Katie Price has issued a heartbreaking plea to her terminally ill mother, begging her to ‘find the strength to stay on this earth’.

The star’s mother Amy, 74, was diagnosed with the terminal lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2017, a chronic condition which causes irreversible scarring of the lung’s air sacs making it difficult to breathe.

Last week Katie, 48, told her podcast listeners that her mum was still in hospital after being admitted in July, and is ‘very poorly at the minute.’

On Sunday night Katie shared an update on Instagram, writing an emotional message directly to her mother as she told her ‘please don’t leave me, please find the strength to stay with me longer on this earth your my EVERYTHING.’

‘And you know I’ve turned everything around and your so proud of me.Your my eyes, my voice, my strength, my absolute Everything,’ she continued.

‘You’re a warrior and I’m your baby girl always and you love me through everything and held my hand. I can’t lose you not now not EVER.’

‘I’ve NEVER loved anyone so much as you, your my WORLD.’

Katie later shared a clip of her mother talking about their bond on the star’s recent Sky documentary Nothing To Hide.

She captioned the post:  ‘A real mother that I’ve been blessed to have love and guide me through life. There are no words to how much I love you mum.’

‘I will continue to make you proud and carry your love. You are my inspiration and I’m forever blesed you are my mother in this world and beyond. Forever loving you.’

Katie appeared to be spending the weekend with her family as she had earlier uploaded a clip of her and her sister Sophie, writing that their sisterhood has been ‘tested by time, cast by fate, bound by love.’ 

Back in July, Katie revealed she was terrified their mother was going to die while they were filming her Sky documentary. 

She said: ‘There were so many times we thought we were gonna lose mum through the filming. She just keeps battling through and I never thought she’d make the BAFTAs [in February], none of us did.’

Katie also gave an update about her mother’s health on Good Morning Britain in May, after host Susanna Reid asked how Amy is doing.

She continued: ‘Mum, I know you’re watching. I know you’re unwell, but I just want to say that I love you so much.

‘I’m coming to see you tomorrow, so yeah, she’s not well at the moment, really not well. I love you so much mum, you’ll probably be tearing up watching this.’ 

Just two months earlier, Amy had battled an infection.  

Last year Katie detailed how ‘frustrating’ Amy’s ongoing health challenges were, explaining she was ‘still switched on’ but unable ‘to do the things she used to do’.

Speaking to Amy on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Katie told fans how her mum has some good days and some bad days. 

She said: ‘I do feel for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum’s gone through. Like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.  

‘Now here’s an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and say, ‘Let’s go look at the shops in Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair?’ and I’m like ‘No we’re taking your wheelchair because I’m not taking an hour.”

Amy responded: ‘It’s not doing me any good because I’m meant to walk to help myself.’  

When Amy was first diagnosed with IPF in 2017, medics told her she had a life expectancy of up to five years, with Katie later saying that she had just ‘two weeks left to live’ when she finally found a lung donor in 2022.

Giving an update on her health in November 2024, Amy told the Daily Star: ‘It’s a slow process and it’s taken a while. I’ve had quite a few setbacks but that’s to be expected but I’m in the right direction.

‘The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it’s so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don’t exercise, I won’t move forward.

‘I had a single lung transplant but it would seize up so I’ve got to exercise to get it working.’ 

It’s been a difficult time for Katie. Earlier this month it was revealed her fourth marriage was over after she discovered her husband Lee Andrews had ‘just £2.22 in his account despite claiming to be a millionaire’.

Katie’s final message to Lee, 43, on WhatsApp is reported to have said: ‘I have been played and you are not who you say you are. Why have you lied to me?’

West Ham have announced the death of their legendary former goalkeeper and coach Ludek Miklosko aged 64.

The Czech star, who played in 373 matches for the Hammers between 1990 and 1997, has passed away after a battle with cancer. 

Miklosko, known by supporters as ‘Ludo’, last visited the London Stadium in December 2024 as a Guest of Honour against Liverpool, having confirmed his cancer diagnosis. 

Since then, fans have sung his ‘my name is Ludek Miklosko, I come from near Moscow, I play in goal for West Ham’ chant at each match.

‘The giant goalkeeper will forever hold a special place in the hearts of the West Ham family,’ the club said. 

‘Everyone at West Ham United would like to extend their sincere condolences to Ludek’s family and loved ones and this very sad time.’

The much-loved Czech ‘gentle giant’ made 373 outings for West Ham and also played for QPR

Miklosko won two promotions with the Hammers, reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and League Cup, and even prevented Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United from winning the Premier League in 1995 with a man-of-the-match performance. 

He also played for Queens Park Rangers in English football. 

The ‘gentle giant’ also made two appearances for his country, and played for Hvezda Cheb and Banik Ostrava in his homeland. Mostly recently, he headed up the sports department at the latter, one of the biggest Czech clubs.

Tributes have been pouring in for Miklosko.

Former West Ham team-mate Julian Dicks wrote on X: ‘Very sad news today, the passing of Ludo, I will see you again one day my friend. Plus don’t forget to have a Czech Bud waiting for me.’

David Trunda, the head of the Czech football association, said: ‘With deep sorrow, I received the news of the death of Ludek Miklosko, one of the prominent figures of Czech football. 

‘Ludek Miklosko has significantly inscribed himself into its history with his performances as well as his approach to football, earning respect not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.

‘His name will forever be associated with a significant era of Czech football and with the values that he represented as both a player and a person. On behalf of the Football Association of the Czech Republic and on my own behalf, I express my sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, friends, and all those who had the opportunity to know Ludek and collaborate with him.

Talksport broadcaster Ian Abrahams wrote: ‘A gentle giant, a phenomenal goalkeeper, I was lucky enough to meet Ludo on a few occasions and he was a great gentleman. Thoughts with his friends, family and all at West Ham.’

One fan wrote: ‘Such sad news today of the passing of Ludek Miklosko. Often signed my programme from behind the North Bank goal at Upton Park, and fortunate enough to have met him after his playing days. A goalkeeping phenomenon. RIP ‘Big Ludo’.

Anthony Place sadly died after his Yamaha motorbike collided with a car park barrier in Rivington

A “loving partner and father” was killed instantly when he crashed into a car park barrier while riding his motorbike with no lights, an inquest heard.

Anthony Place, from Horwich, died at the scene when his blue Yamaha motorbike collided with a car park barrier on a side road off Rivington Lane, near to Rivington Barn, at 9.04pm on Wednesday April 8.

The 38-year-old, described as a “loving father and stepfather”, was taken to hospital where his body was identified by his partner, Lancs Live reports.

An inquest, held at Preston Coroner’s Court on September 9, heard that Anthony was born in Blackburn and worked as a wheel refurbisher at the time of his death. He lived at an address at St Catherines Close in Horwich.

Assistant Coroner Richard Taylor heard that the lights on Anthony’s bike were not turned on at the time of the collision.

The coroner returned a conclusion of road traffic collision and said: “Anthony Damien Place died on Rivington Lane Chorley on 8th April 2026 from injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was riding without lights in darkness collided with a car park barrier.”

After Anthony’s death his family issued a tribute via police. They said: “Rest easy our beautiful son – you left us way too soon. Your smile lit up every room you went in to and your energy gravitated on to everyone you met.

“You were a loving father, stepfather, and partner, the best big brother, and a crazy uncle. Words will not come close to how this emptiness feels.

“You have left many hearts broken and a void that will never be filled.”

As poster boy Armand Duplantis performed the Ultimate Championship’s official song and fireworks lit up the sky above the newly crowned winners, athletics had taken its first strides in a new direction.

Across three fast-paced evenings the inaugural event played out in Budapest, where a record $10m (£7.4m) prize pot was distributed among the sport’s biggest stars.

“It’s so rare that things really live up to the expectation, the hype. I’m so, so glad, having been in this sport for many years now, to actually see us be put on a platform and celebrated in this way.”

Lorries are “thundering” through residential streets to avoid using a busy route, it has been claimed. The comments come after plans to improve the A141 and roads in St Ives were launched over concerns around congestion.

An update on the progress of the outline business case was presented to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority’s transport committee on Wednesday, September 8. It suggested creating a dual-carriageway bypass from Spittalls Interchange to a new roundabout on the B1090.

The B1090 would also be dualled up to the A141 roundabout and an extra lane added to Harrison Way between the A1123 and the busway. Two new “offline routes” for pedestrians and cyclists were also suggested to link Huntingdon and St Ives and four routes to expand the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. It also suggested two new park and ride sites at Huntingdon Racecourse and Wyton Airfield.

Cllr Julie Kerr, of Huntingdonshire District Council, said she was “really pleased” to see the plans were moving forward and said lorries ‘thunder through’ and use the road as a ‘rat run’;/

The independent councillor said: “That makes a massive difference in St Ives – that’s why it’s become a rat run.” She said traffic from the A141 is coming through the town to get to the A14 towards Cambridge as the route around Huntingdon is a “long-way round” – including heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).

She said: “I have followed HGVs from Huntingdon right up to the A14 and they are definitely using it as a rat run. We’ve seen massive numbers of HGVs on Houghton Road, which is a residential road.

“They thunder through and it’s very, very, noisy and it’s lined with homes and that road’s looking to be resurfaced because it’s so bad. Those HGVs should not be on that road and that’s why we’ve asked you to look at the routing of HGVs – that’s one area of it, but it’s really crucial.”

Cllr Kerr suggested that the active travel routes be paired with road routes instead of the chosen paths to the north and south of the A1123 as they are likely to flood. She said: “The routes you’re looking at flood so badly, it will cost a fortune and I don’t understand why you’re considering it.

“I wish you would engage with local knowledge before you come up with ideas like this. I would absolutely encourage you to look at ongoing current road routes to do the active travel on.”

The committee noted the report with the outline business case expected to be completed soon.

A worker’s well-worn pair of boots and a pools coupon are among the forgotten items that have been found under Buckingham Palace‘s floorboards during its restoration. 

The Palace has been undergoing a £370million renovation for the past decade to rewire its electrics, upgrade its plumbing and heating and overhaul its infrastructure to prevent long-term damage. 

The overhaul has resulted in a treasure trove of historic items being collected by renovators – from an empty Silk Cut cigarette packet, the brand once smoked by Queen Camilla, to an almost 140-year-old fragment of the West End theatre listings from The Standard newspaper in 1889. 

A ticket to a ‘whist drive’ run by the Royal Household’s social club nearly 80 years ago was also among the resurfaced goods, alongside blank Littlewoods football pools coupon from 1957 and a pair of battered black hobnail boots. 

Also found was a detailed, typed schedule with all the timings and directions required for Queen Elizabeth II‘s hosting of a diplomatic reception in her Silver Jubilee year of 1977, revealing the monarch would work the room in a ‘clockwise direction’. 

The misplaced belongings, found beneath the floorboards or other areas of the royal residence during the building work, offer a glimpse into the lives of the people who worked and lived behind the scenes at monarchy HQ.

They have remained hidden for decades, preserved within the fabric of the Palace, before being discovered by workers carrying out the refurbishment to the building’s infrastructure. 

Examples of electrical wire covered with Vulcanised Indian Rubber (VIR) cabling, which posed the greatest risk of fire to the building, were also located – with the cabling, which becomes brittle with age, removed as a priority when the project, which is due to be completed next year, began in 2017. 

Some 2km of the rubber cabling has been replaced so far – the equivalent to the length of 40 Olympic sized swimming pools. 

The small once-white Whist Drive ticket, priced at 6d, a sixpence, and dated April 14, 1949, during the reign of the King’s grandfather, George VI, was found embedded in a lump of building rock. 

The pass to the staff social club gathering in the Palace, where people would have played progressive rounds of the classic trick-taking card game, reads ‘Royal Household Social Club – Buckingham Palace: A Whist Drive to be held on’ followed by the faded, stamped date ’14 APR 1949′. 

In April 1949, Queen Elizabeth II was still Princess Elizabeth and had been married to Prince Philip for less than 18 months, and their eldest son, the now-King, then prince Charles, was only five months old.

Also discovered were pages from the Daily Express newspaper in 1966 detailing the ‘maximum security’ prison housing the Great Train Robbers, picturing inside Durham Prison and revealing that ‘the men who were found guilty of stealing a fortune in mailbags spend their week stitching them for nine shillings’. 

The instructions for Royal Household staff for the 1977 Diplomatic Corps reception revealed that the Queen and other members of the royal family would move round the Ball Room in a ‘clockwise direction’.

Aides were also asked to encourage the 350 British guests to mingle with the diplomats at the glittering annual gathering, where the dress code would have been white tie and decorations or national dress, with the royal women wearing tiaras.

‘The British guests will be distributed throughout the State Rooms, except the Music Room and West Gallery, where they should be encouraged to talk to the Diplomats,’ the manually typed sheet read.

It added: ‘In the Ball Room, Her Majesty and other Members of the Royal Family will move round the room in a clockwise direction.’ 

It also warned that smoking was banned in certain state rooms with the reception kept to a strict timetable, saying: ‘Drinks will be served to guests in the Blue Drawing Room, State Dining Room and West Gallery between 9.30 and 10.00pm.

‘Guests allotted to the Ball Room will be served drinks in the Ball Room Annexe from 9.30pm until approximately 10.15pm. Smoking will not be permitted in any of these rooms.’

Other findings included a section of Minton decorative ceramic tiles from a fireplace hearth, with the design dated around the mid-1800s, an aged Pewter tankard, a bottle of Schweppes Still Malvern English Spring Water, a wooden junction box, and a faded box containing six Christmas cards.

Durham County Council is offering a month-long programme of activities to mark National Fitness Day and help residents explore new ways to move.

As part of the campaign, people can claim a free seven-day pass to use the council’s own leisure centres across County Durham, giving access to pools, gyms, and fitness classes.

Residents can also access a free week-long Move Plus Pass, which can be used for gentle exercise classes, pools and walking sports sessions.

It can also be used to access the council’s Move Hubs, which offer power-assisted exercise equipment.

Free taster sessions in yoga, Pilates, and HIITStep will be available at selected locations, and a fresh round of the Couch to 5k running programme is already underway.

Cllr Karen Allison, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for leisure, tourism, regeneration and high street, said: “Exercise in any form, whether that’s a gentle walk or intense cardio, is beneficial to health and wellbeing.

“We want to encourage residents to explore ways to incorporate movement into their daily life, no matter their fitness level.

“As part of this ambition, we are committed to driving positive lifestyle change and increasing opportunities for residents to access physical activity across the county.”

On National Fitness Day, which falls on Wednesday, September 16, leisure centre members can spin the wheel at their local site for the chance to win memberships, guest passes for friends and family, and entries into a grand prize draw.

Two fitness challenges will run throughout September, giving residents the opportunity to win a range of membership prizes by earning MOVE points through the Technogym app.

As part of the campaign, members who achieve 2,000 MOVE points on National Fitness Day will be entered into a prize draw to win a free 12-month membership.

In addition, participants who accumulate 15,000, 30,000 or 50,000 MOVE points during September will be entered into separate prize draws, providing even more opportunities to be rewarded for staying active.

Councillor Allison said the council is “As part of this ambition, we are committed to driving positive lifestyle change and increasing opportunities for residents to access physical activity across the county.”

CCTV captured a smiling killer buying a knife – before he stabbed a 26-year-old man to death.

Sulaiman Tajzai, 18, pleaded guilty to the murder of Farmanullah Sherzad and possession of a bladed article at the Old Bailey on Friday.

CCTV showed Tajzai purchasing a knife from a corner shop in Leeds at 12:17pm before catching the train down to London to wait outside Farmanullah’s Westminster address.

Tajzai had travelled to London in the weeks before the attack to scope out Mr Sherzad’s home address and where he worked.

When Mr Sherzad arrived home from work at approximately 10:15pm, Tajzai chased him onto Abbey Orchard Street, where he fatally stabbed him on March 27, 2026.

A member of the public found Mr Sherzad unconscious and called the police, but despite the medical staff’s best efforts, the 26-year-old died 20 minutes later.

Tajzai ran away from the scene and tried to catch a train back to Leeds from King’s Cross station; however, he missed it and got onto another one just after 6am the following day.

He was arrested at his cousin’s house in Leeds on March 29 and police officers searched the address, seizing multiple items belonging to him including a pair of blood-stained trainers.

The alleged animosity against Mr Sherzad was said to have dated back to the autumn of 2025.

The prosecutor in the case cited a ‘pre-existing condition’ between the defendant’s cousin’s wife and Mr Sherzad, which had turned ‘sour’.

On October 3, police attended the couple’s home where they found Sherzad tied up on the floor and arrested him on suspicion of stalking and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, the court heard.

However, he went on to claim to be in a relationship with the wife, saying he had come to Leeds to visit after she had invited him on social media platform Snapchat.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who led the investigation, said: ‘Our thoughts remain firmly with Farmanullah’s family and loved ones as they continue to come to terms with his tragic loss. This is a devastating case in which a young man lost his life after being subjected to a brutal and senseless act of violence.

‘I would like to commend the dedication and professionalism of the investigative team, who worked meticulously to piece together crucial CCTV, and forensic evidence to build a compelling case.’

He will be sentenced later this week.
