeks on the subscription platform. Some individual videos offered through her page have reportedly been priced at approximately $100.

Pumpkin currently creates content with her boyfriend, Darrin Kitchens. Kitchens is connected to her former husband through his stepfather. She has also discussed expanding the type of material she produces with Kitchens.

Pumpkin Claims She Earns Thousands From Strip Club Appearances

In addition to creating online content, Pumpkin has begun appearing as a paid dancer at strip clubs around the country. She recently performed at Diamonds & Lace in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Pumpkin has claimed she earns thousands of dollars from those appearances before tips are added.

Marisa Tomei Stands With Mark Ruffalo Amid Antisemitism Row

Published

on

Mark Ruffalo at 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards

Marisa Tomei has publicly thrown her weight behind activist and fellow Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo amid his antisemitism controversy.

It comes after he shared comments pushing back on Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, due to the company’s links to Larry Ellison, whose company was reportedly in bed with the Israeli military.

Earlier this week, a group of Hollywood producers issued a statement accusing the actor of “simple antisemitism” over his comments.

Marisa Tomei is the latest Hollywood figure to speak in defense of Mark Ruffalo amid his ongoing controversy sparked by his take on the Paramount acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.

She took to her Instagram Stories to share a statement by the 1A Committee, which said that the group rejects the “cynical attempt to falsely label” Ruffalo as antisemitic.

Calling the proposed merger “dangerous,” the committee spoke on Ruffalo’s personality, saying he’s someone who has chosen to use his influence “to fight for democracy, human rights, free speech, and the future of the media industry.”

“The original Committee for the First Amendment was founded to stand against blacklisting and intimidation of people for their political beliefs,” the statement said. “We will not stand by while the government or its allies revive those tactics to bully activists into silence today.”

They then called on other stakeholders to “reject” the claims and also lend their voices and platforms against the “dangerous merger.”

Alongside the statement, Tomei wrote, We stand with Mark.”

Inside Ruffalo’s Antisemitism Controversy

The standoff began last week when Ruffalo shared an old clip of former Oracle CEO Safra Catz seemingly discussing the “profoundly scary technologies” the company built for the Israeli military following the October 7, 2023, terror attack by Hamas.

The post was from the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, a Palestinian-led campaign pushing back against Israel’s occupation.

BDS captioned the clip by accusing Oracle of being “complicit in war crimes and crimes against humanity — including apartheid and genocide against Palestinians.”

Alongside the clip, the “13 Going on 30” actor noted that the war in Gaza was “a genocide, which was built on an apartheid system of oppression powered by Oracle.”

Oracle is led by billionaire co-founder Larry Ellison, who’s reportedly earmarked $40.4 billion in financing for his son David Ellison’s Paramount to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery and complete the merger.

Ruffalo slammed Larry as a “classic Oligarch,” warning that the “most destructive and inhuman forces in the world” would be at the helm of affairs in one of the most important media companies if the merger happens.

Paramount Accuses Ruffalo Of Antisemitism

In response, studio representatives publicly reprimanded the actor, claiming his statements invoked sensitive tropes in service of a business dispute.

“We are, as always, troubled when antisemitic tropes are invoked in purported service of a business dispute,” a Paramount spokesperson said in a statement, per The Wrap.

“Words like ‘genocide’ and ‘apartheid,’ applied to a corporate transaction, aren’t just wrong — they’re a bridge too far, and they cheapen the very real suffering those words are meant to describe. This doesn’t deserve a response in kind — and to be clear, we don’t tolerate prejudice of any kind, against anyone,” the insider added.

They also noted that the situation “exposes the true motivation of some who have advocated opposition to this transaction.”

The “Poor Things” actor rejected the accusations in a follow-up statement, calling Paramount’s stance “appalling and fundamentally dishonest.”

“Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people,” Ruffalo wrote on X. “This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel.”

He went further to mention that his position on the matter comes from his personal political views and shouldn’t be translated as “hostility toward Jewish people,” for whom he claims to have “deep love and respect.”

The actor doubled down on his take, explaining that the merger has “real consequences,” among which are the threat to press freedom and the loss of livelihood for many families.

Nearly 1,000 Hollywood Insiders Blast Ruffalo

Meanwhile, a group of Hollywood producers, including Haim Saban, Lawrence Bender and Teddy Schwarzman, accused Ruffalo of “simple antisemitism” due to his remarks over the deal.

In an online statement issued by a group of nearly 1,000 industry insiders, which calls itself ‘The Brigade’, they claimed the actor invoked tropes and that his comments weren’t only geared toward the merger.

“This is not commentary on a merger. It is not a criticism of a government. It is simple antisemitism, where Jewish executives are portrayed as a secretive and powerful wealth-hoarding elite delighting in mass death,” the group told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Singling out Jewish executives and describing them in terms lifted from centuries-old antisemitic conspiracy theories, while invoking Israel as the frame for that attack, is antisemitic,” The Brigade said.

Dolly Parton’s 5 Most Memorable Movie Performances

Published

on

sandra-bullock-dolly-parton-miss-congeniality-2

The passing of Dolly Parton has shook, well, everyone. You know you’re universally loved when you’re mourned equally by drag queens and good ‘ol boys. She was a one-of-a-kind country music icon, but that was far from all. She was also a savvy businesswoman, devoted philanthropist, and a pretty damn fine actress, too.

In the ’80s and early ’90s, Dolly carved out a memorable place in the movies. Though she never quite hit leading-lady status, she was a reliable on-screen presence, charismatic, warm, and brimming with homespun charm. Who needs range? She was always Dolly, and we loved her for it. These five performances are perfect for fans who aren’t ready to say goodbye, and want just a little more Dolly in their lives.

‘Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous

Let’s be clear: Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous is not a good movie. It scores an underwhelming 15 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and even Sandra Bullock has admitted it “shouldn’t have been done.” But doggone it if a cameo from Parton doesn’t steal the show. In Las Vegas to hold a press conference as the “new face of the FBI,” Bullock’s Gracie Hart begins investigating the kidnapping of a beauty pageant winner and host. A tip that a Dolly Parton impersonator abetted the kidnappers sets Hart off when she spies the platinum-haired “impersonator” moving through a casino.

An on-foot chase ensues, with the petite pursued booking it through a crowded casino like O.J. Simpson at the airport in one of those 1970s Hertz ads. Ultimately, Hart catches up, tackling her quarry only to find she’s — the real Dolly Parton. You can see the punchline from a mile away, but it works because Dolly sells it — out of breath, exasperated, and just plain funny.

‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas’

Sharing top billing with Burt Reynolds in a screwball musical comedy, Parton is the draw. She plays Miss Mona, the madame of a Texas brothel called the Chicken Ranch. By look-the-other-way arrangement, the institution is protected by the local authorities, notably Reynolds’ Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd, who is in a secret relationship with Miss Mona. Everything is imperiled when a reporter threatens an exposé.

It’s a musical, so of course Parton was going to kill it. She sings throughout, owning showstoppers like the opener, “A Lil’ Ole Bitty Pissant Place,” and duets like “Sneakin’ Around” with Reynolds. But her performance of “I Will Always Love You,” a re-recording of her 1974 hit for the film, is the true highlight.

‘Straight Talk’

After a string of successful performances in the 80s, Parton got a crack at being a leading lady in 1992’s Straight Talk. Leaving the tiny town of Flat River, Arkansas, her character, Shirlee Kenyon, moves to Chicago and gets a job as a receptionist at a radio station. Mistaken for the station’s new call-in therapist, she’s rushed into the booth and starts dispensing no-nonsense advice to distressed callers. The show is a success among listeners, who believe she’s an actual doctor. At the same time, she begins a romantic relationship with a reporter, played by James Woods, who is secretly investigating her credentials.

Straight Talk wasn’t a big hit, and it didn’t launch her into the rom-com game, but Dolly was Dolly, and it worked. Listening to her dispense homespun counsel as “Dr. Shirlee” is as comforting as a warm blanket.

‘Steel Magnolias’

Robert Harling’s 1987 stage play about a cadre of Southern women whose bond strengthens in a time of crisis turned out to be a natural fit for Parton. Among a formidable group of seasoned actresses — Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Julia Roberts, Darryl Hannah, and Olympia DukakisDolly more than held her own. Director Herbert Ross reportedly openly questioned Parton’s acting ability on set, but her performance was loved by audiences and critics.

Playing Truvy Jones, a hair stylist with a heart of gold and a mind for gossip, didn’t seem like much of a stretch for Parton. Still, she turned the role into something special, proving her ability to fully inhabit a role and make it look easy. “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion,” quips Truvy at one point. Enough said.

‘9 to 5’

9-to-5-Jane-Fonda-Dolly-Parton-Lily Tomlin

Her breakout role was her best. Parton is a hoot alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in this classic workplace comedy. As the buxom Doralee Rhodes, she’s an absolutely winsome member of the secretary pool, elevated to true heroine when Dabney Coleman’s chauvinistic company vice president finally gets around to a blackmail attempt to get her to sleep with him.

The role was one thing, but the song was something else entirely. Parton’s title song for the movie soundtrack struck a chord, a workplace anthem to outdo Johnny Paycheck’s “Take This Job and Shove It.” It was Dolly’s only number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and launched her from country queen into the pop culture mainstream. She never left.

2 Years Later, the Worst Sci-Fi Video Game Movie Ever Made Is Officially a Streaming Hit

Published

on

4jgozu1zkfpmjtwap35pcfkmgu8.jpg

While video game adaptations have mostly turned their reputation around after a disastrous few decades, one recent movie set them back significantly with its poor critical and commercial reception. In recent times, films such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie, A Minecraft Movie, and shows such as The Last of Us have achieved major success, pushing video game adaptations into a new era. For most of the 2000s and 2010s, video game movies were either critically reviled or commercially unsuccessful. Studios invested heavily in projects such as Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed, but weren’t able to turn them into long-running franchises. A movie released theatrically in 2024 was received just as poorly as the earlier titles, not only failing to launch a franchise, but also emerging as a historic flop.

The movie in question recently saw a resurgence on streaming, perhaps attracting curious audiences wondering just how bad it could be. The film featured a stacked cast that included proven box-office draws such as Jack Black and Kevin Hart, alongside one of the most admired actors of her generation, Cate Blanchett. It was directed by Eli Roth, who broke out as a horror filmmaker before diversifying into children’s movies and action thrillers. Roth’s video game adaptation ran into production troubles and was overhauled in post-production by the studio. Tim Miller was hired to conduct reshoots, while the original writer, Craig Mazin, preferred taking his name off the project entirely. Mazin won accolades for his work on HBO’s The Last of Us.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Here’s the Critically Reviled Video Game Movie Making a Comeback on Streaming

We’re talking, of course, about Borderlands. The movie grossed just $33 million worldwide against a reported budget of $120 million. Reviews weren’t encouraging either; the movie now holds a 10% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “Glitching out in every department, Borderlands is balderdash.” According to FlixPatrol, Borderlands emerged as one of the most popular movies on the domestic Peacock chart this week, when the leaderboard was topped, ironically, by The Super Mario Bros. Movie. You can check out Borderlands at home, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
