An elderly man in Maryland has been arrested after he allegedly confessed to his pastor that he killed his roommate following an argument over an electrical outlet.

Irwin Joseph Dickstein was taken into custody on Sunday, September 20, and was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder in the death of his roommate, Michael Roy Bushnell.

The Frederick Police Department announced in a press release that they became aware of the case on September 20 when deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office contacted police after they received a tip regarding a possible murder.

“Dickstein had reportedly told a witness that he shot his roommate,” the release stated. “Dickstein also provided the location where the incident allegedly occurred.”

Officers then responded to the address to conduct a welfare check.

Upon their arrival, police found that the residence was not secured and they entered the home. They found Bushnell, 63, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dickstein, 87, was later found at another location, and authorities took him into custody without incident.

According to an affidavit viewed by WJLA, the roommates experienced several disputes over electrical work at their shared home. Bushnell reportedly told a neighbor that Dickstein was upset with him after he turned off the power while trying to repair an outlet.

The neighbor spoke to investigators and said that he heard the two men arguing before several loud bangs came from the home around 5:30 a.m.

Dickstein went to Frederick Christian Fellowship Church later that morning, where he allegedly told a pastor that he had killed someone. The pastor then contacted police around 10:30 a.m. and he called authorities to report the murder.

Following his arrest, Dickstein allegedly admitted to the murder while speaking to detectives. He identified Bushnell as the victim and confirmed he was inside the Franklin Street residence at the time of the shooting. Following the admission, Dickstein refused to speak any further without a lawyer.

Dickstein was driven to the church by a man, who also spoke to detectives about the incident. The man said Dickstein told him he needed to talk to a pastor, and he saw the defendant leave what appeared to be a firearm in the trunk of his vehicle.

Following the tip, police obtained a search warrant and recovered a Beretta handgun inside the case in his vehicle.

Dickstein is currently being held in the Frederick County Jail without bond. It is not currently clear if he has entered a plea, and he’s been assigned a county public defender.

He will next appear in court on October 13 for a hearing to determine his competency.

Drama is brewing within the MomTok community and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast as the Hulu reality show undergoes a major shakeup.

“It is a mess between the girls behind the scenes, and everyone has really turned their backs against Taylor Frankie Paul,” a source exclusively shares with Us. “Taylor has not been in a good place mentally and does not have many people who are supporting her publicly, which is hard.”

Although Jessi Draper has publicly supported her costar and friend, the insider says “almost all of the girls agree that Taylor is a ticking time bomb and ultimately can’t trust her.”

“They are over her,” the source explains, “and don’t want to deal with it anymore.”

Although Hulu has not confirmed any casting decisions for upcoming seasons, Mikayla Mathews previously announced that she would not be returning to the reality show and said she would be donating the money she would have earned for the rest of season 6 to the National Children’s Alliance.

According to a source, many of the girls, including Layla Taylor and Mayci Neeley, are unsure if they will continue for future seasons.

“Everything is up in the air,” the source shares. “It is renewed, but producers are very unclear about how the show will proceed.”

On Monday, September 21, Taylor, 32, seemingly confirmed her exit from the show in a social media post.

My question has been how much suffering and scrutiny is going to be enough…I’m just relieved to be out.”

While one source says it was a decision made by the network that Taylor agreed “was for the best,” another insider denies producers pushed the reality star out.

As the second insider shares, “Everyone wants what is best for Taylor and her health.”

In a lengthy Instagram post, the band wrote, “On the morning of September 20th, Chad Everett Gilbert passed away peacefully in his sleep. He left this world surrounded by friends and family and took his final breaths with his wife and mother by his side, just as he wished. We are devastated and shocked by how quickly he left us, yet so grateful for how peacefully and smoothly he went.”

Yesterday was Hobbit Day, and fans of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s work had plenty to celebrate on the momentous holiday. The Lord of the Rings is full of life more than ever at the moment, across television, the silver screen, and beyond. In less than two months, Prime Video’s prequel series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, will return with the first four episodes of its third season on November 11, bringing war to Mordor once more and introducing Jamie Campbell Bower to Middle-earth as Celeborn. Former The Late Show host and Tolkien superfan Stephen Colbert is also preparing his own cinematic journey into Mordor in collaboration with Philippa Boyens and Peter McGee, covering the eighth chapter in The Fellowship of the Ring, Fog on the Barrow-downs. There’s even a new Middle-earth-set game from Kingdom Come developers Warhorse Studios in early development.

However, most eyes are set on the horizon of December 17, 2027, when The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum will ride into theaters. Production began in the franchise’s picturesque longtime home of New Zealand back in July with director and star Andy Serkis seamlessly slipping back into the rasping tones of the titular wretched creature. Set between Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit and original Lord of the Rings trilogy, it explores the perspective of Gollum, as Gandalf, played by a returning Ian McKellen, sends the ranger Strider, aka Aragorn, now embodied by Jamie Dornan, out in search of the creature to stop him before he can reveal the ring’s location to Sauron’s forces. A lot of buzz has surrounded the return of many of Jackson’s original stars, and now, Warner Bros. is puilling back the curtain on the effort to bring Middle-earth back to life.

In accordance with Hobbit Day, the studio unveiled a collection of set photos from The Hunt for Gollum on its official TikTok page. Included among the set is a first look at Elijah Wood‘s return to The Shire as Frodo Baggins, though he’s only shown from behind. That’s probably intentional, given much of the cast will use de-aging technology to appear as they did in the original, but he does look accurate for what is shown of him. Otherwise, the rest of the images are a nostalgic look at the idyllic Shire, showing off the gorgeous, green-laden landscape and actors dressed once more for Middle-earth, while Serkis mans the camera.

Kanye West is asking a judge to postpone his upcoming civil trial, pointing to unfinished legal preparation, planned concerts in Russia, and Milo Yiannopoulos‘ deportation from the United States. The rapper, who legally changed his name to Ye, is currently scheduled to face trial on October 12 in a discrimination lawsuit filed by former Donda Academy security guard Benjamin Provo. Ye wants the proceedings moved to May 17, 2027, or another date that works for the court and both parties. The judge has not yet approved the requested delay.

According to TMZ, Ye’s attorneys filed court documents last week detailing why they believe the October trial should be postponed. The legal team claims significant preparation remains unfinished because Provo and his attorney have not been cooperative during depositions and the document discovery process.

Ye’s lawyers further allege that Provo’s side has repeatedly delayed pretrial matters, leaving too much work to complete before the current start date.

In addition to requesting a continuance, Ye is seeking sanctions against Provo and his lawyer. Sanctions can include financial penalties or other court-ordered consequences, but Ye must first persuade the judge that the opposing side violated discovery rules or otherwise interfered with the case.

The filing does not automatically change the trial date. Unless the judge grants the motion, the October 12 date remains in place.

Benjamin Provo Accuses Ye Of Workplace Discrimination

Provo filed his lawsuit in April 2024 after working as a security guard at Donda Academy and other facilities connected to Ye. According to the complaint, Provo began working for Ye’s organization in August 2021. He alleges that Ye and members of the rapper’s management team treated Black employees less favorably than their White colleagues.

Provo further claims that his pay was reduced after he raised concerns about wage disparities. He also alleges that Ye demanded that he cut his dreadlocks despite the hairstyle being connected to his Muslim faith. The former security guard claims he was ultimately fired after refusing to remove his dreadlocks.

More recent court documents reportedly show Provo seeking approximately $23 million in damages. Ye has argued that Provo was employed by a third-party company rather than directly by him, according to TMZ.

Ye’s Reported Russia Concerts Face Venue Uncertainty

Ye is also arguing that the October 12 trial date conflicts with his performance schedule. The rapper says he is expected to travel to Russia for concerts planned for October 10 and 11, placing the performances immediately before the trial is scheduled to begin. However, the status of the shows remains unclear.

St. Petersburg’s Gazprom Arena was initially announced as the venue, but the stadium later said it would not host Ye on those dates. The venue also maintained that it had not signed a rental agreement for the concerts.

Moscow-based promoter Say Agency disputed the suggestion that the performances had been canceled and claimed the arena had initially approved the events. The promoter indicated it was searching for another venue, but no replacement location had been publicly confirmed.

Milo Yiannopoulos’ Deportation Is Raised In The Motion

Yiannopoulos’ immigration situation has also become part of Ye’s request for additional time. Ye’s attorneys identified his former chief of staff as one of the people most knowledgeable about the allegations in Provo’s lawsuit. The filing notes that Immigration and Customs Enforcement “very recently and very publicly deported” him.

Yiannopoulos was detained at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in August before being returned to the United Kingdom. The Department of Homeland Security said Yiannopoulos entered the United States legally in May 2019 but remained in the country beyond his authorized stay.

An immigration judge issued a final removal order on July 22 after he failed to attend an immigration hearing, according to DHS. Yiannopoulos was arrested the following month and deported one day later.

Yiannopoulos had previously claimed he was living in the United States under an O-1 nonimmigrant visa. That classification is generally available to people who demonstrate extraordinary ability or achievement in fields including business, education, science, athletics and the arts.

His return to the United Kingdom could complicate deposition scheduling, communication with attorneys, or an eventual trial appearance. However, the court will decide whether his location creates a serious enough obstacle to justify postponing the case for approximately seven months.

Ye Reportedly Distanced Himself From His Former Chief Of Staff

The trial motion comes amid reports that Ye’s relationship with Yiannopoulos has deteriorated. Yiannopoulos previously occupied a powerful position in Ye’s organization as his chief of staff. He was also involved in the rapper’s political activities and occasionally handled media requests.

Following the deportation, a source claimed Ye “does not want to be involved with Milo anymore.” The insider also alleged that Ye asked Yiannopoulos to move out of one of his properties.

The reported breakdown emerged as Ye prepared for a performance at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. According to the source, the rapper had “no idea why Milo was coming to the concert.”

The insider further alleged that Yiannopoulos had not been trusted within Ye’s circle for some time. Yiannopoulos reportedly described himself as Ye’s publicist, although the title was allegedly never formally given to him.

The judge must now determine whether the remaining discovery work, Ye’s proposed Russia performances, and Yiannopoulos’ deportation justify moving the trial to May 17, 2027. The court will also rule separately on Ye’s request for sanctions against Provo and his attorney.

George Floyd‘s family is reportedly asking for answers regarding the millions of dollars raised by his GoFundMe Memorial campaign. Floyd was murdered by the police in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 25, 2020, and millions of dollars were raised through the platform afterward.

George Floyd’s Family Wants Answers About GoFundMe Millions

Three of Floyd’s family members — Zsazsa, LaTonya, and Rodney Floyd — are asking for an accounting of millions of dollars raised on the platform, according to a letter obtained by TMZ. The letter was reportedly dated Tuesday, August 11, and it notes that approximately $19 million was donated to the GoFundMe.

Rodney, Zsazsa, and LaTonya are asking their brother, Philonise Floyd, for an account of the donations.

“We want to see the records,” the letter states. “Understand how decisions were made, and make sure the family’s questions are answered. We’re speaking up because transparency matters.”

Siblings Claim They Haven’t Received Their Fair Share

The siblings claimed that they’ve repeatedly asked for the GoFundMe records. Not only that, but they also said they requested documentation about how the funds were distributed. They say they haven’t received their fair share of the millions.

Subsequently, Philonise has 20 days from the date of receipt of the letter to provide documentation. However, the family’s attorney said that she hoped the request could be handled amicably.

Ben Crump Also Contacted Over Funds

According to PEOPLE, the GoFundMe is run by Adner Marcelin of Ben Crump Law. The donations were reportedly the most funds ever raised on the platform.

The family reportedly told TMZ that, in addition to contacting their brother, they’ve also contacted Crump. However, they said they haven’t heard back yet. A separate GoFundMe for Floyd’s daughter Gianna raised more than $2 million.
