John Cena’s final run of his in-ring career with WWE started with a dramatic heel turn, a 17th championship and ended with a loss to Gunther in December.
Cena not going out on top against “The Ring General” was a decision that pro wrestling fans have debated intensely over the last five months. The loss marked the end of Cena’s career, but also catapulted Gunther into a “career killer,” who later ended A.J. Styles’ time in WWE too.

Videographer Adam Glyn caught up with Cena on Thursday and asked him about the fans’ reaction to his final match. Cena suggested that it was the best ending for him.
“I think we all just live in the moment, right? I think, this is just my perspective, and if people were upset, that’s their right, of course, you can feel how you want to feel. I had a career that was polarizing. That’s the world Michael Cole uses a lot,” Cena said. “That was a polite word for people (who) would chant at the top of their lungs that ‘I suck.’
“So, I think with the last match, the audience was polarized. There were people who understood and were entertained in a positive way. There were people who were so in the moment and reacted with such passion, it was like a microcosm of my career. The audience was split. I can’t think of a better way to close the chapter than that. It defines what I did.”

Cena is set to be a WWE Hall of Famer when the time comes, and while his in-ring career may be over, he’s still a part of the WWE Universe.
He announced at Backlash that he will host the John Cena Classic in hopes of showcasing WWE talent from NXT to give fans a glimpse into what the future will hold for the company. Similarly, he hand-picked NXT competitors to share his final card with him at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Cena told Glyn he was “super excited” about the event. He said there were still some things that had to be worked out.

“I am fully invested in this,” he said. “So, I can’t wait to see what it is. I can’t wait until we announce the date and location. I think that’s obviously step one and we’ll go from there.”

The Manchester United captain has admitted he would have loved to see Declan Rice join the club, describing him as the ideal fit for the team

Bruno Fernandes admitted feeling gutted when Declan Rice joined Arsenal, claiming he sees him as the perfect fit for Manchester United. The former West Ham captain was heavily linked with Old Trafford when the club were in the market for a midfielder amid the possibility of Paul Pogba leaving in 2021.
Rice had been on United’s wishlist for some time and The Manchester Evening News reported the midfielder had asked United players about the club. Jesse Lingard was a part of the England squad and it is understood that Rice spoke with Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw about United.
Then‑manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer later admitted there had been discussions about signing Rice, a player he ‘really liked.’ In the end, a deal never materialised and United moved for Raphael Varane instead.
Two years later, Rice completed his switch to Arsenal for an initial £100m, rising by a further £5m in add‑ons, making him the most expensive English player of 2023.

And Fernandes admitted he wished the England midfielder had chosen Old Trafford instead. During an interview with The Football Writers’ Association, he said: “I’ve always said, Rice was a player to play for Man United, I was really sad when he chose to go Arsenal.
“I always thought he would be a perfect fit for our club.”
Meanwhile, Solskjaer had also expressed strong admiration for the England international during United’s search for a midfielder. During an appearance on the Stick to Football podcast, the Norwegian said: Yeah, [there was interest] I really, really like him as a player.

“We discussed him a few times and I think we would have done well with him in midfield. I think his legs, covering the pitch. I think he improved a lot on his playmaking as well.”

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.
Although they don’t share a dressing room, both players have a strong mutual respect and trained together three years ago during a summer camp in Portugal.
Footage from the session showed Rice hugging Fernandes after the Portuguese midfielder clipped the post with a first‑time volley during shooting practice. Fernandes later reposted a picture of the pair from the session, adding a handshake emoji and writing: “Was a pleasure to work with you.”
This season, Fernandes collected the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award ahead of Rice. However, the Portuguese will now go head‑to‑head with Rice for the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Season award.
Arsenal have three names on the list in Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes and David Raya. City pair Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland also feature, with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs‑White and Brentford hitman Igor Thiago completing the line-up.
Fernandes has claimed 21 assists (in all competitions) and eight goals in 32 Premier League games this season, and is just one short of equalling the record held jointly by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry of 20 assists in a single Premier League season.
It has been another outstanding campaign for the United captain, whose form has surged since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim in January. He has also been central to United’s return to the Champions League.

NEW DELHI: Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh has landed in controversy after allegedly making a racial remark directed at Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma. The incident reportedly took place after Mumbai Indians handed Punjab Kings a six-wicket defeat in Dharamsala — PBKS’ fifth consecutive loss in IPL 2026.In a video that has gone viral on social media, Arshdeep can allegedly be heard saying to Tilak, “Oye Andhere, sunscreen lagaaya?” (Hey dark one, did you apply sunscreen?).” Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan was among the first to react to the incident. Recalling his own experiences of facing comments over his skin tone during his playing days, Sivaramakrishnan strongly condemned the remark. After watching the video, the former India cricketer – who played nine Tests and 16 ODIs – called for strict action against Arshdeep and even demanded a ban.“Nobody believed me. Everyone mocked and trolled me. Arshdeep should be banned this season and should be paid on a pro rata basis. The players today should be hit where it hurts the most. I am sure I would be trolled again,” Sivaramakrishnan posted on X.“I told you guys. Tilak can’t say anything now as he is in early part of his career. But BCCI with this proof can take action,” he said in another post. “If BCCI takes action, I will name people who racially abused me if BCCI will take action against them,” he said. Sivaramakrishnan had recently alleged that some of his former India teammates referred to him as “dark boy” because of his skin tone.According to a report in The Indian Express, Sivaramakrishnan recalled an incident from India’s tour of Pakistan, when he was part of the national squad. He claimed that then-captain Sunil Gavaskar had ordered a cake for him. However, what was meant to be a celebration turned into a painful memory that still affects him. After the Arshdeep video surfaced online, those memories reportedly came back to him.“Hey Sunny, you ordered the right colour cake. Such a dark chocolate cake for a dark boy,” Sivaramakrishnan recalled a teammate telling Gavaskar, according to the report in The Indian Express.Sivaramakrishnan represented India between 1983 and 1987, playing nine Tests and 16 ODIs while taking a combined 41 wickets.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler is one of seven players in a share of the lead at three-under after round one, with Martin Kaymer in surprising form, too, 16 years on from his breakthrough success at the event.
Patrick Reed, Shane Lowry and Xander Schauffele are among the major champions right in touch just a shot back, but Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau have plenty to do after disappointing starts in Philadelphia.
The Masters champion finished with four consecutive bogeys to finish seven shots behind the leaders, with LIV Golf’s DeChambeau two shots further back and likely out of contention already.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of round two at Aronimink.
