Are there FA Cup replays in the third round and do games go to extra-time & penalties?

THE FA Cup third round is back this weekend.

Premier League and Championship clubs have now entered the competition.

There are several blockbuster ties between as Macclesfield play holders Crystal Palace, Wrexham face Nottingham Forest and Charlton meet Chelsea.

But the question on fans’ lips up and down the country is what happens should it be a draw after 90 minutes.

Are there replays in the FA Cup third round?

Traditionally, when FA Cup ties would end in a draw before the semi-finals, the two sides would play each other in a replay to decide which team would progress to the next round.

However, in 2024, replays were scrapped during every round of football‘s oldest competition.
