As a large amount of debris is on the motorway, the traffic remains held with delays on approach. A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The collision has left a significant amount of debris in the carriageway.

Chen Jiao has a curious job: transforming visitors to resemble empresses from ancient China as young people explore a revival of traditional culture.

She is one of hundreds of makeup artists working at studios in Beijing near the Forbidden City, once home to the emperors of China’s last two dynasties, Ming and Qing.

Every day, visitors arrive to dress in robes richly embroidered with phoenixes and adorn themselves with jade and pearl pendants and gold fingernail guards like those worn in imperial China. Makeup is carefully applied, and their hair is styled and decorated with tassels and hairpins.

The average cost is 300 yuan ($45), though prices can exceed 1,000 yuan (more than $150).

Once dressed up, people go to the walls and moat surrounding the Forbidden City to pose for photos and videos to share on social media. Blending echoes of ancient times with modernity, some pair their historic costumes with sneakers and sunglasses and drink bubble tea.

“It can get very busy during peak seasons, especially public holidays and weekends,” Chen said.

Recently, she began work at 6 a.m. and transformed around two dozen young women in a single day. There is no off-season for makeup artists, only a brief lull when the Forbidden City closes, she said.

Recent years have seen a trend among young people for immersive experiences in historical Chinese costume, which in Beijing is mainly inspired by the country’s last two dynasties.

The Ming dynasty, which ruled for more than 270 years until 1644, built the Forbidden City and reinforced the Great Wall. The Qing dynasty, ruled by the Manchu people, itself collapsed in 1912, ending more than two millennia of imperial rule.

Chen Xiao is among the tourists who now come for the the styling activities at Beijing’s historical sites.. A college student from the eastern province of Shandong, Chen traveled overnight to the capital during the recent Qingming holiday.

“I feel like if you’re at a specific location, you should wear something that fits the setting,” Chen said, wearing a pink outfit typically associated with a “Gege,” or Qing dynasty princess.

The building where Chen Jiao’s studio is located illustrates the rapid growth. Around 2020, only a handful of costume styling studios operated there. Now there are more than 100, according to local media.

“Young Chinese people have discovered the aesthetic appeal of traditional clothing while learning about China’s rich cultural heritage,” said Cai Zehong, founder of Hanfu Beijing, one of the earliest ancient-costume associations created by enthusiasts to promote traditions and cultures by the majority Han ethnicity.

The long popularity of historical costume dramas in China has contributed to the trend.

“I’ve watched a lot of historical costume dramas,” Chen Xiao said. “I think I’ve definitely been influenced by those shows. Lately, I’ve been quite into Qing dynasty history.

Liu Ruitong, a college student visiting from Hebei province, opted for a black Ming-style costume.

“I think this look feels very elegant and dignified, especially in its color palette. I chose black because it pairs beautifully with the Forbidden City and with traditional Chinese scenery in general.” Liu said.

The U.S. Coast Guard will search for evidence related to Lynette Hooker’s disappearance on the sailboat she shared with her husband, according to a new report.

Lynette Hooker vanished last month while she and her husband, Brian Hooker, were vacationing on their sailboat in the Bahamas.

The American woman vanished while the couple was riding back to their sailboat in a dinghy in the Sea of Abaco.

The U.S. Coast Guard seized the couple’s boat, named “Soulmate,” after it departed from the Bahamas. It was docked in Fort Pierce, Florida, before being moved to Fort Lauderdale, and will be searched for any clues concerning Lynette Hooker’s disappearance.

“Any sort of digital devices that you can take, any computer systems that you can extract, anything of that sort, will be taken in,” Nicole Parker, a former FBI special agent and Fox News contributor, told the network.

Bahamian officials also reportedly approved the U.S. to send a dive team to investigate the waters where Lynette Hooker vanished, according to Fox News Digital.

The team is being sent to search for evidence and, to retrieve Lynette Hooker’s body, if possible.

The new search area was selected based on GPS data recovered from the boat. According to investigators, the GPS data contradicts the location Brian Hooker provided, which pointed them to a different part of the Sea of Abaco.

He told investigators that his wife fell out of their dinghy during their trip back to their sailboat. Brian Hooker said had the key to the engine on her when she fell out, forcing him to paddle the vessel to shore before he could report her missing.

Brian Hooker, who denies any wrongdoing, has been released from Bahamian custody since the incident occurred. He was detained on April 8 during the initial investigation and was released five days later.

“I’ve never harmed Lynette, and I would never harm Lynette, and I want to find Lynette,” he told NBC News in April.

Karli Aylesworth, Lynette’s daughter, told NBC News that her mother and Hooker had a “history of not getting along, especially when they drink.”

Lynette Hooker was arrested on assault and batter/simple assault charges in 2015. A police report stemming from that incident showed that both she and her husband had accused each other of assault.

A warrant for her arrest was ultimately denied for “insufficient evidence as to who started the assault.”

Brian Hooker has not been charged with any crimes nor has he been accused of wrongdoing.

The Independent has requested comment from his attorney.

Terrel Butler, Hooker’s attorney, previously told The Independent that he “categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing” and that he has been cooperating with authorities.

“His primary concern and source of intense frustration is his inability to continue the search for his wife of 25 years,” Butler said. “The trauma of her disappearance, coupled with his current detention as a suspect, has left him in an extremely fragile state.”

Before the tragedy, the couple ran a YouTube travel called “The Sailing Hookers” in which they documented their travel experiences.

Arsenal will celebrate their Premier League title win on Sunday in front of their supporters in north London.

“It is cruel for Arsenal fans, but it is inevitable that this club win the Champions League,” European football expert Julien Laurens said on 5 Live.

“Mikel Arteta will see the positives because that is the kind of guy he is. Arsenal are getting closer and closer.”

And for Arteta, despite the pain, says he is ready to celebrate what has been a big step for his Arsenal side.

“I already know how they [the fans] feel about the team. I want to thank them for everything they’ve done for us throughout the season.”

“Difficult moments like this, they’ve been with us. It’s been a joy to see the reaction they’ve had when we’ve been able to win a league after 22 years.

“It hurts a lot for them not to win it today because I can’t even imagine what would have happened.

The streetwear brand founded over 21 years ago has plunged into administration after making millions in profit during the pandemic and being worn by celebrities

A UK fashion brand, worn by the likes of Rihanna, has collapsed into administration after generating millions in profit in recent years.

Trapstar, founded in 2005, was loved by many celebs, with Stormzy also being seen in some of the brand’s clothing.

Now, administrators have been appointed as the business was unable to find financial backing.

Administrators from Interpath Advisory were appointed on Friday after a two-month long effort to gain financial support.

The streetwear brand grew in popularity amid the Covid pandemic, generating a whopping £40m in 2022 according to reports.

A spokesperson for the brand told the Sun : “Management have advised that recent revenue decline has primarily been driven by working capital constraints impacting inventory availability, rather than any underlying demand or brand performance.”

According to reports there is interest from potential buyers as the brand seeks to help combat challenges.

As the business goes through the insolvency process it is thought that Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group may place a possible bid.

The retailer released limited editions drops and was stocked in several department stores when operational, including Selfridges on Oxford Street.

The brand has 57 employees according to its latest accounts.

Despite revenue decreasing, in 2024 the firm’s revenue sat at £17million.

Profits also decreased over time with the firm going from turning over £7.4million to just £1.2million in 2023.

The four directors of the brand receive a combined yearly remuneration of £3.6million.

The Mirror contacted Trapstar for further comment.

President Donald Trump sat down for a frictionless interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, where he also gave her a tour of the White House ballroom building site.

During the tour, Trump revealed that he plans to hold the next presidential inauguration in his new ballroom.

“It’s a great facility, and we’re going to have the inauguration here,” Trump announced to his daughter-in-law on Fox News. “It’s going to hold…I had mine in the Capitol. In the Capitol, I had 902 people, and it was still beautiful, but it was 902 people, and it’s not safe like this.”

He added that future presidents will be using his ballroom for “200 years,” and noted that he won’t get much use out of it at all.

“I’ll have it for about six months. In other words, when it’s finished … I’ll only have the use of it for six months,” Trump said in the interview that was taped earlier this week.

The president’s interview aired just hours after Trump spent most of the day ranting about a federal judge who ruled he had to take his name off the Kennedy Center and suspend his renovation plans.

The family chat began with Trump delivering his usual talking points against Democrats and lauding himself for his various military actions in Iran.

Before the tour began, Lara Trump accused the media of “melting down” over Trump’s project, which saw the partial demolition and irreversible alteration to one of the most important historical sites in the nation, all without the approval of Congress or any input from the public.

“Unsurprisingly … left-wing pundits are melting down over the ballroom project. So, what’s all the fuss about?” Lara Trump said.

During their tour, Trump insisted that the ballroom was a “gift to America.”

“From me, and from Apple, and from lots of great people and companies,” Trump said, before citing its $400 million price tag, which he says has been fully raised by private donors.

Trump bragged on his new ballroom, saying it would be both the “greatest” facility of its kind and that it will be the “most secure facility ever built.” He said that both the military and the Secret Service are involved in the project.

Lara Trump was also given a look at construction for the UFC fight on the South Lawn for the president’s 80th birthday.
