New Mexico vs. Tulsa odds, picks, expert best bet in NIT
The NIT’s semifinals tip off tonight at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, and I want to look at the first game of No. 1 seed New Mexico vs. No. 1 Tulsa at 7 ET on ESPN because that should be more competitive than the nightcap featuring No. 4 Illinois State against No. 1 Auburn. The winners face off in Sunday’s championship game, which moves to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indy, and I expect that to be the Lobos and Tigers.
Fans who want to wager on college basketball can check out the latest BetMGM promo code for the best offer.
New Mexico (26-10, 21-14 ATS) of the Mountain West, which had a case for an NCAA Tournament spot before a late-season fade, was the winner of the Albuquerque Region of the NIT, and is clearly the best team in it. The Lobos beat Sam Houston, George Washington and Saint Joseph’s, all by at least 15 points at the Pit. I previewed that Hawks game last Tuesday here at CBS Sports and recommended SJU alt +16.5 and alt Under 161.5 at a parlay price of -125. We sweated a tad, but it cashed with UNM prevailing 84-69. Didn’t seem to be an ATS worry at the half with Saint Joseph’s up 39-37.
Tomislav Buljan led New Mexico in that one with a career-high 27 points to go with 11 rebounds, his 17th double-double of the season. Star freshman Jake Hall added 24 points. Those two freshmen carry coach Eric Olen’s club … and will be very expensive to keep in the offseason. Frankly, I doubt either will still be with the program.
Hall had his 11th 20-point game and became the all-time leading freshman scorer in Mountain West history with 585 points, breaking the previous record of 564 by UNLV‘s Anthony Bennett in 2012-13. Bennett of course was then the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft by Cleveland. Hall, the Mountain West Freshman of the Year, has made a school-record 116 3-pointers, fourth-most by a freshman in Division I history.
Buljan had his third 25/10 game of the season, trailing only Duke superstar Cameron Boozer (six) for the most by a freshman nationally. Among players who played three games in this year’s NIT, Buljan (21.0 ppg) and Hall (19.0 ppg) are the tournament’s top two scorers. Another freshman in Uriah Tenette is leading the NIT in assist/turnover ratio at 13.0.
The Lobos have trailed for just 6:29 of 120:00. Their +21.33 average scoring margin over the first three rounds is the largest in the event since 2008. UNM is the first team since San Diego State in 2016 to advance to the NIT semifinals with three wins by at least 15 points and has reached this round for the third time overall and first since 1990.
I generally prefer to lean Under an alternate total but chose to go Over an alt here because the Lobos are averaging a whopping 92.3 points in this tournament, most over the event’s first three rounds since Oklahoma (94.3 PPG) in 1991. That team lost in the final. Tonight will be New Mexico’s first-ever game in April.

Tulsa (27-9, 17-17 ATS) of the American Athletic Conference is having its first winning season since 2019-20 and hosted the Tulsa Region in the first three rounds. The Golden Hurricane haven’t had it nearly as easy as New Mexico did, with two of their three wins in the NIT by five points or fewer (one in OT). They knocked off conference rival Wichita State last Tuesday to get here.
The primary starting five of David Green, Tylen Riley, Miles Barnstable, Ade Popoola and Tyler Behrend leads the American Conference with a rating of plus-172. That ranks them third in the country as a group. Tulsa’s 381 made 3-pointers have not just shattered the school record but broke the 2018-19 Houston squad’s AAC record of 337.
The Golden Hurricane are one of 10 schools nationally to have at least 25 games this season scoring 80-plus points and are 24-1 in those games. Only NCAA Tournament Final Four foes Arizona (26-0) and Michigan (25-1) have a better record in such games.
The program is in the semifinals of the NIT for the third time in history and won it the previous two times (1981 and 2001). Head coach Eric Konkol was a student assistant at Tulsa on that 2001 team that beat Alabama, 79-60, in the NIT title game.
New Mexico leads the all-time series 2-1, but they haven’t played since 1998. The Lobos are +210 second favorites to win the NIT behind Auburn (+110) – they were the two favorites when the event tipped off. Tulsa is +380, a nice jump from an open of +1000. As of this writing, Auburn is taking the most Yes shares to win it at Kalshi with 44%.
DraftKings single-game parlay (-115)
- New Mexico ML
- Alt Over 149.5
The SportsLine Projection model has UNM 81-77, Torvik has it 84-82 and Haslem 81-76. KenPom ranks the Lobos at No. 44 nationally and the Golden Hurricane 58th. Tulsa is 1-5 ATS in its past six games, while New Mexico is 5-0-1 ATS in its past six. Check out NIT and other expert picks in the daily newsletter.

Pat Cummins: ‘Abhishek, Klaasen, Trav, Ishan shouldn’t be told that they can only bat a certain way. You want to see them at their full flight’ | Cricket News
New Delhi: Every now and then, the cricketing world needs a reminder that Pat Cummins remains exceptional at his primary craft: fast bowling. Yet, in the process, Cummins the captain has been somewhat overshadowed. Amid the celebration of his extraordinary skills with the ball, his tactical brilliance as a captain has been flagrantly overlooked. But one cannot deny that Cummins the captain and Cummins the bowler are inseparably intertwined.Nowadays in the IPL, even a score of 264 is not safe, and it is Cummins’ ultra-aggressive captaincy that has shifted the paradigm of this tournament. In his first season as captain in IPL 2024, he set the tone. And who can forget his dressing room talk to his teammates, where he famously said: “Everyone’s terrified when they come up against us and we’ve got to blow some teams out of the water before they’ve even walked out onto the field.“SRH had a difficult 2025 campaign. This season, things have looked different, and they are once again in the playoffs. Although Cummins joined the campaign midway after recovering from a stress injury, SRH continued to play a “take-no-prisoners” style of cricket under stand-in skipper Ishan Kishan, a brand that had been instilled into their DNA by Cummins. In an exclusive interaction with TimesofIndia.com on the sidelines of the New Balance Grey Days 2026 celebration and the launch of The New Retail Concept store in Noida, Pat Cummins opens up about his captaincy style, SRH, the six-hitting madness in T20 cricket, workload management, being an all-format cricketer, and why he went “wow” after watching Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bat. Edited Excerpts: It’s turning out to be another strong season for you at the SRH. How has the ride been so far? It’s been great. It’s a bit of a different season for me, joining halfway, but I felt really high energy and really excited to be part of it. The team has been playing fantastically well, strong contributions across the whole squad, which has been really pleasing.

Joining the team midway and then sustaining the momentum, it seemed like a seamless takeover from Ishan Kishan. Tell us a little about thatIshan is a fantastic captain, fantastic around the boys, so I kind of stayed out of the way for the first seven games. Obviously, Daniel Vettori, the head coach and the whole coaching staff, they’re great as well, so it’s all very seamless, whether it’s Ishan or myself captaining, not much changes about how we go about it.The last few seasons you and SRH in particular have been the pioneers in changing the way T20 cricket has been played. How difficult was it to imbibe that mindset in the group?I think it’s a natural fit for T20 cricket. There’s 10 teams in this competition, if you just want to be average, you’re not going to make it, so you’ve got to do something that stands you out, makes you stand out from the pack. Look around at some of the talent, Abhishek (Sharma), Klaassen( Heinrich), Trav (Travis Head), Ishan (Kishan), these guys shouldn’t be told that they can only bat a certain way. You want to see them at their full flight.A lot of my style is getting out of the way and let those guys go and play their natural game.
I think it is the new reality. You do not have that many tools at your disposal. Cutters do not normally grip, there is not much swing, there is not much bounce.
Pat Cummins on bowlers plight in T20s
We see the kind of pitches, the runs that have been scored, every time it has been told that bowlers need to be upskilled. Do you really see how much a bowler can do, because balance has tilted one way?I think that’s the new reality. You don’t have that many tools at your disposal. Cutters don’t normally grip, there’s not much swing, there’s not much bounce.I don’t think it’s anything different to what it was a few years back. Batters have been a bit more aggressive and maybe starting to realise that they can score a bit quicker than what they previously thought. I think that’s been the biggest challenge. As a bowler, you’ve just got to adapt to the new normal, find ways to defend yourself. Even if it’s the second over in a game, that might be a super important over you’ve got to try and defend.
SunriserscCaptain Pat Cummins
How does Pat Cummins prepare when he knows he will be bowling to a 15-year-old teenager like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who takes on the bowlers from the word go?I think he keeps everyone on their toes. You think the batter’s going to play a certain way and you see someone like him come out and try and hit every ball for six. You’re like, okay, this is fun. How am I going to counter this challenge? It’s mostly the way I look at it. If something gets thrown at me, I’m like, okay, this is interesting. How do I try and solve this problem.
I think the trend is you see players being rested from a few more games than previous generations because you are trying to avoid the big 12-month injuries.
Pat Cummins on challneges of bring ann all-format bowler
It’s been a growing trend now that very few would end up playing/mastering every format. Not just batters but even bowlers. Very few are left – yourself, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc and Kagiso Rabada. You reckon every team/country will now look at formats in isolation and not maybe have repetition of players across formats?I’d say not necessarily. I think the trend is you see players being rested from a few more games than previous generations because you’re trying to avoid the big 12-month injuries. Before this injury, I played a lot of cricket over the last five years, bowled a lot of balls, but I was also rested from a few games here and there. There’s just so much cricket. For example, next year, it’s an ODI World Cup year.I’m sure I’ll probably play more ODIs that year than I have in the previous few years. Just like a T20 year, I’ll probably play more T20s.

How challenging is it to transition between formats, especially going from something as physically demanding as a five-Test series straight into the intensity of the IPL?Particularly in Test cricket, we try and carve out a little bit of time before or post to make sure that you are ready for the Test matches but also get a little bit of recovery after them. They’re the ones that I find probably the easiest to adapt to. And then T20s, I feel like I’ve played enough over the last couple of years, so you’ve just got to mentally switch on and know what your style is.How do you manage the toll it can take on the body and mind over such long stretches of cricket?I’m a little bit used to it, but when we do have a little bit of a break, we’re not on holidays. We’re at home, going to the gym every couple of days, trying to get strength in so that when we do play a Test match, our body’s ready for the rigours of it.
I was like wow after seeing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi going nuts against me.
Pat Cummins
When was the last time Pat Cummins went wow while watching a cricket or IPL match. Like taken aback by what you witnessed in a fixture.Went wow? Probably seeing Sooryavanshi (Vaibhav) going nuts against me.You are one of the most successful leaders for Australia. Bowlers do make great captains right? Would you want to see more of that? The fast bowler’s always the smart ones, so it makes sense. I just think whether you’re a bowler, a keeper, whoever you are, I think your role on the team shouldn’t really matter whether you can be a captain or not.For example, when I’m talking about my own bowling and my own plans, a lot of times I gravitate to the other bowlers because they’ve got really good insight on how they’re seeing the game, so I think it’s a pretty natural fit for bowlers to be captains.
What aspect of Pat Cummins’ game do you find most impressive?
You have got a young family as someone constantly travelling and performing under pressure, how important is routine and balance in your everyday life? That’s the hardest thing about this lifestyle. I’ve spent a fair bit of time at home the last 12 months with my injuries, but they’ve come over to India, so our little four-year-old’s been to about 20 countries. You get very good at packing different bags and packing toys, but it’s fun. It’s hard work at times, but you always get home and you create some great memories.

White Sox ace Davis Martin gets to face struggling Giants
Apr 28, 2026; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago White Sox pitcher Davis Martin (65) throws against the Los Angeles Angels during the first inning at Rate Field. Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images Two teams headed in opposite directions go head-to-head when the Chicago White Sox visit the San Francisco Giants for a three-game interleague series that opens Friday night.
The pairing is a rematch of the 1917 World Series, won 4-2 by the White Sox over the New York Giants.
The teams have squared off just 25 times in the 108 years since, including three times in Chicago last June when the White Sox also took that series 2-1.
Actually, the White Sox have had even greater success in San Francisco, going 8-3 in interleague play since 2008.
White Sox ace Davis Martin (6-1, 1.61), Friday’s scheduled starter, suffered a 4-1 loss in his only previous outing in San Francisco in 2024. He was pulled in the fifth inning, having allowed two earned runs.
He also lost to the New York Mets in 2024, but has since dominated interleague competition. He went 3-0 in starts last season against the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, and this year has run that winning streak to five with wins over the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins.
Overall this season, Martin has gone unbeaten in his last six starts while allowing no more than one run in any of them. He’s 4-0 with a 1.18 ERA over that stretch, with 44 strikeouts versus six walks in 38 innings.
Led by Martin and 17 home runs from first baseman Munetaka Murakami, the White Sox have been one of the early surprises in baseball this season. Eight wins in their last 11 games will send them onto the field in San Francisco with a winning record (25-24). The 29-year-old Martin, who just two years ago was a winless pitcher (0-5) on a 121-loss team, insists both his and his team’s success is a group effort.
“From a pitching standpoint, you’re just like, ‘Pass the baton.’ Someone struggles, the next guys pick them up,” Martin said to the media recently. “It’s one of those things where it’s almost being expected that the next guy is going to do what needs to be done. If everything is going well, that guy just comes in and follows suit. It’s a constant challenge, a constant competition between each other in a healthy way.”
San Francisco starter Trevor McDonald (2-0, 2.37) has never seen the White Sox in his three-year career. His lone interleague appearance was a success as he beat the Athletics 6-4 on Saturday in West Sacramento, allowing just one run in 6 2/3 innings.
The Giants have won just once since. Their three-game sweep at Arizona dropped them a season-worst 10 games under .500. Veteran shortstop Willy Adames took time after Wednesday’s 6-3 loss in Phoenix to put a positive spin on a comparison to 2025, when the Giants went 41-29 to open the season, only to need a four-game, season-ending winning streak just to reach .500.
“Last year (as late as June 13), we were in first place. We didn’t make it to the postseason,” Adames cautioned conclusion-drawing reporters and fans. “I don’t think the record at this time dictates what’s going to happen the whole year. We just have to pick it up the next series and continue to play the baseball that we’ve been playing.”
Before reaching Phoenix, the Giants had won five of eight. That included the first two of a four-game road set against the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

IPL 2026: CSK Coach Ends Debate On MS Dhoni’s Future After Dismal Season
For the first time in the history of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), an IPL season has concluded without MS Dhoni playing a single delivery. This development emerged despite Dhoni being part of the squad for the 2026 Indian Premier League campaign, as persistent injury issues kept him sidelined for the entirety of the 14 league matches. Speaking at the press conference following Thursday’s defeat against the Gujarat Titans, CSK bowling coach Eric Simons was asked whether the franchise remains hopeful of Dhoni playing next season, amid growing speculation that the former skipper might call it quits to transition fully into a support staff role. Simons put an end to the debate, offering a clear response regarding the India icon’s future.
In Dhoni’s absence, CSK handed opportunities to a number of youngsters throughout the tournament, with the likes of Urvil Patel, Kartik Sharma, and Ayush Mhatre regularly given chances to test their mettle. While Kartik emerged as a strong contender for a permanent middle-order role, others like Urvil and Dewald Brevis only looked competent in brief phases.
This transitional phase has triggered an intense debate over whether Dhoni’s return next season is a viable possibility or if it might disrupt the franchise’s long-term strategy. Simons, however, emphasised that the decision rests entirely in the hands of the Indian cricket legend.
“Well, you’re seriously asking me that question?” Simons smiled when asked if the team is hopeful of seeing Dhoni play next year. “Yeah, look, we always are. I mean, honestly, he has hit the ball so well. He obviously had a leg injury, which made it very difficult for him to run, so that’s why he couldn’t play. But in terms of hitting the ball in the nets, he’s hitting it as well as I’ve ever seen him hit it.”
“But I keep saying this, only MS will know, and MS will make the decision about when he’s ready and when he’s right. And I tell you what, if he knows he’s not, he won’t play, but if he is right, he will. He’ll make the decision in the best interest of the team and not for himself as an individual. But it’d be great to have him playing. It’s been great just having him around the unit and being someone to tap into for knowledge and calmness,” he added.

CSK A Young Team, Needs Time: Simons
Reflecting on the turbulent nature of CSK’s campaign this year, Simons highlighted that the squad is in a developmental phase, with a lot of young players still learning to adapt and handle the weight of expectations. He also noted that untimely injuries to pivotal squad members severely hampered their consistency.
“I think an important part of winning an IPL is that you get your balance right and you have a side that can carry itself through, where your changes are made a long way before the game, not because someone’s out of form, but because you’re moving into a particular condition,” Simons asserted.
“We know ourselves a lot better as a unit now, and we also know a lot of the individuals better in terms of what they can and can’t do. Someone like Kartik has come along magnificently this season, we know what he’s about, Urvil, we know what he’s about. Obviously, the established players, we’ve always known who they were and what they are.”
“But I do know that we’ve come away from this tournament understanding ourselves as a unit better, and that stands us in good stead. Across the board, we’re quite a young or reasonably inexperienced side, and then we obviously had a lot of unlucky injuries along the way. Just as we were gaining momentum, we lost someone like Jamie Overton, who is such a balancing factor in our team. He is so important to our bowling attack through the middle overs so we don’t have to make radical changes, and he can also bat at the back end of the innings. Losing him threw us off a bit, but we’ve learned a lot about ourselves both as a unit and as individuals,” Simons concluded.

Logan Paul gets big backing from Vision stablemate
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Austin Theory and Logan Paul have one of their biggest tests as world tag team champions this weekend as they defend their titles against The Street Profits at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Theory and Paul are members of The Vision – the top faction on “Monday Night Raw” featuring the future of the WWE. Bron Breakker may be the in-ring leader of the group as he made a thunderous return to the roster at WrestleMania 42 and then defeated Seth Rollins at Backlash. Theory and Paul are the ones with the gold while Paul Heyman is the mouthpiece for the next generation of superstars.
With the tag team title around his waist, Paul has now held gold twice in WWE since making his debut with the company in 2021. Paul has the tools that any pro wrestler dreams of – the athletic prowess in the ring coupled with immense heat from the crowd along with his skills on the mic.
Theory told Fox News Digital that Paul’s rise in the WWE has made it tougher for any outsider to come in and have success, suggesting the YouTube sensation has set the bar enormously high.

LOGAN PAUL’S JAW-DROPPING SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT WOW FANS AT WWE MONEY IN THE BANK
“I say with Logan Paul, with his athletic ability and his skills in wrestling and how he’s been able to just develop it so quick,” he said. “It’s impressive to me – somebody who’s wanted to be in WWE since I was eight, started training at 18, signed with the WWE at 22 and took that longer path. But I have to give Logan his respect. This is a dude, as a young kid, started with YouTube and streaming and pretty much – dude created YouTube. He put it on the map, his whole streaming thing.
“Kind of both of us building our dreams in different ways and kind of meeting in the middle. I just think he kinda just messed it up for everybody on the outside that wants to come into WWE and thinks like, ‘Oh wow, this is easy. Like, I can pick up a mic and talk trash and I can do these cool moves off the ropes like Logan Paul,’ but you can’t. There’s an art to it. Logan Paul is exceptional on the mic. In the ring, he does things even highflyers we have in WWE couldn’t even do. He’s just a phenomenal athlete. When it comes to me and Logan Paul, we’re freaks of nature. That’s why I say we’re gonna motivate everybody this Saturday at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Fort Wayne.”
The Vision, which also includes an injured Bronson Reed, is under the tutelage of Heyman, who has been a “wiseman” and an “advocate” for many young talents in WWE.

“With Paul Heyman, you know, this history with him having Brock Lesnar, having Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Seth Rollins – you know, before he realized he was a loser,” he said. “Paul Heyman, man, he’s the ‘wiseman.’ I think anything that comes out of his mouth is gold and especially kind of molding The Vision and sending us in the right direction. I couldn’t ask for more. It’s just sitting under the knowledge tree of history. He’s from back in the 80s to present day. The dude’s done it all. I’m very grateful for the wiseman, Paul Heyman.”
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins will challenge for the tag titles. The two returned to “Monday Night Raw” after WrestleMania 42 after a prolonged absence.
Theory gave them credit where credit is due. They are three-time WWE tag champions and won the tag titles at NXT and Evolve. However, Theory made clear that Ford and Dawkins are running into “the greatest tag team champions of the world.”
“Well, the Street Profits. They’ve been in the WWE a very long time,” he said. “Feels like too long, like 60 years. I do realize every time I have a title, they’re around, which makes sense because they’re irrelevant and I’m relevant. But not to push them too low down, they’re very athletic, they have a great resume. But it’s just that comparison to Austin Theory and Logan Paul – The Vision. The greatest tag team champions of the world, of the universe. You can’t really compare.

“Unfortunately, yes, I said unfortunately, the show is in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I look at this match as more of a big motivational moment for those people because they’re gonna see two guys that don’t look like anybody from Fort Wayne. We look like freaking superheroes. We’re really there to inspire everybody and then after the match, get the hell out of there.”
Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place Saturday in Fort Wayne, Indiana, much to Theory’s chagrin. And, it’s a loaded card.

IPL 2026 Playoff Qualification Scenarios: With 4 matches to go, what RR, PBKS, KKR and DC need to grab final spot – paths for each team explained | Cricket News
The race for the final IPL 2026 playoff spot is down to four teams after Gujarat Titans crushed Chennai Super Kings by 89 runs in Ahmedabad to officially eliminate CSK from contention and almost seal a top-two finish for themselves.Three teams who are already confirmed for the playoffs are Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, while the fight for the last remaining berth is now between Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals.
GT almost lock in top-two finish, RCB and SRH battle for remaining spot
GT’s emphatic win took them to 18 points with an NRR of +0.695, but it was still not enough to overtake table-toppers’ RCB’s NRR. RCB take on SRH today for their last league game and they only need to avoid a massive defeat against SRH in Hyderabad to maintain their top spot. A win will take them to 20 points and punch their ticket for Qualifier 1. However, SRH have everything to play for despite their qualification. To leapfrog GT and secure a place in Qualifier 1 (top-two finish), they would need an extraordinary margin of victory against RCB. If they bat first, they will likely need to win by around 87-89 runs, depending on RCB’s first innings total being between 180-240. If chasing, they may need to hunt down targets in under 12 overs.
RR frontrunner for the final playoff spot
RR remain favourites to grab the final playoff berth. Currently on 14 points with one game remaining against eliminated MI on Sunday, RR know a victory at Wankhede will seal qualification on 16 points, because none of the remaining teams in contention can reach 16 points. Their position is strengthened by the schedule. By the time RR take the field against MI on Sunday afternoon, they will already know the outcomes of LSG vs PBKS, with PBKS being their closest competitor for the final playoff spot. The ideal scenario for RR is straightforward:
- Beat MI
- PBKS lose to LSG
- DC beat KKR
The danger for RR is their modest NRR of +0.083. A heavy defeat to MI combined with wins for PBKS or KKR could still complicate matters. In that scenario, RR will be stuck at 14 points, with PBKS and KKR moving 15 and superior NRR among the two teams deciding the final playoff spot. RR’s loss will be beneficial for both KKR and DC as they would know exactly what they have to do to claim the final spot in the last league fixture of IPL 2026.
PBKS need to beat LSG and hope RR stumble
PBKS are still alive despite five straight defeats. A win over already-eliminated LSG would take PBKS to 15 points, a total that could yet be enough for fourth place. That will make Sunday’s two fixtures virtual knockouts for both RR and KKR. However, PBKS’ biggest hope is MI upsetting RR. If RR win and move to 16, PBKS can no longer finish above them.If PBKS win, and RR lose, then Punjab Kings will closely watch KKR vs DC. Since those two teams face each other directly, a KKR win will complicate matters for PBKS, but a win for DC would mean PBKS will be through. PBKS do at least possess a healthy NRR advantage over RR and KKR, meaning ties on points could still favour them.Their equation:
- Beat LSG
- Hope RR lose to MI
- Hope DC beat KKR
KKR face virtual knockout against DC
KKR kept themselves alive by beating MI earlier in the week and now sit on 13 points with one game remaining. Their final league clash against DC has effectively become a knockout game.A win takes KKR to 15 points and keeps them alive. A defeat eliminates them. But even if KKR beat DC, they still need RR to lose against MI. If RR win and reach 16, KKR cannot catch them.KKR would also prefer PBKS to lose against LSG because PBKS reaching 15 would likely bring NRR into the picture. The positive for KKR is that their NRR has finally turned positive at +0.011 after the MI victory, giving them at least a fighting chance in a tie on points.Their equation:
- Hope PBKS lose to LSG
- Hope RR lose to MI
- Beat DC
DC hanging by a thread
DC remain mathematically alive but probably have the toughest task. Their NRR of -0.871 is comfortably the worst among the contenders, meaning ties on points are unlikely to help them.To stay alive, DC must beat KKR in the final league game. That takes them to 14 points. But even then, they would still need: RR to lose to MI and PBKS to lose to LSGEven under that scenario, DC could still require a major NRR swing depending on margins. In reality, DC likely need:
- A big win over KKR
- RR to lose heavily
- PBKS to lose
Anything short of that probably ends their campaign.

Sun, Storm meet in rubber game of season series
May 20, 2026; Seattle, Washington, USA; Connecticut Sun forward Nell Angloma (33) and forward Aaliyah Edwards (8) celebrate with guard Kennedy Burke (25) after Burke scored a basket to take the lead with 2.8 second left in the game against the Seattle Storm during the second half at Climate Pledge Arena. Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-Imagn Images One might have thought the Connecticut Sun won more than their first game of the season on Wednesday.
The Sun (1-5) doused coach Rachid Meziane with water in the locker room following an 80-78 victory in Seattle that snapped a five-game losing streak.
The teams are scheduled to meet again Friday night in Seattle.
Kennedy Burke converted a three-point play with 2.8 seconds remaining as the Sun won without 10-time All-Star center Brittney Griner, who was sidelined with a right rib injury.
“We won this game because we played with a lot of pride,” Meziane said. “… We didn’t panic, even when Seattle came back in the game, and when they were up. We stayed locked in and very focused on the moment.”
The Storm (1-4) trailed for a vast majority of the night before taking the lead with 59 seconds remaining on Jade Melbourne’s driving layup. Mackenzie Holmes added two free throws with 40.8 seconds to go to extend the lead to three.
Aaliyah Edwards made a driving layup with 32 seconds left to pull the Sun within 78-77 before Burke’s winning play.
“We just had to transition back better,” Storm coach Sonia Raman said. “We will be better on that one next time, but they got us on that one.” Rookie Charlisse Leger-Walker, who started her collegiate career at Washington State before capping it with an NCAA championship at UCLA, had 16 points and three assists to lead the Sun.
Natisha Hiedeman led Seattle with 20 points and five assists, but her 3-point attempt at the final buzzer misfired.
“It happens. I really wanted that win,” Hiedeman said. “There was a lot of other areas we just need to clean up, though. I’m ready to play again on Friday already.”
Seattle won 89-82 on Mother’s Day at Connecticut, so Friday will be the rubber game of the season series. Griner (15.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg) is listed as questionable for Friday, but starting Storm center Dominique Malonga (16.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg) will miss her third straight game as she continues to be in concussion protocol.

Golden Knights ‘not fazed’ by favored Avs, bidding for 2-0 series lead
May 20, 2026; Denver, Colorado, USA; Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Dylan Coghlan (52) celebrates with teammates after scoring during the second period against the Colorado Avalanche in game one of the Western Conference Final of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Ball Arena. Mandatory Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images The Vegas Golden Knights did what Los Angeles and Minnesota couldn’t in the first two rounds of the playoffs — beat the Colorado Avalanche on their ice.
Vegas stole Game 1 of the Western Conference finals with a 4-2 win Wednesday night. The Golden Knights will try to sweep the road trip when the teams meet for Game 2 on Friday night in Denver.
The Golden Knights improved to 5-2 on the road in these playoffs and 16-4-1 overall since head coach John Tortorella took over with eight games remaining in the regular season. They went from fighting for a playoff spot to three wins away from a third trip to the Stanley Cup Final and a potential second championship in their nine-year existence.
Vegas beat the Presidents’ Trophy winners with a strong forecheck and one unexpected goal source: Defenseman Dylan Coghlan scored the first playoff goal of his career in just his eighth NHL game this season.
“Our players aren’t fazed,” Tortorella said. “We’ve gone over how we want to play. It’s not changed from series to series, quite honestly. We’re trying to play our game, not worrying too much about countering off another team. We’re going to try to play our game, and I think they feel very comfortable in it.”
The Golden Knights were still without captain Mark Stone, who hasn’t played since Game 3 against Anaheim in the conference semifinals. Stone is dealing with a lower-body injury and doesn’t seem likely to play in Game 2.
Superstar Colorado defenseman Cale Makar also sat out Game 1 with an upper-body injury, just the second time in his career he missed a playoff game due to injury. Makar, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy when the Avalanche captured the Stanley Cup four years ago, skated at the team’s optional practice on Thursday but his status won’t be determined until Friday.
“We’ll see what tomorrow brings,” head coach Jared Bednar said after Thursday’s practice. With or without Makar, Friday night is a near must-win for Colorado, which has been forthcoming all season that its only satisfactory finish is winning another Stanley Cup. The Avalanche struggled Wednesday night against the Vegas forecheck, but they found some room in the third period when they cut their deficit to 3-2 on goals by Valeri Nichushkin and Gabriel Landeskog.
Nichushkin’s line, which includes center Nazem Kadri and winger Ross Colton, generated chances. Kadri nearly scored in the final seconds of the first period, only to be denied with a great save by Carter Hart. Bednar said while the team struggled to create scoring opportunities, Nichushkin found success in the dirty area.
“Look where he scores his goal, and if you look at a couple of other chances he had, they’re right in the blue paint,” Bednar said. “Historically, that’s where Val tends to get his best chances.”
The Avalanche will need more from the top two lines, which were held down for most of the game. Nathan MacKinnon, who had just three shots on goal and was blanketed on most shifts, said his team needs to be better overall. “We just weren’t sharp,” MacKinnon said afterward. “Execution was poor from everybody. Yeah, just got to be sharper than that.”

Sarah Gillane Inspired As Limerick Begin Camogie
By Daragh Ó Conchúir
Sarah Gillane may be relatively new to the Limerick camogie squad, but the Patrickswell goalkeeper is already comfortable taking on a leadership role.
Now completing her first year in full-time teaching at Árd Scoil Rís, the all-boys secondary school where her older brothers Aaron and Jason, along with many Limerick hurlers past and present, developed their skills, Gillane is a natural mentor.
German may be her official subject, but helping and developing young players is also a passion. She is currently helping with the U6s at Patrickswell, coaching the first-year hurling team at school, and is also involved with the hockey squad.
From Patrickswell To The Limerick Senior Squad
Gillane was part of the Limerick junior panel that reached the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland final in her Leaving Cert year in 2019. However, the 25-year-old did not receive her senior call-up until last season.
She had captained Patrickswell in 2024 and played a key role as the club claimed both the Limerick Intermediate Championship title and, last November, the Munster junior cup.
Gillane has carried that form into this season. Her performance in the Munster semi-final defeat to eventual champions Tipperary drew huge praise, particularly for the quality of her shot-stopping.
“We knew going into the Tipperary game that they bring huge intensity and huge experience,” Gillane said.
“They always do, but it was great to be able to match their energy and their workrate for periods of the game, especially when we’re looking at them being a Division 1A team.
“That is the goal. That’s what you’re looking to achieve, and it’s great to get the chance to play teams like that to see where you are at.”
Inspired By Jason Gillane And Nickie Quaid
Goalkeeping has changed hugely in recent years, and Gillane has obvious role models close to home in her brother Jason and Limerick legend Nickie Quaid.
Jason’s drive has pushed Quaid to keep improving, while both men’s commitment to excellence continues to inspire Sarah.
“Looking at Jason in goals and Nickie Quaid with the hurlers, it’s great. It’s motivation behind it all.”
“You can see what these goalies put in, in order to get the results, because inevitably it’s an important role as well.”
Limerick Camogie Building Belief
Gillane has also seen the impact of Limerick hurling’s golden era at close quarters, with Aaron Gillane central to a team that has won five of the last eight All-Ireland senior hurling titles.
Rather than seeing that success as a burden, she views it as motivation for Limerick camogie.
“At home, seeing what Aaron and Jason put into it, and what they offer to their teams, and what they sacrifice, it’s really a motivation.”
She believes there has been a major mindset shift within Limerick camogie in recent years.
“I think it’s all really positive now, and there’s a serious drive in the group. We know what we can do and it’s a matter of putting that across in all these games.”
Kilkenny Challenge Opens Championship Campaign
Limerick begin their All-Ireland Championship campaign tomorrow with a trip to UPMC Nowlan Park to face Kilkenny at 3.30pm.
Kilkenny narrowly missed out on a place in the Division 1A League final on score difference to eventual winners Galway, so Limerick face a serious test from the opening round.
Gillane, however, welcomes the new championship structure, which gives teams a run of games and a clear route towards the quarter-finals.
“Championship is what you train all year for, so we’re really excited to get going.”
For Gillane and Limerick, the challenge is clear. They want to set their standards, embrace the occasion and continue building towards the level they believe they can reach.

Union opened up about her heartbreak before opting for surrogacy with Wade during a previous appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s “SuperSoul Conversations.” She and her husband experienced several miscarriages until their daughter was born in 2018 via surrogacy, but Union said initially it was difficult to accept because she had always wanted to know what it was like to be pregnant.
