Tucker’s Fruit Gag Foreshadows Future Season
One of the most-discussed Easter eggs involves Jalen Thomas Brooks‘ character, John Tucker, who spends season 1 pledging Dean (Stephen Kalyn) and Beau Maxwell’s (Khobe Clarke) fraternity. Part of his hazing requires him to care for a piece of fruit — starting with a grape, which is later swapped for a strawberry, banana and watermelon as the season progresses.
Fans quickly connected the gag to The Goal, Tucker’s book in Kennedy’s series, in which his eventual love interest Sabrina James discovers she’s pregnant after a hookup with Tucker. Pregnancies are typically measured weekly by fruit size.

At Dean and Beau’s joint birthday party, Tucker dresses as a bumblebee and Logan (Antonio Cipriano) dresses as a hawk — a reference to the “birds and the bees” and Tucker and Sabrina’s future child.
“I’m a bumblebee, and then Logan’s a hawk or a bird,” Brooks told Deadline in May 2026. “[It is a] whole play on words was the birds and the bees, which is kind of correlated to both John Logan and John Tucker’s stories, in a sense. Specifically John Tucker’s. There’s a lot of foreshadowing going on in that episode.”
Brooks also teased Tucker’s future to Us Weekly: “You’re gonna see a lot of Tucker becoming this guy that he’s known to be in the books and everything. I’m excited for audiences to see Tucker, [who is] supposed to creep up on people, you know, and have a little bit of romance.”
Beau Maxwell’s Role Expanded
Clarke’s portrayal of Beau Maxwell — a Briar University football player and friend of the hockey team — has fans emotionally bracing for his onscreen fate. In Kennedy’s novels, Beau dies in a car crash during Sabrina and Tucker’s story, and viewers are already dreading the character’s expected exit.
“I mean, in season 1, we only get, I think, a little taste of Beau, but he does [fill] the screen a little,” Kennedy told Us. “I think that Khobe, he’s such a great actor and he’s the sweetest guy. He had a lot of the little comedic bits in the season.”
According to Kennedy, fans will “fall in love” with Clarke’s Beau before being “eventually devastated.”
Hunter Davenport’s Debut Delivers Major Twist
The season 1 finale introduced Hunter Davenport, played by Charlie Evans, in a major departure from the books. On the page, Hunter doesn’t appear until Dean’s book, The Score, before leading his own book, The Play — though he wasn’t linked to Allie (Mika Abdalla) in either.

And we also wanted to nod to the book fans that we might have some other characters that you might not expect showing up in fun ways.”
Louisa Levy and Elle Kennedy Explain Adaptation Approach
Levy exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2026 the team prioritized the series’ emotional core over a literal translation.
“We have a lot of stories told in different ways. We have eight episodes instead of the whole book. So we really started with the things that were super nonnegotiable — that without those things it wouldn’t be Off Campus,” the show creator said. “From there, we added as many of the book moments as we could. We dropped them in like Easter eggs.”
Kennedy, who consulted on scripts but didn’t have final creative control, told Us in a separate interview that she was prepared for changes from her source material.
“I went into this knowing they’re going to have to change certain things,” Kennedy said. “Every adaptation has that — especially because the book is written in first person so you’re getting their thoughts a lot. They have to find different ways to show it.”
Season 2 has already been renewed, with production beginning June 2026.

Former Disney Channel star turned adult film actress Maitland Ward is not holding back when it comes to Sydney Sweeney’s controversial “Euphoria” storyline. Ward, best known for playing Rachel McGuire on “Boy Meets World,” is speaking out against the HBO drama’s depiction of OnlyFans in season three, specifically taking issue with Sweeney’s character, Cassie Howard, and the increasingly explicit content she creates on-screen.
During a recent interview with TMZ, Ward criticized several of Cassie’s OnlyFans moments, including scenes showing the character posing with pigtails and a pacifier while wearing sheer clothing.
“There’s all sorts of stuff that you can’t do,” Ward said. “The whole child-baby thing is so disgusting … You just can’t go into that whole underage thing like that. I mean, you can do it to an extent if it’s very, very playful, like, you’re an adult being childlike or something. But just the way it was handled was so gross, and it’s just disgusting and vile.”
According to Ward, the scenes cross a line when it comes to content standards associated with platforms like OnlyFans. She explained to TMZ that “you don’t want pedophilia anywhere near pornography,” while adding that creators can face removal from the platform if they violate those rules.

The Book of Eli fell short of doubling its reported budget, with a global box office haul of $158 million, split between a $94 million domestic haul and a further $64 million from overseas markets. The movie only played in over 2,000 U.S. theaters for four weeks, opening in second place in the domestic box office charts and dropping in revenue by 52% in its second week. Unfortunately for The Book of Eli, it was going head-to-head with the near-$3 billion hit Avatar. At the time of writing, 16 years later, The Book of Eli is one of the ten most-streamed movies on AMC+ in the U.S.
Critics Weren’t Fond of ‘The Book of Eli’
Although the movie is proving popular 16 years on, there was little praise being thrown its way by critics in 2010. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film earned a disappointing 45% rating, with critics frustrated by an uneven plot and a script that felt underdeveloped. “This picture is a big waste of time,” one called it, while another declared it a “hot mess,” adding, “the filmmakers just tried to get too deep with something that was not fully developed.”

Tommy’s fight against Hall, 38, is set to take place one day after Hague’s projected due date on June 12. In a recent vlog, Hague assured fans she wasn’t upset over Tommy’s fight being scheduled so close to her due date.
“A lot of questions about, ‘How do you feel about Tommy’s fight,’ and obviously the date of it,” she told viewers in April. “Obviously I knew that you guys were going to be concerned about that and have questions about that, but fear not.”
The Love Island U.K. star went on, “Fear not fair maiden because we’re actually feeling really, really good about it and have a really good plan in place.”
Hague insisted that she was “not worried and I’m actually really, really happy” that Tommy got a fight on the calendar. (Tommy last stepped into the ring on May 9, 2025, when he defeated Kenan Hanjalic by unanimous decision in Budapest, Hungary.)

Was ‘Sing Street’ a Success?
Oh yes, this is one of the most beloved movies of the 2010s. It was a major critical success and a solid financial success, especially considering it was a small indie musical. “It was fun to look at some of the things that I could even do better as a dad,” he exclusively told Us in September 2025. “I work a lot, and I often have a lot of guilt about not being there as often as I could be. So I try to maybe overcompensate or do things to be there often.”
He continued, “But at the same time, you want your kid to look and see [that] this is what you have to do to provide for your family. So on the other hand, you can’t be there all the time because you’ve got to be setting an example. But on the other hand, you might be missing out on life moments that you’d [be there for] if you were a 9 to 5 dad who went to work every day and came home. So it’s a constant struggle in this business. It’s not easy.”
Duhamel went on to rave over his coparenting dynamic with Mari and Fergie, noting, “We all have to work together to make sure that this thing works.”
Kiefer Sutherland has canceled the U.S. leg of his ongoing tour due to low ticket sales, while continuing to perform shows in Europe and the U.K.

Kiefer Sutherland Cancels U.S. Tour Dates Over Low Ticket Sales
In a post shared on Instagram, the 59-year-old actor and musician said he was “disappointed” by the decision but felt continuing the shows in America wouldn’t be fair to fans or venues if attendance was low.
He added that anyone who had already purchased tickets would be refunded through their original point of sale, and expressed hope to return for future U.S. dates under better circumstances.
The cancellation affects several planned stops across major cities, including Los Angeles, Boston, and Phoenix. However, his final scheduled performance in Las Vegas is still currently listed as going ahead, along with a later appearance at a music festival in Canada.
Sutherland is still completing the European and U.K. legs of his “Love Will Bring You Home” tour, which supports his upcoming fourth studio album, “Grey,” set for release later this month.
The Actor Thanked His European Fans As The Tour Continues
Sutherland recently thanked European audiences online, saying the shows had been a positive experience as the tour continues.
The tour marks his first full run since 2024, as he has been steadily building his music career alongside his acting career.
His recent work has focused more on personal themes, with him describing the new album as a more introspective project shaped by his experiences over the past couple of years.
“In many ways, these songs mark a growth for me personally, as I wrote less about observations and more about personal feelings that I have been navigating in my own life,” he shared, per the Daily Mail.
Kiefer Sutherland Has Gotten Into Legal Troubles Over The Years
Sutherland’s recent tour announcement comes after a period of legal scrutiny earlier in the year, due to an incident involving a rideshare driver in Los Angeles.
Authorities reviewed the case, with further investigation requested before any final decisions on charges.
Sutherland was initially taken into custody in connection with allegations tied to the encounter and released on bail.
Best known for his role as Jack Bauer in “24,” the actor has faced multiple legal issues over several decades, including driving-related incidents and prior arrests.
His history includes incidents dating back to the late 1980s and 1990s, as well as later DUI-related cases in the 2000s that resulted in jail time, probation, and community service requirements.
The Actor Opened Up About Stigma Around His Music Career

In an interview with People Magazine, the actor acknowledged the common skepticism toward actors who transition into music, saying he once shared that same reaction himself.
“I had no intention of making an album. I hear about an actor wanting to do music, and my eyes roll back too,” Sutherland said, adding that he was fully aware of the stigma, which contributed to his reluctance for years.

In his chat with the publication, Sutherland explained that music had actually been part of his life since his teenage years, even though he never initially planned to turn it into a professional path.
According to the actor, his first album, “Down in a Hole,” came together more organically than expected after working with collaborators in the studio.
Sutherland recalled how a recording session with a collaborator named Jude helped shift his perspective.
After laying down a couple of songs early in the process, he was encouraged to consider turning the material into a full album.
“At the end, he said, ‘I really like your songs, and they are clearly yours. You should do them. You should make a record,’” Sutherland shared.
He initially dismissed the idea, joking that it would never happen, but said that after spending more time in the studio, the idea began to feel more realistic and eventually led to the creation of the record.
