DeenTheGreat Arrested In Miami-Dade Following Alleged Yacht Incident On Stream
According to TMZ, Deen, whose real name is Nurideen Shabazz, was booked Wednesday morning and is currently being processed at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.
Authorities say the alleged situation started after a woman named Destiny Aleman accused Deen of trying to take her phone after she was kicked off a yacht. The woman told police that Deen allegedly became upset after other men attempted to talk to her, despite him warning her not to entertain anyone else. She claimed that once she got off the yacht, Deen grabbed her arm and attempted to take her phone, leaving a minor scratch.
The alleged incident was also reportedly captured during a livestream. Police also say Ring camera footage from the yacht allegedly showed Deen yelling for someone to grab the woman’s phone while trying to stop her from recording as she attempted to get away. At this time, records show Deen was arrested on a felony attempted strong-arm robbery charge, with his bond still listed as “to be set.
Here’s What DeenTheGreat Was Doing Before His Arrest
Kicking off the week, DeenTheGreat was outside with Adrien Broner as the two linked up with rapper Sexyy Red. The trio appeared to have a good time together, with Sexyy even helping dye their hair red. Then, on Tuesday, Deen and AB later linked up with streamer Deshae Frost and rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine. The group rocked matching fits while enjoying a night out surrounded by women. Another intense moment from the night later went viral across social media after Deen appeared visibly upset upon finding out a girl allegedly lied about her age to be around them.

Comedian Josh Johnson’s Unexpected Stance On Empty Seats At Live Shows
Josh Johnson is making waves with an unexpected stance on his live comedy shows. “The Daily Show” host recently shared how he feels about secondary ticket markets and why he would rather perform to empty seats, and fans are praising him for his candid thoughts.
The comedian has been vocal about keeping his shows accessible and authentic, even if that means turning away from the typical sell every seat at any cost mindset. For Johnson, it’s less about packing the house and more about who’s in the seats.
His surprising take has sparked conversation online among fans, with everyone praising his approach as a refreshing pushback against industry norms that often prioritize profit over the audience experience.

During a recent chat with Vladimir Duthiers of CBS Mornings, Johnson shared his thoughts on resale ticket sites and why he would prefer to have empty seats than fans price gauged.
“I was someone who couldn’t afford tickets for a really long time,” he said. “It’s just really important to me that the show is as much of a spectacle as possible and as affordable as possible, because I want people that were in my situation to be able to see a show that I think is going to be really unique and really special.”
Johnson said he looks at the second market as the “capitalist manifesto” that “squeezes you for everything that you’re worth” versus what he’s trying to do – give fans a show that’s affordable.
He followed that up by explaining that he would prefer to add an additional show “than have people buy these insane tickets.”
“If there’s an empty seat there, that let’s me know that there’s something that I could be doing even better,” he continued. “I could be trying to get around the scalpers even better, and I think so many people in America have to choose between like affording their life and enjoying their life.”
Fans Of ‘The Daily Show’ Host Praised His Take On Secondary Ticket Markets

A clip of the interview was shared on TikTok and many fans dropped into the comment section to offer their thoughts on Johnson’s approach to selling tickets for his live comedy shows.
“He’s grounded in his values. I appreciate him looking out for others,” one viewer wrote. Another said, “I continue to be so impressed with this young man. I really enjoy his comedy and he seems like such a genuine person.”
One other viewer reiterated his thought, saying, “Affording vs Enjoying=most of us.”
Another viewer doubled down on the secondary sites and what they are doing, “Resale sites have ruined the live entertainment industry and drive up prices.”
Many of the other comments share how much fans appreciate his take and love that he’s sharing his thoughts on the matter.
Why Josh Johnson Feels He Could Never Be A Traditional News Reporter
Another segment from the interview was shared on TikTok and this one is all about why Johnson feels he’s not cut out to be a traditional news reporter.
After telling Duthiers that he’s “fascinated” by how he “delivers the news,” he shared why he thinks he could never do it that way.
“If I had your job, every day, I would look down the barrel of the camera like, y’all, it’s bad, oh it is bad,” he said with a terrified look on his face. “And I feel like that, I’m amazed that y’all can deliver the thing based on what’s happening but take yourselves out of it.”
He added that if he was doing Duthiers job, he would struggle with delivering the news with a straight face. Fans could totally relate to what Johnson was saying, but also said it’s typically Johnson who’s giving them the news.
“Funny enough Josh is how i get most of my news,” one person said. Another wrote, “Being a news anchor at this point in time I’d be worn out man.” And another shared, “I actually do need him to deliver the news now.”
Josh Johnson’s New Comedy Special ‘Symphony’ Released Last Week
Johnson recently stepped more into the spotlight with his recently released HBO Comedy special, “Symphony.” The special blends Johnson’s signature storytelling style with live musical elements, creating a performance that’s slightly different than what fans are used to.
He shared information about the special on his TikTok page. On Tuesday, he shared how the comedy special is doing so far.
“Symphony has climbed again and is now #4 on @HBO Max Friends!! Thank you to everyone who has watched and rewatched,” he wrote in the caption of his TikTok post. “Thank you for proving that you can release weekly stand up on YouTube and still have an audience for a larger scale special on a traditional/streaming platform.”
One fan wrote in the comment section, “Great show! Here’s to reaching #1.” Another added, “It is brilliant. I didn’t want it to end!! You are a bright star. Well done!” And one other said, “Watched this Saturday, and I was thoroughly impressed! So much to the point, where I plan on watching it again this week! Excellent job, and classy musical performance at the end!”

Prince Harry ‘Shocked’ After Royals Ignored Wedding Anniversary
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently marked their eighth wedding anniversary, with the Duchess of Sussex taking to Instagram to share never-before-seen images from their special day.
However, while friends and fans of the couple wished them a happy anniversary, they did not get a notice or shout-out from any member of the royal family.
Insiders now claim this move from the palace stunned Prince Harry and Meghan as their rift with the monarchy continues to grow.

On May 19, Harry and Meghan took a trip down memory lane as they celebrated their wedding anniversary on social media by releasing new images and videos from the special event.
But despite how huge the milestone was for the Montecito-based royals, their family members in the UK did not acknowledge their anniversary, completely snubbing the couple.
According to a royal source who spoke with InTouch, this decision left Harry and Meghan feeling disappointed, especially with King Charles in particular, whom they were allegedly hoping would use the opportunity to extend a public olive branch, amid the duke’s calls for reconciliation.
“In an ideal world, they would have gotten a public message from the king,” the insider told the news outlet. “They never would have expected anything from the Waleses, but they were hoping Charles might extend some sort of olive branch to signify to everyone that they are back in the fold.”
Charles is said to have been warming up to the idea of Harry and Meghan rejoining the royal family, but his latest move to ignore them seems to signal a change of heart toward the Sussexes.
“The fact that he not only ignored their big day publicly but also privately was a massive slap in the face,” the insider continued, noting that “it has left Harry completely shocked and depressed.”
The Snub From The Royal Family Reportedly Has Meghan Markle Questioning Their UK Return

It’s since been rumored that Harry and Meghan might make a major return to the UK this summer as the Duke of Sussex seeks to reconcile with the royal family.
However, the recent cold shoulder they received from senior royals on their wedding day is said to have left Meghan especially concerned about their trip due to how “awkward” things might end up being.
“He’s now got Meghan questioning him on just how awkward their trip to the U.K. will be,” a source told the news outlet. “She’s taking this as proof they aren’t wanted, and it’s got Harry wondering the same thing, which has just gutted him.”
While the Sussexes may be disappointed with the lack of a shout-out from the royal family, Prince William, on the other hand, is allegedly “thrilled” that Charles “swerved” the couple by ignoring them.
“He’s bragging that it’s a sign he’s one step closer to getting Harry booted,” the source added.
Prince Harry Signals Willingness To Rebuild Ties With King Charles

After Harry and Meghan’s recent successful trip to Australia, sources share that the couple felt deeply encouraged about their value and star power due to the positive reception they got from the public.
Now, there are stronger indications that Harry is open to rebuilding ties with his father, Charles.
According to The Express, sources claim Harry believes “the royals need him and Meghan flying the flag for the monarchy, especially with all the negativity they’ve endured from the Andrew scandal.”
The insider added: “He believes it’s time to embrace this new chapter together and he’s ready to sit down with his father and make that happen, hopefully in a couple of months when he next returns to the UK.”
During their time in Australia, the couple focused on issues such as mental health, community resilience, and support for veterans and their families. Meghan also attended a high-profile women’s retreat at InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, where attendees paid premium prices for access to the event.
Meghan has not properly returned to the UK since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have not visited since the Jubilee celebrations that same year.
Harry, however, is expected to travel to the UK in June ahead of the Invictus Games Birmingham countdown, and is likely to make the trip solo.
The Duke’s Hopes For Family Reunion Face Hurdles Amid Security And Royal Protocol Challenges

Looking ahead, Harry is also said to be hoping for a more personal reunion with the royal family, potentially bringing his children to see their grandfather at Sandringham Estate during the summer.
However, this is also in doubt, as Charles did not meet with the Sussexes during his recent visit to the United States.
Royal editor Emily Nash has pointed out that “however much the King may want to be reunited with his youngest son and his grandchildren,” practical barriers remain.
According to Hello! Magazine, she explained that any potential reunion in the UK is complicated by ongoing issues, including Harry’s security arrangements and his legal case against Associated Newspapers, which continue to complicate any potential reunion.
Nash added that the structure of the monarchy also plays a role. Even if the Sussexes were granted full-time security in the UK, their position outside official royal duties “could prove to be a headache the King doesn’t need right now.”
Prince William Reportedly Maintains Distance From Prince Harry Amid Ongoing Rift And Trust Concerns

Meanwhile, Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William, appears to remain strained. Reports suggest that attempts to reconnect have been met with a “wall of silence,” with little communication between the two since 2022.
Commentators describe William’s approach as deliberate, with British broadcaster Helena Chard telling Fox News Digital that it has become more of a “permanent Royal reset” in how he handles the relationship as he “regards his brother as totally untrustworthy.”
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has also suggested that issues of trust remain central to the divide, while Roya Nikkhah noted that William is known to remember where loyalties lie.
As he prepares for his future role, William is believed to be focused on stability and preserving the structure of the monarchy.
While some have described his stance as firm or even “ruthless,” others view it as a reflection of his commitment to accountability and the long-term direction of the institution.

10 Forgotten Crime Shows That Are Still 10/10 Masterpieces
Crime shows are a dime a dozen. At any given time, you can turn on the TV and find one on linear network TV during the primetime hours or via streaming. From the classics to new ones, you have your pick of the litter. This is also precisely why some of the best crime shows from decades past have been totally forgotten.
These crime shows weren’t just great when they originally aired or streamed, however. They are still worth watching today. Whether it’s thanks to the great acting and storytelling or the relatable premise, they are worth the investment of time throughout a single season or many.
‘Terriers’ (2010)
Back at the beginning of the 2010s, FX aired a fun crime comedy drama that people loved but have since forgotten all about. Terriers follows Hank Dolworth (Donal Logue), an ex-police officer and recovering alcoholic who decides to start his own private investigation firm with his best friend Britt Pollack (Michael Raymond-James), who also happens to be a former criminal.
It’s wonderfully entertaining to watch the pair do their thing with the sunny setting of Ocean Beach, San Diego as a fitting backdrop. The show maintains a 93% Rotten Tomatoes critic score, leaving fans wondering why it was cancelled so soon. Dubbed one of the best one-season wonders, Terriers was fueled by the great chemistry between the leads. The witty writing and buddy comedy story with an element of mystery kept viewers glued to the screen.
‘The Following’ (2013–2015)
You can’t go wrong with Kevin Bacon on screen in any capacity, and when you pair him with James Purefoy in a cat-and-mouse story, it’s on-screen magic. The Following centers around Ryan Hardy (Bacon), a former FBI agent who took down one of the most notorious serial killers, Joe Carroll (Purefoy). Joe still has it in for Ryan, especially since he later took up with Joe’s ex-wife. Joe is charming and convincing, and amassed a cult of followers, even while behind bars, who continue to do his dirty work.
The game between these two men is frightening and mysterious and filled with edge-of-your-seat tension. The acting is superb, with actors like The Boys‘ Valorie Curry playing Joe’s most devout follower, Emma, and X-Men‘s Shawn Ashmore as agent Mike Weston. The Following is one of those shows that is better than it gets credit for.
‘Prodigal Son’ (2019–2021)
Another crime show cancelled too soon, Prodigal Son explores the dynamic between Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne), an FBI profiler, and his serial killer father Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen). Martin was once a revered heart surgeon, but once his extracurricular activities caught up with him, he was arrested, tried, and sent to an asylum. The impact of what he did, however, still traumatizes Malcolm. He entered the field to study people like his father, but suffers from debilitating nightmares.
What’s so interesting about Prodigal Son is the hold Martin still has over Malcolm, and Malcolm’s fears that he may have the same sociopathic tendencies as his father. A cheesy procedural at times as Malcolm taps into the minds of killers, analyzes cases no one else can, and gets out of odd jams, the show was so intriguing that you couldn’t help but be drawn to the story. It has a bit of a Hannibal feel to it at times.
‘Defending Jacob’ (2020)
Arguably one of Apple TV’s most forgotten shows, the miniseries Defending Jacob has an incredible cast led by Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery. They are parents to 14-year-old Jacob (Jaeden Martell), who is accused of murder. The story follows the investigation as the pair grapple with what’s happening and the horrifying thought that their son could possibly be guilty.
With shows like Adolescence taking streaming and awards season by storm, Defending Jacob may not have approached the topic in the same way, but it’s in the same orbit. It was criticized for its ending and slow pacing, which is why the murder mystery legal drama might have fallen off the map once it concluded its eight-episode run. But it’s an interesting, different perspective to a story about the challenges of parenting and the emotional weight that responsibility carries when your worst nightmare comes true.
‘Mr Inbetween’ (2018–2021)
Hailing from Australia, Mr Inbetween quietly aired on FX for three seasons, but largely went under the radar, despite how good it was. The dark comedy/crime drama dives into the life of Raymond “Ray” Shoesmith (Scott Ryan), a hitman by night and family man by day. Navigating these two lives is a challenge, especially when his violent persona begins to impact his behavior as a loving father, boyfriend, brother, and friend.
There are a few similarities to the premise of the new show Memory of a Killer, but Mr Inbetween tackles the concept of a vicious hitman living a double life in a much more compelling way. Every episode is a masterpiece. The show builds tension and suspense while offering lighter moments to soften the mood in between. It’s arguably one of the best crime dramas you haven’t watched yet, earning a solid 95% Rotten Tomatoes critics score.
‘Remington Steele’ (1982–1987)
Going all the way back to the ’80s, Remington Steele was Pierce Brosnan as James Bond before he was actually James Bond. In this detective fiction series, Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) creates a fictional boss named Remington Steele to help her private investigation company get clients. It appears no one is willing to hire a woman.
The situation becomes murky, however, when an unnamed former thief and con man capitalizes on this fake persona and adopts it as his own. Once he inserts himself into her business, there’s no getting rid of “Steele.” The show, one of the great ’80s shows you probably haven’t seen, was both progressive and regressive at the same time. While it shone a spotlight on sexism, its response was also to bring in the handsome, male savior. That said, its social commentary was also bold for the time, and the character of Holt ended up serving as inspiration for many strong female detective characters who have come since.
‘Cagney & Lacey’ (1982–1988)
Even today, most buddy cop comedies, crime dramas, and procedurals that involve women still have a woman paired with a man. It’s rare to have two women as the leads, and Cagney & Lacey was among the first shows to do it. Far ahead of its time, the police procedural stars Christine Cagney (Sharon Gless) and Mary Beth Lacey (Tyne Daly) as two police detectives with very different lives. Cagney is single and focused on her career while Lacey is a wife and mother.
Considering that today, more than 40 years later, we have still yet to see a crime drama with two females beyond a few outliers like Killing Eve, Unbelievable, and Rizzoli & Isles, the dynamic between Cagney and Lacey remains a benchmark to which shows continue to aspire.
‘Psych’ (2006–2014)
One of the most beloved and long-running detective comedy dramas outside of Supernatural, Psych had an interesting premise that has been followed by so many shows of its kind since. At the heart is Shawn Spencer (James Roday), a crime consultant who has an eidetic memory and heightened observational skills. He uses this to make others believe he’s psychic, and it works. He enlists his best friend Burton “Gus” Guster (Dulé Hill) and his former detective father Henry (Corbin Bernsen) to help him solve cases.
With amazing chemistry between the leads and a fun angle that has been replicated to some degree with other shows like High Potential, Psych was not the first to offer a story with a detective who has special skills. But it is one of the most loved and long-running with eight seasons under its belt. Others have gotten more attention, from Monk to The Mentalist, so it’s easy to forget just how good Psych is.
‘JAG’ (1995–2005)
Overshadowed by the franchise it spawned, NCIS, JAG is actually where it all started. The legal drama is a police procedural that uniquely takes place within the U.S. Navy, centering only on judge advocates handling cases involving military individuals. Unlike others that focus on traditional criminal cases, JAG exclusively covered those that pertain to military operational law.
After the first few seasons, the United States Marine Corps became more involved in helping with storylines, making the show raw, real, and believable while also entertaining. The show was cancelled by NBC but picked up by CBS to continue its run, after which it started to focus more on action than legal drama. Once NCIS blew up, however, everyone forgot about JAG.
‘Bored to Death’ (2009–2011)
Skewing more towards comedy, Bored to Death has an impressive cast led by Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ames, a writer who spends his nights moonlighting as a private detective. The show also stars Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis as his friends George and Ray, respectively. The cancelled comedy series worth watching leans into the idea that Ames isn’t necessarily great at his job, but he has a passion for solving crime.
Lasting three seasons, there’s no denying the comedic talents of the main cast members. But beyond that, Bored to Death is also a well-written show that’s a charming and different entry among a sea of cookie-cutter procedurals. The show was so popular, fans petitioned to bring it back following its cancellation. There was talk of a potential movie revival but nothing ever materialized, a story itself that fits perfectly with Ames’ character.

Kevin Hart Shares His Thoughts On Tony Hinchcliffe’s Controversial George Floyd Joke
Okay, so BOOM! While chopping it up with The Breakfast Club crew, Kevin Hart made it really clear how he feels about the reactions to Tony Hinchcliffe’s George Floyd joke. He said he understands that the joke didn’t sit well with the Black community or culture, but he wasn’t shocked by it either. “It’s Tony Hinchcliffe. I don’t expect less. I don’t expect more.”
From there, he went on to say that roasts come with wild jokes, and in his eyes, Tony still had one of the strongest sets of the night. “I hate to say this, but I’m going to because we’re being honest […] people are talking about that joke, talk about his set.” He continued, “Tony arguably had the best set or one of the best sets.”
Hart also said he wants people to leave him out of the backlash since he didn’t make the joke. Furthermore, he said he thinks it’s really up to people to decide whether they vibe with that kind of content.
“It literally is either you’re a fan of this level of content, or you’re not,” Hart added. “My rebuttal is simplicity […] Remove me from it if I didn’t say it. The job at hand was to produce a successful roast, and that’s what I did. Stop talking as if I said it.”
Kevin Seemingly Doubles Down On Giving Comedians Room To Tell Jokes — Even When It’s Controversial
Shortly after his interview with ‘The Breakfast Club’ hit the internet, Kevin Hart hopped on Instagram to share a few more thoughts on the reactions to his comments and the roast. He dropped a clip from the interview alongside a lengthy caption, telling his followers to stop running with clickbait narratives and pay attention to the truth:
“We are living in crazy times…. Truth no longer matters and it’s pretty damn funny. Nobody does research…. Everyone just assumes and runs with the narrative of click bait. Even when the proof is right in front of your face…. Most will forever choose the lazy road of assumption….”
From there, he doubled down and made it clear that comedians do what they want on their own terms and nobody controls them”
“Even when I clearly say that comics are comics and comics operate on their own…. Nobody controls a comedian …. Comedians do what they want and how they want. It’s that simple… the rules to being a comedian are understood by all comedians.”
Here’s Why The Internet & Celebs Are Side-Eyeing Tony Hinchcliffe
Earlier this month, Tony Hinchcliffe had social media popping off after he brought up George Floyd while roasting Kevin. During his set, he said, “The Black community is so proud of you right now. George Floyd is looking up at us all, laughing so hard that he can’t breathe.” Folks on social media called the joke tasteless, and plenty of celebrities also spoke out, saying he went too far. See the full clip below.

‘The Four Seasons’ Return Is Both Helped and Hurt by a Steve Carell-Sized Absence
Good friends are there to help pick you up when life gets hard. Lasting friendships can endure grief, heartbreak, celebrations, and milestones — the changing seasons of life, which The Four Seasons embraces. Initially adapted from Alan Alda‘s film of the same name, the Netflix dramedy series, which stars the likes of Tina Fey, Will Forte, and Colman Domingo. explores a seasoned friend group made up of three married couples.
Although these friends seemed like they could survive Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne’s (Kerri Kenney-Silver) divorce after 25 years of marriage, nothing prepared them for Nick’s death in a car accident on New Year’s Eve, leaving his new, younger girlfriend alone and pregnant. In the wake of that loss, what does life look like for these friends moving forward? The Four Seasons Season 2 tackles this question and (mostly) succeeds.
What Is ‘The Four Seasons’ Season 2 About?
The Four Seasons Season 2 picks up in the spring, following Nick’s shocking death. In the wake of it, the core group of friends, which now includes Ginny (Erika Henningsen), continues their tradition of meeting up throughout the year for vacation, from upstate New York to a charming Italian village. Everyone is trying to figure out what the next chapter of life is going to look like, and each seasonal arc comes with its own personal and relational obstacles between partners and friends.
Just like the first season, The Four Seasons‘ return explores the complexities of life with heart and humor. Picking up with the core group is effortless, even with a sizable loss, and Season 2 honors where they’ve been, what they mean to each other, and where they’re going from here. Domingo once again assumes a spot in the director’s seat — this time, for the season premiere. Fey, too, embraces directing duties alongside her role as co-showrunner. There are still new corners for the series to explore, like what Ginny and Anne mean to each other after losing a man they both loved. Despite an increased familiarity with the characters and story structure, there’s an imbalance in Season 2, and it lacks the same emotional depth that the first season carried.
Steve Carell’s Nick Haunts ‘The Four Seasons’ Narrative, for Better and Worse
Nick’s death was one of Season 1’s most shocking moments — which, alongside Ginny’s pregnancy, also recontextualized previous scenes and conversations. His loss from the series’ core group is a massive blow to both the characters and the audience. Nick drove Season 1’s plot with his decision to leave his wife after 25 years of marriage, which impacted not just Anne and his daughter Lila (Julia Lester), but also his closest friends. Plus, Carell expertly captured the humor, pathos, and complexity of the type of character that suited him in both this series and later HBO’s Rooster.
Despite Nick’s death, his presence is felt for much of Season 2, with the premiere picking up months later as the group reunites in upstate New York to spread his ashes. What this season does so well is make the audience feel that loss, too, as Nick’s absence brings its own complications. Because he continues to drive the plot from beyond the grave, with his friends and loved ones left to navigate the aftermath, it leads to some beautifully heartfelt storylines. At the same time, something is missing from this show without Carell. The group’s core chemistry is still present, but it feels off without him there. In a way, Nick was the glue, and Season 2 both reflects his absence and suffers for it.
Will Forte’s Performance Stands Out in ‘The Four Seasons’ Return
With The Four Seasons Season 2 exploring the aftermath of Nick’s death, one of its core themes is grief and how it manifests differently for every member of the friend group. The performance that proves most poignant is Will Forte’s Jack. Season 2 does explore Jack’s friendship with Nick and how his grief evolves, but what makes this storyline work so well is how Jack’s depression is written with subtlety and nuance. He’s not just defined by sadness; there’s anger simmering under his attempted optimism.
For those familiar with the enneagram, Jack is the textbook definition of a Type 9. He is a peacemaker who cares about the harmony of the group, while internally holding on to his own emotions; when he tries to hold that anger internally, he often directs it towards himself and profusely apologizes when it surfaces indirectly. Jack believes he’s a nice guy, but Season 2 reveals that he harbors a lot of anger. He’s even angry at Nick for not being there anymore. Many of the core group’s storylines hit hard in different ways, but Jack’s stands out the most.
Within four days, the series received 11.9 million views.
While Jack’s depression permeates over the course of this year, Kate’s grief takes a backseat until the end of the season, with her darker thoughts pushed down in her efforts to keep Jack afloat. Although the conflict between Kate and Jack is stronger in Season 1, the second season does give their marriage its own interesting challenges. Should the series be renewed for a third season, there’s a hope that Kate is given more depth to examine her own existential crisis.
Certain Arcs Work Better Than Others in ‘The Four Seasons’ Season 2
Certain episode arcs are stronger than others in The Four Seasons‘ return. If there’s a weak part of the season, it belongs to the summer arc at the Jersey Shore. While there are important plot beats that happen, these two episodes ultimately slow the momentum compared to the spring and fall arcs, which are easily the strongest. Fall trades out college family weekend for a typical chaotic Thanksgiving episode you’d find in sitcoms. While Episode 5 falls into the usual trappings of these holiday episodes, even ending with another strain between Kate and Danny similar to Season 1, Episode 6 saves it with a brilliant reminder of why The Four Seasons works in the first place. The winter finale brings it home, but the ending itself lacks the emotional depth of the previous season.
Overall, The Four Seasons Season 2 is more uneven, yet still holds together thanks to the cast’s chemistry and its exploration of grief, depression, and moving forward. Carell’s absence both helps and hurts the series, especially since he’s gone on to work with Bill Lawrence, a creator and showrunner who arguably tackles these subjects better. While The Four Seasons doesn’t quite reach the emotional heights of a show like Shrinking, there’s still a warmth to the story that makes it easy to breeze through and be moved by along the way, resulting in a vacation I wouldn’t mind going on again next year.
The Four Seasons Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.

Mackenzie Shirilla Texted About Blackouts Before Fatal Crash
“Hell on Wheels” driver Mackenzie Shirilla claimed she was experiencing blackouts in newly released texts sent weeks before the fatal crash that claimed the lives of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend Davion Flanagan.
Shirilla, now 21, texted Russo about her alleged health scare in early July of 2022, according to the messages obtained by TMZ and published on Wednesday, May 27, noting she was concerned “it’s just gonna get worse.”
In the alleged unearthed texts, Russo questioned if Shirilla was vitamin deficient, noting it could impact blood flow to her brain.
Their exchange seemingly brought up lingering tension between the two, with Shirilla later responding to Russo, “Keep treating me like this see where that gets you.”
Her health condition has become a big topic following the release of Netflix’s The Crash, a documentary exploring Shirilla’s relationship with Russo, her drug use and posts on social media. She was sentenced to two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life in August 2023 after being convicted of murder, vehicular homicide and other charges. She was tried as an adult despite being 17 at the time. The judge notably described her in court as “literal hell on wheels.”
During her trial, she claimed to have suffered a blackout amid the deadly crash that took place on July 31, 2022, due to her postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) diagnosis, a chronic medical condition with symptoms like a fast heart rate, dizziness and fatigue.

Investigators discovered that she was racing down the road at a speed of 100 mph when she drove her Toyota Camry into a brick building in Strongsville, Ohio, that fateful morning. There was no trace of her ever putting her foot on the brake. Russo, 20, and Flanagan, 19, both did not have a seatbelt on and were pronounced dead at the scene while Shirilla suffered critical injuries and was air-lifted to a hospital.
Russo’s family has maintained that she was often making threats to their son before the crash. There was one alleged July incident captured on Russo’s phone, in which she was banging on the door, calling him derogatory names and threatening to key his car unless he let her in the house.
Another newly released text from Russo weeks before the crash showed that he was considering some time apart. He wrote to Shirilla, “I dont want u to think im abandoning u i wish it could work but i dont think its going to at this point especially with the threats we should just breakup so we can both fimd happiness somewhere else.”
After the crash, it was determined that Shirilla was under the influence of marijuana. Her blood tested negative for alcohol and mushrooms after the latter was found in her car.
One of Shirilla’s final Instagram posts is a tribute to Russo in September 2022, which said, “I just don’t understand why this had to happen, i f***ing miss you. we are soulmates. We did everything together we had the same dreams we wanted the same life I’ve never met anybody that would just make me feel so loved and protected.”
Shirilla is currently housed at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville and will be eligible for parole in October 2037.

This Forgotten 5-Part Sci-Fi Series From ‘Star Trek’s Creator Is the Perfect Late-Night Binge
After Star Trek: The Original Series aired its last episode on June 3, 1969, with “Turnabout Intruder,” creator Gene Roddenberry turned his attention to other projects like The Questor Tapes, a TV movie released 8 years later that was meant to be the pilot for a new series. Of course, he wouldn’t find that level of Star Trek success again in his lifetime until Star Trek: The Next Generation. But after his lifetime? Roddenberry still wouldn’t find that level of success outside the Star Trek franchise, but he did enjoy moderate success with two projects he left behind: Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda (aka Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda), and the latter, finally, is available on streaming, 20 years after it aired its final episode.
‘Andromeda’s Systems Commonwealth Mirrors ‘Star Trek’s Federation
Roddenberry’s widow, Majel Barrett, came across the two series in Roddenberry’s archives, and gave the green light for both to be developed into series. Earth: Final Conflict hit airwaves first in 1997, and its success paved the way for Andromeda‘s release three years later, in 2000. Kevin Sorbo, best known as the titular hero of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, was brought on as the lead character, Captain Dylan Hunt of an intergalactic government known as the Systems Commonwealth. If the idea of a collective governing body whose membership consists of representatives across the known universe sounds familiar, it should. It mirrors Star Trek‘s Federation, and is a concept Roddenberry would visit time and again throughout his proposed projects.
In Andromeda‘s case, the Systems Commonwealth is a constitutional monarchy established thousands of years in the future. The Commonwealth, with its capital in Tarn-Vedra, consists of representatives from three galaxies: our own Milky Way, Triangulum, and Andromeda. The backstory, as we learn in the pilot episode “Under the Night,” is that the Commonwealth was at war with a parasitic species, humanoid in appearance, known as the Magog.
To prevent the Magog from spreading into the galaxy under its umbrella, the Commonwealth begrudgingly relents during peace talks, and allowed the Magog access to a key planet. That planet just so happened to belong to the Nietzscheans (and yes, that’s purposeful — they religiously follow the works of one Friedrich Nietzsche), who are none too pleased and secretly attempt to sabotage the Commonwealth and seize control in retaliation.
Dylan Hunt Wakes Up in the Long Night in ‘Andromeda’
With the series now in context, “Under the Night” sees Dylan in command of the starship Andromeda Ascendant, which harbors a powerful artificial intelligence he calls “Andromeda” that controls the computer systems aboard. It isn’t long before the ship is left severely damaged after a surprise attack from the Nietzscheans. Dylan orders his crew to evacuate, choosing to go down with his ship as any good captain would, only he’s attacked by his first officer, a Nietzschean known as Gaheris Rhade (Steve Bacic), who tries to kill him. Dylan thwarts the attempt on his life and kills Gaheris, just as the Andromeda Ascendant becomes stranded on the edge of the event horizon of a black hole.
They become frozen in time until 303 years later when the Andromeda Ascendant is pulled from the event horizon by the crew of a salvage ship, the Eureka Maru (Roddenberry isn’t terribly imaginative when it comes to names, with this echoing the Kobayashi Maru, while the name “Dylan Hunt” was used not once but twice before by Roddenberry, in Genesis II and Planet Earth). The crew consists of pilot and con-artist Beka Valentine (Lisa Ryder); engineer Seamus Zelazny Harper (Gordon Michael Woolvett); Dr. Trance Gemini (Laura Bertram); and Rev Bern (Brent Stait), science officer, among others.
8 Years After ‘Star Trek,’ Gene Roddenberry’s Forgotten Sci-Fi Pilot Could’ve Been His Next Hit
The NBC project had a lot of potential to be a brand-new series.
They rescue Dylan and the ship’s AI android avatar Andromeda (Lexa Doig) and bring him up to speed on what’s happened over the last 300+ years, primarily that the Systems Commonwealth is no more, and they now live in the era known as “The Long Night,” a period marked by lawlessness, conflict, and great instability. Aghast, Dylan calls on the crew to join him and bring justice back to the galaxies, looking to “rekindle the light of civilization.”
The first season garnered less-than-spectacular reviews, with a review from SciFiNow summing up the consensus as “It’s a cliché but decent enough… but the problem is that Andromeda falls into Star Trek: Voyager territory by playing it safe and not doing enough to develop its characters.” Andromeda would stay in production for five full seasons before airing its last episode, “The Heart of the Journey (Part Two),” on May 13, 2005, the victim of a change in viewer interest away from its syndicated kin to more serious fare (per Collider). Nevertheless, Andromeda is worth checking out, a chance to see the last of Roddenberry’s original creative output at work, now made easier than ever thanks to streaming.
Andromeda is now streaming for free in the U.S. on Tubi.

Prime Video’s 8-Part Romance That’s Designed To Be Binged Is ‘Heated Rivalry’ Meets ‘Bridgerton’
Book-to-series adaptations continue to be the rage in the modern streaming era, especially in the romance department. Over the past couple of years, everything from Tell Me Lies to The Summer I Turned Pretty has earned the small screen treatment, but there’s one show that’s currently heating up the streaming charts. Based on Elle Kennedy’s book series, the new Prime Video series Off Campus is an instant streaming sensation.
Now, after one triumphant season, the series is already gearing up for production on Season 2, borrowing the adaptation blueprint that Bridgerton established while building on the viral sensation that made Heated Rivalry an instant hit. Kennedy’s series, like the aforementioned shows, has even more romances that future seasons can follow. An addictive binge-watch in its own right, Off Campus is rightly wielding its predecessors’ successes to its advantage.
What Is ‘Off Campus’ About?
Come for the hockey, stay for the romance. That game-winning formula for Heated Rivalry is working just as well for Off Campus, which, unlike Tell Me Lies, highlights the non-toxic aspects of college relationships. Season 1 follows the fake-dating pact between music major Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and legacy hockey player Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), but as any romance fan will tell you, what begins as something fake gradually becomes genuine.
When the relationship between “Wellsy” and Garrett becomes something more serious, it emphasizes strong communication, enthusiastic consent, and mutual respect. Any drama they face is rarely between them, but rather stems from external circumstances. When they do have a momentary fallout, no emotional games are being played. While certain individuals do have red flag moments on Off Campus, they’re used as moments of growth. Rather than the show villainizing Hannah’s best friend, Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla), for her post-breakup decisions, we watch her struggle with the fallout, inwardly debating whether to make a fresh start with Garrett’s teammate, Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn). Emotional validation is just as sexy as hot and steamy hookups!
Like ‘Heated Rivalry,’ ‘Off Campus’ Love Story Is Organically Heating Up
With Off Campus finding its viral moment, more details about the show’s future are emerging. As the internet picks its new boyfriends, showrunner Louisa Levy essentially told the New York Times that there will be more hockey and more sex moving forward. It worked for Heated Rivalry, and with that expectation, it’s logical to want to head in that direction.
“There is something really appealing about taming the bad boy,” Levy said — but does Off Campus truly have a genuine “bad boy” among its fan-favorite characters? What makes Off Campus exciting to watch is that the men in the story are relationship goals who are genuinely interested in developing something organically. Next to Tell Me Lies‘ Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), the members of the Briar U hockey team are green flags galore — yes, even Dean, who, despite his insistence that he wants to stay a ladies’ man, seems to be developing feelings for the last person he ever expected to have them for.
Like ‘Bridgerton,’ ‘Off Campus’ Has a Deep Roster of Beloved Characters
Given Off Campus‘ sprawling ensemble cast and the fact that Season 1 sweetly wraps up Hannah and Garrett’s love story, seeds have already been planted for the future, including the blossoming of Allie and Dean’s potential relationship. While it seems like the Prime Video series is borrowing the Bridgerton formula and focusing on a new central couple for Season 2 — John Logan, played by Antonio Cipriano, and Grace Ivers, soon to be portrayed by India Fowler — Off Campus is also putting its own spin on adapting Kennedy’s books. Focusing on a new couple every season gives the series legs, but Season 1 also sprinkles in early story breadcrumbs to make the switch to a different romance less jarring. Like Bridgerton, previously prominent couples will be present, even if they’re not dominating the spotlight.
Off Campus certainly has shades of Bridgerton and Heated Rivalry, given that they’re all based on beloved romance series, but what they all share is their bingeable nature. With a big cast that lends itself to a different love story every season, as well as an even more prominent focus on the sport of hockey, Off Campus is so addictive that you can finish it in a day. Diehard fans are already rewatching it in anticipation of the next season, which is scheduled to begin production soon. With so much potential in Kennedy’s original books to pull from, Off Campus is already well on its way to becoming streaming’s next big romance success story.
