Staffordshire Police are investigating after a woman was left ‘shaken’ when a man allegedly threatened to ‘punch her in the face’ during a furious row

Police are investigating a heated altercation at a Midlands B&M store following allegations that a dog was left inside a vehicle in temperatures exceeding 30C.

Striking footage captured the confrontation at the discount retailer’s Lichfield branch at Imperial Retail Park, near Eastern Avenue, during the red alert heatwave on Wednesday, June 24.

A woman in her 30s, who claimed she had removed the dog from the car, was reportedly left “shaken” following a confrontation with a man — believed to be the dog’s owner — who was heard threatening to punch her in the face.

The man “reportedly became aggressive and abusive”, according to Staffordshire Police.

During the altercation, he was heard repeatedly shouting “give me my dog” after another shopper alleged he had “committed a crime”, reports Birmingham Live.

The woman was heard stating she had “liberated” the dog after allegedly discovering it inside “a van in 34C heat”.

The man responded, insisting: “I haven’t committed any crime. The window was open.”

He was also heard saying: “Give me my dog or I’ll lose my s***. Give me my dog you weirdo before I punch you in the face.”

Staffordshire Police has now launched a formal investigation into the incident.

A force spokesperson told BirminghamLive: “We’re appealing for information after a woman was verbally abused after taking action to help a dog allegedly left in a hot car.

“The victim, a woman in her 30s, had spotted the dog in a car on the car park of Imperial Retail Park, Lichfield, at around lunchtime on Wednesday.

“She took the dog into a nearby store which was air-conditioned, before alerting staff.

“The owner of the dog then reportedly became aggressive and abusive.”

The force stated officers were summoned to the shop at approximately 1pm.

It continued: “We spoke to the victim and staff members before reviewing CCTV footage from the store at the time.

“The woman was left shaken but unhurt.

“We’re keen to speak to anybody who saw what happened or anyone who may have relevant dash-cam footage.

“RSPCA advisc is that, even if dogs are left in cars parked in the shade with windows open, the interior temperature of the vehicle can reach up to 47C within an hour, even if the weather is only 22C outside.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the force by calling 101 and quoting log number 455 of June 24.

Bill Gates is facing fresh humiliation as billionaire investor Warren Buffett is reportedly pausing his yearly donation to the Gates Foundation over Jeffrey Epstein. 

Buffett, 95, has given a midyear donation to the Gates Foundation worth billions of dollars in stock for his corporation Berkshire Hathaway for over two decades, intended to be a ‘lifetime’ pledge to the charity. 

But the financial legend is set to pause the gift this year so he can wait to see the result of an internal review into the foundation’s ties to Epstein, according to the Wall Street Journal. 

The review will be carried out by the law firm WilmerHale, which was retained by the Gates Foundation to probe the links. It is expected to share its findings in the summer. 

Sources told the Journal that Buffett is delaying his decision over whether to continue his regular donation to the Gates Foundation until that time, and likely until he publishes his annual Thanksgiving letter to shareholders. 

The loss of the donation would be a major hit to the Gates Foundation’s bottom line, with Buffett having given around $48 billion to the foundation from 2006 to 2025.  The Gates Foundation is one of the world’s largest philanthropical organizations and aims to use its vast reserves of cash to fight poverty, disease and inequality. 

It comes after Gates was grilled over his links to Epstein by Congress earlier this month, where the Microsoft founder was forced to admit to several extramarital affairs in an excruciating hearing. 

Gates has frequently denied any wrongdoing related to his friendship with Epstein, but conceded that the sex trafficker used his knowledge of the affairs to try to blackmail him into continuing their relationship after Gates cut him off in 2014. 

Buffett has gifted the Gates Foundation around $48 billion over the last 20 years and joined as a trustee in 2006, but said he has not spoken to the Microsoft founder since the release of the Epstein Files 

The Daily Mail has contacted Buffett’s firm Berkshire Hathaway and the Gates Foundation for comment. 

According to sources speaking to the Journal, Buffett’s decision to pause his donations came after meeting with the Gates Foundation leadership, including CEO Mark Suzman. 

Buffet’s close relationship to the Gates Foundation began in 2006, when he donated roughly $1.5 billion in Berkshire Hathaway stock for the charity’s philanthropic efforts. 

At the time, Buffett said the donation was the start of a lifetime pledge to give away most of his fortune to charity over the rest of his career, with the lion’s share going to the Gates Foundation. 

The gift allowed the Gates Foundation to immediately double its charitable giving, with Buffett joining the foundation as a trustee. 

Buffett and Gates enjoyed a close friendship and business relationship for many years, with Gates also joining Berkshire Hathaway as a board member in 2004. 

Gates left the board in 2020, and Buffett then stepped down as a trustee of the Gates Foundation in 2021, when Gates and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates announced they were divorcing.

In March, Buffett admitted that the Epstein fallout had strained his friendship with Gates, saying he had not spoken to the Microsoft founder since the Epstein Files were released last December. 

Buffett told CNBC that he was looking out for his own reputation, as he didn’t ‘want to be in a position where I know things, to be called as a witness.’ 

‘I think until it gets cleared up, it doesn’t make sense to do a lot of talking,’ he said at the time.

Not to be left behind, the proud partners of Serena Williams and Aryna Sabalenka,  Alexis Ohanian and Georgios Frangulis, will undoubtedly be a part of this year’s HABs (husbands and boyfriends) brigade.

Notable absences include Morgan Riddle, who will not join the class of 2026 after she split from US tennis star Taylor Fritz earlier this year and swore off athletes entirely.

Cameron Norrie‘s fiancée, Louise Jacobi, is hailed as the British tennis star’s secret weapon and will undoubtedly return to Wimbledon to cheer him on this year. 

The Chicago-born textile designer has been in a relationship with Cameron since 2020, after they were introduced by mutual friends in the summer of 2019. 

Recalling their early conversations in an interview with The Standard, Louise said: ‘I remember him saying when we first met: “Oh, my dream would be to be in the top 10.”

‘Back then, I didn’t know it was going to transpire, and just watching his hard work pay off has been insane.’

Louise was in the stands in October 2021 when Johannesburg-born Cameron became the first Brit to win the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, as one friend previously described her as the ‘wind beneath his racket’.

Now a seasoned WAG, Louise reflected on the title in an interview with Tatler as she said:  ‘I still remember the first time… I’d just started dating Cam and somebody was like, “What’s it like to be a WAG?”

‘I was like, oh my god, I never thought about that… I think it’s kind of ridiculous but I guess… that is what I am.’

The English graduate, who hails from Illinois, has no issue with the label, saying that she has always ’embraced’ becoming a WAG.

‘I’ve worked tirelessly to try to turn around the connotations – having that title [WAG] shouldn’t mean that we’re any less than because we choose to support our partners,’ she added.

However, Cameron’s glamorous partner admitted being a WAG makes it ‘impossible’ to have a career due to difficulties planning ahead. 

For now, Louise is set to be a permanent fixture courtside after Cameron asked her to marry him during a romantic getaway in South Africa last November.

Wedding receptions can go a little awry if you’re not careful. Down the years they’ve been known to be derailed by drunk bridesmaids, dodgy DJs, shocking speeches and poorly thought-out seating plans. This Wisconsin ceremony, however, takes the (wedding) cake.

A wedding held recently in Milwaukee reportedly descended into utter chaos and gunfire after a row that prosecutors say began because a groomsman started sloppily eating meatballs with his hands.

Don’t worry – you read that right. No need to re-read it.

Police are now searching for 41-year-old Thomas Redrick Williams, who is accused of shooting and injuring two people during an altercation at the reception before fleeing the scene.

He is wanted on suspicion of reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and bail jumping, Daily Mail reports.

The incident happened on June 20 at the Aria Business Center in Milwaukee, where officers arrived to find a man and a woman with gunshot wounds.

According to a criminal complaint that was lodged on that evening, the confrontation started in the kitchen when the bride’s cousin allegedly spotted Williams helping himself to meatballs with his hands and told him he should use a plate and cutlery instead.

Using your hands to eat meatballs isn’t generally considered a criminal offence but what prosecutors allege happened next certainly is.

Police say the exchange quickly escalated, with the woman telling officers that Williams punched her after she challenged him.

Her brother-in-law stepped in as the argument became physical.

Prosecutors say that Williams then pulled out a gun and opened fire. The woman was shot in the arm and leg, while the man was hit in the back of the neck. Both survived after being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The bride allegedly witnessed the shooting before following Williams outside as he tried to leave, confronting him beside his car and grabbing his key fob in an attempt to stop him driving away.

It apparently worked, at least partly, as Williams allegedly abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot instead.

Police searched the vehicle, which is registered to Williams’ wife. Investigators say that they found a Taurus 9mm handgun.

His wife later told officers that the pair had attended the wedding together and that Williams dropped her at home before returning with her car.

Authorities say Williams was already out on bond in a separate case when the shooting happened and a warrant has since been issued for his arrest. As of Monday, jail records showed that he had not been taken into custody.

Footage broadcast by local station 12 News showed the visibly distressed bride outside the venue after the shooting, while neighbours were left stunned that a wedding celebration had ended in such a shocking demonstration of violence.

‘For a wedding to be shot up like that is ridiculous,’ local resident Robert told local TV news station WISN 12 News. ‘A wedding day is supposed to be something that two people have to care and love each other, and for someone to disrupt that is disrupting a family.’

Despite the fierce national rivalry, the research, commissioned by Tesco Mobile, discovered that fans still crave sharing those landmark moments with their nearest and dearest. A whopping 78% immediately reach for their phone following a pivotal moment, whether it’s a last-minute goal or a contentious red card.

Furthermore, 82% said being able to effortlessly get in touch with friends and family makes them feel more connected during major sporting occasions, even when watching from different locations.

For 13% tuning into this summer’s tournament from abroad – either in the stadium or while on holiday – staying connected overseas is also a pressing concern.

Despite claiming victory over Haiti, losses to Brazil and Africa Cup of Nations champions Morocco resulted in the Scots’ elimination from the competition.

Archaeologists have uncovered ruins in Israel that they believe may be the original home of the Ark of the Covenant, a sacred, gold-covered chest described in the Bible.

According to scripture, Moses placed the Ten Commandments inside the Ark, which was kept in the Tabernacle, a sanctuary built shortly after the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt, traditionally dated by some scholars to around 1445 BC.

The fate of the Ark remains a mystery, as it vanishes from the biblical record before the Babylonian sack of Jerusalem in 586 BC.

Now, archaeologists with the Associates for Biblical Research (ABR) working at biblical Shiloh, the ancient city in the West Bank where scripture says the Tabernacle stood for more than 300 years, have made new discoveries that they say strengthen their theory.

The team uncovered additional walls belonging to a massive structure that may have formed part of the Tabernacle, along with worship-related artifacts and newly identified fortifications.

Dr Scott Stripling, director of the Tel Shiloh excavation, said the latest discoveries are helping researchers reconstruct the full dimensions of the monumental building and better understand its purpose.

The most significant breakthrough came with the discovery of the structure’s southern wall.

The building is oriented east to west and has proportions similar to those described for the biblical Tabernacle, the portable sanctuary built by the Israelites after the Exodus from Egypt.

Last year, Stripling’s team announced they had uncovered a monumental building from the Iron I period whose dimensions appeared to align with the biblical description of the Tabernacle.

The latest findings do not prove that identification, but archaeologists said they strengthen the case.

‘The discovery of the southern wall now enables our researchers to reconstruct the full dimensions of the building and better evaluate its function and significance,’ Stripling said in a blog post on the Bible Archaeology Report.

Adding to the mystery, excavators have also unearthed numerous objects associated with worship activities in and around the structure, including altar horns, ceramic pomegranates and murex shells.

The shells are particularly intriguing because they were used to produce the blue dye associated with priestly garments described in the Bible.

The discoveries build on previous finds at Shiloh, where researchers uncovered more than 100,000 animal bones, predominantly from sheep, goats and cattle. 

Many of the bones came from the right side of the animals, a detail that mirrors Leviticus 7, which states that portions from the right side were reserved for priestly offerings.

Shiloh occupies a central place in biblical history. Located about 19 miles north of Jerusalem, the city is described in the Book of Joshua as the place where the Israelites established the Tabernacle after conquering the Promised Land.

It was there that Joshua divided the land among the tribes of Israel. It was also the home of Eli, the high priest, and the place where the prophet Samuel was raised.

The Bible portrays Shiloh as Israel’s first religious and political capital.

In 1 Samuel 4, the Israelites bring the Ark of the Covenant from Shiloh to the battlefield during a war with the Philistines, hoping it will guarantee victory.

Instead, the Ark is captured, and Eli’s sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are killed.

When a messenger returns to Shiloh and tells the elderly priest that the Ark has been taken, Eli falls backward from his seat near the city gate, breaks his neck and dies.

This year, excavators also uncovered additional walls belonging to Shiloh’s northern fortification system.

The findings indicated the complex was built as a bent-axis gate and contained multiple rooms, providing new insight into the city’s defenses and urban planning.

The discoveries add weight to earlier suggestions by Stripling that his team may have identified the gate complex mentioned in the biblical account of Eli’s death.

Meanwhile, excavators working in another area of the site made a separate discovery that sheds light on Shiloh’s earliest history.

The team uncovered three large Canaanite storage jars dating to the period before the arrival of the Israelites.

The jars contained charred remains of common food staples, including olives, wheat and lentils.

Archaeologists plan to conduct radiocarbon testing on the contents to establish a more precise date for the destruction layer associated with the finds.

‘These discoveries provide an important window into the earliest occupational phases of Shiloh and help us better understand the site’s history before the Israelite settlement,’ Stripling said.

Despite the excitement surrounding the discoveries, archaeologists cautioned that they have not found the Ark of the Covenant itself, nor have they definitively proven that the monumental structure is the Tabernacle.

Instead, the latest excavation season has provided new evidence that appears to align with the biblical narrative.

“All the academy have to wear the same boots. They do it because there’s people from areas where they can’t afford certain boots so I think it’s really good. But he’s played for the U18s a few times and he can then wear his Puma boots. He’s doing well to be fair to him.”

The starlet featured six times for the U18s last season as he made his debut at the age group when he was 15 in a 1-0 win against Everton last August.
