The Pieces for Warm Weekends Ahead
Outfit Details: Gwyn Dress, Chanel Belt, Miu Miu Flats (sold out, similar here and here), Janessa Leone Hat, Jacques Marie Mage Sunglasses
Labor Day may be around the corner, but in Charleston, early September still gives plenty of reasons to dress for the sun. Stripes feel crisp again, and the woven bag stays by the door. A brown loafer or an olive belt gives a cotton day dress a bit more shape. The fabrics and silhouettes haven’t really changed, the pieces I’m reaching for are still light and easy. It’s the details that are doing the work.
Outfit Details: Gwyn Dress, Chanel Belt, Miu Miu Flats (sold out, similar here and here), Janessa Leone Hat, Jacques Marie Mage Sunglasses | Prada Tank (sold out, similar here), Merlette Skirt, Call It By Your Name Loafers (sold out, similar here)
There’s a fine balance right now between dressing for the forecast and dressing for what the calendar says. I’m done with the resort-forward version of summer, but I’m not reaching for a sweater yet either. So the accessories carry it: a belt at the waist, a loafer instead of a sandal, a print that reads a little more composed. The same breathable pieces, just pulled into September.

Suit of the Week: Boss

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women’s suits of 2026!
I was perusing Hugo Boss’s offerings for women’s suits, and I like the pictured suit, as well as the other matching blazer (a shrunken one!).
But first, we need to discuss: Boss has cargo pants with a suit. The jacket that matches the cargo pants is both cropped and oversized. I’m… not sure how to feel about this. I would expect this from one of the younger suiting shops like Abercrombie, or one of the more creative suiting brands like Frankie Shop — but BOSS. Whoa. Thoughts?
Another interesting note: Boss is all in on buttons this year! I cannot remember seeing a double-breasted blazer with quite so many buttons. Even the shrunken blazer has two buttons. (And the pants have flap pockets… with buttons.)
The pictured blazer is $649 (as is the other matching blazer), and the pants are $349.

A PRE-FALL PURPLE EDIT

Purple is one of the *it* colors of the season. Somewhat surprisingly, it has been a bit harder to find it in new arrivals sections, which is a bit of a mystery to me. I decided to scour my twenty favorite sites to shop for the best purple pieces for pre-fall. I am absolutely smitten with these purple flats, these gloves that I just ordered, and this awesome oversized clutch that comes at an excellent price. And, iff you are ever looking for more color inspiration, I actually have several boards here organized for you. More purple picks below…

Wednesday’s Workwear Report: Rollneck Reversible Cardigan
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
I am totally delighted by the idea of this reversible rollneck cardigan from J.Crew. I haven’t tried it on in person yet, but the brand claims that it can be worn with the buttons in the front as a cardigan or flipped around as a regular sweater. As someone who wore a lot of J.Crew in the late ’90s/early 2000s, the familiar rollneck style feels like a fun dip into nostalgia, but the cable knit at the sides feels like a fun update.
From the reviews, it sounds like you might want to size up if you want something a little more roomy.
The sweater is $118 at J.Crew and comes in sizes XXS-3X and in four other colors.
Sales of note for 8/28:

September Forecast – Julia Berolzheimer
September is already looking to be a whirlwind of a month! We’ve had a handful of things happen that made us pivot for most of August. However, most of September has been planned out of months, so we’ve been expecting much of this big push. Right now we have about 10 different things happening with our home, packed kids schedules, a whole lot of travel and two collaborations coming together! Grateful and overwhelmed are coexisting permanently in my life right now. Here’s a look at my month again…
What We’re Doing
- We are starting the month with a short but relaxing long weekend to Blackberry Mountain with some friends.
- We’re going to fashion week! It’s been years since I’ve attended any of the fashion weeks and I am invigorated with excitement. I have a deep appreciation for the runway shows– getting to view the collections up close, seeing the vision behind the most creative minds who inspire what we wear, what we buy and how we define our style for the seasons ahead. I’m thrilled to share as much as I can! I’ll be attending NYFW and Paris Fashion Week at the end of the month.
- I love seeing all of the fall collections come out. I’ve been saving pieces that have caught my eye since the fall/winter runways shows and recently shared my fall moodboard here on Trade Offs.
- I somehow missed the memo years ago about the Throne of Glass series and am just now reading them. I finished Crown of Midnight last month and am now starting Heir of Fire.
- I’ve been back in the gym last month weight lifting again after taking most of the summer off. It feels good to have sore muscles again!
- We have two collections we’re shooting in Charleston this month– more sneak peeks coming in our private chat on Substack (we’ll also be posting our September ‘Ask Us Anything’ there, too).
What I’m Wearing
- This purple shirt has been on repeat, as well as the skirt. See daily looks here, and here.
- A bag that’s under $600, beautifully made, and I’ve been reaching for over and over. Vanessa Bruno knocked it out of the park with this suede fringe shoulder bag.
- Not outdoors, but this sweater has been my go-to grab for that air conditioning chill.
- This Ulla Johnson set (top & shorts) is so good irl.
- I wear this grey tee all the time. It’s on the pricier side for a simple t-shirt, so I found a few good alternatives if you’re on the hunt. This one is half the price and has the same heathered-grey texture (also a brand I’m a big fan of), and this one is half the price of that!
- I bought this Toteme printed scarf last year (worn here) and it’s back in stock! I plan on wearing it with a white tee and jeans for this in-between weather.
- I’ll be re-wearing my favorite High Sport pants in purple and red. Sadly the purple is sold out, but Boden just came out with pants in a similar grape shade and they’re under $130.
- I am praying for a dip in temperature so I can pull out these fringe jeans, even for just a morning!
- I really love the most recent Staud collection and sat with it for a bit before impulse buying too many things. I ended up narrowing it down to this top, which I’m already styling a handful of ways in my head for different events this month.
- These purple balloon pants are under $50 and one of my favorite Zara finds.
- I really wanted this Chanel pullover that I had saved from the runway but opted for this very similar one for under $200.
What I’m Buying
- Reformation has me right now. I feel like a broken record because I’ve mentioned it on Whims a few times, but they keep catching my eye. I placed an order last month (for these purple sandals and pants), and now I have these three things sitting in my cart: this skirt, these wedges, and this dress.
- A few coats that sold out last fall that I kicked myself for not getting were this jacket, this jacket (long version here) and this coat. All back in stock with fresh sizes!
- Short pencil skirts are popping up everywhere and I’m on board. Here are a few that caught my eye: this gold embellished one, this embellished marigold one, this turquoise leather one, and this pony hair cheetah one.
- I have these Chan Luu pants in gold and cream, but now this orchid color is screaming my name for fall!
- This Dries Van Noten wrap skirt
- Lots of fabulous fringe coming out for fall! This Zara dress is a no-brainer under $150, but I’m also loving the new Ulla Johnson pieces– this skirt and this dress.
- Beauty items I stocked up on after travel:
- I’m a big fan of &Daughter’s knitwear. All of their pieces are crafted in the UK and Ireland and they hold up incredibly well. No surprise here, but I love their new “vivid purple” color– pullover here and cardigan here.
- New fall things for my girls including:
