Ann Mashburn is having their seasonal sale, and there are a ton of nice pieces marked 50% off — including these lovely slingbacks.
We just gave a shoutout to this brand in our updated roundup of the best brands for comfortable heels — so it’s great to see the prices come down by so much. These slingback heels have a cute square toe and buckle detail to make them just a bit more interesting. (As the brand page says, it’s “one of Ann’s favorite (and Frenchest) ways to zhush up a pair of jeans.”
The slingbacks were $395, but now come down to $197.50 at the sale. (The sale also has a ton of clothing and other accessories.)

Can You Wear Shorts to Work?
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
The other day, the New York Times had a quick video on “how to elevate a classic white tee,” a story that we’ve also done here at Corporette. But I was taken aback by her suggestion for an “office look”: tailored shorts… with a sweater wrapped around her waist, which she describes as “a nice accessory that adds a bit of contrast.”

Now, our focus here at Corporette has always been for more conservative offices — but I was still surprised that a) she featured pants elsewhere in the video! and b) shorts + sweater-around-waist was the only “nice office look” she could come up with.
(Honestly, I even raised an eyebrow at the sweater tied around the waist in the first shot, where it looks like she’s wearing a skirt!)

So, the questions for you:
- can you wear shorts to your office?
- for your office, would a sweater wrapped around your waist be an OK look?
- if yes to both (or either), are there any business casual rules that you recognize or have been told?

Irish Fashion Designers On A Global Stage
Irish fashion designers are rapidly gaining global recognition, with a new wave of talent shaping the future of luxury and couture. From major fashion houses to international runways, designers from Ireland are blending heritage craftsmanship with modern creativity, making a powerful impact on the global fashion industry.
A new generation of innovative Irish creators is leading the way, including JW Anderson at Dior, Simone Rocha, and Standing Ground.
Jonathan Anderson
In 2025, Jonathan Anderson was appointed Creative Director at Dior for womenswear, menswear, and haute couture, following his tenure at Loewe and at his own eponymous, much sought-after label, JW Anderson. His debut Dior collections have been widely applauded for evolving the house’s heritage.
This week, he announced that the Fall 2027 show will take place in the Long Room at Trinity College Dublin in December.
“Showing at Trinity College Dublin is a dream come true,” said Anderson. “I began my career in Dublin, so returning here feels deeply personal.”
It marks a full-circle moment for the Irish designer from Magherafelt in Derry.
Simone Rocha
Simone Rocha is one of the most influential Irish voices in contemporary fashion, known for her signature combination of femininity and romance. In June 2026, Rocha was invited to the 110th edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence, becoming one of the few women and the first Irish designer to receive such a high distinction.
Here, Rocha presented her Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection, which showcased a tender and romantic vision of masculinity. This marked a major milestone in her career, as it was her first independent men’s runway show.
Standing Ground
Earlier this month, Standing Ground showcased its Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 collection at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. The collection featured distinctive sculptural corsetry, intricate beadwork, and architectural drapery. One of the standout pieces was a showstopping gown constructed from traditional Irish Carrickmacross lace, handcrafted by 26 artisans.
The project was a collaboration between Irish couturier Michael Stewart of Standing Ground and Monaghan-based lace artisans, with designer-educator Natalie B. Coleman coordinating and facilitating. It was funded by Design & Crafts Council Ireland, with support from The Heritage Council.
Standing Ground’s haute couture showcase at the Irish Embassy in Paris cemented Michael Stewart’s place in couture.

A Little Texture Between Prints
Rosewater House Vest (sold out, similar here), Sea NY Pants (sold out, similar here), Manolo Blahnik Heels, Chanel Bag, Irene Neuwrith Necklace (similar, less expensive here), Hermes Scarf (similar here)
My favorite outfit equation usually starts with print, and then I use texture to add dimension. It gives a patterned look somewhere to land, something you notice after the color, so your eye travels through the mix instead of getting lost in it. In an outfit packed with color, something tactile makes the whole thing feel more considered, almost a resting point that lets you take in one vibrant pattern before moving on to the next.
Valentino Shirt, Gwen Bra Top, Alemais Pants (more sizes here, matching top here), Dries Van Noten Wedges, Savette Bag (more colors), Jenna Blake Elephant Pendant
That is also why texture works so well when you want to lean further into print. The right piece can move between patterns without every shade lining up exactly, which keeps a busy look feeling connected rather than competing with itself.

Tuesday’s Workwear Report: Nikko Heirloom Cardigan
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
It’s hard for me to think about sweaters when the thermometer is above 80 degrees, but I’ve seen SO many cute options for the fall. This cardigan from Cinq à Sept is a little fancier than the back-of-the-chair cardigan that I keep in my office for temperature-related emergencies, but I love it. The embellished design feels fun, but not too over-the-top.
Pair with your favorite trousers for a lovely business casual look.
The sweater is $395 at Bloomingdale’s and comes in sizes XXS-XL.

Coffee Break: Illuminating Nail Concealer
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is still going for about another week — in terms of “what’s new,” they are having daily beauty deals that I’m having fun checking each day. Today’s deal includes a ton of nice deals on Londontown nail products, including their best-selling illuminator.
I already have this one in pink, and really don’t need another one… but for $14 I am very tempted by the “original” shade, pictured here. There’s also a newer, whiter Quartz if you’d prefer that. If you aren’t familiar with the brand, this is a “your nails but better” look — and they dry extremely quickly.
The nail concealer is $20 regularly, but for today only is marked down to $14. All of the Londontown products at Nordstrom are on sale, including their lotions, cuticle oils, gel nail products, sheer nail polishes, veil polishes, and of course the illuminators.
