Bayern fall to Barcelona in semis
Midfielder Alexia Putellas scored a brace to lead Barcelona to a 4-2 win over Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Women’s Champions League semifinal tie on Sunday. It completed a 5-3 aggregate victory to set up a final against OL Lyonnes. The French side had finished off holders Arsenal in the other semifinal on Saturday.
“I’m really happy for the team, they’ve had a great season and now we just need to put the cherry on top,” three-time Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati told streaming service Disney+.
“(Lyon) are a historic club in the Champions League, they’ve got an amazing team, for me they’ve always been the side to beat, added the playmaker, who got one of the biggest cheers of the match when she was substituted on in the 68th minute — marking her return to action after having broken her leg in December.
Sunday’s defeat in front of more than 60,000 spectators at the Camp Nou came after Bayern had held Barca to a 1-1 draw at home a week ago and with the visitors looking to pack their defense and hit the hosts on the break. However, the Catalans needed only 13 minutes to open the scoring, with Salma Paralluelo finishing off a Caroline Graham Hansen cross.
Bayern leveled the score just four minutes later when Pernille Harder seized the ball at the halfway line before delivering a pass to an on-running Linda Dallmann at the top of the box, who left the Barca keeper without a chance on her well-placed finish.
However, the home side appeared unimpressed as Putellas put Barca back in front with a deflected effort in the 22nd minute. Poland striker Ewa Pajor struck in the 54th minute, and Putellas hooked home her second of the match four minutes later to seemingly kill the game off.
Late Bayern push unrewarded
Harder, though, had other ideas, drilling the ball into the far corner to reduce the deficit to two in the 71st minute as Bayern pushed hard for a comeback. The visitors twice hit the woodwork in the dying minutes before Harder again found the back of the net in the 90th, only to have it called back by the video assistant referee (VAR).
“Right now it’s too painful,” Bayern defender and Germany captain Giulia Gwinn told German public TV broadcaster ZDF.
“There’s plenty of frustration as we had the feeling we were still in it,” she stressed.
“I know we can be proud, but that feeling will come a bit further down the line. We had chances, hit the woodwork twice. I’m not able to explain why the goal was chalked off.
Barcelona move on to face OL Lyonnes in the final in Oslo, Norway, on May 23. This will be the sixth final in a row for the Spanish giants, who won the Champions League in 2021, 2023 and 2024.
Bayern, having failed to make a first Champions League final, are still on course for the double. Having clinched their fourth consecutive Bundesliga title last month, they face Wolfsburg in the German Cup final in Cologne on May 14.

Celtics’ Jaylen Brown critical of refs for ‘agenda,’ calls out 76ers’ Joel Embiid
Apr 30, 2026; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown (7) dribbles the ball against the Philadelphia 76ers during the first quarter at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-Imagn Images Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown on Sunday criticized officiating in the team’s first-round loss to Philadelphia and also pointed at 76ers center Joel Embiid for flopping.
Brown spoke on the streaming platform Twitch on Sunday, a day after the second-seeded Celtics lost Game 7 at home to the seventh-seeded 76ers in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Boston played without injured star forward Jayson Tatum, but Brown found other reasons for the Celtics’ downfall as Philadelphia won the last three games in the best-of-seven series.
Embiid collected 34 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the 76ers’ 109-100 victory on Saturday. The 7-foot, 270-pounder was 9 of 11 at the free-throw line. He used his big body to draw fouls and used some physical acting to get extra calls, Brown contended.
“I mean, this is my personal opinion on basketball,” Brown said. “Some of y’all might disagree, you know what I mean? But argue with your grandma. Flopping has ruined our game.
“Embiid is a great player, one of the best bigs in … basketball history, flops,” Brown continued. “He knows it. This ain’t breaking news.”
Brown acknowledged that he has been critical of officiating in the regular season, and he believes that carried over in how referees called the series, particularly in calling offensive fouls on him.
“Why are you targeting me? They clearly had an agenda,” he said. “Maybe because I spoke, I was critical of the refs in the regular season. So you know how they responded? ‘We’re gonna call every — you’re gonna lead the playoffs in offensive fouls.’ That was the response from the officiating crew.
“You could clearly tell,” he continued. “I’ve actually spoken to some refs and they said it was an agenda going into each game. ‘Any time Jaylen brings his arm up, just from reputation, just call it.’ “ Brown said that Paul George of the 76ers and Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks, for example, make push-off moves with their off arm when driving with the ball to create space, but they don’t get called like he does for offensive fouls.
“It’s a basketball play, whether y’all believe it or not,” Brown said. “Everybody does that when you drive, especially if you’ve got bodies on you. But Philly took advantage of it, and they took advantage of the officiating. It cost us to some degree. I’ve been doing it all regular season, not a problem. Now, all of a sudden, it’s an offensive foul every time. Keep that same energy with everybody else. That’s all I’ve gotta say.”
Brown was whistled for 10 offensive fouls in the first round, more than twice as many as the next-highest player, according to reports. In the regular season, the Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns was called for 65 offensive fouls, with Brown second in the league at 40.
Brown, 29, is a five-time All-Star who won the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award when the Celtics captured the league championship in 2024. He averaged career highs with 28.7 points and 5.1 assists and matched the mark with 6.9 rebounds per game in 71 regular-season games this season. Brown averaged 25.7 points, 3.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds in seven playoff games.

4 Vikings Players on Thin Ice after the Draft
The 2026 NFL Draft revealed nine new players, while undrafted free agency brought about 20 more. Accordingly, as with every cycle, a few Minnesota Vikings players were quietly and indirectly put “on notice” by Minnesota’s roster decisions.
The draft did more than add rookies. It squeezed several veterans and young depth pieces.
These are those players in 2026, listed alphabetically.
Minnesota’s Post-Draft Roster Bubble Is Clearer
Which player is on the hot seat in your estimation?
1. Levi Drake Rodriguez (NT)
Drake Rodriguez’s long-term outlook shifted the moment Minnesota doubled up at defensive tackle. Nobody among Vikings fans or analysts expected the team to draft two defensive tackles before the end of Round 3. Then, when Orange was selected Friday night, the depth chart suddenly looked different.
Before that pick, Drake Rodriguez still had a believable path to becoming Minnesota’s long-term nose tackle. After the pick, though, that theory vanished quickly. If Orange develops as his scouting report suggests, Drake Rodriguez will likely be NT2 for the remainder of his rookie contract. While still useful, it no longer offers the same long-term potential.
Our Janik Eckardt on Rodriguez’s post-draft fate: “Defensive tackle Levi Drake Rodriguez was the team’s starting nose tackle just a week ago following Javon Hargrave’s exit, but his role might have changed within the team’s first three selections. At first, the club added Caleb Banks in the first round, who’s expected to be a defensive end and join the rotation next to Jalen Redmond.”
“In a base defense, there’s still room for Rodriguez sandwiched by the two. On Day 2, however, the Vikings acquired Domonique Orange, who is expected to slide into the nose tackle role. Rodriguez might still have a chance, as defensive line rotation is important, but the clear path to a starting job is gone.”
2. Johnny Hekker (P)
Hekker likely believed the 2026 punting job was his to lose in Minneapolis. Minnesota signed him last month after Ryan Wright departed for the New Orleans Saints, providing the Vikings with a clear veteran solution at punter. For a few weeks, Hekker’s situation looked straightforward.
That changed last Saturday.
After the draft, the Vikings signed Georgia punter Brett Thorson, immediately changing the dynamic in the punter room. Thorson was one of the best punters in college football, with pre-draft chatter even pushing him into the Round 3 range.
He didn’t get drafted, but he still landed in Minnesota. Now, Hekker faces a genuine training camp battle. The veteran may still be the favorite, but Thorson is talented enough to make August suspenseful.
3. Theo Jackson (S)
Harrison Smith may not be back in 2026, which should be “good” news for Jackson’s playing-time outlook. But then Minnesota picked Jakobe Thomas in Round 3. He plays the same position as Jackson, and Jackson was already demoted in December of 2025 in favor of Jay Ward.
There’s a world where Smith returns for Year No. 15, and Jackson hardly plays in the regular season or even straddles the roster bubble beforehand.
Yahoo Sports‘ Austen Bundy assumed the Vikings would draft a Round 1 safety a few weeks ago and noted on Jackson, “Theo Jackson occupies that spot and could probably feel secure there for at least this season. But he’s going to have to come close to a career year to prove he deserves to stick around after that.”
“Thieneman recorded two interceptions last year but his draft profile notes his versatility and speed are his greatest assets. That’s what Jackson needs to bring to the table or risk falling behind Thieneman in the depth chart.”
4. Zavier Scott (RB)
The roster numbers are now working against Scott. Minnesota’s addition of Demond Claiborne from Wake Forest last weekend isn’t just for depth; he will be on the Week 1 roster.
The Viking Age‘s Brad Berreman on Claiborne: “He has ability as a pass catcher that can be further developed in the NFL, with prowess as a kickoff returner and a nose for the end zone (21 rushing touchdowns over his last two seasons at Wake Forest). With Jones being over 30 years old and Mason being an active detriment to the situation on passing downs due to his struggles as a pass blocker, it might not be as tough for Claiborne to notably contribute right away as it seems.”
“Of course, due to his size, Claiborne’s ability to pass protect at the next level is easy to question. While Pro Football Focus was generally not high on his work there over his four years at Wake Forest, he did earn a 66.2 pass blocking grade as a junior in 2024 on 159 pass blocking snaps.”
The Vikings typically keep three or four running backs in September, and that trio is already easy to envision: Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, and Claiborne — possibly Scott.
This leaves Scott in a tough spot. He’ll need a monster camp, significant special teams value, or an injury elsewhere to change his destiny.

Manchester United vs Liverpool live streaming: Where to watch PL match? | Football News
The standout fixture in Sunday’s Premier League schedule sees Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford in a high-stakes clash.
United enter the contest sitting third in the table and are within touching distance of securing a UEFA Champions League spot. A win against their historic rivals would confirm their place in next season’s elite competition.
For Liverpool, the situation is more delicate. While they remain in the hunt for a top-five finish, their qualification hopes depend partly on results elsewhere. A victory would significantly strengthen their chances, but with challenging matches ahead, a loss could increase the pressure in the final stretch of the season.
Man Utd team news
Manchester United supporters will be hoping for a quick comeback from Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha, with Carrick having suggested his hip issue is “not too serious” ahead of the fixture.
Defender Lisandro Martínez remains unavailable as he serves the final match of his suspension, while Matthijs de Ligt is also expected to miss out due to a lingering back injury that could potentially rule him out for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is a doubt after sustaining an injury in the previous game, which may keep him sidelined for this encounter.
Liverpool team news:
Although Mohamed Salah is now anticipated to return before the season concludes, this fixture arrives too early for the injured winger to be involved.
Liverpool’s main concern lies in the goalkeeping department, with both Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili dealing with fitness problems. This situation could once again leave Arne Slot relying on third-choice option Freddie Woodman.

‘An evening with the God of cricket’: Sachin Tendulkar meets LSG players, Mohsin Khan thanks Arjun | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: It turned into a memorable evening for several Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) players before their IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) as cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar hosted the team for dinner. Since Sachin’s son, Arjun Tendulkar, is part of the LSG squad, a number of players attended the gathering, including captain Rishabh Pant, pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan. Photos from the dinner quickly went viral on social media.
Mohsin Khan later shared pictures from the evening on Instagram and called Sachin the “God of cricket”. He wrote, “An evening with the God of cricket. Blessed!” while also thanking Arjun for arranging the dinner. Both Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have struggled badly this IPL season and are fighting to stay alive in the playoff race. Mumbai, led by Hardik Pandya, have managed just two wins in nine matches and are near the bottom of the table. Their campaign has also suffered because of inconsistent performances from key players like Suryakumar Yadav and the absence of Rohit Sharma due to injury.LSG’s story has been quite similar. After a decent start, they lost momentum and slipped to the bottom after five straight defeats. Captain Rishabh Pant has also faced criticism over his form and leadership. In the previous game, Mohsin Khan’s brilliant 5/23 went in vain as LSG failed to finish the job. With the season entering a crucial phase, both teams need their senior Indian stars to deliver. Hardik Pandya’s captaincy and all-round form have come under scrutiny, while Suryakumar Yadav has struggled to convert starts into big scores. On the other side, Pant will be hoping to guide LSG back to winning ways during a packed schedule of important matches.

“We Want To Win Two”: Jemimah Rodrigues Eyes T20 World Cup Glory
Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues spoke about the motivation driving the team as they gear up for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, following their historic triumph in the 50-over tournament at home last year. Speaking at the IISM Degree Distribution Ceremony 2026, Jemimah, alongside head coach Amol Muzumdar, expressed the team’s desire to build on their recent success. “I think it’s a bit of motivation now. Since we’ve won one, we want to win two,” Jemimah said as quoted by ICC.
The team’s preparation for the next World Cup, according to Jemimah, has been long and steady.
“Our preparation has been strong. It didn’t just begin after the squad announcement. Right after the 2025 World Cup, during our first series against Sri Lanka, coach Amol Muzumdar told us, ‘This is where we start for the next World Cup.’ So we’ve been preparing from day one,” Jemimah shared, highlighting the importance of early and consistent training.
Jemimah also lauded Nandani, a player who has emerged as a key figure for the team. “Nandani has been fantastic for us,” Jemimah remarked. “She proved herself not just in one game, but consistently across matches. With the experience in this squad, we’re confident she’ll flourish on the big stage.”
As the Indian team continues their preparations, the confidence in their squad’s ability, leadership under Muzumdar, and the presence of rising stars like Nandani suggest they are more focused than ever on achieving even greater success at the global level.
Amanjot has been a key figure in India’s white-ball setup and played a crucial role in their 2025 triumph, making her absence in the UK a big blow, particularly given her value as a seam-bowling all-rounder.
“She is injured, and it is very difficult to replace somebody like Amanjot. She has been doing consistently well for India,” Muzumdar said, a sentiment that was also echoed by India captain Harmanpreet Kaur in the press conference after the squad announcement.
“We will miss her for sure, but injuries are part of the game, and she has had a bad one, and she will be out of cricket for at least 4-5 months. I hope she recovers well and comes back stronger. She is difficult to replace, but that is the way it goes,” he added.
Placed in Group A alongside Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on 14 June.
India squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026:
Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Shree Charani, Yastika Bhatia, Nandani Sharma, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh, Kranti Gaud, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav.

‘I’ll send a private plane!’: Mark Wood amused by bizarre IPL offer during illness | Cricket News
England fast bowler Mark Wood has shared a remarkable and humorous story from his time in the Indian Premier League, revealing how a franchise owner once offered to fly him on a private jet just to ensure he played a match — despite being seriously unwell.Speaking on BBC’s Strategic Timeout podcast, Wood recalled falling ill midway through a season after featuring in a handful of matches. What followed, he said, was an extraordinary level of attention from the franchise, including constant medical monitoring.“I wasn’t very well after about five games, and the (next) game was in about three days’ time. Every half an hour, the doctor would stay back, come to my room, check on my vitals,” Wood said. The situation soon took an unusual turn when the team owner personally reached out to check on his availability.“I remember one day the owner ringing me, ‘How’re you feeling? Ready to go?’ and I said, ‘Honestly, I’ve eaten and drunk nothing, I still can’t get out of bed’. He went, ‘We’ll get you another doctor, we’ll do this and that’,” he revealed.‘I’ll send a private plane’Despite Wood’s condition, the owner remained determined to have him feature in the game — so much so that he offered an eye-popping solution.“Next day, it’s the owner again, ‘How are you feeling?’ and I said, ‘Honestly, I’m still not good’. He then said, ‘I’ll send a private plane, you get in the plane, play the game. Then I’ll get the plane straight back out and get you back to your bedside’,” Wood said, laughing at the memory. The England pacer admitted he was briefly tempted by the surreal offer and even sought advice from his father.“So I rang my dad and I was like, ‘Dad, they’re going to send a private plane.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, but how do you feel?’ I said, ‘Honestly, if I stand up, I feel not well… I could faint’. He said, ‘You’re not right’. But I was like, ‘Dad, it’s a private plane’ (laughs),” Wood added.Ultimately, he decided against playing, but not before appreciating the sheer novelty of the situation.“For that split second, I was like, ‘This is the coolest thing that’s probably ever happened to me in my life. This is unbelievable’,” he said.Wood has had a brief IPL career, featuring for Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, taking 11 wickets in five games.

Teenage prodigy Paul Seixas to make Tour de France debut this July
Teenage super-talent Paul Seixas will make his Tour de France debut this July, his team confirmed on Monday.
Speculation has swirled for months over whether the 19-year-old Frenchman would line up in Barcelona this summer after a series of hugely impressive results, or whether his Decathlon CMA CGM squad would protect him from the weight of expectation – particularly from the French press as the home favourite – and the gruelling physical challenge of riding the Tour, the most demanding of the three Grand Tours, at such a young age.
Seixas is only in his first full season as a professional rider and has never ridden a Grand Tour. But he has made waves with some remarkable performances, winning the Itzulia Basque Country stage race in April and La Fleche Wallonne, as well as finishing second – only behind Tadej Pogacar – at Strade Bianche and Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
His Basque Country triumph, when he claimed all four jerseys and won three stages, made him the first Frenchman to win a WorldTour-level stage race since Christophe Moreau won the 2007 Criterium du Dauphine.
Those results, coupled with the maturity of his performances – particularly his ability and willingness to compete with Pogacar – mean he is already being hyped as the successor to Bernard Hinault, the last Frenchman to win the Tour de France, in 1985.
Decathlon had previously indicated his summer programme would be re-assessed after the Ardennes Classics, with his excellent run of results there making a Tour start all the more likely.
The team released a video of Seixas sharing the news of his plan to ride the Tour with his grandparents, with the caption, “J’ai quelque chose à vous annoncer… I have something to tell you.”
The teenager from Lyon has previously said his biggest dream is to win the Tour de France. The race starts in Barcelona on 4 July and finishes in Paris on 26 July this year.
Defending champion Pogacar lines up as the undisputed favourite after another stellar spring campaign, with his main rival Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel expected to challenge.
After Seixas’ fine start to the season Decathlon will have reason to hope for a podium finish and stage wins for the teenager, while from a more commercial perspective his participation will drive publicity for the French-based team.
