Debate over security for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has intensified, with allies calling the loss of taxpayer-funded protection unfair while officials weigh political risks and ongoing threats.
The review comes as the couple faces fresh scrutiny over their Hollywood standing, following setbacks in their Netflix deal.
Critics argue Prince Harry and Meghan’s influence may be fading, raising broader questions about their public image, professional momentum, and long-term positioning in the UK and internationally.

A close associate of Prince Harry has criticized the decision to deny him publicly funded security in the UK, calling it “spiteful” as discussions continue over whether protection should be restored for him and Meghan Markle.
The couple lost automatic police protection funded by taxpayers after stepping back from their roles as senior royals and moving to the United States.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Harry’s friend Alex Rayner, who served alongside him in Afghanistan and joined him on an expedition to the North Pole, argued that the decision does not reflect Harry’s military service.
Rayner pointed out that “Harry is a royal who’s significantly served in the Armed Forces,” and questioned why he should now be expected to cover his own security costs, especially when other royals continue to receive protection.
He also referenced the upcoming Invictus Games, set to take place in Birmingham this July, where Harry is expected to appear, asking whether adequate support is being provided for such a high-profile event. “Are we not supporting him for that?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, government officials are reportedly divided on the issue. Members of the committee responsible for royal protection decisions, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), are said to be weighing the risks of reinstating security.
Some civil servants, including those from the Home Office and other departments, are concerned about potential political fallout and public reaction if taxpayer-funded protection is reinstated.
Sources suggest there is an ongoing debate within the group. While security and policing experts reportedly believe protection is necessary due to credible threats, others worry about the optics and political consequences of the move.
A detailed risk assessment is currently underway, but no final decision has been made.

The issue follows a legal setback for Harry last year, when he lost a court case arguing he was entitled to a formal review of the risks he faces.
He later described the outcome as a “good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up” and expressed frustration with the role of royal officials.
Harry has since appealed for the matter to be reconsidered, writing to Shabana Mahmood to request a fresh evaluation.
A subsequent review process was approved, and he has submitted the required documentation. He is now awaiting a final determination from the committee.

The latest developments surrounding the security arrangements for Harry and Meghan come at a time when the couple is also facing renewed questions about their influence in Hollywood, with some commentators casting doubt on their long-term momentum.
Despite securing an expanded multi-year, first-look deal with Netflix through their Archewell Productions company, reports indicate that Meghan’s lifestyle project, “As Ever,” has been dropped. The move has fueled fresh questions about their ability to maintain momentum in the industry.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield argued that the situation raises concerns about consistent delivery.
She emphasized that major partnerships of this scale are “built on execution, not just vision or vibes,” particularly in a highly competitive streaming landscape.
Schofield explained that while global recognition can initially open doors, maintaining success requires a steady stream of content that connects with audiences. Without that consistency, even globally recognized names can struggle to remain competitive in a crowded streaming market.

Similarly, commentator Hilary Fordwich also claimed that public sentiment toward Meghan and Harry has shifted, suggesting audiences have grown tired of what she described as “grievance-driven royal content.”
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Fordwich argued that the couple is now widely seen as “separated from all things royal.”
She added that their “track record of a failed brand is as bad as their plummeting poll numbers and dreadful viewership of each of their underwhelming failed ventures.”
Media executive John McDermott, co-founder of Caloroga Shark Media and creator of the “Palace Intrigue” podcast, has a different perspective, suggesting the Sussexes could benefit from adopting a different public relations approach, similar to that of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
According to McDermott, William and Kate tend to maintain a careful balance with the media, offering brief, positive appearances, such as a quick photo op of them pulling pints, throwing darts, petting a puppy, etc., before stepping back from the spotlight. This strategy, he said, helps sustain favorable coverage without overexposure.
“For Harry and Meghan, there may be something in that. Show up, look good, keep it positive. Sometimes less really is more,” he said.

Legendary ESPN announcer Dick Vitale announced he has been diagnosed with cancer for the fifth time.
“Today, my oncologist, Dr. Brown, informed me that my biopsy results have confirmed a diagnosis of melanoma in my lung and liver cavity,” Vitale, 86, said in a statement to ESPN on Monday, April 13. “I will be starting immunotherapy shortly and I plan on winning this battle.”
The sports commentator continued, “I’ve beaten melanoma. I’ve beaten lymphoma. I’ve beaten vocal chord cancer. I’ve beaten lymph node cancer. I’m four-for-four and I’m fully confident I’m going to make it five-for-five.”
Vitale added that he felt “truly overwhelmed by the love, support, prayers and messages” he’s received from family, friends, colleagues and fans.
“Their support has inspired me to keep fighting and I will do everything in my power to win another battle,” he wrote. “The best news I can share today is this: I feel fantastic.”
Vitale also shared that in addition to focusing on his cancer battle, he is raising money for children who have also been diagnosed with cancer and who likely do not have the same access to vital healthcare.
“At 86 years young, I’ve lived a hell of a life, and I’m more motivated than ever to raise money for kids battling cancer,” he reflected. “No child should ever have to go through what I’ve experienced.”
Vitale revealed that $105 million has been raised ahead of the gala for his Dick Vitale Gala on May 1. The fundraiser supports pediatric cancer research, with the goal of raising an additional 12 million.
In 2021, Vitale was treated for melanoma and lymphoma. He also underwent surgery for precancerous dysplasia and ulcerous lesions the same year. The following year, Vitale was declared cancer free. He was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer in 2023 and subsequently stepped away from his role as an ESPN announcer. One year later, Vitale underwent another surgery to remove cancerous lymph nodes from his neck.
In December 2024, Vitale announced he was cancer-free. The sports icon made an emotional return to the booth two months later to call the Duke-Clemson basketball game at Clemson’s Littlejohn Coliseum in South Carolina.
“I want to say thanks to all the people,” Vitale told the crowd, who gave him a loud standing ovation. “The reception here has been really off the charts. I’m so sorry for being so emotional — I can’t tell you how excited I am to be here. This is like my Super Bowl.”

Brandi Glanville’s latest attempt at a home remedy ended with a trip to urgent care after a TikTok health hack went badly wrong.
The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star said she was trying to fight off a cold when she followed viral advice involving garlic, only for the clove to get lodged in her ear.
The bizarre mishap comes after years of serious health struggles that Glanville says have already cost her hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Brandi Glanville recently revealed that a seemingly harmless TikTok trend landed her in urgent care after a clove of garlic got lodged in her ear.
Speaking candidly on her “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered” podcast, the 53-year-old said she was trying to shake off a cold she caught from her 18-year-old son, Jake.
Like many people looking for fast relief, Glanville said she came across videos claiming garlic could help clear congested sinuses. However, her experiment quickly spiraled.
Instead of helping, the garlic clove slipped farther into her ear canal than she expected. “It really went down further and I had to go to urgent care the next day and get it taken out,” she admitted.
Glanville explained that she had first tried placing the garlic in her nostril, but it quickly became too painful due to recent cosmetic work. “It was burning too much so I moved it to my ear. It was like burning my skin because I’d just lasered it,” she said.
Looking back, Glanville said the whole ordeal was a reminder that not every online trend is worth trying. “I was just trying to clear my sinuses. It’s online. Don’t listen to people online or TikTok or Instagram or Twitter or Facebook,” she said

The urgent care visit is just the latest setback in what has already been a long and exhausting health journey for Brandi Glanville.
Over the past few years, the former Bravo star has been vocal about dealing with serious medical problems that she says have affected nearly every part of her life.
One of the biggest battles involved a severe facial condition that she initially believed was caused by parasites she contracted while filming “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Ex-Wives Club 2” in Morocco in 2023.
According to the 53-year-old, the infection led to major facial swelling and disfigurement, forcing her to seek answers from specialist after specialist.
Glanville said she spent about $200,000 trying to understand what was happening and to repair the damage.
“I went to 21 doctors and I’m telling you, $200,000 … the people at my insurance … let’s just say sucks,” she said on the “I Do Part 2” podcast per the Daily Mail.
Glanville explained that she consulted nearly every type of specialist possible, including infectious disease experts and rheumatologists, in search of answers.

Earlier this year, Glanville learned that another hidden issue may have been making her health crisis even worse.
The former model underwent surgery in early February with Dr. Ariel Ourian to remove and replace her ruptured breast implants, which she had reportedly had for about 18 years.
According to Glanville, doctors discovered that the leaking implants had caused silicone to spread into her lymph nodes, which may have been blocking her body’s ability to heal.
Speaking about the situation, Glanville revealed the issue was far more serious than she first realized. She explained that she definitely had a parasite, but said her implants were also completely ruptured and had left her with silicone in her lymph nodes.
She later revealed that a technician explained the connection between the implants and her facial swelling. “Whatever’s going on in your face, it can’t drain because your lymph nodes are clogged with silicone,” she recalled being told per The Blast.
For Glanville, the surgery was not just cosmetic, it was necessary. “It’s something that I could die from if I hadn’t figured it out,” she said. Though she now says she feels much better after the procedure, she still believes the parasite issue also played a major role in her ongoing symptoms.

Beyond the physical pain, Brandi Glanville says her health battle has deeply affected her confidence, relationships, and career.
She has been open about how emotionally difficult the past few years have been, especially while trying to deal with public scrutiny.
On the “I Do Part 2” podcast, Glanville admitted that the constant health issues left her feeling like her life had been turned upside down.
“I haven’t had sex in three years. The whole time I’ve been sick because I’ve lost my confidence,” she shared. The reality TV star said the fallout stretched far beyond just her appearance.
In her words, “And I felt like I lost everything at once in a weird way. Like I lost my job, I lost my reputation, I lost my looks.”

Glanville recently sparked reactions after weighing in on LeAnn Rimes’ viral jaw massage video, and she clearly wasn’t impressed.
Reacting on the April 3 episode of her “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered” podcast, the TV personality said she was confused by Rimes’ decision to share such a raw moment online.
“I don’t understand why I saw it,” Glanville said per The Blast, explaining that she had undergone the same deep jaw release treatment “a million times” because of her TMJ.
She added that while the procedure was painful, “it’s just not that big of a deal.”
When co-host James Maas pointed out that Rimes had been openly documenting her health journey, Glanville fired back with a pointed remark, “Oh, like me. So weird.” She then added, “I just don’t know why you share that.”
They say that good things come to those who wait and tonight, during Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon’s opening evening, those lucky folks in attendance got a first look at the long-awaited animated project Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. By the time the feature finally bows into cinemas next June, it will have been a long and unforgiving four-year wait since the second installment in the ongoing franchise, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, first wowed and dazzled audiences in 2023. Tonight, the studio was kind enough to show off a bit of what they’ve got cooking in the Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld-led movie that will finally sort out the cliffhanger we’ve been waiting years to unfold.
Beyond the Spider-Verse scribes and longtime creative partners Chris Miller and Phil Lord stepped onto the center stage tonight with helmers Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson to share a sneak peek of the very beginning of the new movie. Welcoming audiences to the “final chapter of Miles’ story,” the clip kicked off, picking up exactly where we last saw Miles — alone and confused. Still reeling from the fact that there’s no Spider-Man in existence in this parallel universe, he comes face-to-face with Uncle Aaron, who simply doesn’t have the time. Things go from bad to worse when Miles is approached by his own alternate version — the super villain known as The Prowler. After some friendly banter, our hero Miles Morales pleads for the evil duo’s help to stop his father’s death from happening. After the chat doesn’t work, Miles uses his powers to break out of his confines, and we’re thrown into the dazzling animated world that we’ve come to know and love — filled with familiar faces, including Spider-Gwen (Steinfeld), Spider Ham (John Mulaney) and even Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson).
Many of your favorites will be back in action for what’s being billed as the final chapter in the Spider-Verse story. For starters, Brian Tyree Henry will return to lend his vocal talents to the character of Jefferson Morales, aka Miles’ father, who is in deep trouble at the start of the new movie. There’s also Lauren Vélez (Dexter), Issa Rae (Insecure), Karan Soni (Deadpool), Nicolas Cage (The Wicker Man), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Liev Schreiber (Scream), Greta Lee (The Morning Show) and more.
The film finally arrives in theaters on June 18, 2027. Stay tuned for more to come from CinemaCon.

Kim Kardashian‘s empathy is being put to the test!
The reality star is now getting pressured by the man who sued her to reconsider her plea that he foots the six-figure legal bills accrued during their court case.
Kim Kardashian got into trouble with Ivan Cantu when she mistakenly used his picture while advocating for a Texas death row inmate with a similar name.

Ivan, who lost his lawsuit against the business mogul, is urging the judge to find a way to let him off from paying any legal fees in the case in response to Kim’s latest filing. Ivan’s petition that Kim misidentified him in an Instagram post in 2024, thereby causing him significant emotional distress, was thrashed by the judge.
A judge ruled that the mother-of-four’s advocacy fell under constitutionally protected free speech, adding that Ivan failed to prove tangible damages directly stemming from Kim’s brief, unintentional error. In the post, Kim was suing for the case of a man put on death row to be put on hold and had mistakenly used Ivan’s picture, although she immediately deleted it after the discovery, with her lawyer stating that it was a simple mistake.
Following Kim’s victory, she asked that Ivan pay $145,000 in legal fees and costs, to which Ivan insists that Kim was the one who made the mistake and not him, hence he should not be held responsible. As noted by TMZ, Ivan argued that since Kim was born and raised in luxury, with an enviable net worth of $1.9 billion and a thriving career alongside millions of social media followers to back it up, she could afford it.

Ivan added that while Kim has shared some notable posts on her social media for a great cause like freeing innocent inmates, asking for higher, better pay for service workers, and the like, she still gets income from sponsored posts.
Ivan continued that aside from the fact that he is miles outside Kim’s tax bracket and financial level, he also has to take care of his two daughters, making it more difficult to take up such an emergency six-figure emergency. Ivan noted that the SKIMS founder would survive if $145,000 left in her bank account, but forcing him to pay such an amount would financially ruin him.
Ivan, who is a New York-based project manager, had no criminal record, unlike Ivan “Abner” Cantu, the Texas inmate facing execution. The Texas inmate was unfortunately executed on February 28, 2024, despite the public campaign to delay the sentence.

The Hulu star established her face and name in stardom years ago, becoming a camera darling and the most sought-after for fashion houses in Hollywood. However, she hit the switch in 2018 with the story of Alice Marie and her subsequent efforts to get her out of prison, going as far as sitting directly across from President Donald Trump to plead her case and then winning.
She bumped things up a notch by pivoting into law to fill her late father, Robert Kardashian’s, big shoes, taking the baby bar exam for the first time in 2020, and finally passing after her fourth attempt in 2021. Kim has also visited prisons, met with inmates, and heard their stories while asking for second chances.
Kim also began working with an initiative focused on reducing the rate of incarceration known as #Cut50 and learned from accomplished attorneys Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney. Since passing her baby bar exams in 2021, she has completed her six-year apprenticeship in May 2025. However, she failed the official California State Bar Exam, according to a new post she shared in November 2025.

Kim showed what stuff she was made of during the Pacific Palisades last January when she witnessed inmates work front-line to rescue victims and put the fire out for good. As shared by The Blast, she tagged Governor Newsom on her Instagram, suggesting that reviewing these wages and eventually raising them would be a positive development for the incarcerated people.
The reality star stated that the inmates worked for hours under uncomfortable weather conditions to earn almost a paltry $1 every hour, which was nothing compared to the impact of the disaster, which left dozens homeless in its wake.
About 1000 inmates assisted in curbing the wildfire, which burned over 40,000 acres and killed 16 people. Kim also recently lent her voice to a new bill introduced by Senator Cory Booker in March to advance further the cause of incarcerated firefighters earning minimum wage through amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

In her response to her ex’s claims that she and her mother, Kris Jenner, were under a federal investigation, the SKIMS founder claimed that his careless allegations could jeopardize her journey. As reported by The Blast, Kim emphasized in the filing that, according to the California State Bar, before she becomes an attorney, her moral character must be thoroughly examined, and this includes looking into allegations of criminal misconduct or dishonesty.
She registered her concerns that her failure to promptly address Ray J’s stories before the California State Bar and everyone involved in her evaluation may come with dire consequences. The rapper, however, stated that for any of his allegations to have any effect on Kim’s career, she would first have to pass the bar exam, which she failed last year. According to him:
“Regardless, it is unclear why vague, third-party allegations from [an interview] and a Twitch stream could ever ‘jeopardize’ her legal career. It would be the underlying wrongful conduct, none of which Kim and Kris have denied.”
Will Kim Kardashian heed Ivan Cantu’s pleas?

The “Hostel” director returns with plenty of gore in his new film featuring music from Snoop Dogg.
Season 6 of Emily in Paris will show Emily’s reunion with Gabriel — but the titular character will still have “a lot” of options in her personal life.
Lily Collins weighed in on how season 6 of the hit Netflix series will address Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) postcard to Emily, exclusively telling Us Weekly at PaleyFest, “Does she get the postcard? I don’t know. Maybe she does. Maybe she doesn’t. I know we end up in Greece but I haven’t read anything. Things get lost in the mail.”
Collins, 37, made it clear that she wasn’t choosing sides. “I’m happy when Emily’s happy,” she gushed. “I love Emily and Mindy.”
Creator Darren Star, meanwhile, confirmed that Gabriel’s postcard to Emily where he mentioned Greece opened the door for more surprises, saying, “We’re going to be in Mykonos. And we will get to Monaco for a bit of a surprising reason. We’ll be in Paris a lot this season.”
Star, 64, also showed support for Emily and Gabriel’s long-awaited reunion.
“They deserve each other. I hope so,” he teased. “But I can’t promise. … She’s got a lot of options out there — and some possible new options too.”

Emily in Paris centers around Emily Cooper after her move to France from the U.S. for a new job. Emily subsequently ended up caught in a love triangle between Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
Emily then moved on with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), but by the end of season 4, Gabriel realized that he wanted to fight for her. Emily, however, had moved to Rome and started her future with Marcello.
Season 5 took Emily and her friends back to Paris with a stop in Venice in the finale. In the last scene, however, viewers checked in with Gabriel, who was working on a boat that was about to dock in Greece, which paved the way for him to invite Emily to visit him.
“All we know is that we’re going to Greece and Monaco,” Bravo, 38, told Us on Friday. “We have no script. I have no idea. I do want them to be happy and in love because they’ve been working on it for six or seven years now.”
He continued: “I hope it happens. I think some people want that, but whoever Emily ends up with will be the perfect choice because she knows better.”
Bravo also weighed in on Bryan Greenberg making an appearance in season 5 as Emily’s love interest Jake, adding, “I love Jake — that’s an actor I’ve been I love for a long time. Seeing him joining the Emily in Paris family was huge. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet him on set but I hope he makes a comeback in season 6.”
Emily in Paris is currently streaming on Netflix.
