Kelsey Mitchell, Caitlin Clark help Fever rally to beat Liberty

INDIANAPOLIS — Kelsey Mitchell had 33 points on 10-of-14 shooting, Caitlin Clark added 17 points, and the Indiana Fever beat the New York Liberty 108-88 on Saturday night.

Mitchell, who scored 30 Friday night in a 110-107 win over Seattle, has back-to-back 30-point games for the first time in her career and has scored at least 20 points in 10 consecutive games.

Clark was coming off a franchise-record 45 points and 10 assists against Seattle, the first game of 40-plus points and at least 10-plus assists in WNBA history.

The Fever, who trailed by 13, used a 13-3 run late in the second quarter to cut their deficit to 49-45 at halftime. Clark converted a three-point play that gave Indiana its first lead of the game at 50-49 early in the third quarter. The Liberty committed nine of their 15 turnovers as they were outscored 28-12 in the third.

The Liberty (13-12) have lost four games in a row and six of seven overall and have dropped five straight on the road.

Breanna Stewart led New York with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Marine Johannes — who scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range, all in the first seven minutes — left the game early in the fourth quarter due to an ankle injury and did not return.

Clark was called for a technical foul in the opening moments after a no-call on a hard screen set by Jonquel Jones that knocked the All-Star guard to the ground.

Leonie Fiebich (foot) and Satou Sabally (concussion protocol) did not play for New York.

The Liberty beat Indiana 83-75 at home in the first of four matchups this season on June 6.

Liberty: Wrap up a five-game road trip Monday at Dallas.

Fever: Host Connecticut on Wednesday.

Orioles complete sweep of Astros for 7th straight win

Brandon Young twirled seven strong innings, Leody Taveras delivered a critical two-run, two-out single and the visiting Baltimore Orioles completed a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros with a 5-2 victory on Sunday.

The Orioles extended their season-best win streak to seven games and have won 10 of 13. Young (8-2) produced his eighth quality start, while Taveras struck the decisive blow of an opportunistic attack bolstered by a multi-hit game from Coby Mayo that featured his 13th homer.

Astros right-hander Hunter Brown (1-1) labored throughout his sixth start since his return from a two-plus-month stint on the injured list. Brown hit two batters, including the second batter of the game, Taylor Ward.

Brown stranded baserunners in the first and second innings before the Orioles took advantage of his benevolence in the third. Jackson Holliday worked a leadoff walk in that frame, and advanced into scoring position when Brown uncorked a wild pitch to Gunnar Henderson, who followed with an RBI single that gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead.

Later in the third, Pete Alonso walked and swiped second as part of a double steal that saw Henderson steal home for a 2-0 lead.

Brown walked Colton Cowser in the fourth and Ward with one out in the fifth. He hit Alonso with a pitch and walked Sam Huff to load the bases with two outs for Taveras, who roped a first-pitch changeup to left for a 4-1 cushion.

Brown allowed four runs on three hits and a career-high six walks over 4 2/3 innings. He has walked 15 batters over his last three starts.

Young surrendered back-to-back doubles to Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez with one out in the third, as Altuve scored to pull the Astros to within 2-1. Young responded by retiring nine consecutive batters and 14 of the final 16 he faced. He allowed one run on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Mayo homered off Astros reliever Bryan King leading off the sixth and finished 2-for-4.

Altuve popped his 12th homer leading off the eighth against Orioles reliever Rico Garcia.

Shedeur Sanders is preparing for the 2026 season in a big way. The Cleveland Browns quarterback had a photoshoot that involved a driveway filled with his No. 12 jersey.

Football X account Dov Kleiman posted a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot. NFL fans had quite the reaction.

A fan said, “He’s the Bronny James of football.”

Another added, “Browns though. Aura lost.”

One wrote, “Next level ego. This is how you prepare for the upcoming season?”

Some fans weren’t as dismissive.

Another added, “I dont get why everyone is mad at him for his confidence. That man believe in himself. Everyone should try to do the same thing.”

One chipped in, saying, “Greatest player to ever wear the Browns uniform? 🤔”

Dov Kleiman added that Shedeur Sanders is already one of the faces of football. It comes after the former Colorado Buffaloes star amassed a stat line of 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in eight games as a rookie.

Furthermore, it’s important to note that Sanders wore the No.12 jersey during the 2025 season. He’s now switched to his preferred No. 2 following the departure of DeAndre Carter. Both Sanders and the Browns have leaned into the number change in their offseason content creation.

Shedeur Sanders and Cleveland Browns aiming for bounce-back season

Shedeur Sanders has been a winning quarterback for the majority of his competitive career. Sanders excelled at high school and college. He ended his collegiate football career as the recipient of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award while placing eighth in Heisman Trophy voting.

Sanders was initially projected to be an early first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. However, he slipped into the Cleveland Browns‘ lap in the fifth round. He went on to appear in eight games as a rookie to mixed results.

Sanders is currently in a QB1 competition with former perennial Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson. Watson has way more experience, but he’s recovering from a serious Achilles injury. The quarterback duo has been locked in throughout the offseason.

Next up for Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns is an all-important 2026 campaign. Coach Prime’s son will look to guide the franchise to the playoffs for the first time since the 2023 season. He’ll have his work cut out under new coach Todd Monken and without franchise legend Myles Garrett, who’s been traded to the Los Angeles Rams.
