It has seen shoppers find everything from high-end tech to designer brands for as low as £2.50.
A viral ‘unboxing’ parcel event is coming to a busy Scottish shopping centre, marking its first time in the country. There is a catch, as shoppers won’t know what they get until they buy a package.
King Colis is bringing its hugely popular ‘lost parcels’ pop-up to Scotland this month. The French firm’s event has become something of a social media sensation, with some shoppers finding everything from collectibles to designer items.
Now it’s set to arrive in Glasgow for a special one week long event. From June 15-21, the pop-up will be arriving in the St Enoch Centre, with visitors able to find it located in the main square just across from Boots.
Entry is free, although anyone under the age of 16 will need to be supervised by an adult. Eager punters who might want to skip the queue can purchase a fast pass on the King Colis website, although they will be charged £150.
The upcoming Glasgow event will see shoppers given 10 minutes to pick the parcel that they want before paying by weight, with prices starting at £2.50 for 100g. Offering a ‘treasure hunt’ style experience, the parcels cannot be opened before purchase.
More than 10 tonnes of undelivered parcels are set to be on offer during the event. The upcoming Glasgow launch will be the second UK stop for the popular pop-up that is currently in the Bradford Shopping Centre until June 7.
TikTok is awash with ‘unboxing’ videos that have racked up millions of views, with some managing to find everything from high-end tech to household gadgets hidden inside their parcel.
King Colis was first launched in 2023, specialising in the purchase of unclaimed parcels that it buys in bulk. These parcels come from online orders that were lost or never delivered due to issues such as incorrect address information.
Usually, these parcels are destroyed after they are refunds are issued to the original consumer, but the French company buys them in bulk. Since the ‘mystery’ shopping events inception, the brand has claimed that it has managed to save more than 2,000 tonnes of undelivered parcels.
Speaking ahead of the Glasgow launch, King Colis CEO and co-founder Killian Denis said: “People are tired of shopping always feeling the same, and I think that’s why the mystery element has connected with so many people online.
“You can spend ten minutes digging through parcels with your friends or family and genuinely have no clue what you’re about to walk away with. That surprise is what makes it fun.
“We’ve seen people uncover everything from valuable collectibles to designer items, but even when the contents aren’t life-changing, people still love the experience of the hunt itself.
“The response to our pop-ups and TikTok videos has been incredible, and we’ve wanted to bring the experience to Scotland for a long time. Glasgow felt like the obvious place to do it first.”
