Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first Star Wars film released theatrically in nine years, and the first to be based on a Disney+ property. While the film doesn’t feel quite as slapped together or as rushed as Moana 2, which was also originally conceived as a television series, The Mandalorian and Grogu fails to make the big-budget film feel any different than any season of The Mandalorian.

The film was initially imagined as The Mandalorian’s fourth season. Instead, co-writer and director Jon Favreau decided to turn it into a theatrical film. Taking place between the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi and before the sequel trilogy, Din Djarin/The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) is now bounty hunting for The New Republic. His bond with Grogu has grown even stronger, and his little apprentice is getting more powerful.

This review does contain storyline spoilers. If that sort of thing bothers you, please read at your own risk.

Too Safe To Truly Hit Hard

Answering to Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver), The New Republic is searching for the whereabouts of Commander Coin, whom they have very little information about apart from his name. The Mandalorian is forced to work with the Hutt Twins on a rescue mission for Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White), Jabba the Hutt’s son, from planet Shakari in order to gain information on Coin.

The story is lackluster at best, which is sad since writers Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Noah Kloor are capable of creating something that doesn’t feel so safe. The main plot is essentially that The Mandalorian has grown soft due to his bond with Grogu. He’s decided to be a good guy and works for The New Republic.

The film is basically him bouncing from one bounty-hunting job to another until he gets the Rotta the Hutt job. He knows the Hutts’ reputation and that no one should disobey them, but he does just that, and everything that happens afterward is because he couldn’t complete the initial job as he was asked to do.

Most of this comes from his meeting with Rotta the Hutt. Expecting the worst, Rotta is rather kind despite his imposing physique. He’s nice to Grogu, and he’s nothing like Jabba. The Mandalorian makes an empathetic decision over a business-related one and pays the price.

In between all of this is the film’s insistence on pointing out how reckless The Mandalorian is on missions. On at least three separate occasions, either Din Djarin himself or Colonel Ward refers to his actions as “messy” and implies that everything has hit the fan, but at least the main goal was accomplished. It’s very much a concept borrowed from the Lethal Weapon or Dirty Harry films.

Clonking And Bonking

The film has two major stunt coordinators: J.J. Dashnaw (The Equalizer 2, The Matrix Resurrections) and Mandy Kowalski (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Wonder Woman). The credits between Dashnaw and Kowalski imply that the two not only know how to piece together an entertaining action sequence, but also to throw in a little variety over the course of a couple of hours.

Apart from the opening battle and The Mandalorian’s fight with Embo, the action in the film grows redundant and stale rather quickly. Most of the action is a lot of clonking and bonking, accentuated by signature pew-pew plasma blasts from a blaster pistol or rifle. Rinse and repeat, and then mix it up by throwing someone off a cliff, and that’s the extent of the action choreography here.

There are a couple of chases thrown in for good measure, and a different character or two to try to make things interesting. Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios (Steve Blum) from Star Wars Rebels pops up and bounds off the ceilings and walls while fighting, similar to Beast from The X-Men, but none of the action feels memorable or unique.

Grogu and the Anzellan, Babu Frik, have such weird movements in the film. Jon Favreau has stated that he incorporated puppeteering and stop-motion into The Mandalorian and Grogu, but these little guys look like they’re hopping around on strings the majority of the time, like they’re auditioning for a Team America: World Police sequel.

There are two giant droids in The Twins’ lair that are brought to life through stop-motion animation. What makes the segment even cooler is that it was likely done by Tippett Studio (Mad God, the original RoboCop films). These giant droids give off gargantuan Iron Man vibes, especially the Mark I’s creation in the cave, which isn’t too much of a stretch since Favreau directed that film as well.

Not The Triumphant Return Star Wars So Desperately Needs

The issue with this film is that it hints at ideas for potential Star Wars films that are immediately more promising than this. Shakari has this futuristic city nightlife in the rain aesthetic, not unlike Blade Runner, which immediately makes you crave a gritty Star Wars noir film, or a modern western that at least somewhat resembles Lone Wolf and Cub.

Rotta’s chemistry with both The Mandalorian and Grogu makes it seem like he’d be a worthy addition to their adventures. Since Grogu doesn’t talk and Rotta is basically all muscle, the dynamic between the three of them in other adventures could be really exciting and entertaining. While the film we received does capitalize on this to some extent, it’s a watered-down version that feels very Marvel; we’ll see Rotta later, but only in a smaller role or as part of some other project several years from now.

Embo is the coolest character featured in the film. Originally introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Embo is a Kyuzo bounty hunter and has an anooba named Marrok assist on his hunts. He’s hired by the Twins to bring in The Mandalorian after the Rotta rescue mission goes a different route. The issue is Embo is cool, but he doesn’t really do much of anything. He eventually has a full-blown fight with The Mandalorian and is technically a highlight of the film, but he’s still forgettable. It feels like he’s a strong background character, is liked by fans, but is still transitioning to becoming relevant.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is not the triumphant return to the big screen that the franchise was looking for. It’s watchable, but it’s incredibly monotonous, has nothing substantially important occur, and feels like an afterthought even in comparison to the television series it’s based on.

The first reactions to Amazon MGM’s Masters of the Universe are finally here, and the early buzz is sounding far more positive than many fans expected.

Following the film’s world premiere, several early reactions praised the movie for fully embracing the larger than life fantasy insanity that made the original franchise iconic in the 1980s. One of the most talked about reactions described the film as “gloriously campy, wildly entertaining, and nonstop fun from beginning to end,” with many viewers praising director Travis Knight for understanding exactly what fans wanted from a live action He Man movie.

The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He Man alongside Jared Leto, Idris Elba, Camila Mendes, and Alison Brie. The story follows Adam returning to Eternia after years away in order to confront Skeletor and reclaim his destiny as the most powerful man in the universe.

A major theme appearing throughout reactions is the movie’s willingness to lean into the colorful fantasy tone of the original cartoons and toy line instead of grounding everything in realism. Some viewers are already comparing the film’s energy to modern fantasy blockbusters, pointing to its oversized visuals, cosmic mythology, and unapologetically fun approach to the material.

Interestingly, “campy” is clearly being used as a compliment this time around. The franchise has always carried a certain level of over the top fantasy charm, and many fans online seem relieved that the movie did not attempt to strip away that identity. Discussions across social media have praised the film for embracing the weirdness of Eternia rather than trying to reinvent it into something overly dark or self serious.

The premiere itself also featured a major full circle moment for longtime fans when original 1987 He Man actor Dolph Lundgren appeared alongside Galitzine on the red carpet holding the iconic Sword of Power.

Amazon MGM appears to be positioning Masters of the Universe as one of its biggest theatrical releases of 2026, and based on these first reactions, the studio may finally have a genuine crowd pleasing fantasy franchise on its hands.

Danny Booko cancelled an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen after publicly apologizing for his behavior on The Valley.

“To the person I love most, my beautiful wife [Nia Sanchez Booko], I am so sorry,” Danny, 42, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, May 20. “Watching these last few episodes back hasn’t been easy.”

The couple were at odds in recent Valley episodes over a drag competition, as Danny felt Nia, 36, wasn’t devoting enough time to help him prepare. The couple had a blowout fight that broke the fourth wall during Wednesday’s episode, as they both reminded one other they were still wearing microphones.

“It was a difficult season of life and a version of myself that I’m embarrassed by and not proud of,” Danny went on. “A short fuse, stress, alcohol and lack of sleep are never a good combination, but that’s not an excuse. I should never have taken any of it out on [Nia].”

Danny confessed that “balancing parenthood and life” while filming The Valley created a stressful environment for his family.

“I love, honor, and respect you deeply, and I did not show that in some of these moments,” he wrote to his wife. “Nia, I love you so much. I’m grateful for you, our family, and this beautiful, chaotic life we’ve built together. I thank God for you every day.”

Danny released his public apology hours before he was supposed to be interviewed alongside Luke Broderick on Watch What Happens Live. Host Andy Cohen confirmed on air that Danny had pulled out of their interview but suggested it was not due to the backlash over recent episodes. (Danny was replaced on WWHL by costar Tom Schwartz.)

“[Danny] booked a job and had to cancel to work,” Cohen, 57, explained. “I believe him because if he canceled because he was scared to come here, we would have heard from our publicist that he’s not up for it.”

Cohen added, “Listen, he’s coming to the reunion so he’s going to deal with it!”

The Valley viewers did get some additional insight into Danny and Nia’s tension on the latest After Show episode. Danny insisted that his blowup with Nia was not at all related to the fact that they welcomed their fourth baby, daughter Adelaide, last summer.

“This is number four,” Danny insisted on Wednesday’s After Show. “You think I haven’t done this three other times? I know exactly how to support my wife.”

Meanwhile, Nia suggested that the heated argument was not indicative of how she and Danny communicate in their marriage.

“One thing with me and Daniel, in our relationship in general, yes, we have tense moments; yes, we can be short with each other,” Nia said. “Sometimes we’re in this beautiful season where everything is really good, and sometimes it’s not. And what people will see through this window of time is, there were so many tense moments, and we were short with each other and had short fuses a lot.”

She continued, “That doesn’t mean that we have a bad relationship. It just means that we were having hard moments. And we’ll keep working on it, because we’re in it for the long run. And we’ve been together for a long time. And we know that those moments don’t define our entire relationship.”

The Valley airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

‘Coraline’ (2009)

Based on Neil Gaiman‘s 2002 novella about a young girl who discovers a mysterious alternate universe behind a secret door in her new home, Coraline is far and away one of the darkest fairy tale movies of all time. It’s also a fantastic way to introduce the little ones of the family to dark fantasy and horror, but though it’s a family film, Coraline should be able to delight and terrify viewers of any age in equal measure.

Directed by Henry Selick, it’s the third-highest-grossing stop-motion animated film of all time—for good reason. With its vivid world-building, stunning visuals, enrapturing score, and emotionally compelling story, it’s undoubtedly one of the best family fantasy films of the 2000s. Dark, funny, and moving, it’s animated filmmaking at its very best.

‘Time of the Gypsies’ (1988)

Nowadays, there are many masterpieces from countries that no longer exist. Case in point: Yugoslavia, which has one of the most impressive national filmographies of any 20th-century European nation. It was the country that produced Emir Kusturica, one of the greatest European auteurs in movie history, whose Time of the Gypsies is a transcendental work of art. It’s a coming-of-age fantasy crime drama about Perhan, a telekinetic Romani teenager who becomes a criminal in Milan.

A masterclass in how to employ magic realism in movies, Time of the Gypsies is somehow still awfully underrated. It holds a well-deserved score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics have praised its incredibly vast scope and Kusturica’s airtight direction. It’s visually poetic, it has a haunting score by Goran Bregović, and the performances of its largely non-professional cast are all impressive. It’s arthouse fantasy at its most underappreciated.

‘Song of the Sea’ (2014)

They may not be as big as your Pixars or your DreamWorks, but the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon is nevertheless one of the most celebrated animation studios currently working in the industry. Their highest-rated film on Letterboxd and IMDb alike is Song of the Sea, about a 10-year-old Irish boy who discovers that his mute sister is a selkie.

It’s the kind of film that animation fans can’t believe isn’t more famous. It’s visually gorgeous, full of narrative and thematic depth, emotionally enthralling, and perfectly family-friendly. The performances of the exceptional voice cast are all fantastic, and the way the story borrows elements from Irish folklore to tell a tale about grief and the power of stories is profoundly moving.

‘Kwaidan’ (1964)

Kwaidan is one of the best-looking horror movies ever made, an engrossing Masaki Kobayashi anthology film consisting of four separate stories inspired by Japanese folktales. The film was stuck in development hell for a decade, but once it finally saw the light of day, audiences around the world were treated to what has aged as one of the greatest horror films of all time.

The film’s baroque aesthetic is decorated with a volume of colorful details so dense that it would take several re-watches to absorb everything that Kobayashi plasters on the screen. It’s a truly timeless adaptation of equally timeless pieces of folk storytelling, and with its eerie atmosphere and arthouse sensibilities, it’s a must-see for all those who love dark fantasy.

‘The Fall’ (2006)

Directed by Tarsem Singh, The Fall centers on a young girl who meets a stuntman at the hospital where they are both staying, and the latter tells her the tale of a group of heroes seeking revenge on an evil ruler. When it originally came out, the film split critics and performed very poorly at the box office. Two decades later, it has become one of the biggest fantasy cult classics of the 21st century.

With a thought-provoking story that will definitely not be for everyone and jaw-dropping visuals to make up for it, The Fall is one of the best hidden-gem fantasy masterpieces of the 21st century. Inspired by the work of filmmakers like Terry Gilliam and Alejandro Jodorowsky, this mind-bending extravaganza is a love letter to the power of stories, cinema, and fantasy.

‘Peter Pan’ (1953)

One of the best Disney classics of the ’50s, Peter Pan is a loving adaptation of Scottish writer J.M. Barrie‘s book. It’s the magical story of a girl and her brothers who are whisked away to the magical world of Neverland by its hero, Peter Pan, a dashing young boy who can never grow up. Though the story has been adapted for the screen on numerous occasions, this remains one of the best.

This beautifully animated movie is as timeless as classics come, enchanting for audiences of all ages. It’s one of the best fantasy adventure movies of its time, thanks to charming direction and a screenplay whose imagination and innocence soar far above whatever flaws the film may have. It may not have the complex themes or groundbreaking innovations that make other Disney classics far superior fantasy films, but it definitely comes close.

‘Conan the Barbarian’ (1982)

Back in the ’80s, Arnold Schwarzenegger was at the peak of his career as an action star, starring in increasingly wild and explosive films that allowed him to show off his strength (both literal and figurative). One of his best movies from this period is Conan the Barbarian, about a powerful warrior who sets out to avenge the genocide of his people at the hands of a cult.

This fantasy epic is one of the most entertaining sword & sandal films ever, with brutal yet delightful action and a fun B-picture tone. It was the movie that cemented Schwarzenegger’s place in the contemporary action movie canon, and nowadays, it’s still remembered as one of his most bewitching roles. While some directors could have chosen to make this a campy adventure, John Milius goes for a darker and more serious tone, which somehow works magnificently.

‘Barbie’ (2023)

Back when the live-action Barbie movie was first announced, no one expected it to be anything special. Even when the always-outstanding Greta Gerwig was announced to be attached to the project, people weren’t sure what to expect. As it turned out, Barbie proved to be worthy of the title of the most successful film of 2023. Colorful, quirky, and shockingly smart, it’s an emotionally complex story about Barbie and Ken having to travel from Barbie Land to the real world, where they discover both the joys and perils of being human.

Philosophically profound but also fully able to have tons of silly fun with itself, Barbie is one of the best comedies of the 2020s thus far. Its fantasy elements are kept relatively low-key throughout, but they do add a sweet air of imagination and innocence to the story. All in all, what Gerwig was able to achieve with Barbie is genre filmmaking at its finest.

‘The Green Knight’ (2021)

A visually stunning movie based on the 14th-century poem “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight,” director David Lowery’s 2021 masterpiece is an underrated story of courage, mortality, and what it means to be human. The Green Knight follows Gawain (Dev Patel) as he embarks on a perilous journey to keep his word to the titular character. Along the way, he meets otherworldly creatures and people with bad intentions.

With an enchanting atmosphere that holds viewers’ attention throughout Gawain’s magical odyssey, it’s easy to overlook The Green Knight’s philosophical themes and pressing questions about life and death. The protagonist’s journey is as much a quest to prove himself as it is to discover who he really is, pointing the mirror at audiences and their own paths forward.

‘A Monster Calls’ (2016)

Directed by J. A. Bayona, A Monster Calls is a modern classic that tells the heartfelt story of Conor O’Malley (Lewis MacDougall), a young boy who struggles with his mother’s terminal illness. When the titular Monster (Liam Neeson) shows up at his bedroom window one night, the biggest adventure of his life begins.

Visually striking and emotionally powerful, A Monster Calls seamlessly blends reality and fantasy, highlighting the transformative power of magic and imagination (especially in the darkest times). Its unflinching depiction of grief and the healing effect that stories can have is unmatched, and will likely capture fans’ hearts for years to come.

Khloé Kardashian is opening up about certain regrets over her two cats, Grey Kitty and Baby Kitty.

The Kardashians star, 41, revealed on the Wednesday, May 20, episode of her “Khloé In Wonder Land” podcast that she had her pets declawed, a practice that involves the “surgical amputation of all or part of a cat’s third phalanges (toe bones) and the attached claws” and is “strongly discouraged,” according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.

“I was really misadvised about getting my cats declawed,” Khloé said. “I’ve never owned cats before. I didn’t even know that was a thing. I feel really, really terrible that I did go in this direction. I feel like that’s why my cats are miserable and it was at my doing.”

She added, “My cats wear AirTags. Like, they’re not allowed to even go near a door. I’m so afraid if they get out because they have no way to defend themselves. They lost their protection tools. It makes me sad.”

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association “strongly discourages veterinarians from performing onychectomy, tenectomy, or any other surgical procedure intended to prevent the normal use of the animal’s claws that is not medically necessary.”

The AVMA says that “scratching is a normal behavior of cats that conditions the claws, serves as a visual and scent territorial marker, allows for self-defense, and provides healthy muscle engagement through stretching. The amputation or other surgical alteration of the distal digits is an acutely painful procedure and may result in chronic pain, maladaptive behavior, disability, and significant mutilation.”

Several states in the U.S. have banned the declawing of cats except for medical reasons. California joined the growing list in January after new legislation was passed last October.

“I have two possessed cats,” she said. “Grey Kitty was great. Perfect. The saint of a cat. Never did anything wrong. So what did I do? We gotta get True a second cat, because True wants one. I got Baby Kitty for True’s sixth birthday. Once we got Baby Kitty, Grey Kitty started peeing on one of the beds to tell us she hates us and she’s pissed that we have another cat. They’re the same cat. I thought this was great because why would a cat wanna be alone? Big mistake.”

“Then I found out Baby Kitty started mimicking Grey’s behavior and started doing it, and I’m still blaming Grey Kitty,” Khloé continued. “I had to put cameras to find out which cat was doing it.”

“Grey Kitty’s back to being an angel and now I have Baby Kitty, who’s just like a demon right now. What do I do? ‘Cause I can’t live like this,” she added. “The vet and the breeder, everyone’s like, ‘We’ve never seen a cat do this for this long.’ They’ve given me all the suggestions and all the tips, but also if she’s not happy, I don’t know what to do. So I am in an animal circus.”

Andy Dick is opening up about his sobriety journey several months after an overdose that prompted renewed concern over his health and well-being. The comedian detailed that fateful day, sharing how the experience impacted his outlook as he continues working toward staying sober.

Dick went through multiple public setbacks and legal troubles tied to his addiction, while also repeatedly attempting recovery and sobriety throughout the years.

Andy Dick is taking life day by day following his near-fatal overdose in December 2025. In an interview with David Manheim, published in Rolling Stone on May 20, the 60-year-old comedian revealed he was 147 days sober.

Dick recalled that fateful day, sharing that he was hanging out with friends but left them when he saw people “passing around a pipe” across the street and assumed they were smoking marijuana. However, he later realized what he took a hit of wasn’t pot. Instead, it was a white substance that he assumed was cocaine.

“I went into an elaborate story that lasted like 10 seconds, and then I just plopped down and allegedly died,” Dick said. Looking back, the comedian said he should have known that approaching the strangers was a bad idea.

As The Blast previously reported, Dick was found slumped over and unresponsive on the street in December 2025. He was given Narcan, a life-saving medication used for immediately reversing the effects of opioid overdose, and emergency responders were called to the scene. Later, Dick said he believed what he overdosed on was fentanyl.

As soon as he gained consciousness, Dick’s first thought was “Why didn’t you just let me die?” He told Manheim, “Which is very sad that I had that thought. But the first thing I said allegedly was, ‘Where’s the vodka?’”

Andy Dick Went Into Treatment

Following his overdose, Dick checked into a treatment facility, admitting that initially, he refused to get help. However, a few of his good friends convinced him to go, saying that they “dangled a bunch of carrots” in front of him, namely his ongoing projects.

His friends told him he wouldn’t be able to move forward with his professional commitments if he didn’t get help. “There were a lot of things in the works that are still in the works. And by ‘in the works,’ I mean they are ready to go. But the dying throws a wrench into it,” Dick explained.

When it comes to sobriety, the comedian takes things day by day and gets inspiration from his family. Dick has two grandchildren and another one on the way, and he wants to leave a better legacy. “I better pull my f-cking sh-t together so they’re not just talking about old grandpa Dickie over there,” he said.

The Actor Has ‘Holes’ In His Brain

In an appearance on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast in March, Dick talked about his overdose. Howie Mandel expressed his concern for the comedian, sharing that they saw each other weeks before the overdose. “You looked like you were going to die that day,” Mandel said, and then the overdose happened.

Dick shared that he underwent a CAT scan and was told there were “about five to seven holes” found in his brain. Mandel told Dick that he doesn’t have many chances left, and many people are rooting for him. The latter agreed, saying that he has to “pull it together.”

Later, Dick’s representative clarified his statement about the holes in his brain, explaining that they were caused by an “unprovoked” attack on the comedian in 2019 that resulted in his head being cracked rather than from drug use. “We are assured that his brain will heal,” the rep added.

Andy Dick Wants Life To Be Fun And Fulfilling

At the end of the interview with Manheim, Dick reflected on his life. “I want life to be f-cking fun, man,” he said, recalling that while he had fun in the moment while using substances and drinking, looking back, they were “not that fun” at all.

“It’s not as fulfilling as just being sober and seeing your grandkids play. Or them looking at you and immediately smiling. And then when they laugh at something I do, I’ll do it over and over and over where they’re laughing till they’re crying,” Dick said, saying that he does those things despite not knowing why it makes his grandchildren laugh.

“That beats all of it,” he added.

It’s been a busy, yet rocky start to the year for Avatar: The Last Airbender. For the first time since The Legend of Korra ended in 2014, an entirely new story in the world of elemental benders is about to arrive in the form of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, originally slated for theaters but since moved to be a Paramount+ streaming release on October 9. Paramount, the filmmakers, and all the artists behind the animated feature were left reeling, however, when the entire film was leaked online back in April. A suspect was arrested just weeks later, but the damage had already been done, with those behind the film voicing the “disrespect” they felt seeing their years of effort spread across the internet.

For the Netflix live-action The Last Airbender series, at least, the news has been much better. Just over two years after Season 1 freed Aang from the ice once more, Season 2 is now only a month away from bringing Book Two of Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko‘s Nickelodeon classic to life and sending the GAang to the Earth Kingdom. After saving the Northern Water Tribe from the Fire Nation, Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), and Sokka (Ian Ousley), their next goals are to convince the Earth King to aid in fighting back and to find an earthbending teacher for the young Avatar. The first teaser gave a ground-shaking introduction to the blind prodigy Toph (Miya Cech), but now, Netflix has shared the official trailer, previewing the start of the Firebenders’ siege.

The footage opens with a chilling promise from Azula (Elizabeth Yu) — “The Earth Kingdom is going to fall.” Indeed, until the now clearly older Aang arrives, the Fire Nation has its opponents outmatched with blazing fury. In the likely time jump between seasons, an army has gathered just beyond the walls of the kingdom, forcing the Avatar and company to work quickly and try to convince the people that the fighting has never truly stopped, even though there are officials creepily repeating the iconic line, “There is no war in Ba Sing Se.” Toph may be the best earthbender Aang has ever seen, and she may be the key to unlocking his full potential, but they’ll need more help with destruction on a scale not yet seen in the series. Azula, in particular, is unlike any bender they’ve faced, though Zuko (Dallas Liu) is still running around, and danger seems to reach each member of the team, forcing Aang to consider what he might lose in this fight.

The End Is Already in Sight for Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’

Christine Boylan has taken the reins as showrunner for Season 2 from Albert Kim, though they’ll both still serve as executive producers with Jabbar Raisani, Dan Lin, Ryan Halprin, and Brendan Ferguson. Under their guidance, ATLA Season 1 was a major hit with over 298.6 million hours watched in less than two weeks while also being seen as a massive improvement over the infamous M. Night Shyamalan adaptation. Much of the same cast will return, with Miyako, Momona Tamada, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Maria Zhang, and Daniel Dae Kim among the other key players in the Avatar’s next journey. After this, the end will be firmly in sight for Netflix’s adaptation, as Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed back-to-back for a quick turnaround. At just seven episodes, the final run will face a real challenge in adapting the contents of Book 3 and the ultimate showdown with Ozai in a satisfying way, with all the spectacle viewers have come to expect.
