Amy Schumer’s ‘Single Mom’ Milestone Scrutinized
Amy Schumer recently celebrated her son Gene’s seventh birthday, describing it as her “first as a single mom” following her split from Chris Fischer.
The comedian shared photos from the party and family outing on social media while continuing to focus on co-parenting their son after announcing their separation in late 2025.
While Amy Schumer considered her “single mom” moment a milestone, it has led to mixed reactions from individuals online.

On Sunday, Schumer delighted fans when she shared photos from her son Gene’s seventh birthday, while also marking a milestone as a “single mom” after separating from her husband, Chris Fischer.
“This women [sic] just threw her first birthday party as a single mom,” the comedian wrote, celebrating her achievement, while sharing a playful photo where her face was painted with pink flowers.
Schumer also posted pictures with close friends and her mother, Sandra, writing: “When your friends are family.”
Gene appeared in several photos from the celebration, though Schumer covered his face with emojis. Her estranged husband, Chris, was, however, not seen at the party.
The birthday included a ninja-themed cake topped with a city scene, along with a family trip to the Central Park Zoo, where they saw animals including bears, a snow leopard, a red panda, and a porcupine.
The cake also carried a “Happy 7th Birthday Gene” message, marking the occasion.
The Comedian’s ‘Single Mom’ Comment Drew Negative Reactions

On social media, some critics of the comedian seemed to take issue with her “single mom” comment, with some claiming it wasn’t worth celebrating.
One person commented, “#Amy Schumer is not a single mother! Her son had a father who was in the picture! A father who contributes. Not cool.”
Another asked, “Celebrating breaking up a family??” while a third noted, “So now she’s skinny, divorced, and unfunny.”
One critic harshly asked, “Why do so many single moms think it’s a badge of honor?” while another remarked, “Single mom… how sad for the child.”
Amy Schumer And Chris Fischer Focus On Co-Parenting After Split

Schumer and Chris married in 2018 and welcomed their son in 2019. In late 2025, the “Trainwreck” actress announced their separation, saying the decision was mutual and focused on co-parenting.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote, “Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years.”
She added, “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.” She later filed for divorce in early 2026.
Despite the split, a source told Page Six that the pair had continued living together for their son’s sake. The insider said Schumer wanted a stable co-parenting arrangement and expected Chris to remain closely involved in Gene’s life.
The source also noted that while Schumer had no plans to reconcile romantically, she “wants them to continue to be very much united when it comes to raising their son.”
“Amy wants Chris to stick around for Gene … If she contemplates another comedy tour at any point in the future, she wants Chris to be the one looking after Gene and ideally be willing to travel with her,” the insider shared.

Gene was born on May 5, 2019. At the time, Schumer jokingly announced the news by saying her “royal baby was born,” referencing the fact that his arrival came shortly before the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie.
Later speaking about motherhood, the “Kinda Pregnant” actress described childbirth as both frightening and rewarding. In an interview with People Magazine, she said the experience was “the most terrifying thing you’ll ever do that’s completely worth it,” adding that after a difficult pregnancy, she was especially ready to finally meet her son.
She has also shared lighthearted stories about Gene over the years. During a 2022 appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Schumer recalled seeing her son, then two years old, admiring himself in the mirror while wearing a baseball cap with a train on it.
According to Schumer, Gene gave himself a confident thumbs-up while looking at his reflection, a moment she said perfectly captured childhood confidence and self-love.
Amy Schumer’s Slimmer Look Raises Eyebrows

Meanwhile, Schumer has also been getting attention online for her recent transformation.
The 43-year-old comedian recently posted a nighttime photo of herself standing on a New York street in a cream-colored dress with puff sleeves and a fitted waistline that highlighted her slimmer figure.
She kept the look simple with dark heels, loose waves in her hair, and minimal styling, while the city backdrop gave the image a relaxed and candid feel.
Fans filled the comments with compliments, with many praising both her appearance and glowing skin. Some called her “beautiful,” while others reacted with fire emojis and supportive messages.
Schumer has openly spoken about her body and health in the past, and her recent transformation has sparked fresh discussion online.
Some fans said she looked noticeably different compared to earlier public appearances, while others focused on her confidence and overall glow.

Prime Video’s New ‘Reacher’ Series Will Officially Be Very Different From Alan Ritchson’s Crime Thriller [Exclusive]
Prime Video‘s Reacher has easily become one of the most popular shows on the streamer, let alone all of television. The world has absolutely fallen in love with Alan Ritchson‘s adaptation of Lee Child‘s iconic hero, especially since the Tom Cruise feature films missed much of what made the original books special, according to franchise fans. Unsurprisingly, Alan Ritchson’s action superstar will officially return in 2026 with Reacher Season 4, but that’s actually not the only Reacher story that’s on the horizon this year.
Also expected in 2026 is Prime Video’s first-ever Reacher spin-off, Neagley, which will follow Maria Sten‘s character of the same name, who has been a part of Jack Reacher’s journey since Season 1. A U.S. Army Master Sergeant and security consultant, Neagley is easily the closest thing Reacher has to a best friend, making her the perfect vehicle for the franchise’s first offshoot. Of course, Sten is returning to reprise her fan-favorite role, but she’s not the upcoming spin-off’s only cast member.
Also on board is Adeline Rudolph, best known for her work in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Riverdale, and the upcoming big-screen video game movie, Mortal Kombat II. During an interview for the latter blockbuster sequel, I had the opportunity to speak with Rudolph about what fans can expect not only from Mortal Kombat II, but also Neagley. Rudolph explained that while Neagley is tonally distinct from the flagship Reacher series, it is still “definitely” in the same world. Plus, it will also reunite her with a fellow Mortal Kombat II alum:
“Without spoiling too much, firstly, Maria Sten, who plays Neagley, is amazing, and we’ve got an incredible cast. I really feel like Neagley holds her own in this spin-off, and we’ve got an amazing adventure ahead. Funnily enough, I get to work with Damon Herriman again, who plays our Quan Chi. It’s a little bit different in tone, but it definitely has the elements that people love from the Reacher series. We’re definitely living in the same universe.”
‘Neagley’s Adeline Rudolph Plays a Video Game Icon in ‘Mortal Kombat II’
Before she officially joins the “Reacherverse” with Neagley, Adeline Rudolph is joining one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time with Mortal Kombat II, as a character that fans will instantly recognize. Similar to Karl Urban‘s Johnny Cage and Damon Herriman’s Quan Chi, Kitana — the dual-fan-wielding Princess of Edenia and Outworld — was noticeably absent in the first Mortal Kombat reboot movie from 2021, but now Rudolph will bring the beloved character to life. Not only that, but she’ll also be reuniting with her Chilling Adventures of Sabrina co-star Tati Gabrielle, who plays the longtime companion and sometimes rival to Kitana, Jade.
Neagley and Reacher Season 4 are expected to debut on Prime Video in 2026. Until then, Adeline Rudolph can be seen in Mortal Kombat II, which premieres in theaters on Friday, May 8, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Marcellus Wiley Accused of Rape by Ex ESPN Employee, Others
Former Pro Bowl defensive end Marcellus Wiley is facing new sexual assault allegations from four women, including a former ESPN production assistant.
Wiley, 51, who is married to former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Annemarie Wiley, played 10 seasons in the NFL before spending five years as an analyst at ESPN.
The four new allegations mean a total of seven women have now accused him of assault, dating back to 2023.
The former ESPN employee alleged that Wiley lured her to his hotel room in 2009 under the guise of a work meeting.
“When we went to his room, Wiley excused himself to use the bathroom,” the woman alleges, according to a court filing obtained by Us Weekly (Rolling Stone was first to report on the additional allegations.) “He emerged from the bathroom naked. He pushed me up against the windows of the room so hard I thought they would shatter. I was petrified and believed I was going to be killed.”
She continued, “I repeatedly pleaded with him to stop and to let me go. He would not. He pushed me face down on the bed and kept me there with my face pressed into the mattress in such a way that I had difficulty breathing, which made me fear for my life. Wiley held me down and masturbated over me until he ejaculated. Only then did he allow me to leave the room.”
Another accuser said Wiley first met her when she was 13 years old, showering her and her family with gifts for five years until she turned 18.
“Marcellus Wiley raped me on my 18th birthday, after grooming me from the age of 13,” she claimed in the same filing. “If Columbia [University, where Wiley attended college] had properly pursued the complaints… I would never have been groomed and raped.”
The other two women claim Wiley raped them in California between 1995 and 1999, spanning the end of his college career and the beginning of his time with the Buffalo Bills.
Wiley took to YouTube on Tuesday, May 5, in which he denied the allegations against him.
“I’m going to continue to challenge all these false accusations,” he said. “I’m exposed to inconsistencies, [I] break down the film and confront what I believe to be attempts at [causing harm to] my reputation through legal coercion or legal extortion.”
Wiley continued, “They’re trying to leverage lies for personal gain. As they say, assassination by accusation. That’s their goal. They’re trying by lying. They don’t want justice. They want just ice. Money, bling, things.”
The new accusations came as part of an effort from one of the three Jane Doe accusers from his Columbia days to turn her previously filed case into a class-action suit against the university.
One of the women claimed to have reported the alleged assault to the school but was advised by a dean not to go to the police in an effort to protect her reputation. She was allegedly told that Wiley would be placed on probation. Another accuser claims she reported the alleged incident to the university and was told that Wiley would be suspended. The third was allegedly told by the university that any disciplinary action against the star football player would have to wait because the Lions had “a big game coming up against Princeton.”
“By promoting, protecting, and elevating a sexual predator… Columbia University created a false image of Wiley… thereby enabling Wiley’s vicious propensity to rape/assault women,” Laura Gentile, who represents the three women, wrote in the court filing.
Wiley has previously spoken out about the three prior allegations, which came to light in 2023 and allegedly occurred while he was a Columbia student in 1994. He called the accusations “B.S.” on his YouTube channel at the time and his lawyer said in a court filing that Wiley “denies the allegations that he sexually assaulted or raped any students of Columbia University.”
“Defendant denies that he committed any of the wrongs alleged, denies that plaintiff or any other purported members of the class were harmed by him, and denies that the claims in the complaint are properly asserted as a class action,” Wiley’s lawyer wrote in an answer to one of the Jane Doe lawsuits, according to Rolling Stone.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’s Stunning Season 2 Finale Is Among Marvel TV’s Best
Editor’s note: The below recap contains spoilers for the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has officially turned skeptics into fans with a storyline that feels eerily close to the original Netflix series that started it all. Where Season 1 divided the fanbase with its loose connectivity to that original show, Season 2 has had great episode after great episode thanks to dynamite performances, no-holds-barred action, and a clearer reverence for the series that came before. From Daredevil’s (Charlie Cox) daring prison breakout to Bullseye’s (Wilson Bethel) attack on the boxing match, several scenes have easily entered the pantheon of great Daredevil moments.
Another admirable aspect of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is its willingness to put major characters at risk, as the deaths of Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) and Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini) have rocked the show’s survivors to their core. Now the final fight is here, and if you thought Matt Murdock had been put through the wringer already, think again. Not only does the stunning Season 2 finale fundamentally change Daredevil’s place in the MCU forever, but it also raises a lot of great questions about where the already confirmed Season 3 will go next.
Matt Murdock Reveals His Secret Identity in the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Finale
Before that historic moment in Cox’s long MCU history takes place, Matt needs some patching up. Thankfully, his partner in fighting crime, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), is here to help. He’s going to have to make a full recovery and recruit all the friends he can if he wants to take down Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), hopefully once and for all this time. Once Matt is healed, he returns to the courtroom to help get his beloved Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) out of the legal mess she’s in. It’s not going to be easy, especially when Matt’s ex-girlfriend, Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva), is lying on the stand not long after repeatedly assaulting Karen. To take the lead in this rigged case against Karen, Matt is going to have to pull out all the stops, which is what leads him to call Fisk to the stand.
For over 10 years, Matt and Fisk have been engaged in a fierce battle of brawn, but it’s clear that the only way Daredevil will ever achieve true victory over the nefarious Kingpin is by using strategy, not brute force. As Matt probes Fisk about his relationship with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, our hero does the one thing that neither Fisk nor fans of the series expected: Matt reveals to the courtroom — and the world — that he is Daredevil. It takes a little convincing, but after Matt expertly sends his cane bouncing off the courtroom walls and back into his hand, there’s no doubt he’s the infamous vigilante of Hell’s Kitchen.
For years now, Fisk has hung the threat of revealing Matt’s secret identity overhead should Daredevil get too close to dismantling his criminal enterprise. In actuality, Fisk makes clear early in Season 2 that doing so would very likely turn Matt into a martyr that New York’s citizens can sympathize with, but that’s really only scratching the surface. With Matt’s identity as Daredevil now completely out in the open, he can personally testify to Fisk’s decades-worth of crimes in a true legal setting, which could very well stop the Kingpin in his tracks for good this time.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2’s Final Battle Is an Insurrection at City Hall
Matt revealing himself as Daredevil is New York’s biggest story since Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) leaked Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) secret identity to the world (before the world magically forgot about that historic event). As a result, Fisk is officially on the defensive, and the only supporters he has left are those closest to him. Someone who is certainly not close to him is his former associate Bullseye, who takes yet another shot at the Kingpin at the courthouse, but hits his faithful servant Buck (Arty Froushan) instead.
Hours later, Daredevil’s supporters are surrounding City Hall before breaking in, kickstarting a full-blown insurrection. Daredevil, Jessica, and a now-exonerated Karen go there to intervene, and the result is nothing short of a bloodbath. With nothing left to lose, Fisk is absolutely clobbering the Daredevil protesters who have broken into the building, practically tearing them limb from limb as Daredevil (as well as Camila Rodriguez‘s new White Tiger) takes down the AVTF’s stragglers. Speaking of, Cole North (Jeremy Isaiah Earl) finally follows in the footsteps of his more noble comics counterpart by standing up to his partner Powell (Hamish Allan-Headley) when he orders Cole and his subordinates to start gunning down protesters.
In the aftermath, a defiant Fisk stands before the protesters in a vain attempt to explain why he’s a necessary evil for New York. Daredevil’s supporters aren’t listening to this nonsense from the man who just broke the spine of one of their peers just minutes ago, so they start wailing on the grieving, evil mayor. However, Matt still isn’t willing to let mob mentality rule the day, so even after everything his nemesis has done, Daredevil saves Fisk from the mob and demands he leave New York, for good this time. Fisk agrees, and once again, Daredevil has bested the Kingpin of Crime.
How Does Season 2’s Finale Set Up ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3?
At long last, New York can rest easy now that Fisk is no more, but at a cost. Matt revealing his identity as Daredevil may have helped get Fisk out of New York, but it also outed him as someone engaging in illegal vigilante work, which puts him behind bars with some of the AVTF’s now-unemployed goons. It’s a fitting but ironic fate, especially since Fisk is seen looking longingly into an ocean while wasting away on a beach.
Matt and Fisk aren’t the only ones who have some interesting endings that chart a path toward Season 3. Heather officially completes her transformation into Muse’s (Hunter Doohan) successor by putting on the ruthless serial killer’s mask. Bullseye is seen sitting on a plane next to Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard), and a flight attendant referring to the latter as Mr. Robertson confirms what many fans suspected: that the mysterious character is simply using a pseudonym. Bullseye’s revealed involvement with Charles could also mean he struck a deal with the government or perhaps even Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) to work off his sentence through some less-than-legal activities overseas.
Last but certainly not least (even though the set photos from Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 have already confirmed it), we get the cameo everyone has been hoping for: the return of Luke Cage (Mike Colter). After getting rid of Fisk, Luke returns from the mission Charles previously referenced, reuniting him with his beloved Jessica and their daughter. With Matt behind bars and Jessica back together with Luke, the possibilities for where Season 3 can go next are simply endless.

Heidi Klum Shows BTS Transformation for Met Gala 2026 Look
Heidi Klum went all out for her 2026 Met Gala look.
Klum, 52, rocked prosthetics to transform into a living statue in honor of fashion’s biggest night, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 4. Following the gala, Klum took to Instagram on Tuesday, May 5, to show exactly how she got into her custom Mike Marino ensemble. In the clip, Klum arrived at a studio as her FX squad began the lengthy process on her look, representing the 1847 sculpture, the Veiled Vestal by Raffaele Monti.
“This year’s Met Gala theme is ‘Costume Art,’” Klum explained in the video. “And here is my take on it.” The camera then showed makeup artists gluing prosthetics onto her face, as well as a hidden zipper in the back of her costume.
Klum then showed herself in a bald cap while getting her hands painted. “I have to get my nails done. Chop, chop, chop. Normally, I don’t have nails that short,” she laughed.
Marino explained that in order to create the look, they first 3-D scanned Klum’s “entire body.”
“Based on that scan, we sculpt the design with all the folds and fabric and we got through a very lengthy technical process,” he said, noting it was still nearly the same as how classical artists created their work. “[We’re just] using more advanced materials.”
Marino then hilariously fed Klum a burger as she continued to get painted. She then covered her body in a plastic wrap to help the mold slide on her body more easily. “I already look gorgeous,” she gushed once she was in the costume. “Look at this! Holy smokes.”
Her prosthetic face was then glued onto her skin with some final makeup touches to fill in the gaps.
“Not only are we doing one of the hardest designs ever created, our work has to move. It has to be flawless,” Marino continued. Klum concluded the video by showing herself getting out of her sprinter van and posing on the red carpet.
“It all starts with a vision,” Klum captioned the post. “The theme of this year’s Met Gala was ‘Fashion is Art’ and here is my take on it…a piece of fine art, reimagined in motion. There is nothing I love more than creative collaboration with true artists who worked tirelessly to turn this idea of transforming fabric into sculpture into what the world saw on the steps of the Met. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🤍.”

Ryan Reynolds Reportedly Pushed Blake Lively Toward Settlement
New reports suggest Ryan Reynolds played a key role in encouraging Blake Lively to settle her long-running legal dispute with her former co-star, Justin Baldoni.
Insiders claim the Hollywood star felt the case was starting to affect his wife’s career, reputation, and personal life.
Shortly after Blake Lively settled her legal issues, she surprised fans by appearing at the Met Gala, a move many didn’t see coming due to the controversial case.

According to a report, Reynolds believed the dispute was beginning to affect multiple areas of Lively’s life, including her public image, career, and personal relationships.
One insider told journalist Rob Shuter’s Substack that the actor “knew the longer this dragged on, the more it would erode everything.”
Another source said the “Gossip Girl” alum had become deeply emotionally invested in the lawsuit and was determined to defend her position throughout the process.
“It wasn’t about winning anymore — it was about proving she was right,” the source noted. “She couldn’t see how much it was costing her in real time.”
However, insiders alleged that the ongoing attention surrounding the case eventually began taking a visible toll both professionally and personally.
A third source claimed the situation became a turning point for Lively, who reportedly decided “the one thing she refused to lose was her marriage.”
Blake Lively And Justin Baldoni’s Legal Battle Ends With Settlement Ahead Of Trial

The legal dispute officially came to a close on May 4, when Lively and Justin Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, reached a settlement shortly before the case was expected to head to trial.
In a joint statement released by lawyers for both sides, the parties said they remained proud of the film “It Ends With Us,” and its message about supporting survivors of domestic violence.
The statement also acknowledged that concerns raised during the process deserved to be heard and expressed hope that everyone involved could now move forward peacefully.
They added: “It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
Most Of Blake Livele’s Claims Were Dismissed Ahead Of The Trial

The legal battle began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, accusing them of sexual harassment, defamation, and other claims.
Baldoni denied the allegations and later filed a countersuit for defamation against the actress and her husband, Reynolds.
Over time, several claims in the case were dismissed by Judge Lewis J. Liman, including Baldoni’s countersuit and many of Lively’s original allegations, particularly sexual harassment.
By the time a trial date approached, only a small number of claims against Wayfarer Studios remained active, while Baldoni himself was no longer listed as a defendant in the remaining counts.
The Actress Made A Striking Appearance At The Met Gala After Her Legal Settlement

Just hours after the news of the settlement broke, Lively appeared at the 2026 Met Gala in New York. She wore an archival Atelier Versace gown from 2006, paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, embracing the event’s “Costume Art” theme.
A standout detail from her look was a custom Judith Leiber clutch featuring artwork made by her four children: James, Inez, Betty, and Olin. Each child’s drawing was included on different sides of the bag.
Speaking on the red carpet, Lively said she wanted something meaningful rather than a traditional art reference.
According to People Magazine, she explained that her children each painted watercolors, and she chose to carry them with her for the night, joking that she “likes to have the kids with me” even when they’re not physically there.
Leiber’s creative team later said the collaboration was a natural fit, noting Lively’s “love of sparkle and touch of whimsy make her a dream client.”
They added that the custom piece was built specifically to showcase each child’s artwork individually in a four-sided design.
Ryan Reynolds Speaks On Family And Blake Lively

Meanwhile, Reynolds recently spoke about how his family has been handling the public attention surrounding Lively’s legal dispute with Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios.
In an interview for Today’s “Sunday Sitdown,” the actor shared that the situation has shown him how different “digital life” can be from what is actually happening behind the scenes.
He also took the opportunity to emphasize his love for his wife, stressing that he has never been more “proud” of a person.
“Really, without getting into too much, I have never in my life been more proud of my wife,” Reynolds noted.
He continued, “People have no idea what is really going on. I’ve never been more proud of someone in my life, with that level of integrity that they bring with them in everything they do.”

‘The Batman’ Director’s 10/10 Sci-Fi Prequel Is Officially Free to Stream
The advent of technology in filmmaking has been a blessing for audiences and filmmakers. In the last two decades, new innovations have helped genres like sci-fi and fantasy shine brighter. Long-running franchises like Star Wars have come a long way from using practical effects in 1977 to pioneering CGI, and the Volume tech for its shows, giving us a seamless glimpse of galaxy far far away, or think of superhero movies from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man using practical effects to Tom Holland’s ultra refined suits, or the groundbreaking visual of black hole in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar which was later validated by scientific community.
With good tech, movies have taken us to planets and shown us creatures we can only dream of once, like the sandworm in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise. Among the films that have made the best use of technology is the Planet of the Apes franchise. First started in 1968 heavily dependent on practical effects, and did innovative makeup work. Then came Tim Burton’s take in 2001’s Planet of the Apes, which used more advanced prosthetics but also put a full stop on full-scale practical ape suits in the franchise.
Then came the performance capture revolution, the Andy Serkis era, with The Batman director Matt Reeves on board to shoot performance capture in the real environment. The reboot trilogy shifted the paradigm, and the latest release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, pushed the envelope further by adding photorealism. Fans who’d love to revisit the reboot movies are in luck, as the first two movies are streaming free.
‘Planet of The Apes’ Reboot is Streaming Free
Tubi is streaming Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for free. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, Rise marks the start of the reboot franchise and follows Caesar (Serkis), a genetically enhanced chimpanzee who is first raised by chemist Will Rodman (James Franco). The 82% Rotten Tomatoes-rated film was a big hit, grossing $481 million worldwide.
Then came Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, set 10 years after the events of Rise, following the reboot’s success. It follows a group of human survivors as they battle to stay alive in the wake of a deadly pandemic, while Caesar tries to maintain control over his expanding ape community. It not only brought visual aesthetics to the storytelling but also added significant emotional weight to the franchise, with Serkis’ performance hailed as its backbone. For fans who’d like to see the final movie, War for the Planet of the Apes, will have to switch services and check out HBO Max, where it’s streaming.

Netflix’s 10/10 Crime Series Officially Takes Down the Streamer’s New ‘Reacher’ Replacement
Despite the release of the big-budget Netflix series Man on Fire, a holdover hit with far less cultural cachet is continuing to dominate the streamer’s viewership charts. Man on Fire, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is an action-packed update of the cult classic starring Denzel Washington, released over two decades ago. The seven-episode series is positioned as a way to attract viewers who enjoy shows such as Reacher and The Terminal List on Prime Video. Man on Fire has undoubtedly been successful so far, claiming the number one spot on the Netflix viewership charts worldwide. Domestically, however, it’s another story.
Released a week before the modestly well-reviewed Man on Fire, a three-part true-crime series set in Scotland continues to dominate the domestic chart. The series tells the story of a young pathologist from Glasgow, whose fiancé tells her in a moment of drunken honesty that he was involved in a hit-and-run incident some years prior. He panicked, and instead of calling for assistance, he and his twin brother buried the victim’s body on their sprawling ranch in the Scottish Highlands. The person’s disappearance was never solved. Over three episodes, the pathologist recalls the moral dilemma she faced after the revelation, the alleged inaction of the police in providing her with assistance, and her subsequent mental spiral.
It Has Been a Great Year for True-Crime on Netflix
We’re talking about the blockbuster new series Should I Marry a Murderer? It comes on the heels of similarly successful Netflix true-crime titles this year, such as The Investigation of Lucy Letby, Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart, Trust Me: The False Prophet, The TikTok Killer, The Predator of Seville, A Friend, a Murderer, and more. According to FlixPatrol, Should I Marry a Murderer? is still the number one show on Netflix in the United States, outperforming not only Man on Fire, but also the new seasons of Running Point and Beef, as well as the holdover title Unchosen. It doesn’t have an official Rotten Tomatoes score yet, but every review currently listed is positive. You can watch Should I Marry a Murderer? on Netflix, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Sci-Fi’s Most Terrifying Moon Mission Movie Was Unfairly Overlooked
By Will LeBlanc
| Published

Apollo 18 slipped into theaters in 2011 with a marketing hook built around “lost NASA footage,” leaning hard on viral ambiguity rather than star power. Unfortunately, a movie like Apollo 18 has a huge hurdle to overcome before it even gets started. It must defeat the “it’s just another found footage horror movie” naysayers and become its own unique film. Apollo 18 doesn’t exactly do that, but it does manage to get a few good scares out of the audience and send everyone home feeling like they should probably sleep with the lights on.
After the Apollo 17 mission, Apollos 18, 19, and 20 were canceled due to budgetary concerns at NASA, or so the public was meant to think. Apollo 18 intimates that only 19 and 20 were completely shut down, and that 18 was carried out under heavy classification by the Department of Defense.
In Apollo 18, three astronauts were sent into space to place equipment on the moon that would help the United States spy on the Soviet Union. At least, that’s what they thought. The DoD had other plans, though, as the crew unwittingly investigated an extra-terrestrial presence on the moon, which obviously started stirring up some trouble.

Apollo 18 makes every effort to make sure that you are paying attention to Tom Hanks in Apollo 13 when he explains every aspect of his mission to his son. Terms like “orbiter” and “LEM” are in heavy rotation between the astronauts with a dash of some technical jargon that will at least register in your brain if you’ve seen other space flight films rather than simply pinging off your atmosphere.
Of course, a film that takes place between three astronauts in a six-foot by six-foot space won’t make for the wordiest piece, but the few scientific words they do use make perfect sense even to the layman.
Realistically, this kind of Apollo 18 storytelling wouldn’t work in any other format than “found footage”. There’s virtually no character development; there are no side characters to act as exposition sponges to be talked at, just to get story elements across to the audience, and the astronauts are all pretty interchangeable.

It makes sense that the characters would all be very similar; they all went through the same training program, after all. As for exposition, why would these astronauts stop and explain what’s going on aloud to each other when they both already know what’s going on?
It could have been very distracting if Apollo 18 director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego had decided to stick huge swaths of dialogue into the film, having the characters dig deep into anything other than their current situation on the moon, and omitting it helped keep the story concise. But that doesn’t mean the movie was perfect.
Apollo 18’s first mistake was telling the audience that the entire film was edited from 80 hours of footage that mysteriously appeared on lunartruth.com. If that were true, then this film was edited together by the saddest jerk who ever bought Final Cut Pro.

Apollo 18 is, without a doubt, meant to be a horror film and in no way resembles anything other than a horror film. If this footage actually existed in this public database, the first film assembled would undoubtedly be 100% more educational. Sure, the content would be frightening, but the main goal would be to get this information across to viewers, not make them piss their pants in fear.
The Apollo 18 editing itself a lot of the time was barely editing at all, and a lot of times we actually see the ends of reels of the 16mm film the crew was supposedly filming with, an easy fix for anyone who knows how to operate an editing suite. Which leads to the film’s biggest shortcoming.
Apollo 18 is tiresome just to look at. It’s shot with about three stationary cameras and two handhelds that the astronauts frequently carry, and none of them seem to be shooting in the same format. The clarity is constantly shifting, the colors bend, and watching static roll across the screen like on a poorly tracked VCR gets really old, really fast. I recognize that they wouldn’t be shooting in HD, but a lot of the artificially added aging Apollo 18’s editors did to the footage is more distracting than it needed to be to uphold the authenticity of the story.

Fortunately, the film does enough right that even though you’re so tired of the footage itself, the story has immersed you enough to ignore it and just hang on for the ride. 90% of the film’s “scariness”, for lack of a better term, comes from the relentless atmospheric noise the sound team created.
There’s a constant undulating hum that builds a sense of unease on its own, regardless of the fact that there are also aliens on the moon. That, coupled with the LEM’s irregular beeps and boops, will unsettle even the most veteran horror fans.
Apollo 18’s greatest success is its capitalizing on one of mankind’s greatest fears: the ultimate isolation. This doesn’t take place in a house where, if you need help, you can call a priest, or in the woods, where, if you were to run far enough in one direction, you’d eventually find the end.
Apollo 18 takes place on the moon in one of the most claustrophobic places ever filmed. Even more so than the Apollo 13 living quarters. If there’s anything malevolent inside these astronauts’ living space, and there frequently is, they take minutes to suit up if they want to go outside away from the threat, and if they even get out the door, they’re on the freakin’ moon.
They don’t have neighbors, they don’t have help, they just have nothingness. Literally. Just the vacuum of space. That is terrifying. Having one thing actively trying to kill you is scary enough, but when there are a dozen ways for you to accidentally die on your own, you can’t help but be terrified.

Apollo 18 makes its mistakes, but ultimately, the film is enjoyable if you’re looking for a good scare. It’s a little slow and arduous at times, and it certainly lacks depth in its story and explanations, but the mystery is part of what the director is trying to create, and it helps support the film’s authenticity. Apollo 18 isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely worth your time if you go into it looking for horror.

Prince William’s Reaction Ahead Of Harry’s Infamous Interview
Prince William was not looking forward to the great expose from his estranged brother and his wife.
The Prince of Wales was reportedly not excited to hear the content of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s interview with Oprah Winfrey, based on the couple’s history of being very open with the family’s best-kept secret.
Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship broke down after the latter and his wife left their role in the Royal family in 2020 on the basis of media bullying and racism within the royal family.

In Kate Middleton’s latest biography, “Kate! The Courage, Grace and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen,” author Christopher Andersen had things to say about her husband being “literally sick with worry” in the build-up to Harry and Meghan’s explosive sit-down with Oprah Winfrey. According to Andersen, Middleton admitted that she could hear her husband throwing up in the bathroom for a full week before the interview aired.
The father of three was even “too distracted to think of food” because he was unsure of what his brother and sister-in-law could tell the press. Meghan and Harry did eventually say a lot in the interview, including Middleton’s heated argument with Meghan over a dress for Princess Charlotte for the wedding.
Harry equally confirmed that he was not on good terms with his brother, as there was a lot of hurt between the two of them. As shared by Page Six, Harry and Meghan also revealed that some unnamed members of the royal family raised concerns with Harry over the skin color of their unborn child and its consequences for the monarchy.
The Prince Of Wales Wants Harry & Meghan To Stop Milking Their Royal Family Privileges

In May, The Blast reported that sources from the palace shared that while rumors of reconciliation between the estranged members of the royal family are on a high, important requests are being made by Prince William.
According to the source, the Prince of Wales has now asked that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex find a way to stop monetizing their royal status, especially since they have not been putting in the work for years now.
The recent trip to Australia by Harry and Meghan also set some alarms off because the optics really felt like they were trying to financially benefit from the several commercial engagements that surfaced during the trip.
Harry and Megan participated in ticketed events and appeared on “MasterChef Australia” alongside paid appearances at a women’s retreat with ticket prices running into thousands.
Prince William Wants Accountability From His Estranged Younger Brother

The father-of-three has reportedly iced out his brother for years now, which has been the stumbling block on the path to reconciliation between them. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, the Prince of Wales sees his baby brother as the least trustworthy person around.
William himself allegedly has zero tolerance for perceived betrayals, and his memory often serves him right when it comes to recollecting and keeping streaks. In the words of British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard:
“Prince William is known to take a harder line than some. He’s setting his agenda for the future of the monarchy. There’s a difference between being ruthless and holding people accountable. He’s fearless and has a strong moral character.”
William reportedly knows that loyalty cuts both ways because betrayal has a very long shelf life, and all he wants is for Harry to hold himself accountable for future purposes.
William Claimed The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Labeled His Wife

The Blast shared that shortly after Meghan and Harry left their royal duties behind and started a new life in the United States, he leveled hefty allegations against the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The Prince and Princess of Wales allegedly never expected Prince Harry to end up with someone like Meghan, despite being huge fans of her show “Suits.” Harry continued that the famous status of Meghan, including her successful career, threatened his family, as there was a lot of stereotyping that was happening, and he was also guilty of it at the beginning of their relationship.
Harry continued that Markle’s background as an American actress, a divorcée, and a biracial woman may have influenced how some members of his family view her. He concluded that the stereotype definitely served as a barrier to them introducing or welcoming her into the family as one of them.
Prince William And Kate Middleton Want Their Own Australian Tour

Following the impressive visit of Harry and Meghan to Australia, William and Kate are also quietly planning their official royal trip, branded as the revenge tour. The royal couple is reportedly very aware that they need to give Australia a well-deserved royal visit, and it is their job to make it happen.
The planned tour will reportedly mark William and Kate’s first official visit to the country in over a decade, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will be along for the ride.
In 2025, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended an invitation to the future king when he paid a visit to the United Kingdom. He had assured the Royal Family that they would always be welcome in Australia, should they decide to plan a future tour.
