The Poolside Packing List – Julia Berolzheimer
OUTFIT DETAILS: DSquared2 Hat, Simon Miller Bikini Top, Simon Miller Bikini Bottoms, Kyann Shirt, SIR Bikini Top, SIR Bikini Bottom, Christopher Esber Sandals, Retrosuperfuture Sunglasses (similar here), Magda Butrym Headscarf
There’s a difference between throwing a few things in a bag on your way out the door and reaching for the pieces that make a pool day feel like its own occasion. By now I know exactly what earns a spot in my bag, and it’s never just a towel and a hat tossed in as an afterthought. I want everything to have a purpose, but still feel like me.
A hat that turns a bikini into an actual look. Headphones that double as an accessory. Games that keep everyone hanging around long after the swimming is done. These are all pieces that work as hard as they look good, and the ones that make the whole day feel a little more stylish without trying too hard.

Frugal Friday’s Workwear Report: Flower Polo Sweater
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
This cheery floral polo from Nanette Lepore is just screaming “summer” to me. I love the retro-inspired flowers and the Johnny collar for a more relaxed business casual vibe. It does look like it might be a bit more cropped than I would normally prefer, but I think it would look great paired with a swingy midi skirt and some flats for a casual Friday look.
The sweater is $29.97 at Nordstrom Rack and comes in sizes S-XL. It also comes in two other color combos.

Claire’s Life: Au Revoir Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week! Reflections on 20 Years Wearing Miss Circle, Christian Louboutin, Cartier and Hermes
Today is sadly my last day in Paris. For now.

In just a few hours I’ll be headed back on a long flight back to the States, my oversized luggage in tow.

After 20 years of Fashion Bomb Daily, every event feels more significant. As I was sitting in the Manish Malhotra show, looking around at the grand settings, I felt a tremendous sense of gratitude. Because of your support of my little blog, I am able to enter rooms like these, and perhaps show you something that inspires you, designers you have yet to discover, or people you might like to know.

I think it was at our 1st year anniversary that I finally showed myself on this site. Up until then, I was a headless, at first anonymous 20 something living in New York. I remember that in addition to people feeling refreshed to know who I was, someone commented about how low my dress was in the front or something like that. There will always be critics, but also those who celebrate you at every step.

I’ve learned to take the good with the bad, and realize that part of my assignment here is to be an example for other people out there who don’t always see themselves reflected in any industry they aspire to partake in.

I’m here to represent for the women, the curvy women, the women of color who love fashion, were not born into the 1%, are not singers, actors, rappers or reality stars…but still enjoy style. Whether people think they’re stylish or not!

I thank you so much for joining me on this ride. From crashing fashion week shows to front row at Haute Couture, one blog post, Instagram Post, Tik Tok Post, and You Tube Video (!) at a time.
20 years down, we’ll see how many more to go:)

Smootches!

What to Wear on a Boat Day
OUTFIT DETAILS: Valentino Jacket, Follow Suit Bikini (bottoms here), Valentino Skirt (on sale), Magda Butrym Scarf, Bottega Veneta Sunglasses, Call It By Your Name Tote
Boat day dressing is less about having one perfect piece and more about the fun of mixing separates that are equal parts functional and stylish. The best pieces layer easily depending on the moment, whether you’re climbing out of the water, heading into town for lunch, or just need a little protection on your shoulders from the midday sun. Prints catch the breeze, crochet and raffia bring texture, and a bright sandal or shell detail feels even better against the water.
Accessories do double duty here, serving form and function in equal measure. A scarf keeps your hair pulled back. Sandals stay put on a wet deck but still feel cute once you’re back on dry land. Color can be a little louder, the details can feel more expressive, and the whole look comes together ready for sun, salt air, and long afternoons on the water.

Coffee Break: Button Bow Box

I was perusing Polene’s website the other day and was really intrigued by this unusual “button box box.” It’s part of their collaboration with Róisín Pierce. As they describe it:
Unveiled at Paris Fashion Week, the “Button Bow Box” is the fruit of an encounter between Róisín Pierce’s feminine, poetic universe and Polène’s signature leather craft.
Meticulously sculpted in wood, its structured form is wrapped in supple nappa leather by skilled artisans and adorned with sixty-four hand-stitched buttons and bows. The shoulder strap is decorated with oval droplets held in place by knots.
I was unfamiliar with Róisín Pierce prior to this; a look at the website makes this all even more interesting because the brand is so artsy and ethereal. I truly don’t think I’ve seen another bag like this.
The bag is $1,190 and available in cloud (pictured), a navy ink, and a porcelain white.

Tudor, the Smart Way Into Luxury Watchmaking
There is a moment in most people’s style journey when a fashion watch stops feeling like enough and a real luxury piece starts to call, yet the leap can look steep. The good news is that the gap is not as wide as it seems, and the bridge has a name. For anyone eyeing that step up, tudor watches offer the craftsmanship and heritage of high end watchmaking at a point that feels reachable rather than reckless. It is a genuine entry into the luxury conversation, not a compromise. So why does it work so well as a first serious watch?
Serious pedigree without the top tier price
Tudor was founded to deliver the reliability of a legendary Swiss house at a more accessible price, and that mission still shapes every piece. The result is a watch with real horological substance, built to standards that have nothing to prove, offered at a level that a first time buyer can actually justify.
That combination is rare. It means the step up from a fashion watch brings a genuine jump in quality and story, rather than simply a higher price tag attached to the same idea.
Style credibility that lasts
A luxury watch earns its keep by staying relevant long after a trend piece has been forgotten. Tudor’s designs draw on decades of heritage, which gives them a confidence that reads as effortless rather than trend chasing. This is the kind of watch that looks as right in ten years as it does today.
For anyone building a wardrobe with intention, that longevity is the whole appeal. A piece with real staying power quietly signals taste in a way that a here today accessory never can.
Finding the model that fits your look
The line has more range than newcomers expect, so it pays to think about the mood you want before settling on a model:
- A dive inspired piece on a steel bracelet brings a bold, sporty confidence.
- A cleaner, dressier dial slides neatly under a cuff for polished, grown up looks.
- A fabric or leather strap softens the whole feel and adds personality.
Picturing the outfits you actually wear is the fastest way to land on a watch you will reach for constantly rather than save for special occasions.
Getting the size and fit right
A first luxury watch should feel as good as it looks, which makes fit essential. The case should sit balanced on the wrist without sliding around, and the diameter should suit your frame rather than simply chase a trend for larger or smaller sizes. Comfort is what turns an impressive watch into a daily one.
Strap and bracelet choice shape the proportions too, with a slimmer strap reading more refined and a solid bracelet making more of a statement. A minute spent checking the fit tells you more than any spec sheet.
The step up that actually makes sense
Moving into luxury watchmaking does not have to mean overreaching, and Tudor is proof that the smart first step is very much within reach. Lean on its pedigree and heritage, trust the lasting style credibility, choose a model that suits your everyday looks, and get the fit right for your wrist. Do that and your first real watch becomes a piece you grow into rather than out of, and a confident start to a longer story.

Celia Kritharioti Unveils “Frozen Eden” for Fall 2026 Couture, and Jennifer Lopez Stops the Show Before It Even Starts
Celia Kritharioti closed out Paris Haute Couture Week with a collection as dramatic as its guest list. Titled “Frozen Eden,” the Fall 2026 show transformed the designer’s Place Vendôme venue into a glittering, snow-covered fantasy, but the real spectacle started before a single model hit the runway.
Scheduled for 10am, the show sat delayed for nearly an hour as photographers and editors waited inside the intimate space. The holdup? Jennifer Lopez. The superstar didn’t arrive until around 11am, and when she did, paparazzi scrambled for a shot in the tight quarters, turning the front row into its own kind of runway moment.
Once the show finally began, it was clear the wait was, at least visually, worth it. Guests sat on faux snow beneath trees dripping in icicles, a striking contrast to the real Paris summer heat outside. Kritharioti’s concept followed an “eclectic game of hide and seek between shadow and light,” and the collection delivered on that promise scene by scene.

Models walked in crystal-embellished gowns, frosted lashes, and hair dusted with fake snow, channeling an ice-princess mood built for cooler climates. Velvet, feathers, and fringe moved through a palette of black, white, gold, teal, and red, while some faces were adorned with jewels in place of traditional makeup.

Sheer, lace-heavy silhouettes made a strong showing too, including a standout snake-inspired dress that had the room talking. Silver-plate embellishments caught the light with every step, and the drama extended to the runway itself — snow was deep enough that more than one model lost a shoe mid-walk.

The show closed with snow falling over the finale, a fittingly theatrical send-off for a collection built entirely around the idea of a frozen fairytale.

What do you think?

The Best East-West Bags for Work in 2026
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Sure, we all know what wardrobe essentials for work professional women are supposed to have in their closets, but if you’re buying one for the first time or replacing one you’ve worn into the ground, it can be a pain to find exactly the right incarnation in stores. In “The Hunt,” we search the stores for a basic item that every woman should have.
The East-West bag trend has been going for a year or so — but I am still seeing them absolutely everywhere. So let’s discuss — are you a fan of East-West bags? Will you wear them to work, or are they more similar to a clutch for you in that you’ll only carry it to social outings? Which brand’s take on the trend is your favorite?
I took a quick look at some great options from reader favorite brands…

The Best East-West Bags for Work in 2026
The Best Budget-Friendly East-West Bag: Quince

First up: Quince. This Italian Leather Double Strap Shoulder Bag hits all the major notes — it’s East-West shaped, and made of real leather. I like that it has an interior pocket, as well as a magnetic snap closure. It’s $98 at Quince, available in black and brown.
The Internet Favorite: Freja

It’s easy to see why this Freja bag is the internet favorite — it’s mostly affordable ($278), has an interesting, and has a distinctive shape both with the slight slope to the top of the bag as well as the triangular body. It is faux leather, unfortunately, but it’s made with OEKO-TEX certified materials. It has a magnetic closure and patch interior pockets. You can find it at Shopbop, Revolve, and FrejaNYC.com. Looking for a similar option in leather? This Coach bag looks nice.
The Quiet Luxury Bag: Parisa Wang

Parisa Wang is a new brand to me, but I love their take on the trend — the curved top to this bag is distinctive while also comfortable, and personally I prefer the more rectangular (and not triangular) body — even though it means you’re giving up real estate I always feel weird carrying a triangle bag under my arm. It’s also interesting to note that they say they use the same manufacturer as Prada! The Gabrielle is $498 in multiple colors in suede, pebbled leather, and smooth leather versions. Try code CORPORETTE12 to take 12% off sitewide!
The Reader Favorite Brand: DeMellier

Readers love DeMellier for sleek, high quality leather — and I love all the colors this New York Shoulder bag comes in. I like the gold-plated hardware, the zip top closure (huzzah!), and the way the bag can move from day to night seamlessly. They have it in three materials: small grain leather (pictured), suede, and raffia. The light blue one is fabulous if you’re looking for something slightly different. (You can also find some colors and sizes for the New York series at Nordstrom!)
The Investment Bag: Ferragamo

Some would say you should go for one of the leaders of this trend for your investment bag, such as Alaia’s Le Teckel, but for my money I’d go with Ferragamo. I have always loved the clean look of their Hug line of bags, and this east west shoulder bag is no different.
I like that there are two interior card slots, leather lining and leather bag, and of course excellent craftsmanship. The bag is $2500 at Nordstrom, NET-A-PORTER, or Ferragamo.com. (Oh my goodness — Ferragamo has 2 of the hug bags in a bright cobalt Klein blue. LOVE.)
